This is my official first post on the site and I'm pretty excited haha. I surfed around the site and there are a lot of great artists here :animeblus Well, all of my drawings are hand-drawn by myself but the picture itself is not original (Google it heh) I can draw only with something in front of me, hence the thread title. My school theatre guild did 'Little Shop of Horrors' - it fell in the sink

The shirt was so hard to draw with a pencil and I couldn't erase it so its either I got it right the first time or its messed up; colored in with only Sharpies. It was the first time I drew on a shirt, I got the shirt the day before opening night so I only had one night to complete this. After rehersals, hw, shower, started at 12 and ended at 4am. The smell of Sharpies was unforgetable.

Her eyes are colored in but only seen in the actual pic in life.

These were all taken with a digicam so the flash killed off a lot of shading/thin lines

Welcome to the Otaku boards juders! ^_^ I like your work even if it is not original. ^_^I use to do imitation art also but I started doing my own poses just last year. ^.^

I would like to see more of your work and I hope to see some original work if you don't mind. :)

[SIZE=1]Most people can only draw with something in front of them at first, for about three years that's all I could do ^_^;; But after a while the techniques of the artists you are imitating start to sink in and you'll find it comes through in your own work. When I started drawing my own characters the Gundam Wing influence was so strong it looked as if I were just changing some points of existing characters.

You, however, are much better at copying that a lot of people I know >> That Belldandy picture especially impressed me. Your sketches are very clean, which is great, considering you're copying from a screenshot for the most part.

I am very impressed overall and wouldn't mind seeing more. [/SIZE]

You think that you can only draw with something in front of you, but I can see that your line quality is good and you do have great potential to be an illustrator. OMIGOSH!!! THOSE ARE, LIKE, REALLY SUPER DUPER GREAT! AND THE FACT THAT YOU DIDN'T TRACE THEM MAKES YOU AMAZINGLY SPECIAL!!!

[SIZE=1]Yes, I meant every single word in the rave above. The lines are clean and the distinction among their different widths, though subtle, enhance your drawings. You got shading down pat and your lettering is amazing too (I seethe with envy at the sight of the cursive script behind SD Hughes)!

Only critique for ya is that I want you to start drawing original stuff now. You seem really comfortable with imitating art, so it's time to branch out. I'm sure it'll be great, judging from the stuff you've already posted.[/color]

To tell you the truth though your Samurai Champloo ones. I swear I would have though that you were the artist for all the real thing. Those ones look just to good to even be true, and you didn't trace them even! I am just way to jealous. Goodness and there isnt any way that I can tell you how to improve, since you used already drawn characters to draw these. Wow.

I also can't draw without a pictured to draw from, and this has discouraged me many a time. You're very good though, very clean. At points I feel as if copying take no talent, but I've found that alot of people can't do it.

Whenever I try to make something original it always comes out totally different than what I had in mind, this is also very discouraging.

But as they said here, I guess it just takes practice, and getting used to different styles and such.

I think I'm gonna go try to draw something of my own.
