Guest Prick Wizard
Hi there my names mike the elf as some of you might already know. I was just wondering, maybe there should be an otakuboards meet up open to all the nice people on otakuboards. It would be great for this community to finally meet up and get to know eachother. We could all pay a small fee to fund a venue for the night. We could all dress up as elves and have a themed party with fancy dress goblins and trolls. I'd still know if you were really an elf though. This would also be a great chance to meet pixie rich before he dies because apparently hiv IS (I repeat IS) actually deadly. Anyone interested? Currently on the agenda: A party in Elfwood 2006:

Top trumps for everyone: Fight balrogs, goblines and gnomes using bits of cardboard and use elements such as fire, ice, water and special elven powers attacks.
Free elven costumes for all. £20 per night booking fee
Meet a real life dwarve
Warhammer workshop: Professional warhammer painting and battle sessions
Get your fortune told
A bar to get completely hammered at
Serious suggestion, agenda items optional. DeathKnight
Ignoring the logistical/timing problems involved for many of the members I doubt that I want to attend any party that you're at, Wizard. Your topics are funny in a purposely-nonsensical way but I still think I'd punch you in the face within moments of meeting you IRL. Cheers.

And seriously, I doubt Pixie Rich wants his condition paraded all around the board like a charity. Seriously. Saying it would be a nice chance to meet him before he dies? How sensitive of you. I thought 'elves' were compassionate. On topic: An OB meet up would be wonderful but I doubt it could happen. The deviantART summit went wonderfully apparently, but I think that's a much better community to have a get together with on a large scale due to everyone's interest in art. Also, it cost a bomb, and most of the members here are only teenagers who couldn't afford to fork out that kind of cash.
Boo
£ is pounds, United Kingdom. ? is Euros, Europe. Thought I'd point that out. First of all, this is OtakuBoards, not Elfwood. Secondly, unless the meet up is somewhere in West-Europe, I won't come. And we all know there's no party without Boo. If you want a meet up, you could just announce to a few people nearby that you're going to some conference or festival, and you could ask them to meet there. The idea of a meeting is... interesting... but I'd hate to meet a lot of them and actually discuss certain subjects face-to-face. This meet up would become a massacre one way or another. For the sake of the unborn OtakuBoards generation, don't. >>'
Guest Ver2.0
Ya know what that sounds great all you have to do is pay for everyone's plane tickets, hotel rooms, food, and all the other expenses for thoseof us that don't live in the UK. something this large would never work considering the fact that the OB members live in many a different country. If you really want to meet some peeps from on here then I'd do like Boo said and just get together with a few peopel from here at a convention or something. Stark
Prick Wizard, I know that I don't know you well, but I'll be frank: No. No way is that going to happen, seeing as we're far too spread out and far too young to do something like that. Besides, I doubt that it would go well. There are people here who don't like eachother much, and I don't want to know what will happen if they see eachother face-to-face. Besides, your minor obsession with Elves is a turn-off. It sounds like you plan on immersing everyone in high fantasy, and not all of us are into that. Anime is anime, but there are tons of genres. For me, anything with Elves is a definent no-no. Sorry.
NekoSama101
I think that would rock. It'd be weird and different, but really fun. I only wish that i didn't live in the great USA. Either way, it sounds like a cool idea.
Fyxe
Though that would be... interesting, I would be incredibly lost and you never know, half of us could be creepy forty-year-old fat men that like child porn. ^_~ Besides, I'm already planning meet-ups with people I know a little more personally from my history on the OB. I'd rather spend my money to go see them instead of to see half a community of people I don't know. I send my apologies.
SunfallE
There are a couple of problems that I see with this thread. The first one being that OtakuBoards is not the place to advertise a get together, at least not as a subject of serious discussion. A good place for that Prick Wizard would be your signature. You could easily put a line in there stating that you want to meet fellow OtakuBoards members and that if they are interested to pm you for the details. The second problem is that the responses are simply a matter of expanding on why a member is either not interested or simple statements of why they couldn?t attend. Since a few members have also taken the time to respond to the idea of meeting fellow members I?m redirecting this thread to ?If you could meet other OtakuBoards members, would you?? I don?t know if I would actually go to a meeting where other OtakuBoards members were. But Adam mentioned on his site that it would be a neat idea to attend an anime convention where the members from myOtaku and OtakuBoards all wore matching T-Shirts with something like OtakuBoards on it. Now I could see attending something like that. Not only would you get to meet fellow members but enjoying the convention together would be lots of fun. Not to mention the stir we would create by wearing the t-shirts. :p

TheResplendent
If this little get together were in my area, than absoutely. I'm always willing to meet more otakus like myself (especially cute female otakus, heh). Something like this probably wouldn't happen on a large scale, not to mention i don't even think any of the normal posters here are from my area. Little chance of this becoming a reality due to circumstances aforementoined, but it's an interesting idea to ponder.
Papa Smurf
I would never meet anyone from OB; you're all too strange for me.
This is coming from the man who offers his nads up to get booted. ~_^ There are only a few people I'd like to meet from OB. I've already met one of them. The remaining ones will be required for a Smash Bros Revolution fight. Online will be nice, but I'm looking at actually seeing the facial expressions. Nothing personal against anyone but I?m not a fan of meeting online friends at all. But at an anime convention, well that would be another story. I know Panda attended one recently and I was wishing I could have gone and not only met her but a couple other members who attended. The T-shirt would have been pretty corny and funny. And since I?m not really into Coplay an OB T-shirt would be perfect. :p
Snowcat
WELL I think it's okay, but only if I see some friends. Cause I'm rather the youngest, and most likly to get into trouble
lea
Hmm. If I could meet other OtakuBoards members, would I? I've hung out with Charlie (Charles) numerous times, and I now find myself mentally scarred for life . Just... don't do it.

Delta
There are some members I'd like to meet IRL and then there're some I'd much rather not lay my eyes on. If you're planning an OB meet-up, how's about we hold it in some remote place in the South Pacific, like somewhere near the Pitcairn Islands. That way, we'll all go through relatively the same pains while travelling. This early into the planning, I would like to extend my condolences to those who won't be able to join the event because just before they reach the Island, they die first. Then we'll hold a quasi-Battle Royale to make it a bit more memorable. I'll rig an island up for you kids, just because I love you all. You need not be told that those who die will be summarily banned, of course, unless those who constitute the banning committee die first. As with the original BR, each of you will be given a survival pack with a random weapon inside. Yes, my loves, mod rods will be available and it's not necessarily the mods who'll get it. But in an island like that, I wonder how those equipped with mod rods will fare? You'll never know if you die first. And what's in store for the winner? Nothing. We'll just let him/her revel in the fact that he/she didn't die first. Stay alive, kiddies! :catgirl:
Funny Girl
I would love to meet other people on the otakuboards! :D Meeting new people is like meeting new frineds and it's great having friends when you need them! :D
Ol' Fighter
Hey come on guys we should show a little compassion for other I think I can say we are all here subconsiously to talk to someone or share ideas or whatever(I think) but I think a big meet up would be kinda....nice I guess, but I guess compassion died out decades ago :( .... Panda
Yes, my loves, mod rods will be available and it's not necessarily the mods who'll get it. [/COLOR'] :catgirl:
*looks in survival kit and finds: map, water, bread and....lid to cooking pot.* Oh man, I am so dead. :animecry: Despite being a BR fan I wouldn't really last very long at all. I would rather meet up with other members at a con....a nice safe anime convention. As mentioned before I love meeting up with other members of the site at conventions. I had a great time at Sakura-con meeting up with several members. If anyone is going to AX I'll be there too. As always, if you are going to meet someone you have met on line be sure to meet in a public place and never go alone. With so many wackos out there you need to think safety first. Be safe kids. There are many members of the site I would love to meet. If I had the time and money I would definitely travel to meet friends I've made on line. I have gone all over Washington, Oregon, California, Texas, Florida and Ohio to meet up with friends I only knew online. I really enjoy putting names (screen names) and faces together. Solo Tremaine
S'right. I'm going to be there this year too, heh. I saved up much money to afford the flight over and accommodation >.>; I'm always happy to meet members from OB, providing I know them first. Obviously, if a random person I've never seen or spoken to before asks to meet up then I'm going to decline. But I've met at least three other OB members now and none of them have been (more than mildly :p) harmful. It's just a case of being sensible about when (in terms of your friendship with them and how deep your trust runs, as well as general time of day) and where to meet.
