Guest playforchrissy
I am just starting to get into j-pop thanks to a cd I got at my work (at umvd) and it's really good. It's by a singer names Agnes Chan and her voice and style and everything is just so good. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any similar artists for me. I know her website is officialagneschan.com if you want to give her a listen too.
KatanaViolet
This thread is a bit vague and doesn't promote alot of discussion, but it has the potential to. I've been going on a bit of a Japanese music craze lately. I can't really say that I'm particular to a certain band or artist, but I do have a list of songs that I quite enjoy! TM Revolution//Ignited Chemistry//Wings of Words Weiz Kreiz//One Night Carnival (I don't know if that's how the name of the band is spelled, that's just what I got from the katakana) High And Mighty Color//Pride High And Mighty Color//Ichirin No Hana TM Revolution//Heart of Sword TM Revolution//Imitation Crime Amuro Namie//Come Angela//Shangri-La Angela//Seperation Okina Reika//Tsuki No Curse Hitomi Takahashi//Bokutachi no Yukue Luna Sea//Tonight Asian Kung Fu Generation//Rewrite

Or is this the same song we're talking about here? The intro for Naruto one? Anyway, T.M. Revolution has another good one called 'Invoke'. Revolut1on
If you're looking for a good strong J-pop female vocalist, you can't go wrong with Crystal Kay. Every song I've heard from her has been awesome. Her vocal skills are rivaled by very few women in the J-pop industry. If you want to hear a song from her that shows off her amazing voice you should check out 'Tears.' Not only does she have an awesome voice for someone so young, but she's also really beautiful. If you're looking for a really good J-pop band I highly recommend L'Arc~en~Ciel. Their lead singer, Hyde, has one of the most amazing voices I've ever heard. And Ken's gutiar work is nothing short of brilliant. I recommend their song Forever ~Eien, it's so beautiful. Other cool J-pop artists/groups: Utada Hikaru Porno Graffiti Asian Kung-Fu Generation Chemistry Ayumi Hamasaki Glay Gack't I hope I was helpful. Ready Steady Go appears in Fullmetal Alchemist. I haven't heard Forever ~Eien though... :babble: I also really like "Colors" By Utada Hikaru. Although I haven't heard of the other ones you listed, so I'll have to take a listen.
I didn't know T.M. Revolution did Heart of Sword. I love that song! And lastly, I have heard "Invoke" many times, and I love that song! TM Revolution is pretty popular in Japan, and has also provided voice acting in Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed destiny, and other song of his that appears in Seed is "Meteor" check it out
Redemption
I really love the Phase Shift remix of Invoke. Both versions are really cool and trendy. ^_^

Reiku, I haven't heard the Phase Shift mix... oh my, I'm going to have to go on another downloading spree.

KatanaViolet
So I went on a little downloading spree, looking up all the bands listed here and there. Porno Graffiti: "Hitori no Yoru"- I really like the beat of this song, it's a funky kinda rock. Really bouncy and that's what I like about this song. "Agehacho"- The beat sounds somewhat latino, and also very upbeat. I love the flute! "Melissa"- At first I didn't really like this, because the beginning wasn't really tweaking my ears, but as I listened to the rest of the song I started to enjoy it, although I like the other two songs much better. Verdict: Definately a band worth checking out, it's upbeat pop/rock songs are great to listen to on my MP3 player. Utada Hikaru "Tokyo Nights"- Very pop song, but I love how unique it sounds, at least unlike North American pop songs. "Devil Inside"- The beginning of this song I was just kind of waiting to hear the rest of it to decide what I thought of it. But again, very different from most pop songs, and I like the guitar in it too. As well as the Japanese instrument (I forget what it's called). Great song. Verdict: Very unique pop music, I would definately prefer this over the stuff that is popular here. L'Arc~En~Ciel "Forever (Eien)"- This song reminded me of The Strokes. I love it. "Lies and Truth"- This song is okay, the opening was a little blah, but then it kind of picked up a little bit. I liked the use of violins. Good stuff. Verdict: I allready liked these guys, so expanding my song list by them is just lovely. Glay "Scream"- This is such a funky song. Has a bit of a industrial/techno feel to it. I just wanna boogy when I listen to it. "So Far Yet So Close"- Quite different from Scream, but also a very unique and beautiful song. "Way of Difference"- Another slower song, very mellow, I would listen to this while I'm studying or lounging. I like how it picks up a little bit too, kind of lifts you up from the mellowness. Verdict: If there are more songs as awesome as Scream, I definately want to hear more.

Ezekiel
Arg, why no Orange Range love? >_< They're one of my favourite bands ever, mainly because they have such an awesome variation in their style. They did the first BLEACH theme, Asterisk, and the third ending of Naruto, Viva Rock. You get songs, like Chest and Kiri Kiri Mai, which are really heavy rock, then something like Hana which is so gentle it makes you want to fall asleep. They're amazing, really, and some of their songs are such fun. You should seriously check them out if you're into JPop/JRock.
KatanaViolet
I only got Asterisk so far, but I really liked it....the other ones you mentioned are proving to be rather illusive... funny, I didn't even start this thread... what happened to the thread starter anyways? hm.. More Japanese music goodness! See Saw//Anna Ni Issho Datta No Ni (Gundam Seed Ending 1) Siam Shade//No! Redemption
How about the starting theme for Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu? I can't remember the person's name right at the moment but I like her. And who's the artist who sings all of the songs on Full Moon Wo Sagashite? I've always been eager to find that out. And I'm sure that some songs from the DDR game are available online somewhere. I really love Butterfly and Vanity Angel. ^_^
