Well, that totally bites a**. I'd be like, "Well... I never liked you anyway!" XD

Seriously, I usually buy most of my anime from Best Buy because their stock of anime is never ensing and limitless. Sure it might be expensive, but it's so worth it. I also go to Suncoast because they have the most greatest deals and even sell manga, shirts and plushies! Woo hoo!! XD

Best Buy = Anime goodness ^_^

It really does me good to walk into a best buy t hese days and see so many good animes that the offer which could possibly make my head explode. I used to go there pretty often but now with school just trying to
rape
me with so many projects I have only been able to see what I have been able to torrent ; _ ; It makes me sad inside just a little bit.

However the only thing that can be better than best buy is if you have someone who works/has connections with Best Buy..then you will be in anime paradise.

However if in the small number of times that Best Buy does fail me. I would suggest looking up if there is a store near you that has anime stuff. Most likely one that would be in a Plaza like area, since the most that I go to are in that kind of area.

I like to buy Anime, but my pockets aren't as deep as they could be. This results in bargain hunting and patiently waiting for sales and clearances. Recently, I bought a couple DVDs from HMV because they were on sale, but usually I get what I can from conventions.

I love buying things from conventions because not only are they (usually) marked down, but I can bargaining and haggling for a better price is totally acceptable. ^^ It also goes without saying that the quantity of Anime at a convention is a lot nicer than what they have in stock at the local video store. ;)

Well, there's this little shop in the mall by my house called The Anime Club and they have absolutely everything (anime, manga, figurines, J-pop/rock cds, anime soundtracks, kendo swords, kunai replicas, etc.) They used to have a DDR pad like the ones in the movie theaters selling for, like, two hundred or something and I got an awesome Fullmetal Alchemist ring there (it's got the cross-thing-with-the-snake!^^); I also wanted the Naruto ring with the Konoha leaf-thing on it, but I didn't have enough money left... :animeswea.
But if I must suggest a place that can be found most anywhere: Best Buy (or Amazon.com). They have absolutely everything under the sun. (That also goes for cds. MUSIC=LIFE!!!)

I usually buy DVDs only at conventions. I like to save my money throughout the year, and blow it all off at the con I attend annually.

Other that that, there were a couple occasions in which I asked the owner of the local video rental store to order DVDs for me, and I've bought anime from Best Buy, but only when I have giftcard or some other discount.

Man... from what you guys are saying, maybe I should start doing the whole convention thing.

In my experience, the best place to buy is online, at stores like TRSI, DDD and DVD Pacific. Nowadays, I do virtually all of my anime-related shopping at TRSI (with small side forays into eBay, Best Buy and Borders for manga). Their everyday prices look mediocre unless you take advantage of them with pre-orders, coupons, membership discounts, free shipping, etc. I know people who only shop with them during studio sales, or just buy from their daily deals & weekly specials. Either way, though, they have the best customer service around.

If online isn't an option, I'd say that Best Buy is probably your best brick-and-mortar bet.

Agreed. I may have to check in on these conventions as well. Problem is I don't think they're any in Detroit. O_o

In any case, I too do all of my anime shopping online. Except I go to MediaCavern. They're prices are pretty decent too.

I'm cheap and only rent my stuff, but I've found some good local places where you can find a LOT. Like my local comic book store has a whole DVD section devoted to anime that you can rent, and the independent movie rental round the street has a big anime section as well. You just have to find those great little places.

I just checked out the site, and I was actually pretty impressed by their prices. I might give them a whirl at some point.

I normally try overstock.com first, they have an ok selection. Their shipping is dirt cheap, so that helps alot too! If that fails me I head to bestbuy, or try to find a really good deal on ebay. Rightstuf (as dagger mentioned) is really good if you find a sale or are a member:p

Personally I would shop at Best Buy or Hastings. They're also just the only stores around that sell anime cheaply. I mean $19.99 probably isn't all that great but still its cheaper than what freaking FYE is wanting...

I hear you bro FYE is a serious ripoff. $30 a pop is insane.

The trick is to find a store that specializes in anime. They are usually the cheapest.
I used to go and get my anime from a small dvd store. Then I started to see there anime section was getting smaller and smaller I finally asked the guy about it and he told me that they were going to stop holding anime. So now I have to find a new place to get my anime.
I usually get most of my anime at the zstore.com and they almost everything dragonball Z and lots of other anime too. They have dvd's and posters and everything.

Well i know that Amazon.com is a great source for Anime and manga i have bought several movies aswell as non-anime related goods. They waste no time in shipping, the prices are cheap and its really simple to use.

Also for you Ozzies Madman.com is great for solely Anime Manga and Japanese Stuff.

Check It Out :D
