I acually heard of Orange Range before.
My brother mentioned them yesterday acually.

I am acually surprised no one has mentioned Do As Infinity...
They make the Inuyasha music. They have some others, but I am acually surprised at this.

But there are others...

Ali project are great.
I like Japanese music. I listen to it alot :)
But both of those ^ up there are great to me. Search out some music from them, you might enjoy, you might not. Try anything once right?

Welcome to OtakuBoards, CyberPandaLove.

The current post quality in this thread isn't quite up to our standards. It's fine that you want to share your musical interests, but please give us an explanation as to why you like the music you do. And "It's very good" doesn't count. How does it make you feel? What are the lyrics or instruments trying to convey? How did you come across this music? Answering questions like that are your best bet when it comes to threads like these.

(Enjoy your stay, CPL)

I'm not really into Japanese music, but I absolutely adore Yuki Kajiura's music. I first heard it on .hack//SIGN, and it drew me into the show (it remains my favorite anime of all time). I'm an aspiring composer myself, so I can look up to Yuki's work. It amazes me how talented she is. My favorite songs are "BT," "Grandpa's Violin," "Labyrinth," "A Stray Child," and most others from the .hack series. She's just a really great composer who worked on a really great show.

Japanese Music is a guilty pleasure of mine. ^_^ I usually get J-tunes through animes.

My mom baught me the Naruto Greatest Hits. It's a really good CD, it's got my favorite song, "Ima Made Nande Mo" by Mass Missile, and all the other awesome Naruto OP's and ED's.

Lets see, what else to I have here....

TM Revolution of course... Invoke was probably the first J-Pop song I ever got really addicted to. I love Ignited too, it just makes me want to boogie around my apartment (which I do). I learned all the words too. Took a while but now it's even funner to boogie too.

I really like angela's songs for Soukyuu no Fafner. "Shangri-La" makes me want to dance, and "Seperation" is such a touching song...

I like alot of the songs from Inu Yasha... Dearest, Come, both songs by Do As Infinity... as well as the opening and ending for Fullmetal Alchemist.

I also have alot of L'Arc~En~Ciel, Luna Sea, HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR and some Porno Grafitti and Utada Hikaru (I LOVE Devil Inside, from her english album. The guitar with the shamisen, AWESOME!).

Gotta love anime music. Firstly, anything by The Pillows is super nifty. They do the FLCL music, which is all beautifully crafted punk-rock music. The Seatbelts (Yoko Kanno) are pretty cool... I like some, hate some, mostly though I simply adore the Real Folk Blues and Rain from the Cowboy Bebop soundtracks. Also, there is some great Rurouni Kenshin songs, the number one of them all being Shukuteki Kenzan! and 8:30 minute metal song. The Boogiepop Phantom CD is a techno masterpiece.

Although this is probably not what you were expecting, there are two Japanese hardcore bands that I am big fans of: Envy and Naiad. I don't know much about Naiad, as one of my friends burned me their cd and information on them is tough to find. Envy in particular is very popular among American fans of the Screamo genre. They gained popularity here after the supergroups Hot Cross and City of Caterpillar toured Japan with them.

Both Envy and Naiad have this way of building up heaviness, then letting go into atmospheric segments. It may be worth your time to check them out. :)

My love for japanese music has only been recent. I'm currently hooked on the band UVERworld. I just like the rock beat and the drastic changes in beat to there songs. They seem to turn on a dime from this light, very pop kinda feel and a very punk rock-ish kinda feel all at once. My favorite songs from them are "Chance", "D Techno life", "Shine", "Just Melody", and "Prime". Ther some great songs and I just can't seem to get tired of them. I blame the anime Bleach, which is how I even found this band. Damn them!

I adore the pillows and any music involving Yoko Kanno (who may or may not be Gabriela Robin). Hearing the Cowboy Bebop music literally wakes me up and spurs to go into my living room and watch the show no matter the time. I would kill to have the complete Bebop Sound track. My latest attraction to her music is the stuff she wrote for GitS.

The pillows are my favorite band bar none, but it's really unfortunate I can't get any of their older CD's. My favorite song varies, making it an equal tie between the dark song [I[STALKER, the softer, slightly sad sounding Carnival, the stirring Last Dinosaur, and the "give me more love" song Moon Margeurite. Actually, I should just list every song as my favorite. They have such a good range of style. Even their lighter, more "pop"-ish stuff sounds good to me. Sawao Yamanaka has a good voice. I even love the songs tht make no sense whatsoever in English. RUNNERS HIGH, anyone?

Others include L'Arc~en~Ciel, Asian Kung Fu Generation--favorite from them is Re: Re:--and most anime music. BTW, does anyone know who sings the opening on Serial Experiments Lain?

Japanese music is easiest to listen to for me probably because I like things that are different from my own cultural music, I've taken a liking to Ayumi Hamasaki, I like her because of her variety of creativity in her songs, Utada Hikaru mainly by her flowing lyrics and soft melllow beats so far that I have researched, Asain Kung Fu Generation, because its all out there and I can't get enough, and BoA by the style in which the beats have pauses and accelerates without warning.

I also like just about any type of anime music as long as it is not like the theme song from Hamtaro. I also have a liking for a great deal of DDR music, being more specific of my utmost fave, Naoki.

Forces of Nature rule! ya gotta love "Battlecries"! i also like ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION. "Haruka Kanata" is an awesome song(from Naruto) and Reweite(from Fullmetal Alchemist). other good bands are Orange Range(Naruto, Bleach), Stance Punks(Naruto), Flow(Naruto, Eureka 7), and Analog Fish(Naruto).

other general bands/singers i like from Japan are the Pillows, Yoko Kanno, Melt Banana, Namie Amuro, Puffy AmiYumi and several others. their songs are just so catchy and addictive! they also helped me learn some Japanese!

another band i was recently introduced to was Dir en Grey. They're creepy!! but in a good way! they rock!!!!!

well, i had fun here! i should come back soon!

I listen to Japanese music, but not so much j-pop.

In my opinion the greatest bands are Dir en grey and D'espairs ray. As others have already stated they are very hardcore. But I don't only like them for their music, also their visual style, they are visual kei bands after all.

Funny... I was listening to Predilection by Yamaguchi Keppei just as I stumbled across this thread.

I'll usually only listen to J-pop if it's on an anime soundtrack, but I do love it! I think my favorite artist's Kotani Kinya... my, how Gravitation has corrupted me (Nittle Grasper, anyone?). But have you ever seen a picture of the guy? He's so cuddly! And I just love his vocals... they make me all melty. XD

Ayumi Hamasaki is my favorite Japanese music artist. The different styles of her songs really appeal; it's not all rock but not a bubblegum-pop style..but still manages that pop-ish sound but it isn't really too bad. She can experiment, and even if it doesn't appeal at first, I find myself always growing onto the songs. Her voice isn't the most beautiful, but at least she can pull off singles that have kick *** remixes...(Most of the time).

Do As Infinity are a nice band too listen to also; Tomiko Van has a wonderful voice and it sounds really good with the melodies and instruments. I only bought two albums, but hey, I can't get everything.

Other artists/groups I can recall that I like are also Hikaru Utada, Gackt, GLAY, GLOBE, Nami Tamaki and Koda Kumi. I would think Peelander Z would count too; those guys are crazy.
