Ellerby
So I was sifting through Play It, looking through some of threads when I was shocked to realize there wasn't a Wario Ware: Smooth Moves thread yet! Therefore, I made one. This is (as it has been announced officially by Nintendo) one of the Wii launch titles. And I'm happy for that. Wario Ware (in my opinion) has always been a series that you just kind of rent, play for a week or so, and then bring it back to the game store. Though if someone baught it (which I will be with Smooth Moves) I wouldn't be surprised. The game's freaking addicting, lol. It has great, creative, levels and with the new Wiimote, those levels will be even more creative and fun than before. So, will anyone else be getting this game? And is anyone else excited about it? A group of girls playing Smooth Moves. Notice how she has to hold the controller to complete the level. FUN! Videos of Wario Ware: Smooth Moves can be found here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What the crap? Am I the only one that's going to try this game when it comes out? Come on. The game looks decent enough to post about. The multiplayer would be quite interesting (especially if they forced you to use one Wiimote, hah).
Syk3
Sweet. I picked it up today and have been playing it for the past couple hours. As you can imagine, it's definitely a lot of fun, even though I've essentially unlocked all of the one-player areas already.. I think. lol But that merely requires the completion of a boss battle in the 12 main destinations in Diamond City, each with their own character. Apart from that, there's a stage that encompasses games from all of the destinations, a stage that seems intended for fitness (believe it!), and 5 minigames. There's also another part of the city devoted to multiplayer, so who knows what treasures lie ahead there. Right now, I have to mention the instruction segments which come up whenever you have to hold the controller in a new way. They're halarious. lol I'm not even going to attempt to do justice in repeating them, and they're kind of difficult to explain, but basically.. each way you hold the controller has a specific name, such as The Umbrella, The Sketch Artist, and The Samurai. The names correspond to where the controller goes in relation to your hand and/or body, and these instructions I'm mentioning usually incorporate the name in some cheesy or exagerated way. If anyone knows where these videos are, let me know, but I don't see them in the Movie Theater.
Ellerby
Oh thank god. Somebody got it. I was a little scared about buying it right away and I haven't had time to rent it so i was waiting for somebody here to address my concern with the game. Is the multiplayer good? Cause that's basically all I care about.
Shinmaru
I got the game a couple of days ago. Believe it or not, this is the first WarioWare game I've played. Based on my experience here, I seriously need to pick up the other games in the series lol. The games are great fun, and the random, surreal imagery cracks me up. I like all of the different ways that the Wiimote is used as well. One of the complaints about that I read in EGM was that it's cumbersome to switch positions every five seconds, but it's not as if they're complex or anything. They spoke out against the goofier positions, too, which I think misses the point of the game. You're supposed to look like a complete goofball playing the game lol. As for the multiplayer... well, it's sort of annoying in that you can only use one controller to play, meaning that you must pass the Wiimote around as turns switch. That hasn't messed up any of my multiplayer games, but I've been playing with a relatively small group of people. When the multiplayer parties get large, I'd imagine that it gets tougher to coordinate things. So that's one aspect of multiplayer that's disappointing. Still, it's fun to continuously switch around and play the games. I completely agree with Syk3 about the stance explanations, by the way. They slow down the game a bit, sure, but they make up for it with their hilarity. I love the announcer's voice... it's so dry and serious lol. I, too, would be interested in seeing those movies again without having to play through the levels if anyone finds out how to do that. EDIT: My brother found out how to do it. You go to the Form section in the Temple of Form, click on whatever form you want to see, and then click on it again once your in that form's section (I hope I made that confusing enough for everybody!). Ellerby
I rented this game a few days ago and beat it in an hour and a half. I was disappointed. However Wario still came through. The game really shows what it's got through replay value. Even though I beat it a couple days ago, I'm still having just as much fun with it today. There are also a lot of unlockables so if you do beat quickly like I did, you've still got some work to do. Having to change forms every micro-game is fun. You finish the first micro-game and then you get all excited about what will pop up next. The forms themselves are incredibly goofy (as Shin said) but that makes it all the more fun. Some of them are okay (ex: The Janitor, The Chauffeur) while others make you look like a complete dumbass (ex: The Mohawk, The Elephant). The multiplayer is good. Passing the remote around every turn is kind of annoying (unless you're playing the bomb game - that's fun) but it doesn't really worsen the experience.
