Stark
I'm honestly surprised that no one's made a thread about this little gem yet! Then again, it makes sense as it will officially be released this fall...I think. Even if rather quiet on the news front, Blood+ is one show definently worth looking into. The protagonist, the dark haired chick as seen above, is a high school teenager called Saya. Her life seems normal, except that she only remembers the last year of her life. However, with the advent of the strange vampire-like creatures called Chiroptera, and the mysterious cellist called Hagi, her life suddenly takes a hard turn to the left and nothing seems right any longer. If you were wondering, the girl is indeed Saya Otonashi. This series is supposed to be a follow-up to the OVA Blood: The Last Vampire. However, knowledge of the movie isn't necessary. I rather like Blood+. All of the characters are distinct and endearing in some way, and it continually adds more and more suspence and mystery to the puzzle. At 32 episodes in, with about 20 to go, I can easily say that I don't know where this is going any more. Besides, what can I say? I like Saya's big brother figure, Kai. What do you expect? I'm a junkie for those sort of guys...
Magus
I've heard very little about this but I wanted to check it out because it's done by the creators of GitS (or so I've heard) and I'm into the vampire themed animes. I've caught very little of its OVA counterpart mainly because it came on too early / late and my eyes were always heavy. Anyways, is it anything like the movie? That Kai fellow resembles Cunningham on IGPX.
The_Mix_Breed
That Kai fellow resembles Cunningham on IGPX.
REALLY! Wow, I definitly have to see this when it airs! Stark
Like I said, knowledge of the movie isn't necessary I haven't even seen the OVA, so I can't really say anything on that level. From what I've read on the infamous Wikipedia, there are a few key differences between the OVA and the series. But, I'll let someone who's actually seen the OVA be the judge on that. And Diablo, thanks for pointing that out. I never noticed the resemblence between Kai and Cunningham before! Funny, I like Cunningham the best out of IGPX...
WW2
I really liked the OVA movie that came out a few years ago...and I 've noticed they've started selling the Blood Manga and original novels as well. Since I liked the original so much..I'll probably have to check out the series. That is if they don't screw it up and try and make it into something like Trinity Blood. Kenshin DX
Ive only seen the first couple of episodes. But its a solid series great animation I especially liked the opening of the anime where
the main chacter butchers the entrie village
. My only problemis the pace can be a little slow at times. This series kind of reminds me of Elfen Lied in terms of animation and violence.
Fasteriskhead
It's a fine show, certainly far better than that overblown excuse for a tech demo that was the Blood movie. Get set for the long haul, though - the series is a full 52 episodes, and takes at least a dozen of those before it even finds its footing. It has a lot of trouble pacing itself (as previously mentioned), and also has a very bad habit of killing off many of its more interesting characters. The last episode I saw (32) particularly annoyed me in this area. However, if you give it legroom then occasionally the series can be downright brilliant, and there are a couple of these really spectacular episodes which rank among the best moments of the past year. You should also get used to Haji sawing his way through the fifth Bach cello suite over and over again, as the dude apparently does not know how to play any other piece of music. I guess he just keeps his A-string tuned down to G all the time, and is too lazy to tune it back to normal and try out some other music?
