?Jamie, are the on our tails?? JJ asked, jumping over a box.

?Oh yeah. Can?t you hear them drooling?? Jamie yelled, grabbing her crowbar.

?Well, I was hoping we were just running for our health!? JJ said, chuckling.

That was when the mutant popped up in front of them, bringing the pair to a halt. JJ snarled and whipped out his pistol from its halter at his waist. Jamie already had her crowbar and she smashed it into the mutant's head, sending blood flying.

JJ had his eyes on the three or four mutants that had been chasing the pair. He squinted and fired off a round, smiling as a mutant went down. He aimed and shot the other two in the legs. JJ was feeling rather adventurous today, so he decided to try to take them down in hand-to-hand combat.

The first mutant jumped and the silver of JJ?s knife glittered in the sunlight as it embedded itself in the mutant?s skull. JJ jerked the knife and nodded as he heard the sound of brains losing what little function they still held.

The second mutant had seemed to get a bright idea as it snuck up behind JJ, ready to take of bite of his still living flesh. He never saw the crowbar that smashed into his skull and took him from the world of the living for a second time.

JJ whirled around and sighed relieved as Jamie stood, bouncing her crowbar over the dead mutant.

?So what?s our total for today now?? Jamie asked, sitting down on one of the various crates littered around the deserted parking lot.

?I?m at 6 and you?re at 5.? JJ replied, wiping the sweat off his brow.

The sun was beating down upon the open space and it was unbelievably warm. Ever since..well, ever since then the temperatures had seemed to go up during the day and down during the night. Most people would collapse under it all, but Jamie and JJ had just worn incredibly light clothing and hoped for the best everyday.

It had been a week since JJ?s transmission and no one had said anything. He did not know if there were any other survivors still in the city, so Jamie and JJ went on patrol everyday to hope and find some. The mutants were becoming smarter and two was starting to seem like a small number.

Just thinking about the mutants gave JJ the creeps. From serious facial issues to third arms and legs, JJ seemed to see something new every time he fought another one of them.

Maybe it was just a trick of the light, but the last bunch?s ears and noses seemed enlarged. JJ was a pessimist, no questions there. However, if the sense organs were growing, did that mean that brain capacities were as well?

JJ shuddered at the thought and did not mention it to Jamie. He just took a cigarette from her and lit it. There was one more day off his already worthless life.

OK people we're up and running now.

You start alone somewhere in the city. You've heard JJ's broadcast and are currently looking for everyone. Nobody join up within their first three or four posts. You can meet each other afterwards, but not JJ and Ezekiel. They'll find you, because they have a motorcycle and you don't. :p

Gene was pinned down, he had been for three days now. It was starting to look bad. He might have broken his leg, but he was trying not to think about it. Not like it would matter if he died of an infection. He lives through the bombing to die to some falling debrie. That's some bull crap.

It happend two days ago. Gene had heard a transmission on the radio waves calling out for any other surivivors. There were four of them at the start and now Starwind was the only one who hadn't been killed by one of those damn mutants. During there last attack he managed to drive them off, but knocked into a loose standing wall and it came down on him. He had been trying to stay quiet to keep from being noticed by the mutants still patrolling the streets. At the same time, if he stayed quiet, then what few survivors there were wouldn't find him.

He didn't know what to do with his leg pinned down. He had been in pain for a long time at first, but now he couldn't even feel it, which he knew was much worse then the feeling of pain. He still had his knife and pistols on him, but they could do little more then defend him, and only barely that, while he was stuck. He had to get himself out of this.

Starwind pulled at it again since now he couldn't feel the intense pain that usually went with this desperate attempt to escape. He set his left leg, his one free leg, and both arms off on the ground and pushed off with all the strength he could muster. He could hear popping and cracking as he did so. He thought of stopping, but kept going in spite of his concerns for the long term damage he might be causeing.

Starwind reached to his back and pulled out his knife and jammed it between his leg and the stone. He twisted it just slightly, causing the rock to lift and with one quick snap his leg came out from under the rock. He was finally free, but he still couldn't walk. He still couldn't feel his leg, but he also couldn't move it right now either. He must have dislocated it or something when he tried to pull it free.

He layed perfectly still for a bit, he was exhausted and the feeling was begining to return to his leg. The pain was coming back and his body began to twist and convulse with the pain. He thought about all that had happend up to now. He thought to himself if this was the end or not. And thought of how this was such a stupid way to die. He layed perfectly still, tetering on the brink of unconsiousness.

OCC: I hope this is okay to start out with.

Sakura's eyes darted around, it was dangerous in the OtakuBoards now. She had crawled out of the rubble of a building, scraping her knees and elbows. It had been a few days since the bombing and everything was in ruins, and members were running around crazily. But even worse, mutants had infested the boards and were attacking anyone in their way. Luckily for her, she had stolen a gun and a kitchen knife from two houses and was wielding both items as weapons.

She scampered along the streets, crouching low and trying to hang in the shadows. Sakura pressed herself against the wall, drawing her gun as she saw a group of mutants rush by. When they were out of sight, Sakura continued on cautiously, her gun still drawn and resting in her hand, index finger resting on the trigger with her thumb on the safety.

Sakura was headed to the outer edge of the boards where the malls were, they would obviously be half destroyed but there would be supplies there, hopefully, unless others had already taken everything. At that thought, she put on a burst of speed.

She looked at the mall in front of her, half of it had crumbled, leaving a gaping hole, allowing people to see each of the levels, well, the two of them that were left. She ran through into the lower level and started to scavange supplies, shoving them into a backpack she found in one of the stores. Sakura gathered as much food items as she could, along with bottles of water before moving on, collecting anything else she felt she needed.

Sakura whirled as she heard something, slinging the bag onto her back and tightening the straps. She heard the rustling again and suddenly a bunch of mutants came out from behind shelves and inside other places. Sakura swallowed and pulled out her gun from the holster on her left hip, taking off the safety and shifting it from targets. With her right hand, Sakura got out the kitchen knife that was stabbed in her belt, holding it with the blade pointing downward.

They sprung and Sakura started firing off bullets, picking her shots since she currently had a limited amount of ammo, only having 3 clips. If they got too close, Sakura plunged her knife into their forehead and pushed it through, dragging upward to slice through the brain. She sensed someone behind her, spinning and sending a bullet point blank through his heart. The blade slid from the forehead with a sickening squelching sound, it was tarnished in blood and gooey matter.

Sakura finished off the mutants around her and wiped her blade before tucking it into her belt. She extracted the empty clip from her gun, shoving another one into place and loading it. Sakura wandered upstairs and found an ammo shop, collecting handfuls of clips and putting them into her backpack for later. She ran out of the crumbling mall as fast as she could, afraid to get swamped again, or afraid what was left of it would collapse sometime soon.

She made haste, disappearing into the shadows again as she searched out a place to hide, seek shelter, and get some food into her system, and if she could risk it, a decent hour of sleep.

The OtakuBoards that Blayze had once known as his home was gone now. Buildings were ruined, streets were deserted, and the only signs of life were from those mutants that had been running the place ever since the attack. Two heads, couple dozen arms and legs, nature was throwing everything she had at mankind.

He had come to end up carrying his Bowie knife in his hand everywhere he went. The warm leather thong that was wrapped around the hilt was soft and comfortable in his hand, and the delicate glinting of the blade as the sun caught it was comforting.

He was now crouched beneath the rubble of what was once an office block, his muscles coiled, ready to attack anything that attacked him. He shifted his position, and a rock crunched on the concrete. He cursed silently, and made sure not to move again.

Snuffle...

What was that? He held the knife blade up and used it as a mirror to see what was behind him. It was only a thin mirror, and it was not very clear, but he saw a dark shape moving behind him.

A mutant...

He tightened his grip on the knife, and shifted himself round, lifting his body up slightly so as to not make any more noise on the rubble beneath him.

The mutant was hideous. Two legs, fair enough, but one arm was bloated to almost three times the size of a normal human arm. The other hung limply by the mutant's side, dangling uselessly.

But its face was the worst part. One ear seemed to be melted like hot wax into the side of the head, and the other was pointed and slightly twisted. Flesh had seemingly dripped over both the eyes and solidified, rendering the mutant completely blind. But its nostrils were turned into snake-like slits, and it was apparently moving around by its sense of smell alone.

Blayze got to his feet, crouching to avoid the low ceiling. He made his way quietly behind the mutant and then lunged, driving his knife into the thing's neck.

Blood sprayed out, and the mutant spasmed, gasping and screeching through its nostrils, somehow, and then fell to the floor, silent and still. Blayze withdrew his knife from the thing's neck, and wiped it on his trousers.

"That was disgusting," he said to himself, and then something hit him in the back of the neck, knocking him to the floor with a grunt. As he fell, he caught his hand on a sharp piece of rubble, and a splatter of blood hit the floor.

He rolled over just in time to dodge out of the way of a second mutant, this one with massively-inflated arm muscles, slamming its arms down on him. As they hit the floor, the concrete cracked.

"Holy Shit!" said Blayze, clambering to his feet, "This is not what I needed right now!"

The mutant swung at him again, and this time it hit him square on the jaw, spinning him around, but not quite knocking him over. Blayze whirled around and slammed his knife into the mutant's skull.

But his knife wasn't in his hand...

Dammit! thought Blayze, and he ducked under the mutant's swing once more. A kick to the legs knocked the thing to the ground, and Blayze grabbed a piece of concrete from the building and slammed it down on the mutant's head. It squirmed, so he slammed it down again, and again, and again, until the thing was definitely dead.

Blayze slowed his breathing down, and got to his feet, pikcing his knife up from where it had fallen. He needed to move on, get food, find people. He ducked out from under the building and began to head towards the nearest supermarket. There would be food there, and maybe other people would have had the same idea as him.

Bad day...

Gene laid there wavering for a moment, he was in unimaginable pain as he twisted and lightly rocked on the ground. He knew he had to get out of there, he wouldn't last very much longer. He was thirsty, hungry, and badly injured. He needed to find some survivors, it didn't matter who or how many, just somebody who could help him.

He rocked back and fourth, trying to build momentum as he did so. And with one strong swing he rolled from his back to his stomach. His eyes were warm with tears from the pain in his leg as he began to try and pull himself across the ground with his arms and elbows. But even tough he was free, the pain in his leg kept him from moving very quickly.

He heard a russel in the rubble around him and he reached for one of his pistols on his back . Fat lot of good those did him here, since he couldn't turn around very quickly if the mutant was coming from behind him. This idea made him alot more nervous and kept him on edge as his hand grasped lightly at the gun. He needed to get to his feet, even if he couldn't walk, at least he could get a better look around himself and protect himself a little more effeicently.

Starwind desperatly scrapped along the ground to a pile of gravel that was once a wall. He pulled himself up to a bent over position, as he hoped on one leg, since he was still unable to move his other one. He slowly stood straight up and looked over the destruction and devastation. This was once the proud land of Otakuboards and now it was a burning heap of debris and monsters. Gene wonderd to himself what the government planned to do. No doubt Dagger and Debresko would focus on cvering there own tails and taking off at first chance. The only chance for the nations stability would be for James to make a stand before the people. But at the moment that seemed impossible.

He heard the russle again. He drew his pistol and panned around himself quickly. The sudden movement almost made him lose his balance. A mutant slowly moved out from inside the remains of, what appeared to be, an old apartment complex. Gene took aim and shot the creature where it stood without a thought to it. It fell quick and Starwind laid right back down on the ground. He was back on his stomach and began to desperatly crawl away. He worried that the sound of his gun may alert other mutants to where he was and he couldn't get caught up like that.

He did his best to think of some kind of gathering point. A place where survivors still might flock to for safety or for some kind of neccesity. But he coudln't think of any such place in his desperate state of mind. He was too deeply gripped in the feelings of pain and fear to think clearly.

The supermarket was deserted, as were most of the streets. There were dead bodies littered across the floor here, however. It seemed that a lot of people had come here to get supplies, but the mutants had anticipated this and attacked in force, almost annihilating the humans that had come here to stock up.

Luckily for Blayze, there was a small group of dead soldiers lying just inside the supermarket, presumably come to defend the endangered civilians, but clearly the mutants had gotten to them as well. Their helmets were smashed in, their faces covered in blood and their limbs twisted into bizarre mockeries of the human form. But they had some supplies that Blayze could use. He picked up the bag that one had on his back, and found inside some ration packs, canteens of water, and a few clips of ammo. Rummaging around on the bodies themselves he found three handguns, but two of them were bent and twisted out of shape, and there was no way he could use them. But the third was in reasonable shape. He picked up the holster and slung it around his hip, and took the ammo and rations that the other two soldiers had, tossed them into the bag, and headed further into the supermarket.

It was deadly silent, save for the occasional metallic creaking of the main infrastructure of the building. He needed to be quick. It didn't sound like this place had too much longer to stay standing.

He headed quickly to the fresh fruit aisle, but most of it was a few days old by now, and it had started to turn. He managed to find a couple of bags of apples that looked alright, though, so he thrust them into his bag.

Next stop was the tinned goods aisle. There should be plenty of things left here, and they would all be well-preserved, so he could easily fill up his bag with them. And he was right. Almost the entire aisle of shelves was crammed full of tins of food, fruit, vegetables, beans.

But there, in the centre of the aisle, was something that Blayze didn't immediately recognise as a living thing. It was a strange shape, a kind of humanoid figure in the position one might normally find a crab, with all four limbs turned to touch the floor. It seemed to scuttle along, as well. Currently, it had ripped open some cans with the giant fangs that seemed to represent the thing's teeth, and was gorging itself on the contents of these cans.

Blayze fumbled at his side, grabbing the gun he had just picked up. He had trained with a gun, but he was not amazingly proficient with firearms. He took careful aim, directing the shot at the mutant's head. A quick squeeze of the trigger released a deafening blast, which rang around the supermarket, but the bullet ripped straight through the mutant's soft flesh, splattering blood all over the supermarket floor.

But other mutants would have heard this. Blayze shoved piles of tins into his bag, filing it up to the top, then closed it and swung it back onto his back. It was a little heavier than he would have liked, but on the plus side it could be used as an extra weapon, for bludgeoning, if he needed.

He ran, leaping over fallen shelves, and dead shoppers, running as fast as he could to escape from the mutants that were surely persuing him by now. He wiped his forehead as he ran. The days were definitely getting hotter, and there was a layer of sweat covering his brow, one that mixed with a thick covering of grime and dirt, leaving his face black and filthy. He needed a wash.

But there was no time for that now. He heard grunting, drooling sounds from behind him, and he knew instantly that the mutants were after him. He chanced a quick look over his shoulder, then immediately regretted it.

There were at least half a dozen mutants chasing him, and some of them looked a lot faster than him...

Gene dragged himself through the rubble and mess of the streets, tearing up his legs as he went. As much as it hurt, he couldn't walk so this was all he could do to get around right now. Fortunately, staying low meant he had almost no flose incounters with the mutants roaming the streets, down side was it meant that odds are most survivors in the area wouldn't notice him easily. Good luck, within bad luck type moment right here.

He kept his pistol clenched in hand, he only had two extra clips after the ones already in his guns. He had his knife, but fighting on his back seemed like a poor choice so his gun was his only chance to stay alive. He was starting to feel cold. He looked down to his leg and saw the pant leg had turned red. He was bleeding and it was starting to take it's toll on him. He must have lost at least three pints of blood.

Things kept going from bad to worse, cause now he started to feel like he was about to lose consiousness. His whole body was trembling violently. Then his vision started to give, everything got real fuzzy. His grip on his pistol was starting to fade and he was slowing down. His arms stopped moving, he couldn't even pull himself any further. All he could think was 'is this really where it's going to end? Am I really going to die like this?'

The bleeding had stopped, but that didn't mean he was out of the woods yet. If he passed out here, a mutant would kill him for sure. He needed to seek refuge or find someone to help him. He set his head on the rocky, unstable ground.

He shook his head, this was not the place to just give in. He pulled desperately to move forward, convincing himself that help was only a few more feet away. He could hear huffing and the sound of beating feet. Sounded like someone or something coming his way. He tightend his grip on his pistol and rolled on to his back, pointing at the ridge of rock and debris to the left of him. This could either be his saving grace, or his eminate death.

OOC: Sorry I haven't posted much, school's pretty stressful at the moment.

Sakura squeezed her way into a small alcove formed by a large part of a corner which used to be part of a building, the two walls rose quite high, and there was a large pile of rubble which covered most of the front besides a small gap which she had been able to fit through. The area inside was rather spacy as she stretched out her legs, resting the backpack in her lap. She put her gun next to her for easy access and unzipped the pack to take a good look at what she had scavenged. She pulled out the clips of ammo which sat on top as the last things she had gathered and put them beside her gun safely. She pulled out a first-aid kit, packets of chips, bags of fruit, a variety of canned foods, and several large bottles of water. She pulled out an apple from a bag of fruit and rubbed it on her shirt before taking a bite out of it. She savoured the sweet juices that filled her mouth as she chewed on the crispy fruit. She ate every part of the apple besides the pips which she spat out.

She carefully put everything back in, putting the cans at the bottom, first-aid kit on top of them, bottles of water at the side spaces, bags of fruit in the middle, and packets of chips on the top. Sakura opened the front pocket, putting all the ammo in there for keeping, using the small locks that came with the bag to lock the zips of both pockets closed, tucking the keys into the pocket of her pants. She put the bag on the ground and curled up, resting her head on it like a pillow, she fell into a light sleep, here ears constantly listened for anything that could tell her anyone was close to finding her.

Sakura woke up a few hours later, her eyes darted around before she silently pulled on her pack and picked up her gun, tucking it into its holster. She looked through the gap carefully to check that no mutants were in sight. When she was sure, she squeezed out of her hiding place and ran off toward the inner area of the OtakuBoards.

As she got closer inward, she heard screaming and monsterous roars, making her hand automatically rest on her gun. A woman ran past her in a frenzy, her clothes were torn and ragged, and she had lacerations all over her body as a pack of mutants rushed by. Sakura pulled out her gun and started firing, bullets piercing through their warped bodies. She aimed for their heads but as soon as one went down, they forgot about the other woma, all of them swivelling around to look at her with their glowing eyes. They leapt at her with their claws outstretched, Sakura ducked the ones that launched themselves at her and sliced them in half with her knife as they went past. She twirled the blade weapon around her fingers as she fired off bullets rapidly, each finding a mark. There was a sound behind her and she whirled, flinging the knife with a flick of her wrist, seeing it land right between its eyes. A few bursts later and she was surrounded by bodies again, though she had a couple of bleeding scratches along her bare arms. She put the gun away and approached the mutant that had her knife sticking forth, she looked at its facial expression, it was hard to tell but its eyes were wide and mouth open as blood trickled down its face. Sakura placed her heavy boot on the mutant's face and bent down to pull the weapon free. She wiped it off again and returned it to her belt.

Sakura hurried off in the direction the woman had run, she soon came across the body, with two mutants feeding on the carcass. She narrowed her eyes and shot them both, taking a look at the half eaten corpse. She knelt down and studied her face, reaching out and pulling her eyelids over the gazeless orbs. She stood up again and dusted off her hands, Sakura finally noticed the blood that was trickling through her fingers and looked at the nasty red lines. She hurried over to a small dark area and unlocked her pack, pulling out the things in her bag until she reached the solid white case with a bright red cross emblazened on it. She flicked open the latch and rummaged through, withdrawing a large roll of gauze bandage. Sakura opened it and held the end to her arm with her chin as she started to wrap it around her left arm, from next to the shoulder, down to her wrist and back up, putting several layers as the blood seeped through but making sure it wasn't as tight around her elbow so she could still function. When she thought there was enough she clipped it with a small metal clasp and repeated the process on her right arm. She tested the tightness, drawing her gun and knife and pretending to fight, she had to adjust it a couple of times before she was satisfied, putting everything away.

Sakura continued on, running through the streets, trying to avoid the groups that the mutants travelled in, patrolling the OtakuBoards, ready to strike at any passing member that happened to cross their path.

Jamie sat with a dismantled gun in her lap, polishing the barrel as a near-finished cigarette drooped from her bottom lip. JJ was late, and she was starting to get worried?plus she was fast running out of cigs. She heard the crunch of a boot on the harsh gravel just beyond the entrance to her bunker and snapped to attention. A large part of her knew it would be JJ, but there was always something in the back of her mind telling her to be on alert 24 hours a day. She reassembled her gun as quickly and as quietly as possibly and crossed her wrists, resting her gun hand on her bottom arm to keep it steady. JJ walked into sight and just quirked an eyebrow at the gun pointing at his head and set down his backpack. Jamie sighed and lowered the gun, rubbing her temples wearily as JJ began unpacking the supplies he?d found.

?Miss me?? he asked, no sign of real emotion in his voice, only exhaustion.

?Yeah,? Jamie replied, stretching her arms above her head, ?It?s not the same when you tell me my bad habits will kill me.?

JJ shot her a wry grin and held out his hand, ?Speaking of which??

Soon, the two friends were sitting with a meagre meal in front of them, both smoking and a little happier than they were before. As if on cue, however, JJ?s smile slipped to a frown and he grew silent. Jamie tented her fingers and leant forward over the table top, talking with one corner of her mouth tightened over the end of her cigarette.

?What is it?? she asked, quite bluntly, surprising JJ in the slightest. He shook his head and, as if to answer her question, reached over to a shelf with a can of fruit on it, passing it Jamie.

?Even if we do survive the relentless mutant attacks,? he began, voice monotonous and low, ?Eventually, food is going to expire, run out, or be destroyed. We won?t be able to find anything to eat.?

The red head merely waved him off and stumped out her cigarette, tossing the can back to him as if it were all a game. ?If it makes you feel any better, JJ, I promise to put a bullet in your skull before that happens.?

?You?re a pal, Jamie.?
****
Night had fallen, and despite JJ?s odd and frantic warnings, Jamie had decided to venture out in search of a new food supply. She preferred searching at night because, despite the hordes of mutants, it was cooler and easier to stay hidden. Plus, she was hoping to find other members, and figured that any other survivors would rest at night, making it easier to track them down.

It was then that she heard the shuffling of dirt and the suspicious sound of metal against metal. Jamie immediately slammed her back to a wall and edged along until she reached the corner, peering around ever so slightly to see what was going on. She didn?t see a mutant, as she was expecting, but walked straight into the barrel of a gun. She gasped and went rigid, fear instantly rushing through her. She didn?t even see the person who was pointing the weapon at her, but was greatly relieved when he lowered it.
?I thought you were a mutant,? a voice said, gruffly. It was male, and hardly apologetic. Jamie breathed out in relief and untensed, looking up at the taller man. ?Easy mistake, I guess,? she said, trying not to let on how incredibly ecstatic she was to find someone else alive. Regardless of the fact he?d just pointed a gun at her forehead.

The man himself was also relieved, it seemed, because rather than turning away he stepped forward, allowing Jamie to see his face through the sparse moonlight. ?Blayze,? he muttered, extending a dirty and bloodstained hand. Jamie smiled slightly and took his hand in her own, shaking firmly. ?Ezekiel,? she said, not trusting him with her real name just yet, ?It?s a pleasure.?

OOC: Take it away, Phil, I don?t have any plans as of yet, so you?ve got free reign over this.

"Ezekiel," said Blayze, "Interesting name."

"I could say the same about you," replied the woman standing in front of him. She was a fair bit shorter than him, and her hair was a shock of red on top of her head. She was dressed in black leather, and was wielding a crowbar with what looked like deadly intent.

Blayze holstered his gun and leant against the wall. He had not stopped for days, and he was exhausted.

"So, where are you staying?" asked Ezekiel, "You have some little hidey-hole out there safe from the mutants?"

"No," replied Blayze, "I got nowhere. I've been on the move since the attack happened. I haven't stopped in a long time."

"Well, you can't keep that up. You need to find somewhere," she said, "In fact, you could come stay with us."

"Us? There are more?"

"Well, just one more. Me and JJ, we got a place nearby. It's not much, but it's safer than running around all the time. I guess there's safety in numbers as well. The more of us there are, the less likely we are to be outnumbered by muties."

"Well, I have plenty of food in my bag," said Blayze, indicating the bag on his back, "There should be enough for three or four, five at a push. If you put me up for a while, I'd be more than happy to share it with you."

"That's generous of you. Come on, I'll take you there."

She turned around, and began to walk back to the bunker.

Suddenly, from nowhere, a mutie jumped them, leaping off the top of a nearby building, landing almost right on top of Ezekiel. Blayze grabbed his knife from his boot and slammed it into the mutant's back, but there was some kind of hard bone shield covering it, and the knife didn't even penetrate.

Luckily for Ezekiel, but unluckily for Blayze, this meant that the mutant turned around and punched Blayze to the ground. He felt something crunch in his cheek, but didn't stop to think what it was.

He drew his pistol as the mutant bore down on him, and he fired once into the mutant's head. But, more thick bone covered this mutant's cranium, and the bullet didn't manage to puncture it.

The mutie was about to slam it's fist down onto Blayze again, but it was struck in the back of the neck by something pretty solid. It fell, almost landing on Blayze, but instead it slumped to the side, dead.

Ezekiel stood over it, bloodied crowbar resting in her hands.

"Thanks," said Blayze, getting to his feet, "That's the closest one of those things has gotten to finishing me off. Probably would have done if you hadn't been here."

"Well, let's just say you owe me one," said Ezekiel, walking away. Blayze followed her, and they headed back to the bunker.

OOC: Hope this is ok with you, Jamie

Rocks and debris shifted and rolled to the bottom as at the top of the mound stood a lone dog staring curiously down at Gene. His gun was fixed on it for a moment, but he set it back down and took a long sigh of relief. It may not be help, but at least it wasn't a mutant. Gene waved to the curious looking dog and it ran down with a great excitement. It immidiately found it's way to his leg and wimmperd a bit at the deep red stains on his otherwise white pant leg.

Gene sat up and gave the dog a light pat on the head. The dog started to circle around him and eventually found it's way to sitting next to his head. It was strange, this was just some random stray dog, but it was acting like it was waiting for him or something. Though it wasn't human, this was still welcomed companionship, he had been alone for long enough

More curious was how the dog had kept itself alive this long. Must have been one smart old boy to have made it this long. gene gave the dog one more pat on the head and then rolled back around and kept at it. He had this dog to watch his back. Even if it wouldn't protect him, it would sure as hell run if it smelled any mutants coming, so now he would be able to tell if he was getting closer to danger, or possibly even some other survivors.

As he pulled himself along the ground the simple mutt of a dog moved alongside him, keeping his eyes on him. The sun was getting low and the nights out here were even worse then the days. He needed to give up on his hunt for the day and find some place to hide for a day. The air was already starting to get colder and the growls in the darkness were getting louder. These mutants were like animals, the night was there prime time.

But as he rolled and crawled through the mess he heard something other than a growl or moan. He heard an actual voice coming from just a little ways off. He was too close to let it go. He pushed himself up, til his spine was bent in a curve and he had brought his head at least 3 feet from the ground and screamed "SOMEBODY, ANYBODY, HELLLLPP!!"

The air was silent for a second, then he heard the voices again along with foot steps. The dog then ran off, barking all the way and jumping furiously. The light was dim, but Gene could see someone not to far off. He screamed again "PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP MEEE!!!"

He heard a girls voice as she shoulted for someone else to come. Another person, a young man, came out from behind a rather badly crumbled wall and stood next to here. The two carefully approached him. This sight filled Gene with an overwhelming sense of relief. As they started to pick there pace to a run he was on the brink of tears as he chuckled in an almost hysterical way. The young man knelled down next to him "Are you alright?"

Gene chuckled a bit more as the tears started to flow down his face "My leg.... I can't move it."

The young man went to his leg and started to run his hand along it. He cringed a bit "Your legs pretty mangled. Don't worry, we'll try to help if we can."

Gene's chuckles turned to laughs. Though he laughed he still couldn't stop crying either. The girl leaned alongside him "What's your name?"

He laughed some more then started to take deep breaths, trying to calm down enough to speak. And in a wraspy, panting voice "My name.... Starwind.... Thank you."

He set his head down on the ground and fell into unconsiousness.

Jamie never ceased to amaze JJ with her plans. Although this last one of hers was just plain stupid. Going on off your own was the one thing you did not do when overrun with mutants was on the menu for your city. He sighed as she took off and grabbed his leather jacket. If she was going to go off, he was going for a ride.

JJ shut up the little home away from home and walked over to his motorcycle. He straddled it and sighed. Every time he got on, the guilt he felt over the entire seemed to grow. Maybe it was because of where he had found it. Maybe it was whom it belonged to before. Maybe he just could not control his feelings of guilt over the entire incident.

Whatever the reason, it was getting to the point to where JJ did not like to drive around anymore. Of course, his and Jamie?s survival depended on the bike, so JJ swallowed it all down. The exact same thing he did as he kicked the kickstand back and drove off onto the deserted street.

Like most nights, JJ was alone with his thoughts and feelings which were slowly starting to scare him. Every night, he felt the phantom pain of losing someone special to him. The same deal, every second he slept. Their face would swim by him, their last moment etched as they swam. The pain, sadness, anger and surprise still gave JJ goose bumps.

Even now, he shivered a little. Yeah, if anyone were to ask, he could just say it was the wind, but then he would be lying. This really was not very unusual these days. But then again, what was usual when your world ends?

JJ was lost in thought he almost hit the woman standing in the middle of the street waving her hands around. He slammed the brakes back and the motorcycle skidded to a halt as the woman jumped out of the way. JJ jumped off the ?cycle and rushed over to where he thought the woman was.

She was already standing and waving her hands again when JJ found her. She rushed over to him, her breath raspy.

?Can?you help me? There?s?man? maybe dead?? She sputtered out.

?What? Dead!? Why the hell worry about him then?? JJ shouted, still pissed about her stunt.

?Don?t yell at me! There?s a man possibly dead or dying in that corner over there. Can you help me move him?? The woman demanded.

?Why should I?? JJ questioned.

?Because, you might as well be one of them if you don?t.? The woman replied coldly, looking up into JJ?s eyes.

Recognition hit JJ like a sack of bricks as he followed the woman.

?Sakura, is that you?? He asked, watching her expression.

?Yeah, how?d you know?? She asked, turning around.

?It?s me, JJ.? He replied.

?JJ!? You?re still alive! Oh my?? She muttered.

JJ grabbed Sakura into a quick hug and kept walking, seeing the ?patient? immediately.

?What do you want me to do?? JJ asked, tossing a look at Sakura.

?You have to have some kind of shelter. Help me get him there. I think his wounds are treatable.? Sakura explained.

?You think? Sakura, I can?t risk yours and my life for some guy that?s probably going to die.? JJ said, sadly.

?I don?t care JJ. You have a sidecar for the bike, no? I can ride behind you or wait behind while you take him back. I can take of myself very well. I?m still alive, am I not?? Sakura questioned.

?Damn right. I gotta go back to my ?hole? first and pick the sidecar up. I?ll be back as soon as possible. Put up something so I know where to stop, ?kay?? JJ yelled over his shoulder.

?Will do!? Sakura called back.

JJ hopped on his bike and rode back with little problem. He ran into a mutant, but he just rammed it with the motorcycle and kept driving. He arrived into the ?garage? he parked the bike in normally and quickly attached the sidecar. A screw here, a bolt here and viola.

?You just attached the sidecar! You can now take more than one person with you!?

JJ chuckled at his joke and he hopped back on the bike. Zelda jokes were all the rage when?

He stopped his train of thought and kept focused on the road, watching for Sakura?s sign. Instead of a sign, he saw Sakura herself with the unconscious guy in her tow. He pulled over and quickly loaded him into the sidecar.

?Coming?? JJ asked Sakura, patting the back of the motorcycle.

?Yeah, got a helmet?? Sakura asked as she hopped onto the back.

?Nope.? JJ said, chuckling.

He took off smiling and yelling into the wind, Sakura giggling on the back. It was almost like old times. Almost.

?Shit?? Ezekiel reached down to check Starwind?s pulse, still a little shocked about finding another member in the open without mutants crawling all over him. She gestured to Blayze who quickly knelt down on Starwind?s other side, hooking his arms around the back of his neck.

?We need to get him back to camp, want me to take his other side??

Blayze shook his head, hauling Starwind?s deadweight up from the ground. ?You keep watch for any mutants, I?ll look after this guy.?

Ezekiel nodded and, after pouring some water into Starwind?s mouth, the trio set off.

It took a long time, but they were lucky enough not to come across any mutants along the way. Eventually Ezekiel was opening the large door to her and JJ?s bunker, holding it open so that Blayze could drag Starwind inside. ?He can take my cot.? The woman said, keeping her voice low just in case.

Blayze nodded and dropped Starwind to a mattress on the floor, cushioning his head with an old pillow. ?We need to do something about his leg, he?s lost too much blood already.?

?I know, I know,? Ezekiel, still managing to keep her cool, searched for something in her bag before coming back over to Blayze?s side.

?We?ll use this bandana as a tourniquet. There?s a main artery running along his thigh and I?m pretty sure it?s only been nicked, otherwise he?d be dead by now,? she paused, searching Blayze?s face for understanding. He simply nodded, and Ezekiel went on, ?JJ should be back soon, and hopefully he?ll know of a place where we can get bandages and painkillers. He?s scouted around more than I have.?

As she spoke, the redhead tied up Starwind?s leg and washed off the excess blood with some spare water, putting a clean cloth on the man?s forehead.

?I hope he doesn?t have septicaemia,? Blayze said, sounding genuinely worried. Although they?d only just met, Jamie trusted Blayze. They didn?t know how many others were left, but it couldn?t be many. She wanted as many friends as possible right now.

Just then the sound of tires on gravel was heard and Blayze immediately jumped up. Jamie shook her head and reached up to pat his arm before standing up herself, ?It?s JJ,? she explained, ?We have a bike.?

OOC: Yeah, that was a crappy post, but JJ needed it so he could move things along. Call me the Queen of Filler, baby. *rolls eyes*

?I can?t believe I?m thinking this, but it?s great to be back here.?

JJ pulled his baby up to the bunker and got off the bike, helping Sakura off as well. She knocked on the door while JJ figured out how to lift the person. As Jamie opened the door, JJ dragged the body into the bunker, handed it off to Jamie and went back out to put the bike back in the garage.

Within ten minutes, he was back and everyone sat down in the cramped space. JJ passed around a bottle of water and everyone took a sip. It was that bottle of water that started it all?.

?So, introductions all around?? JJ suggested, smiling.

?I?m Ezekiel.?

?Blayze.?

?I?m Sakura.?

?JJ?s the name.?

?The guy in the corner with the leg problem is Starwind, I believe.? Ezekiel explained.

?And you brought him here?!? JJ exclaimed. ?Look at him! He?s practically a mutant magnet. You know, the whole mutants outside are attracted to blood and the hurt and whatnot??

?What are you getting at JJ?? Blayze asked.

?What the hell do you think? Having him here is like making a sign that says, ?Survivors here, please eat!?!? JJ yelled.

?JJ, calm down, at least allow them a chance to explain?? Sakura started.

?No, damnit. I should haul his ass out of here right now.? JJ mumbled.

?Over my dead body. JJ, we?re the very few. We?re the minority. Why throw away something that could be saved? Don?t you even consider that he has feelings too? That maybe he has dreams he?d like to live out?? Ezekiel countered.

?Oh, you?re going to talk to me about dreams? What about yours and mine? Huh? What about the people we loved? Where are they? Huh!? Don?t even think about bringing dreams or any of that bullshit into this. Look, we have to get rid of him before we get overrun by mutants and we all die.? JJ replied, shaking his head.

?I think you need a reality check JJ.? Blayze sneered. ?You think that you?re the only person who matter here? You seem only to want to look out for the big nummero uno. It doesn?t work like that anymore. You?re not in whatever cushiony job you had back then. You?re in a fucking wasteland fighting for your life. Grow a pair and come back to the real world.?

JJ could have beaten the snot out of Blayze, but he instead took a swig of the flask he kept in his jacket pocket. Already swigging in front of everyone probably wasn?t the best at this point, but JJ needed something to calm his nerves.

?So, this is what it is, huh? You all for keeping Mr. Magnet over there? Well, fuck you all. Die if you want. I?m taking the bike and going. Hope you guys live long and prosper lives rotting.? JJ responded, opening and slamming the door.

Sakura and Ezekiel looked to the door worried while Blayze just looked to the wall. None of them exchanged glances as the sound of the motor kick starting pierced the walls. No one spoke as the sound of the motor became nearer and quickly faded.

It was then that Sakura and Ezekiel went to their charges and looked them over. Sakura?s eyes glazed over quickly and she blinked, eliminating it. ?He?s dead.?

?Oh my god?? Blayze whispered.

?Toss the body out onto the road, but cut the head off first.? Ezekiel responded. ?We can?t take any chances that he?ll come back.?

Sakura turned to Blayze and half heartedly smiled. ?Wanna help??

Blayze nodded and Ezekiel gave Sakura blanket. The body covered; the procession began.

Ezekiel was now alone and she, unlike Sakura couldn?t keep such a great hold on her emotions. She let out a sob and caught herself, sticking a cigarette in her mouth. ?I?d rather look cool than broken.? She said aloud to no one in particular.

OOC: The story begins! In my next post, we?ll welcome the 6th player in the game. Until then, Sakura and Blayze, you guys?ll burry the body. Ezekiel, I?d like you to keep an eye on Starwind. Who, by the way, will wake with no knowledge of what?s gone on.

Keep your heads up everyone, things will start moving slowly, I promise!
