What is the strangest thing you've ever eatten

The strangest thing I've ever eaten would have to be peacock tongue. It's surprisingly tender and has an almost tart taste to it. Or maybe it was just the way it was cooked. Either way, that's what it tasted like to me.

Anyway, the strangest thing I've eaten is probably chicken's feet. There wasn't really much meat on it, but it definitely had a distinctive taste.

On a much stanger note, the weirdest thing I have drank is actually rice wine with snake's blood in it. At first I thought it was red wine, but then I took a sip and tasted that it definitely wasn't red wine. Then I happened to see the bottle the snake was preserved in with the rice wine, and someone scooping some out.[/color][/size][/b]

The strangest thing that I've personally ever ate would have to be squid or rabbit soup. To some people thats extreme but to me it's just seafood. It's pretty good stuff actually, calamari tastes wonderful. I just tell them pretend like it's chicken. However, it was hard for me to eat the rabbit soup since my family has a rabbit as a pet. It tasted strange, not really bad but it definately wasn't the best. Other then that the only thing that I can pick out that is wierd, is that I like to eat my fries with ranch dressing and not ketchup.

One thing my boyfriend eats that I find especially wierd is [b]peanut butter && cheese[/b] sandwhiches and also [b]Spinach w/ranch dressing[/b]. I can understand peanut butter and cheese to an extent, but the spinach I could never handle. Apparently, his step-mother eats everything with ranch dressing, so thats where he gets it from.

For one the absolute strangest thing that I have ever eaten on any record would have to be a rock. Yes a rock, I am not kidding you I ate a small rock. It happened when I was outside, I was taking some medicine in the form of a pill and accidently dropped it. It was dark when I picked it back up and once I swallowed it...I found it it wasn't my medicine... Needless to say I wasn't feeling very well in the following days. Yet... It did taste like rocky road ice cream. :p

On a less...Irregular bases the wierdest thing I have eaten was an alligator's tail. I think it was at a resteraunt named Razoos or something like that. My mother ordered some for the whole table to share... yet when we had actually got it nobody even dared to touch it. I know I didn't..So it ended up that we did a game of rock paper sissors to see who would be the first one to try some. As it seemed my luck was the worst and I lost... I never want to see another plate of that again...although...that rock sounds pretty tasty around now.[/FONT][/SIZE][/COLOR]

As I have mentioned before in the past when this topic reincarnates itself...what is weird to you may be completely normal to someone else. This of course relating to "ethnic foods". For all you Tofu haters out there I am more than happy to eat your share. I absolutely [b]love[/b] Tofu. My favorite way to eat Tofu is tied between Tofu Miso Soup and just plain Tofu with a dash of Soy Sauce. YUMMY!! In fact I may have some Tofu for dinner tomorrow night! It's one of my favorite foods!

Now there is one ethnic food that makes me gag when I think about it. I know there are people here who have tried it (not me) and they are far braver than I. It's a popular Filipino snack called Balut. It's basically a hard boiled duck egg with a partially formed baby duck in it. I can stomach raw fish but Balut is waaaay beyond anything I am willing to even try. I swear that food should be on Fear Factor. Just thinking about it makes me feel icky.

The strangest food I have eaten would have to be jelly fish. It was slimy on the outside with a crunch on the inside. The crunch being like a rice crispy crunch. Salty and surprisingly tasty. I had it at my cousin's wedding reception a few years back. I wouldn't go out and buy it on my own, but if it were served to me again I would eat it.

Eel, octopus, squid, shark...I've had all of those. I'm sure there are other Japanese foods I've eaten that others would find weird but I just can't think of them.

They're really good. It's small chunks of rattlesnake meat cooked into flat potato fritters. Quite tasty! I had some at the Café Diablo in southern Utah a while back.

Another food I've had in southern Utah is not so much strange as an interesting flavor combination. It's called the [b]Chocolate Chile Cream Pot,[/b] and it's a specialty of the Hell's Backbone Grill (quite possibly the best restaurant I've eaten in). It's a small pot of the smoothest, richest chocolate you could hope to try, but with chile powder mixed in. It's all topped off with a dab of homemade whipped cream and some small edible flowers. The creamy chocolate combined with the spicy bite of the chile makes for an interesting little dessert![/FONT][/COLOR]

Spicy chocolate has to be one of the best things out there. Actually almost anything chocolate is on my edible list - except chocolate covered insects. I refuse to eat anything I have disected. *shudder*

The strangest breakfast I have had is probably apples with peanut butter. Smooth is better than crunchy, otherwise you worry oyu may have gotten a worm or something. The best ethnic food I have tasted is Morroccan Hare (rabbit). I've only had it once when I was travelling and I have made plans to go back ever since, but it is a 10 hour drive so I haven't been able to justify it yet.

The peacock tongue is the strangest thing I have heard of so far. Who would even think of trying to cook that. "The first person ever to cook peacock tongue" now there is a story I would pay to hear, though it is likely just some poor fellow who had no money nor food and was trying to get the most out of his peacock.

Sand on the other hand isn't so rare. I used to eat sand too when I was a little little child. I blame it on an overactive imagination and being taken to the beach. :animesmil
