I prefer anime, it's a more passive experience. No thinking required. Turning the pages burns too many calories for my sedentary life style.

Manga also tends to be in black and white. My life is in colors, so I like my entertainment to be. ^^

Manga! It's a lot cheaper, and you can go to parts you like a lot easier than rewinding on your DVD player.
Also, The cover and some chapter title pages are in colour. I don't really need much. As long as my manga is interesting and has a good story and good art, I'll be happy. ^^

Hmm...I would have to say manga over the anime. I just really enjoy admiring the creators work and all the detail and careful consideration that he put into each drawing. I don't have to have color, in fact, I wouldn't like manga if it was all in black and white, I know, call me crazy, but hey, that's the way I like it^^ But I do occasionally enjoy watching my favorite manga on t.v., to see some of the pictures put into action. So, final answer, I would prefer the manga^^

The reason why I'd prefer T.V. over manga, is 1. Watching T.V. is free, when manga is expensive. 2. Even if you buy DVD's, you can get more of the story line from watching the DVD for less, because you'd have to buy a couple of mangas to be able to catch up to the story line on the DVD, which costs a lot of money.

Manga has a tendency to be a little deeper IMO. Not to say that I don't love anime, but I've always been a big reader, I have an easier time remembering what is going on in a manga when I switch books.

I'm a newbie to the site and wanted to say hello everyone, so Hi. I'd definitely have to go w/ anime on this one since I grew up w/ a love of the t.v. Reading, not so much. Also, I think the voices give you more sense of the characters' personality.

I would definately have to say manga. Reading mange is the best! Looking at all the detail, reading the comments from the artist... And, you could take it anywhere you want. Yeah, there are portable DVD players, but reading manga doesn't cost you anything once you've bought it.
Also, manga is the original. I like to watch anime and read the same thing on manga at the same time. And I always think that the original manga has a better flow to the story.
Manga beats anime any day!
Well, that's what I think. What can I say? I'm a book worm!

I guess my preference has to go to Manga, Probaly because in manga there are -ahem-

THERE ARE NO FILLERS IN MANGA!

That has to be my first and foremost favorite thing that I prefer manga over anime. If you are able to get a manga that does tend to have a wonderful artist, (Take Black Cat for example) the way that they show each and every picture, even if it is only in black and white they still can make it as awesome as ever.

Also there is the added violence feature Like in Gantz, I remember my first reaction when I first read it, I still can't believe there can be a manga that has that much violence in it.

Since Manga is also the origional story, There are no wierd adaptations of it made into some other kind of series. As well as all the typical things that happen with all Anime Series' that are adaptations from a manga.

Read manga. Its easier for me to get a hold of and when I want to watch different parts of the anime, i have to go through the hassle of switching out the video or DVD. With manga i just grab the volume the part that i want to get to is in. Also i like pretty things to look at and manga has a lot of pretty pictures. Grade school sounding, yes, but the truth.

Well... I am basing my answer after bad experience.... I saw episodes of trigun on tv, loved it, than got the manga and The manga was really dissapointing in comparison. Same With a few others as well

Art tends to be better in Manga though... I believe there are ups and downs to both forms.

I would choose manga over anime for a couple resons. One is that if the power goes out or somthing there's always a flashligh so that you can still read it. And, you can read it anytime you like and you don't nead a dvd player to be with you at all times. Also, I love the art quality of manga and I tend to read the same volume many times over. I still like anime a lot but given a choice I would have to say manga.
the price on manga is too high why buy of the rurouni kenshin manga for $67 went you can get all the whole seris on dvd for $34

Because the DVDs you're buying are illegal, immoral, and unofficial. It's hard to believe that you can get the whole series of Rurouni Kenshin for that low of a price unless what you're buying is bootlegs. And once you start talking about bootlegs, price can not even be brought into the debate.

Errr.... I can't really answer this... :animestun

Whit me, I like to read the manga first, then watch the anime to see how well it lines up... but with some anime, they change things from the manga, and make it kind of confusing. A good example of this is One Piece, in the Davy Back Fight Arc, the manga had only 3 rounds of games, but the manga added an extra three somehow...

I guess sometimes, I'd rather read the manga more than the anime, because also, you're able to progress quicker.

But I love watching the fight scenes in the anime after viewing them in the manga. :p

I think... anime. You see, manga is the orignal version, and usually it contains more details and stuff... well, I don't HATE reading, but I still like anime better. I guess one reason is because more work goes into it (okay, that's not really a REASON, but it's something I think). And the anime does go a bit simplier then the manga (the orignal). I know some people might not like this as much, but I do ^_^. Plus my own simple reason is because japenese sounds cool and you can hear it when you're watching anime. ^_^ (Yes, not a real reason either... just my opinion.)

its soo hard to choose between the two since manga usually is better when u read it but its alot easier if u just watched the anime.

This is pretty hard.I mean to choose between anime and manga. It's almost impossible. But i think i would rather read manga than watch anime. One reason is because I'm a bookworm so i like to read.THe other is because i like reading the manga before watching the anime to see if there is a chance i like the series. So yes i choose manga.

Assuming production quality is equal, I usually prefer to watch a series' anime. Probably the biggest reason is that I like to actually hear the characters' voices. With good voice acting you can convey things that are hard to do with text, and it's another little immersion factor that helps me get into an anime.

I don't mind fillers in anime series, so long as they're good. I mean, heck, one of my favorite series (Ranma ½) could be described as a huge series of fillers. Maybe 8 out of the 38 volumes of manga deal with the overarcing storyline, and the rest is a bunch of random--but funny!--crap that happens in between. So I'm fine with fillers as long as they're entertaining; each episode doesn't have to advance the plot in order to not suck.

And finally there's the laziness factor. Yes, even though I almost always watch anime with subtitles, so I have to read the dialogue anyway, it still requires less thought than reading manga. Sitting and staring at a screen while an animation plays will always be easier than reading a book. :p
