hey everyone. just starting this thread to ask a few things. 1) how do you see groups??? 2) what do you do in groups??? and lastly 3)......and...ummm... yeah thats it i cant hink of any other questions :animesmil

[color=#4B0082]As Boo said, it's a standard feature of the vB software, so it's just kind of there. We aren't making use of groups at the moment, so there are none to join. And, as far as I know, there aren't any plans to use them in the future.[/color]

Though I imagine it's something along the lines of some people being petty and getting into arguments over group X being better than group Y, etc. So for a board that tries to be open and friendly to everyone, groups don't really fit too well into the picture.[/color]

Don't listen to them. There are actually a bunch of secret cliques on OtakuBoards that you aren't allowed to join. :shifty:

[font=franklin gothic medium]Basically, Groups was something that vB kind of forced on us. It's not something we ever planned to include. The main reason was that we'd have to have Moderator or Administrator approval for each group - if everyone were making groups, you can imagine that it would take a lot of time for a staff member (or a group of staff) to actually go through all the approvals.

I wanted to ensure that the OB staff were dealing with moderating duties rather than approving people's groups all the time.

I can say, though, in the future we are going to revisit this idea and hopefully we can find a way for groups to be more effective. So it's not something that I want to avoid, it's just that I want to make sure we implement the concept properly. ^_^[/font]

I still think groups would only encourage all the little cliques that pop up. . . . Though I guess it [i]would[/i] be pretty awesome to have an actual group for Desbreko's Fangirls. :animesmil[/color]

lol :catgirl: i see what you are all saying. you are right there are always going to be the people who just want to make drama on OB but then again you have to actually think about the choice have a place where you can join a group and have your occational fights (between groups of course) or have none at all and then you just ont get much of an experience on the otaku bourds you know what im saying?? :catgirl:

[color=#4B0082]That's true, it would be good for those that see it as a fun little thing and nothing more. Kind of like the fanlistings you see around the net for various things. But those that take it too seriously make more work for the moderators, so there has to be some balance.
