Well, it's very simple. Pirates of the Carribean 2!!! Jonhny Depp :animenose , Orlando Bloom :animenose , and more! The sequal to one of my favorite none anime movies! Is anyone else going completely nutso waiting for this movie? Please share how your handling it in this thread! MomochiZabuza
Ah I want to see that movie so badly! The first one was so good even though I fell asleep the first time I saw it, but that wasn't my fault because I started watching at around 12:45 am and I had no idea it was going to be that long. And I was only 12. One of my friends didn't like the first movie because she says the
pirates that turned into ghosts creeped her out because they looked disgusting, she's a girly girl.
Dagger
I laugh in the face of bad reviews; I'll be seeing Dead Man's Chest at midnight. If it's basically The Jack Sparrow Show plus extra-loud explosions and bonus sword fights, so much the better. The first film was just great dumb fun to begin with, anyway. Okay, okay, I'll be honest... the real reason I'm psyched about it is because
Keira Knightley cross-dressing is going to be the hottest thing ever.
That, along with some nice buttered popcorn and peanut M&Ms, is all I'll need to enjoy the heck out of this movie. I'll probably edit in some comments--coherent or otherwise--when I get back. ~Dagger~
Lava Lamp
im dead excited about this film. im seeing it tomorrow, AND I CANT WAIT! i could care less about orlando bloom and keira knightly, all i care about is johnny depp. he is one of the best actors..... ever. i loved him in charlie and the chocolate factory (heh, i saw it 3 times in theaters, not including the 1 time i saw it in imax), and i felt his pain in edward sissorhands (dang that movie was good... it almost made me cry.....)
cancer
I've seen the movie a couple days ago, since I work at a cinema. It is good, and I can tell you there will be a third one. I won't reveal anymore here, since everyone's waiting for it. But it's pretty good, and definitely funny. I like it better than the first one.
BlackTigerGurl
I haven't seen the movie yet but I will later tonight. Hehe. My whole family and I are going crazy just to see the movie. We had to purchase our tickets early just to make sure we would get a seat. My mother is so crazy about the movie she bought us both matching T-shirts with Jack Sparrow on the front. We also heard the movie theater is having a like a Caribbean Party where you get to dress up as a pirate from the movie. You then get to sit in the theater dressed up as a pirate. Lol. We just got our outfits yesterday. Mother and I went digging around to see what we would expect from the movie and we found out something pretty deep. I can't tell you what it is because it would ruin the movie possible. But it has to do with Jack, Will, and Elizabeth. I want to see if it happens though. Hehe. I also know for sure there is going to be a third movie right along with the series. Found that out by digging around. I know the title and what it's possibly going to be about. Hehe. I just can't wait until 7p.m. I'm just counting the hours to see it. And people who already seen it, don't spoil it for the rest of us!
Dagger
Ah, forget editing. This movie deserves its own post. <3 I had about two issues with it. First of all, the beginning had me a little worried, but as things got underway, I leaned back in my seat and breathed a huge sigh of relief. Secondly, some of the serious action scenes--particularly those involving
the Kraken
--were longer than they had to be. And that's it. Those points aside, I loved Dead Man's Chest. One thing that surprised me and which I particularly liked is that it didn't use the character of Jack Sparrow as a crutch. If anything, the roles of the three leads were much more balanced in the first film. And please excuse my (censored) French, but Elizabeth ****ing rocked.
The part at the end when she outsmarted Jack and handcuffed him to the ship practically vaulted her past him in terms of sheer coolness, as far as I'm concerned.
Comedy-wise, my favorite parts were probably the
cannibal island
scenes and everything related to the big
treasure chest
chase, starting from when
Norrington, Jack and Will began fighting.
Speaking of which, I was rather impressed by how they incorporated characters from The Curse of the Black Pearl. I mean, I definitely didn't expect
Norrington
to have such a significant part, and even though I knew that
Barbossa would make some kind of appearance, I was blown away when he showed up at the very end. What a kick-*** way to leave us hanging.
I was also happy about how the
love triangle (well, yeah, kind of) developed.
It was done in the best and most non-annoying way possible. The theater I went to was mobbed. I don't think I've ever seen such a long line (or so much cosplaying!), not even when I saw the LotR films at midnight. Of course, Dead Man's Chest has the advantage of being a summer release. But all that aside, I'm kind of surprised that you guys had to find out about there being a third film. They filmed Dead Man's Chest and most of the third movie simultaneously, so it wasn't really supposed to be a big secret or anything. :animeswea ~Dagger~
Dragon Warrior
Hah, not me. I already am well aware there is to be six films in the series. I've been psyched about the second one, for sure, but also the third, which is to come out Summer 2007. No, it's not a big secret. In fact, you can read a clip of the plot on Internet Movie Database, for goodness sake. Having said that, I loved the movie. Best movie of the year, and not just 'cause it's Pirates. It was just so overwhelmingly amazing and well done. Like Dagger said, it was wonderful to see old cast members making their returns.
Norrington I particularly liked in this movie. I was pleased to see him more of a badass scoundrel like Jack than an uptight man of war like in the first film. I was even happier to see him join Jack's crew, especially when it caused humorous quarrels between the infamous Sparrow and his old enemy James. But I didn't figure it'd last long, even if I wished it would. I'd love to see Norrington stay a crew member, but good things must come to an end. It's a shame he turned in the heart in the end. I wonder if he gets his spot back?
The action scenes were delicious, even though some may run longer than they should. Then again, I can't get enough of them, drawn out as they may be.
The three-way sword fighting between Jack, Will, and James was amazing. It was funny, thrilling, and beautifully choreographed. When I saw it in the trailer, I knew that part would rock, but I wondered why Will and Jack were fighting each other. Now I know.
I see now that Davey Jones looks quite real. In fact, sickeningly real. I don't think the crew looks as real as him, but it's definitely some amazing effects.
Why is the monkey still undead?
I called a lot of the stuff that happened in the movie.
I knew Bootstrap Bill would appear, I knew there'd be some awful cliffhanger that's so deliciously evil to have, and I soooo called Barbossa coming back in the end, not to mention captaining a ship for the good guys. Don't ask me how I guessed, but I suppose I'm right. Haha.
Don't get me wrong, though, a lot was a surprise. I was so on the edge of my seat the whole time. Aside from when I had to smack my friend Stephanie for oogling Orlando the whole time. There's so much to be said, but I can't go on forever. I'll let someone else throw in two cents...
Jakehammaren
Bwa ha ha ha! I saw it two days ago! Working at the theatre rules. Anyway, I don't feel like writing a lot. Just know that it's better than the first. And I was all pissed at how they were pronouncing Kraken wrong, but then (and this doesn't spoil anything, so this doesn't need spoiler tags) two pirates argue about how to pronounce it. So my only complaint vanished. The movie ruled, hands-down. Oh, and just for the record: Davey Jones is a freakin' BAMF. I hope we get to see more of him. (If you don't know what BAMF stands for, you need some serious Dane Cook schooling)
Blayze
I saw this movie yesterday, and I thought it was just as good as a lot of other people have said. The returning cast,
including Norrington and what little we saw of Barbossa
were all fantastic, and Bill Nighy as Davy Jones was definitely a welcome addition to the cast. I was expecting
Bootstrap
to be in it, but I wasn't expecting him to appear so early on in the film, although when he did I thought it might have been Jack dreaming. The
three-way sword fight between Jack, Will and Norrington was particularly good. It must have taken some choreography to get all that right, especially when they were on the water-wheel. However, I'm kind of glad that no-one won the fight in the end.
There were also some especially fantastic lines from Jack Sparrow (as if I could have expected any less). The
"Look! Undead Monkey!"
was rather amusing, as was "I want my jar of dirt." Also, I'm pretty certain that
Norrington will be back in his position by the time of the next film, as on the IMDB he is cast as "Admiral James Norrington."
I think that the next film is coming out at the end of this year, as they have finished filming it, they just need to complete the editing. I'm seeing a Matrix Trilogy-type situation here, although, unlike the Matrix trilogy, this sequel was good.

I liked him as a scoundrel more than a man in the service. Damn.
Now we gotta wait for the third one... Gavin
Interesting, most interesting. Well I'm just back after Dead Man's Chest and I have to admit I thought it was a little long winded for it's own good. Now before I'm made to walk the plank by legions of Sparrow fangirls my main gripe with the film was
that I have some inkling by about, oh I don't know, an hour and a half into the film that it was going to be only one more segment in a growing franchise. Now to me, if a film is going to be 150 minutes long, it better hold my attention well and have some chemistry between it's lead male and female character couple.
I mean there was
absolutely no chemistry between Knightley and Bloom, and even less between her and the so-called third member of the love triangle Captain Sparrow. So really that whole bit to the film was a yawner for me, and I hope in the next film they can iron that out a bit.
Knightley's whole performance for me
seemed a bit off for some reason, I don't know whether it was that she seemed too different from the character in the first film, or just that the script wasn't well written for her, but it reminded me a lot of Padmé from the Prequel Trilogy. I mean surely someone might have noticed her on the boat when she stowed away to get to Tortuga, were those guys that long out at sea ?
Orlando Bloom,
I don't know, but there's something about him in a film that involves him being a "manly man" that just doesn't wash. In fact the only film I've seen him in that I liked was Kingdom of Heaven, his acting here just doesn't have any impact compared with the other actors. He did well enough I suppose, but there's just something about him that seems very boyish and lacking any kind of real masculinity.
Now moving on
from the dead wood of the film, Captain Jack was as usual his highly entertaining self, although I'm glad to see that he did appear rather more self-centred this time around, there's nothing worse than a pirate with a conscience. The way he so completely callously sent you Bill over to "settle his debt" was great, and that his soul was worth 100 to Davy Jones, which is a fair assessment of his performance on the whole, as more so than ever he was the
driving point behind the story. Moving to the new additions and returning cast, I thought
Bill Nighy did quite a good Davy Jones, but can?t compare in my mind to Captain Barbossa from the original, there can only be one immortal POTC villain and Barbossa?s my favourite. His return at the end of the film was met with a cheer in the cinema and I had to heartily agree, Hector?s back
and we?re glad for it.
The Voodoo Lady from the swamp, though clearly lifted from Monkey Island was great, and strangely even with her bad teeth, quite attractive. I was kind of half hoping there might be a talking skull thrown in there for the sake of humour
but we can?t have it every way. I have to admit
I wasn?t expecting Norrington to show up again, or rather I suppose I should say I wasn?t expecting him in that incarnation, while others weren?t too fond of his the Commodore, I have to admit I myself was rather fond of him. This new, laid low Norrington however was unexpected but quite entertaining, and his final act at the end of the film sets him up to have to decide to either eventually cast off the title of Admiral in the next film and regain his honour, or to serve for the sake of a title.
Either way I can?t wait to see what happens.
Bootstrap was a very welcome addition to the film, I knew he'd have to appear, seeing as he was immortal throughout the whole first film, which is one thing I didn't get about why exactly he signed on with Davy Jones' crew, after all he couldn't exactly drown under water. The fights scenes were great, I mean that three way fight on the church and later water-wheel was excellent, I wasn?t sure who I was rooting for through most of it. The second part between Knightley and the two pirates who?s names escape me, was great as well and very funny.
The CGI was also great, I mean you couldn't possibly think any of it was real, but at the same time it did look very real, if that at all makes sense. Overall I liked it enough, but I don?t think it was better than the first film. I wouldn?t rush back to see it, but it has put me in a piratey mood. Yar, avast, get me grog and wenches.
BlackTigerGurl
Six films? Isn't that a bit overkill? As far as I know, Pirates of the Caribben is suppose to be a trilogy. To me, and a few others that I have told of, think six films will be a bit overkill. I would like to see where you got this information from. Would it be okay? Okay, I saw the movie today and it was awesome! I loved the way they did the make up and costumes. Everything seemed so...real. The movied kind of freaked me out here and there. One part that grossed me out was when
Jack opened the chest and the heart was actually there, beating.
It looked so realistic that it was disturbing. Eww. I don't think the movie was better than the first, however. I felt as if Jack didn't speak that much. In the first one, he spoke a lot but in this film he didn't talked less. Pitty. Well, I have to go to bed. It's late. I''ll discuss more on this matter later.
Fyxe
I went to see this for the special midnight viewing. I have to say, I was somewhat disappointed, actually. I think one of the major issues with me was the length. The plot and chemistry between the characters didn't hold my attention for very long. It started to stretch out, and my patience wavered quite a lot throughout the movie. Don't get me wrong, it definitely had it's moments, as I knew it would. It just... wasn't as exciting and humorous as the first one, though. I am impressed, though, that they built this all off of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Disney World. I rode that a few years back, and it wasn't the most captivating thing. So, Disney obviously gets props for that. Now, to get into the finer points.... I was rather satisfied with the casting. Orlando Bloom actually surprised me in this one, his performance wasn't as wooden as it was in the previous movie. Yet, something about his performance bugged me, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Keira Knightely just annoys me in general, so we won't even venture into that subject. I do find it amusing, however, that they had to "paint" on her cleavage when she was wearing that dress during the beginning of the movie. Silly. Johnny Depp, of course, did brilliantly. Who doesn't have a fan girl-a-tude or heterosexual man-crush on Captain Jack Sparrow? Honestly. I do have to agree on the sword fight scenes. I loved every single one of them, there was enough intrigue, fancy footing, and clever dialog in between to catch your eye and keep it for the duration. I just adore the costumes and sets. It all flowed together perfectly, and those pirate outfits never fail to sexify the whole cast. What I'd give to go to a Renaissance Festival outfitted in complete pirate garb. Anyway. There were plenty of pluses and minuses to me for this film. The ending did keep me interested, though. And there is no doubt in my mind that I'll see the third installment. I think my major issue was the length and how, at some points, it really failed to keep me entertained and interested. I'm just hoping the next one will make up for this slight letdown. In all, I liked it. But I'm not so sure I'll be seeing it again soon. I DO want to strut around in some boots now, though.
SaiyanPrincessX
I've been looking forward to this movie for months, and I finally saw it. I agree with Bláse, I too was a little dissappointed. It just didn't really live up to the first one for me. The cast was great, don't get me wrong. I love Jack, his unique personality is what makes the movie so great. Along with the awesome dialog and costumes of course.
However, the whole Davey Jones fish face crew kind of got on my nerves. I think there were too many special affects to where it kind of got rediculous.
Of course I do reccommend seeing it, for it is Jack Sparrow. But I don't think I'll be seeing it a second time in theaters. Regardless of my quirks with it, wallpapers and whatnot will still ensue. ^_^
Dragon Warrior
I probably should have better phrased that. Johnny Depp spoke in an interview that he'd like to make six films and the creators were somewhat considering it and liking that idea. Of course, he may not feel that way after making "Dead Man's Chest" and "At World's End" ;)

BlackTigerGurl
I just recently read that the director of the movie was closing down the whole pirate thing but Jonny Depp is still keeping the door open for anyone that wants to continue with it. "By the end of the third one, I'm hoping there's no reason to ever make a pirate movie again. Depp, however, is leaving the door open a crack: "You don't want to be Rocky 12 certainly. But you never say never."-Verbinski. That's from the 'Entertainment Weekly' magazine. Now back what I was saying the other day. Of course I had a few problems with the movie here and there. Like one scene I didn't really fancy:
Where Elizabeth kissed Capt. Jack Sparrow then cuffed him to the ship. Afterwards, she looked like she was all the depressed even though she told him it was for the better. I'm confused. Does she have feelings for him?
I also thought that they tried to make the movie a bit to commical. Some parts were funny but then some were just plain out stupid. Now I'm curious to see what happens in the third movie.
Now that the crew has been reunited with their worst enemy and that he is captian, what will happen?

But ignoring all of the unresolved sexual tension and so forth, there's also some fairly concrete evidence in the form of the compass and her exaggerated dismay about where it keeps pointing.

Basically, she cares about the Captain, but she also judges that they'll all die if he comes with them. She kissed him to distract him (although she obviously enjoyed it too, haha) so she could handcuff him and thereby offer him up as a sacrifice. It was for the better, considering how many lives would have been lost otherwise, but that didn't mean it couldn't have been painful for her. Especially since she was the only one who knew that his remaining behind wasn't voluntary.
Anyway, I hope that helps clear up some of your confusion. :) ~Dagger~
Dragon Warrior
Dagger said what I was basically going to say.
Wouldn't you feel like an asshat if you screwed someone over like Elizabeth did to Jack? Whether she has feelings for him or not, she's still going to feel awful knowing what she did to him. Plain and simple. Obviously Jack will be back, but I wonder how this "love triangle," as so many of you call it, will turn out.

Dragon Warrior
That'd be one of the most surprisingly moves the filmmakers could do--breaking Will and Elizabeth. In honest truth, you know in the end they'll be together. Jack and her could never be. There'd be too much complaint probably if Liz and Will broke up anyways. Man, I sound like I'm talking about a real couple here...
BlackTigerGurl
Yeah, it seems pretty clear that Jack and Elizabeth couldn't be. kalon
There's always the chance that the obsessed, crazed fangirls get their dreams fulfilled and
Jack and Will get together.
Which has a really good chance of happening if
every executive at Disney suddenly becomes a crazed yaoi fan girl who pairs two guys together even though they are just friends. Because, as every yaoi fangirl who pairs straight characters together knows, if two guys appear in the same scene together, they're automatically gay.
For my serious, real opinion regarding all PotC fictional romance, no one seems like they should be paired with anyone. Unless it's the joke couple above. Even in the first movie, I could not see Elizabeth and Will together as a couple. They just seemed too different, and not the "opposites attract" type of different. You know Disney is going to
pair Will and Elizabeth together in the end, though, because as DW put, there'd be too much complaint if they broke up.
And on the off chance Disney does something a little more original by
pairing Jack and Elizabeth, I can see them breaking up after a month. They'd get on each other's nerves.
It does feel weird talking about them like they are real people, doesn't it? ;) So basically, I've said pretty much what everyone else has on this couple. Why am I here again? By the way, I'm one of those crazy fangirls most of the time, but at least I can see how crazy it is.
