I hung out at theO because they had some seriously rockin' Digimon fan art. (This was back in the day, when there were really only two artists on the site at all.) I lurked around GinnyLyn's art for a while, and eventually contacted her; we became friends, and she convinced me to join OtakuBoards. March 2001, suckers. :p

It's been so long ago that it is all a blur. I mean. I first came to TheOtaku around 2000 looking at Digimon, Outlaw Star, and DragonBall Z stuff. When I got into Tenchi Muyo and Tenchi's Universe, Gundam Wing etc when they were airing it on Cartoon Network, I spent more time on the site listening to midis, printing pictures, and looking at epsiode summaries.

Around September, I joined here and I posted a few times in the Gundam forum. Then I left here and came back about two years later...where I met many new faces and a lot of old ones. (Some I hold dear to my heart to this day. You know who you are) I spent a lot of time in the .hack//SIGN forum as well as the other anime forums and RPGs.

Then MyOtaku came around. I was so excited when Adam announced the site's launching that I joined there immediately after a couple days, being one of the first to join.

When I'm bored or curious about what is happening here or any of it's sister sites, I come around. I don't come here as much as I used to but I post from time to time. I usually don't go to TheOtaku much anymore unless Adam posts something on his MyOtaku about it.

Yep, that's my story. Boring, isn't it.

It was a stormy night (no joke) and I was on the web looking for Naruto wallpaper's for my new computer. I stumbled across theO and saw links for Quizes and wallpapers and such. This was awsome in my mind, so I signed up. That was in September of '05, if I'm right! I joined the OB June 2nd of this year! Not much to it!

Well I?ve always enjoyed anime, though it wasn?t until in the last decade that I even realized there was a difference between regular cartoons and anime. Other than how they are drawn that is. I don?t spend much time online and since I?m not an avid anime fan I?ve never even tried to find or join a community that was centered on a shared interest in anime.

I know about OtakuBoards because my daughter is a member. After several months of her telling me I should join I finally did. Though I tend to read more than actually comment.

My story finding here isn't quite "long" and "exciting", at first I just wanted to search for a couple of Angel Sanctuary Wallpapers in Google and after a while I found this site. Then I noticed that it had a Forum, so I discided to join since I have a bit of a habit to join one if I find the site intressting.

I was helping my dad find some site that was gonna get him some type of connection to help him ship some crap he had and I said to me self,"What if there was a place called otaku.com or something", so I went to google for a sec and and say theotaku.com I believe and from there I wanted to learn more about it so I was clicking away and all of a sudden I found good old, anime loving, manga loving, japanaholic...OtakuBoards :) .

I'm sure not everybody here is addicted to Japanahol.

Like most people, I found this place through theotaku.com, which I was put onto by my brother. Since then I've spent immeasurably more time here than on theotaku or myotaku. Message boards > blogging, I reckon.

My brother and I were huge DragonballZ fans. When I was 13 I started searching the net for the best dragonball Z websites. A friend of my brother's gave him a list of good dragonball z websites, which included the theotaku dragonball site. So I payed a visit to it, and a couple years later submitted my fanart using the old primitve manner theotaku used for submissions: email.

After a while, the Adam started posting in the news how theotaku.com was going through a big change, a major cool update. I remember he had a date set for the launch, but they kept getting delayed because of glitches that needed to be fixed. Finally, it wa launched, and I joined myotaku as soon as I could.

After a few weeks, I decided to join otakuboards, because it seemed pretty cool too. Otakuboards is actually the first forum I joined.

well I met a girl in first semister first quarter of my freshman year of high school, and it turns out she's into anime, she gave me five sites to go to, and the first three were theotaku / myO and the OB.

since then I've become very comfortable here.

I have an otakuboards account and an myotaku homepage.

major props to her for giving me a place to express my view on things!

I used to post a lot on the now defunct boards at Anime Genesis and had a lot of fun there. I got into some good discussions and made some cool online friends there. But due to work and life I started posting there less and less, and finally the site was shut down.

Anyway, the other day I was thinking about how I kinda missed it, so I just did a search for anime on Yahoo and found TheOtaku.com. I liked the site and the boards, so I joined. I look forward to getting to know everyone here.

I was surfing the web after getting to this fight with a guy on the net about an anime show or something. I was tried of the Anime Forums I was going to so I decided to find a new one. (My old one was AdultSwim.) This one was the first to pop-up on the list of options they gave. So I checked it out and liked. Hehe. :catgirl:

Wow, this thread seems to be breaking off into two groups: The veterans, getting all nostalgic about the way things used to be, and the new members, pretty much giving their introductions. Makes me feel all lonely in the middle... I'm never one of the cool kids... [/very emo moment]

I was looking for a spot on the web where I could hang my hat and becomed immersed in so I looked up Pokemon RPG forums (Back when I played Pokemon on my GameBoy and I had my LV. 100 Eevee's consisting of the Eevee, the original three Eon's, and Espeon / Umbreon. I would fight off little kids with my 'Eevee force' and get in their faces when I beat them. My team kicked some serio.....

I got hurt on the job last year. So as a result I was stuck at home needing to keep my knee up while I got better. To help with the boredom of watching TV or playing video games all day long, I started browsing online through different anime forums. One of the members at one of the sites, mentioned myOtaku so I checked it out and signed up. I then realized that I misunderstood the person and came over to OB as I had been looking for discussions not a blog.

It?s probably a good thing I did since the other places, though the people were friendly, were just a glorified spam fest, and I had become disillusioned with online forums. It just seemed so pointless as the conversations were so lacking. So then when I returned to work, I still kept stopping by and now that my situation is different I visit every day.

It was the peak of the monsoon season, yeah? And all university activites slated for that day were cancelled. Everybody knew about it and to this day I wonder why the news never got to me.

So there I was, waiting for the next ride home in my pouffy red skirt and lacy top under one of those roofed stops that dot the university roads. The thing with these tropical monsoons is that it's almost always certain you're gonna have to buy a new umbrella after every storm. In an effort to hold my skirt down, I forgot to face the outer side of my umbrella against the wind. My umbrella readily converted itself into an upturned vessel that's useful only to the desert tribes of Africa during times of drought.

That did it. I bashed my umbrella against a nearby post 'til the stem broke and the fabric had a sizable tear across two of the eight sectors. Never mind that I was quickly getting drenched and the dark pigment from my mascara was running down my cheeks, I absolutely HAD to break something right then and there.

Then suddenly, the rain stopped. Or rather, the rain stopped falling on the spot I stood on.

"Miss, you're defacing public property."
A guy about my age stood behind me, holding his orange umbrella over us both. He smiled in a way that made me forget about the wrecked mass of metal and fabric in my hand and the taxi that was then rounding a curve to my stop.

You all have encountered enough implements of mass communication to have an idea of the movie-perfect relationship that may bloom from this chance encounter. But it was monsoon season and I had to get home quick.

"Shut up," I said. I hailed the taxi, jumped in and sped away.
To answer that question that has been bugging you since the first paragraph of this post: That anecdote is not even remotely related to how I became a member of OB. But it's a nice weather story, isn't it?

Back in the summer of 2001 I was searching for Zelda art on either Google or Yahoo, I forget which. For some reason theOtaku.com came up in the list of results. Why, I don't know, but the specific page that was linked to was the Pika Dance. Basically, it was a page full of animated Pikachu gifs with the Pikachu Chant from the Pikachu's Goodbye episode of the anime playing in the background. It was quite hypnotic. After sitting and staring for a minute I decided to bookmark the site--because I like weird crap like that--before continuing my search.

A couple months later I was looking around for a message board to join, but wasn't having much luck in finding one to suit my tastes. Most were either so huge that any post you made would be buried in a matter of minutes, or they were so small that they were practically dead. Neither extreme appealed to me.

At the time, I wasn't anything close to an anime fan (I was, and still primarily am a gamer), so I wasn't really looking for an anime board. But the Pika Dance was stuck in my mind (I was really into the Pokémon games back then), and I remembered there being a "Forums" link on theOtaku. I decided to check it out anyway, and to my delight I saw forums for Zelda, Nintendo, Final Fantasy, and other video games.

I lurked around for a few days, checking out the gaming forums, until I ended up joining on September 6, 2001. For probably a year or even longer I all but ignored the anime forums and just stuck to the gaming ones, occasionally jumping over to the General Discussion (aka Otaku Lounge) and Games & Stories (aka Adventure Square) forums as well. And then there was my stint in the introduction forum, but we won't go there. The rest is Otaku history.

It happened in 2004, but it didn't really come into play until last year...

Somebody at a different, all-purpose message board on a particular virtual pet site had posted something about how she took an InuYasha quiz at another site, and got Sesshoumaru as the result. I had put a post asking here where she got it, but I had no reply, so I went merrily on my way.

A few minutes later, I got a message on the site from her, saying where she got the quiz, and it was at theOtaku.com. I went to look, and browsed around to see what they had (at the time, there wasn't much). I took a few quizzes and left.

A few months later, that site stuck out in my head, so I decided to pay it a visit. And I was AMAZED at how much it grew! So I decided to make it one of my "to visit" sites.

Skipping ahead a few more months, I decided that browsing did no more good for me. It was then, a few days before Christmas of last year, that I joined, with OB here soon following.

And the rest is history. XD

So, everyone, tell me your biography: How'd you stumble across the Otaku trifecta (TheOtaku, MyOtaku, and Otakuboards)? I think it'd be interesting to find out which site everyone started with.[/color']
My story is rather simple. I had been browsing online, but I didn?t know which if any place I should join. So for the longest time I never joined any place. Then when I was visiting my friend SunfallE I saw that she had a myOtaku site and after asking her about it I joined. ^_^ Shortly after that I also wandered over to OtakuBoards and joined here as well. At first I didn?t do a lot, but the longer I?ve been here the more I love it. That and I need my daily dose of stalking Des. ;)
