Revolut1on
I think it all depends on whom the person is. I'm presonally not affected by the music I listen to at all, but I know that some people are. For example (and I hate to use this, but it the only thing I can think of right now) wiggers, white kids who listen to rap music and try to live out the fantasy. On the other hand, I'm willing to bet money that there are successful businessmen out there who listen to the same music, yet they don't behave any differently. NekoSama101
I have a bunch of gothic friends who listen to pop music and rap. in that case, it definatly doesn't change who they are. as for me, i listen to metal, punk, pop, and R&B, but i'm not anything like what i listen to. however, i have to agree with Revolut1on on this, the white rappers are definatly affected by what they listen to. another one of my friends was a white rapper person and me and a few other of my friends (yes, i have a lot of friends) got him listening to heavy metal and now he goth. he changed from gangster wannabe to goth kid almost instantly. Claire
Hah, well, of course I've been affected! I no longer breathe air - I breathe Rasputina. I get giddy whenever I'm near a cello, or whenever I hear one. If that's not proof enough, I have constant dreams about Rasputina. I think if I ever met them, I'd die. Other than that, I think music does affect how people act, in general.
Drausinus
Well, I am. I'm black and I listen to Rock. It just depends ont he person you are, and if you are, not to be mean, obsessive. If you are easily persuaded, then obviously you are going to be influenced to lead your lifestyle ina different way. The whole image thing plays a part too. Box Hoy
Yeah, it's affected me. Music has partially helped shape who I am today. I listen to alot of industiral, metal, rock, punk, and classic stuff. Overall people could probably make a claim that I'm a goth kid. It doesn't matter though because I'm not. I'm just in the other catagory. I don't mind mild rap every once and a while and there are some good country songs. All in all though the music I listen to has led me to a craving for loud aggresive shows, spending half my paycheck of new music, and a longing to make my own band.
Zen
I think an individual can be represented by what they listen to. That's not to say that an individual who listens to gangsta rap is a gang member. I mean it in the since that a person's musical choices can show what style or feeling they enjoy evoking into themselves. It can also show how diverse a person truely is. As for me, in my CD player right now is The Game "The Documentary", Nirvana "Nevermind", and Gorillaz "Demon Days". I have a varied list of music that I enjoy, though I will admit the majority is hip hop. No, I'm not one of those 'wigger' kids who dress up and try to 'act black' as most white hip hop fans are called. Me? I'm wearing a Napoleon Dynamite T-Shirt, some jeans and Red/White/Grey Nike's, at this very moment listening to "Like A Boss" by Slim Thug. The reason I listen to it? It's not because I'm all gangsta, it's not because Slim Thug is a great lyracist, it's because I enjoy the feeling it envokes into me. A feeling of just, feelin' good. Feeling like your on top of things and you can handle whats before you. So in my opinion, music may not affect the way we live, it can show what we are feeling, or what mood we enjoy being put into. - Big Bossin' Boss
