[FONT=Trebuchet MS][indent]Ready, set, DRAW! Welcome to the first annual Otaku Drawaca competition, a brother of Otaku Graphica. Instead of making computer graphics, you will be drawing freehand with pencils, charcoal, pastels, or whatever you may enjoy using. I'll have you go through several styles of drawing and several different challenges to doodle. You'll have a fair amount of days to draw the required art piece. If you think you're a good enough artist, throw down![/indent][/font]

[FONT=Trebuchet MS][indent]To enter the competition, simply post what you believe to be your best drawing or some of your best. I will need five artists for the competition and the best artists who sign up will make it in. Simple as that. But if you sign up, you better be commited. It ruins the competition for other participants if you don't make your deadlines and have to be cut by default.[/indent][/font]

Okay, folks. Your first drawing will be simple. Use any medium you wish to complete the task. The only thing I ask is that it's a futuristic space age alien in the middle of combat. Background, scenery, other aliens, and other stuff is optional. Good luck.

I would like to have had more time doing this but I'll be leaving for a convention tomorrow for the weekend, so here goes my entry. From what I understood CG is not allowed right? (first post on the thread), so here it goes, made using pencil, just used photoshop to take out the stains and the spots where i by any chance smeared.

i'll submitt a quick version I greated with a CG background, not to be taken into consideration.

Done with pencil/colored pencil. And yes, I do have a backstory for this picture. A few humans happened upon an alien planet in the year 2295, and some were killed by the creatures that inhabited it, as you can see in the drawing. The aliens feed on humanoid blood, and it lasts them for hundreds of years. The red diamond-shaped object on the alien's chest is where they store the fresh blood. The armor is connected to the veins that run through its arms. Its own blood is green in color. [/SIZE] [/COLOR]

Alright. I hope it's not too late. :) I was rushed since I thought I wasn't going to have enough time so i just fiished like 30 seconds ago. ^^' It's colored pretty badly but hey, i guess it's decent enough.

This guy pretty much has the same anatomy as a human man but the secret is in the inside. His brain has developed fighting style no human can imitate [sorry if it's lame. My brain is fried]. It looks like he's holding a regular gun [I can't draw guns to save my life] but that doesn't matter right?*shrug* He's supposed to have like dinosaur legs but i ran out of space. teehee. HIs hand is a little messed up but w/e.

[size=1]Sorry, guys. I've had a really rough weekend and I just got through with it. I can judge now. Though there isn't much to judge. Sadly one didn't post. You four that did remain in, but don't take a breather. Here's round two for [b]cancer, jigglyness, han ki-tae,[/b] and [b]The Boss[/b].[/size]

[size=1]This isn't an easy one. It's a big step up from the simple idea of round one. I want you to invent a cartoon character for a children's saturday morning cartoon show. This cartoon takes place in medieval times and involves a stupid dragon who keeps trying to take over this one particular castle. You may decide what character to make. It could be the main hero, it could be the king, or even another villain. Anyone, but the dragon (though feel free to draw him/her too if you wish). Make a medieval background for the image too, just to give it atmosphere. This will test your cartooning skills. Do [b]NOT[/b] draw realistically. It has to be cartoon. Any cartoon style is fine (Disney, Looney Tunes, Rocky & Bullwinkle).

[b]Due Date:[/b] Because of it being 4th of July week, some of our contestants (if not all) may celebrate the holiday. This can get in the way of the contest events, so I am making this round long. You have 'til July 8th. That's almost a week. Good luck.
