Welcome to Otakuboards Whatsupmon.

I would suggest you look at teh other replies at this thread. What they have is a much higher post quality than your own is at this moment (spelling, grammer, ex cetera). Here at otakuboards we put an emphasis on high post quality as well as discussion which you will find in the official otakuboards rules and FAQ which are also located on the left nav bar on the forum.

If there is more higher quality discussion like the other two posts in this threat I will leave it upen but in the case that it does degenerate into nothing but "I lyke Pokemon cause Pikachu is the Roxers!!!1!1" I will close this thread, If you have any other questions feel free to PM either myself or another Staff memeber ~Ikillion

Well i always been a Pokemon fan and it's not like digimon are that powerful unless they have a human partner. with out that factor a digimon isn't that powerful and pokemon characters power come from the trainers determination and spirit. so a pokemon can't lose the fight. now if a digimon digivolve to like mega level you have to have a pokemon like mewtwo or lugia go into the fight that's the only way i see you could make these even close to a fair fight. Well that's my 2 cents

Well, the only match I can conceive of is Pikachu vs. Agumon, because I've never even HEARD of those other Pokemon (I've been out of the loop for a bit. >.>)

Of that match, though, I'd have to say Agumon would take Pikachu out. Pikachu is undoubtedly faster, but I think Agumon's strength and resilience would make that factor pretty much null.

Pikachu's electricity might be a factor, though, but I don't see it being worse than three Gazimon's Electric Stun Blasts taken all at once, which has happened to Agumon.

I don't think Pikachu would react well to Agumon's Pepper Breath attack either, personally... :p

Sooooo, Agumon for the win.

Well there is always the fact that the digimon are only data in a digital world. You have to take that into consideration. (I am only talking about the older seasons of digimon. I haven't seen the newer, so I don't know if digimon ever came to the real world or not.)

Older? You mean Season 1. They go into the real world in Season 2. In fact, they enter the real world in Season 1 aswell. Haha, so I guess they aren't completely data. :whoops:

Anyway, Digimon would win. With every combonation possible, Digimon come out the victors. Why? Because both Pokemon and Digimon can (digi)(e)volve mid-battle, but I'm almost positive that Raichu wouldn't stand a chance against Greymon let alone Wargreymon.

I think that Pokemon would win, not only because I'm a Poke fan more than Digimon, but for 1 good reason :catgirl: :

Pokemon have the ability to learn various attacks and defences. Let's take Pikachu vs Agumon for instance. Pikachu could attack with Tackle, Quick Attack, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Iron Tail, etc... But Agumon only has Pepper Breath and maybe he could scratch with his nails (as far as I know :animeswea )... Therefore, Pikachu would be able to launch quite a lot of surprise attacks. :animestun But Agumon would only have 2 predictable moves. :animeswea

Even if Agumon Digivolves, I still think that Pikachu would have the upper hand. This is because Pikachu would be able to do combination attacks. You see, power isn't everything. Being smart is very important too. :animeknow

Okaaay... I would have to go with digimon, for one simple reason:

Digimon, can revert back to their weak, small, original forms after evolving." That sounds lame!" you all yell. Hear me out. A huuuge Charizard VS. Wargreymon, for example: Charizard beats him within an inch of his life, but not before taking a few hits, as well. Wargreymon then changes back into Agumon, climbs into a small cave, and rests to gain a little energy back. Poor ol' Charizard is sitting there waiting for him to come out. Out comes Agumon, then Wargreymon, then the beating of Charizard's life. The end.

I don't think this is even an issue. Digimon would win by a mile. Everytime they Digivolve, they just get bigger and bigger. Plus, as the seasons go on, their human friends can merge with them, has Ash ever merged with Pikachu? I think not. That's not team work at all.

It also helps that the kids in Digimon don't enslave their partners. ;)

Digimon all the way. hell, you cant even consider Pokemon to be a real anime at all!!! its such a kids show, despite the fact that i still watch it...

anyways,Digimon have all kinds of various shapes and forms, giving them the upper edge in unpredictability. Also, they can evolve anytime they want(given they have the energy to do so), while a pokemon is like an actual creature; it has to grow over time,,getting stronger only through long years of hard work, and such.

Digimon also cant die. when they lose, they're simply reborn at the earliest stage. So they're literally "reborn". Pokemon, agaibn, are real creatures like humans-they die, and...thats it.

however, Pokemon can learn various techniques and abilities, which makes up for them not having enough forms of evolution. Conversely, Digimon only have one or two set attacks for each form. Pokemon has the upper hand here, as they have more ways to bring an opponenet down.

Also, a digimon's power is almost fixed. it kinda stays at a certain level when they digivolve(i.e.-a Rookie level cant potentially get stronger as a rookie. he needs to digivolve to the Champion level to achieve a greater power.). Whereas for Pokemon, they can possess that "driving spirit" which can help to unlock a hiidden attribute to help them win a battle.

it's an almost undecisive battle. i guess we'd hafta watch to see if the creators make some kind of special OVA for it or something...

Well, for those of you who mentioned Digimon's lack of variety in their attacks, I counter with Digimon Tamers' (Season 3) "Card Slash (or Digimodify as they called it in the dub). It let them use attributes from their Digimon Cards and add them to their Digimon, so they had tons of extra options.

EDIT: HEY! I BROKE THE TIE!!! :animestun
Mythologicly, welcome to Otakuboards. It's nice for you to respond to the thread with your opinion, but it would help if you could express yourself with a little more detail. Otakuboards emphasizes post quality and content, this means proper spelling/grammar/syntax and proper conversation.
Maybe you can tell us why you think leveling up in Pokemon is better than Digivolving. Although we're not expecting a highschool essay from anyone, more than a simple sentence to continue to conversation is expected.
If you have any questions feel free to PM me or any of the other moderators.

It's gotta go to Digimon. Digimon can digivolve into uber forms just about every battle; meanwhile, it takes for-friggin'-ever for a Pokemon to evolve. That Agumon would Digivolve and squish that little electric rodent--my only regret is I didn't get the chance to do it first.

Well that's my 2 cents
If you're talking about a Pokemon getting better with a trainer, then it only stands to reason that a Digimon should have a human partner to fight with too. In which case, even a level 70 Pokemon is about the equivalent to an Ultimate Level Digimon. It takes a long, long time for a Pokemon to level up, and even then it doesn't show a vastly significant alteration to it stats. Levelling up a Pokemon is a long, drawn-out process. Digivolving is instantaneous, and results in a huge increase in strength, size, speed, stamina, power...

So if you've got a Pokemon plus one human against a Digimon plus one human, then a Digimon'd always win. I think even Mewtwo and Lugia would be hard pressed to beat a Digimon- the powers they display are similar to Champion/Ultimate level Digmon standards.

Also, think about this for a second: Digimon die. I know this is mostly due to the general audience of the anime and various writing standards, but if Pokemon never die during a fight, they have nothing to lose. You can argue that this means they're near-immortal, but even so, to know and understand what death actually means considerably alters they way you fight.

I think the number of attacks they have is irrelevant, anyway. If you're looking at Pikachu for example, most of his attacks are a variety of different electrical bursts (e.g. Static Chock, Thunder), which are essentially exactly the same type of attack, just in differing levels of intensity and frequency. There's no reason why a Digimon like Agumon couldn't also regulate the strength and/or frequency of his Pepper Breath to make it slightly different each time. Simply because the monster has a greater number of named attacks doesn't mean they can physically do more. Like Quick Attack- that's just running into the opponent at high speed. Not exactly a challenging thing to implement in battle, even if you don't know what the name of the attack is.

well i personally think that pokemon could kill digimon because pikachu and the others can learn different types of attacks instead of repeating one and it doesnt matter if they take a long time to evolve because ash's pikachu didn't evolve and still it can take down really big and tough pokemon..

Oh also Digimon has been around longer 1990.
Digimon has been around longer 1990.
I beg to differ on the aforementioned point. The first incarnation of Digimon was the toy and came out at the end of Q2 1997. It had been in production since 1995, but by that year the Pokemon game (still called Pocket Monsters) was already released.

If you're counting by Anime, Digimon was first run on March 7 1999 while Pokemon had already been out for two years, starting from April 1 1997.

Also, since Otakuboards emphasizes conversation, hopefully intelligent ones, I encourage you to put a little more effort into researching your statements and improving your post quality. This means using proper spelling and enough content to help move the conversation forward. Although short posts are not unwelcome, it would be more helpful if you had more in your post than "All of my ideas to bakc this up has already been taken."

Pokemon do in fact die in the pokemon red and blue version in lavender town you will encounter a marowak that team rocket killed. and can not captutre so pokemon can die. it just not used that often in the games or Anime series. Plus nobody said that the didmon would have a human partner in the fights. but i know is that a digimon can not digivlove unless their a human partner to give them that power. Plus i think a pokemon let's say at level 100 the max fully evoleved would stand a chance against even a mega digimon. but like i said before it would have to be a trump card pokemon like mewtwo.

AnimeHeroX, I shortened the quote for you. Did you really need to quote the whole post? It's even worse that the quote was twice as long as your post. But how sentient are Pokemon in the understanding of why they battle? It's clear that most Digimon can think for themselves in the way they speak; hence they can express their reasoning. But (and this brings me onto my point in a second) the trainer pretty much speaks and acts on behalf of the Pokemon. While Digimon and their humans work co-operatively, Pokemon are under a much greater level of control when they fight. hence, They're subject to the wills of their trainer which, unless you have an amazing strategist and a high-level Pokemon, limits the overall effectiveness of your partnership. It's not as if the Pokemon can necessarily make vital decisions in the heat of battle unless it's been trained by itself in the wild and has experienced combat there. Training for Pokemon battles is all very well, but Digimon fight for survival, rather than just for a victory.
Plus nobody said that the didmon would have a human partner in the fights.
No, but since everyone assumes that Pokemon always fight with a human companion, it would be a biased fight to begin with if the Digimon didn't have one as well. It's not a fair argument otherwise.
but i know is that a digimon can not digivlove unless their a human partner to give them that power.
That's not true. Digimon can digivolve by themselves under special circumstances. Myotismon digivolved twice without the aid of a human partner, Etemon did and in the movie Kokomon went all the way from Baby to Mega without a willing human partner to carry him along.

Yeah but didn't Myotismon have to take over the mind of everyone in he city chanting his name. while under his spell. and plus the dark masters might have had some influence in his digivolution.after they did have the power to make the digital world appear on earth plus their also apocalymon he might have had something to do with all the evil digimon digivloving by themselves afterall he has been watching from the begining but i'm just throwing out theories.. albeit good ones... and i naturally assumed the when were talking about fights i thaught we were talk Just the human trained Pokemon versus a Digimon without a partner? Myotismon i can't really explain to well but etemon i can he used the power of his dark network to digivolve to mega in the cartoon series. Kokomon only digivolved with the help of the computer virus i think that willius was only meant to have terriermon as a partner. Pokemon can also indeed think for themsevles what about Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia it took Ashes help ... and death but Mewtwo did learn right from wrong and remember in the 1st episode of pokemon when pikachu didn't want to go inside his pokeball that's thinking for yourself. and about the vital decisions in the heat of battle thing if you remember also in the 1st episode pikachu does save Ash from a flock of spearows at the last minute. now that's last minute thinking if i ever saw it.

i hate to say it, but i'm thinking the digimon could just plain out power the pokemon.
i distictly remember an episode of digimon where agumon (i think) became so powerful that agumon no one not even agumon himself had control, he turned into a big t-rex sized skeletal thing. later

Oh you talking about the episode where he dark digivolves to skullgreymon but i think that only happened because Tai's attitude at the time corrupted his data. And then there's the time that Ken had control of him but the dark ring he had were what messed him up that time so i don't think agumon can digivolve into skullgreymon unless a certain amount of evil or darkness is involved. well that's my take on this. :D
Same as the above post. You don't need to quote the entire post, especially if it's the most recent one. I removed this one for you too. -r2
In this post, you didn't even mention what you're talking about. You could be talking about two different flavoured rocks for all we know. Since this is a thread comparing Pokemon and Digimon, tell us what you like about Pokemon, what you like Digimon, and what you don't like from either series. This is pretty sad, nearly every post in this thread has been edited by r2 or Aarayanna [:

But anywho. I think that in a fight, Digimon would likely win, for the afformented reasons.

And if we're talking evolved forms..

Raichu vs. WarGreymon, ShineGreymon, or BlackWarGreymon. No competition.
Sceptile vs. Rosemon. Slightly more even, but I believe Rosemon could beat Sceptile.
Blaziken vs. Flamedramon (Digi-Egg of Courage), Raidramon (Digi-Egg of Friendship), Magnamon (Digi-Egg of Miracles). Yet again, there is no possible way for the Poke'mon to be the victor.
Swampert vs. Seraphimon, Pegasusmon (Digi-Egg of Hope). Swampert stands no chance whatsoever.

Also, I believe someone mentioned Poke'mon had more attacks than Digimon. Wrong again.

BlackWarGraymon alone has the following-
Dragon Crusher: BlackWarGreymon uses the Dramon Destroyers to slash at enemies. Effective against Dramon Group Digimon.
Terra Destroyer (Gaia Force): BlackWarGreymon collects negative energy from the world around him and shapes it into a massive sphere of darkness, which he hurls at his opponent.
Black Tornado: He spins very fast, forming a whirlwind, which can rip and tear his opponent apart.
Ultra Tornado (Black Storm Tornado): He spins very fast, forming a whirlwind and sends two smaller ones outward.
War Blaster: Charges his arms and then shoots green projectiles outward.
Clearly, Digimon just have the upper hand.

Well, this one is a toughy. Each one has a flaw.
Digimon: Sure they can get stronger by digivolving...but wouldn't it take awhile since "some" dont have...lets say digi owners?.
Pokemon:Ya theres alot of legendary pokemon such as ho-oh lugia raiku entai suicune and so on. But look how tamers can fuse with mere data, and have powerful armor.

But some how i think digimon would over power pokemon any day.
