Retribution
Hello all. I'm designing a few banners for a site of mine, and I wanted some feedback on these. Keep in mind that the following will be used on a website (in the header), and that the color scheme will be revolving around them. jigglyness
I like the first two the most. The last one, the first two panels, seems a bit too saturated. maybe tone down the colors a little. The really like the colors used in the first one. I think it would make a really nice header banner. As for the second one, I like how all three panels have some form of clouds on it. It's very calm feeling. I like it.
boothten
Personally, I like the second one best. It just seems more natural than the other two. The last one, like jigglyness already said, just seems too saturated. The first one is also well done, but may I suggest you leave the telephone poles black (or whatever color they were originally.) Unless they look horrid in black. In which case, leave them as they are. ;D On those slightly transparent rectangles in the first image, are you planning on putting links there? Just a thought...
James
I like the first one the best, mostly because I think it is the most vibrant. I'm not sure what the point of the urban theme is, so I can't really comment on that aspect, except to say that I think it works best in the first image because it's more abstract - in the latter images, you've got frames with imagery that doesn't seem to be particularly related to the subject matter. However, in the second image, the third frame does look really good; I think the clouds behind the logo give a fresh and airy look (almost in contrast to the urban visuals on the first two panels). The third image seems to be going for a RGB type of colour scheme, but there's something wrong with the saturation and lighting there...it gives the image a kind of unfinished neon look. The second image is a bit more understated, which somehow seems more appropriate (I think it fits your visual style a lot more, since you generally seem to emphasize typography and minimalist elements).
Retribution
Thanks for all the speedy and quality reponses. I personally thought they were all rather boring, and I was suprised when you all thought that #2 was the best. Interesting. And Lan, I didn't plan on using the lighter squares on banner 1 for links, but it's a good idea. I might pursue that. Here's another, tell me what I'm doing right and wrong. [link 4] [link 5] [link 6] Thanks again!
James
I personally like #4 the most, primarly because I think it has a good light and dark balance compared to the other two. The colouring here almost looks like the original colouring...it seems more natural. #5 is good, but a little more aggressive. Might possibly be too dark on CRT monitors (depending on the look you are going for). And I guess I like #6 as much as I like #4...it only really comes down to colouring preferences I suppose. The only issue I really have is that the "D" in all of these images is quite pixelated. Perhaps applying anti-aliasing, or some kind of slightly softer edge, might be a good solution there.

I'm guessing I might have to just cave in and manually soften the edges. I know it's hard to do so without some sort of context, but how do you think any of these would look within a layout? Hopefully I should be able to post some samples to give you all a better idea of what I'm mentally planning.
visualkei
I actually like #3, simply because I like that there are 3 colors. Something about red against green, and red against blue, looks tranquil. I guess it's a personal thing, seeing how no one's said anything about #3. hehe. Though I think that since there is white space between each mini-box, it might be a little weird to use as a banner.
