... um ... damn, and I was hoping this would actually be a political thread. Didn't the bulleted list clear things up easily enough?

Anyway, someone said to turn this into an everything political thread, I say sounds cool. We should start with 9/11 cuz it's got a movie coming out. I'll save my opinion for when I've seen some other people's feelings.

I agree 100%. But as a final note, if Papa Smurf says the name 'Ben Affleck' again I might kill myself ;P

I really do look foreward to seeing Flight 93. I hope it turns out to be better than Pearl Harbor. I actually thought it was quite the tear-jerker, and extremely good how it portrayed the stories of the characters. The only turn-off the movie had on me was that it simply felt extremely forced. I think that it would have been much better if the focus wasn't on one love story--That isn't really the best way to pay tribute to those who lost thier lives. It's exactly like Titanic.

Anywho, enough about movies, let's talk politics.

Oh, and I have a question semi-related, what's up with FEMA? I heard on some news channel or something that there were thoughts of disbanding it somewhere down the road. Because of what happened in New Orleans, or did I just hear wrong...? I have no clue, by the time I actually started listening the story was over. Has anyone else heard wind of this? I dunno. It may be a good discussionary topic though, if it's true. Mhm.

I personally have a problem with people butting in on one of my conversations with useless points that are supposed to end our arguments.

Useless conversations breed those kinds of points.
I'm hoping that wasn't sarcasm, Ziggy asked for someone to clarify the reasons why the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. It's quite interesting, because I never really knew why either.
The American trade embargos were also kind of the last straw of a series of events where the West shortchanged/coerced/'insulted' Japan from their point of view. The Triple Intervention after the Treaty of Shimonoseki, the Treaty of Portsmouth and then the increased Western barking at Japan's deeper pushes into China. There is a chain of events that goes pretty far back, well before World War II.
The Americans were blindsided, [b]didn't see it coming[/b'], around the same amount of people died, then there was the propaghanda.
Er, well. There is no concrete idea of how much American and British intelligence services/the administrations involved knew. They knew at the very least that there was an increased chance of a Japanese attack during the fall/winter months but there were no specific targets mentioned. Otherwise it's there is kind of a debate about how much the American's knew- even some conspiracy theories about it, lol.

One would hope otherwise, of course.

Politics it is!

I guess i'll start by voicing my opinion on 9/11. I think it was great! -___- ....of course that was a joke. 9/11 was a horrible day for Americans. The terrorists responsible should be held responsible and punsished accordingly. I can understand them having problems with our ways of life and i'm absolutely fine with them voicing their problems. It's when the killed people over the manner that everything turned around. Osama's a complete moron in my opinion. He didn't help his cause at all, if anything it made true muslims feels ashamed even be held in the same catagorey as those terrorists.

9/11 was a horrible thing, but i think that people over react to it a little in America. These sort of terrorists attacks happen all the time in many different countries. In some countries terrorist attacks are almost a daily occurance. And yet the American people seem unconcerned with those terrorist attacks and act like 9/11 was the worst thing ever. While i agree it's horrible, i also believe some people over reacted to it. It's because it happened to us and has never happened to us before that it was such a huge deal.

That's all i'll say for now. Later.
