I recently read an article in a magazine (not one of the usual, unreliable type but a truly reliable magazine - NewScientist) that a group of engineers at HP are developing a new system for mobiles as well as SMS messaging. The new system works like this... all the mobiles have a built in Global Positioning System, and this is linked to a kind of internet type system. Every location in the world has a different page on this system, and you can drop messages there, such as if you go to a restaurant you can leave a message saying what u thought of it. When someone goes to that spot, they will recieve your message. You can pretty much leave these messages anywhere.

Damn... there was a web site for the people developing the system but i dont have it with me. Ill edit the post tomorrow.

What would you think of this type of message system?

What voodookana said is right, too many people would leave sooo much junk that you'd take an hour just to find something true.

But two goood ideas are:

Mobile phones that ring snack machines and drink machines so you get a snack/drink

Using your mobile phone to turn on your tv or air conditioner etc

you put too little faith in these people. Theyve already thought of that, and you can screen your messages so you only get certain ones. Still, that will only reduce the problem rather than eliminate it, but they are working on it...

I t seems neat at first, but doesn't that mean your cell phone company would know where you are at all times? That would be kind of creepy. :shifty:
