How do people really feel about the Dixie Chicks?

I'm home on a Saturday afternoon waiting patiently until I can go to the Casino tonight and wishing I could get the Dixie Chicks' new CD. I'm also remembering the whole piece about them on CNN back in May and all the controversy surrounding them Pre Iraq War 2003 when Natalie Maines (The group's lead singer) said that she is ashamed to be from Texas because that's where President Bush is from. Yes that was very interesting- I still remember the furniture store off base with a large sign proclaiming that they supported the troops and the President and an Auto Shop telling the Chicks to get out of Texas.

So now I'm really curious to find out if anyone has any opinions on the Dixie Chicks in any way. Music or political.

I for one like them, I have four out of their five CDs and have been a fan since they came out with Wide Open Spaces.

So other thoughts and comments.

Oi. Maybe somewhere deep inside me I enjoy their mild talent, but for the most part. I dislike them. When they redid that song Landslide or something. That made me reject them even more and acknowledging their existance is mildly painful. Though I'd pick them over Gwen Stefani, any day. Omg. -Spazzing from saying the G and S words- Ew. Ew. Ewwie ew ew!!

When I was younger, I used to listen to them all the time (then my love for rock overpowered my love for country). Personally, I think they are a pretty good band, and it shouldn't matter what you say, it should matter how good your music is.

I personally had no interest in the group, I mean I liked their music when I was growing up and all but never really paid much attention to them and their lives really. But when they went "missing" from the country music world for a while I was wondering what had happened to them. While listening to one of my favorite comedians Margaret Cho she mentioned what they had said about Texas and how everyone had hated them. I thought it was kind of stupid how because they hated to be from somewhere they get hated by everyone.

I heard their new song and saw their music video for it on the gay channel (Logo for those who dont know). I dont like it much but its good to see that they're still singing and making a career from their talent.

I'm indifferent to them. I don't hate the music that they make, though I can't say that I'm very interested in listening to it either. As for their politics, I'm no fan of George W. Bush (or the [strike]Neocon[/strike] Republican Party as it exists right now), but their backing of John Kerry and the Democrats didn't strike a chord with me at all (I've never really cared for them, honestly, and only considered supporting them for the vague, flimsy reason of "George W. Bush must not be in office anymore!!" Then I wised up, realized that I'd be throwing my vote away to a group I didn't even really support, and I [strike]threw away my vote in a different way[/strike] voted for a third party) .

I like the Dixie Chicks. I own two of their cds. I got them back before that whole political thing. I really didn't care about them saying all that stuff about the President. That day that they said that stuff my dad got really mad. He then told me that he didn't want to see or hear their music and that I couldn't play my cds. As of now though I still listen to them. My dad seemed to have calmed down and forgotten most of the stuff they said about the President.

They were my uber favorite when I was younger. About the time "Fly" was out.
I was brainwashed into loving country...but thats beside the point.

I was too young to even really care about polotics when they made their comments about Bush. I remember it being in the news and things, but never really cared.

I really like their new song,"Not Ready To Make Nice". It seems like they just want to get back to making music and put their past behind them.
