Pieces Of A Spiral is basically a story of reincarnated souls who must continue an ancient struggle to rid the world of demons who intend to conquer the Earth. The main characters Sakuya and Wakyo who are reincarnated souls from feudal Japan, have more in common that physical appearance. Though born separately they look like twins and both of them have been reborn with aspects of their former mentor Bishu who was born of a demon father and a human mother. In this life both Sakuya and Wakyo posses the tremendous power of Bishu, even though they are still unsure of their ability to wield such power. When they learn that their former mentor Bishu is also reborn in this time they must work to rescue him from the demons at work in this world.

The biggest thing I enjoy in this series is the gorgeous artwork. The storyline though not the most original is really brought to life with the work that went into drawing this series. I?ve been thrilled that it?s finally being translated and published here in the US. So far I?ve collected the first four books and I?m looking forward to the remaining ones being released.

One of my favorite characters, well besides the main characters Sakuya and Wakyo and Bishu, is the demon Yuki/Ruki who is a cute little bossy thing. She?s taken the body of a human in order to help both Sakuya and Wakyo protect Bishu in his reincarnated form. It?s cute the way she just bosses them around and in spite of seeming carefree and perky she?ll out of nowhere clobber them for not being more serious about their job to protect Bishu.

So anyone else following this series? And if so what did you think about it?

I've read the first book, and like you, I enjoy the art style quite a bit (though at first glance, I thought it looked somewhat like CLAMP's stuff). Due to the fact that the two main characters look so much alike, I got confused at some points thinking that one character was another, but other than that, I enjoy it very much. There's a demon that I'm particularly fond of that's pretty funny (and slightly bishie), but I can't remember his name. I believe he's Bishu's father. I want to see more of him, heh.

I?ve read the first four books. I agree, the artwork is absolutely gorgeous. I too liked Yuki/Ruki. It?s so funny how she seems like a ditzy little girl and then turns serious and smacks them for not being more serious about their duty to protect Bishu.

What I also loved is the art book for this series. I don?t have it but SunfallE does. (seeing that she?s the one who let me read her books as I don?t have any of the novels to this series) Anyway, it?s absolutely gorgeous. I just love the style and art of this series.

My only question is that from the information I?ve read there is ten books in Japanese, but the list for release I?ve seen only shows six scheduled to be released. Though I suppose since the sixth book isn?t due till December, maybe by then they will have the dates for the other four out. Unless they combined ten books into six for the English release.

Once I saw the art I couldn't resist as I too think it has beautifully drawn characters. And the art book is simply gorgeous. ^_~

I too noticed that the release only showed six books, I would imagine that they will probably let us know when the next ones are when we start to get closer to book six being released. I just can't imagine them combining ten books into six. Though that would be nice as it would make it much more affordable.

Anyway, you already know I like it indifference since you're the one who introduced me to the series. ^_~ Once I saw the art and looked into it I got the first four books and when I saw the art book at a good price through e-bay I couldn't help but pick up it as well. Even if the story line is slightly predicitable I still find it a good read.

It got easier to follow once I realized that the twins were easy to tell apart once you realized that one wore glasses. The first time I read it I kept getting them confused! As for Yuki/Ruki, she is a funny character. The one I like the best is Bishu even though
he's not really in it as much as the other characters.
What can I say? He has such beautiful long georgous hair! ^_~

The thing that first attracted me to this series was the beautiful artwork. I love the use of flowers in many of the pictures in the art book and the manga. The texture on the art book gives it a more of a look of being painted on nice art paper instead of a simple print.

I?ve only started on the first manga, but I?m enjoying it so far. I have the first four and if they continue to be as interesting then I can?t wait until the rest are released. ^_^ The thing I like the best is the actual style of how the characters are drawn. Though I do get confused over the reference to one of them having lavender eyes since the manga is in black and white. Though it?s easy enough to tell them apart in the art book. ^_^

To be honest I haven?t even read this manga. But Mariskah showed me the art book and I have to agree, it?s beautiful. The way the author uses flowers in it is just gorgeous. I?m not really into manga, but I find that I am curious to see what this one is about as the artwork has such a beautiful and graceful look to it. So I guess I?ll have to ask either Mariskah or SunfallE to loan me their books to this series. :animesmil That and indifference's description has me curious as well.

I?m in agreement with everyone on the artwork for this series, I don?t have it, but Crystia was kind enough to loan me her copies and I?ve glanced through the art book as well. The storyline is engaging in how it?s not the typical magic or fight scenes that I?ve run across in other series. It seems to focus a little more on the human aspect or rather the potential human aspect of demons and the neverending struggle for power that always seems to be in pretty much every series.

It is a little hard to keep the main characters clear since in the art book they have different colored eyes, but the manga is black and white, making it a little hard to follow who is who at times.

But in the end I have to admit, I too like Yuki/Ruki as she really is a cute little bossy thing. ;) I've enjoyed this series enough that I intend to read the rest when they are finally released. If ony for the artwork, the flowers alone could easily be framed by themselves and hung on your wall. The artist/writer is very talented in that respect.
