It's wholeheartedly endearing that the majority o' posters on this thread learnt about sex in a healthy, normal manner.

I learnt in a different manner. Let's say it was unhealthy. An' brutal. An' damaging. Let's say... lost my virginity at six years old, and had already "experienced" the rest beginning three years previously. Yeh. Fun. Abuse.

When it came time for parental sex-ed and school sex-ed? Let's just say the feeling of "isolated" was intense, as I watched my peers learn in "normal" ways... and I had no idea whether to pity their naivety or envy the hell out of it.

Heh. Yeh, I was a f**cked up li'l kid.

Now? I still struggle with unlearning the reactions I learnt as a li'l gal.... things I'd learnt for protection then, are not healthy *now*, in relationships.

Sex is a good thing. It's natural, it's fun, it's a wonderous thing... and someday, I'll learn to be able to relax and enjoy it as much as it *should* be enjoyed.

/my two uplifting cents
@ the relevant people: Is American sex education genuinely so bad that you learned more from porn?[/i']
My school-sponsored sex education was comprised largely of unrelated, extended metaphors.

Example:
Sex between two people is duct tape. You have a piece of duct tape, and the first time you stick it on your arm?and rip it off!?it HURTS. The tape is doing it's job. It's BONDING. It's sticking to you. It's sticking your partner to you. It's important. But the second time I take this piece of duct tape, and stick it on someone else...it comes off more easily. And the next time, it comes off even more easily. Eventually, you reach the point where the duct tape doesn't do anything. It doesn't stick. It doesn't mean anything. It doesn't fulfill its purpose. It's useless.
Example: (This was shown on a video, with the appropriate mixing.)
You have these three jars of paint. Red, yellow, blue. And they're beautiful colors. And you have a paintbrush. Now, watch what happens when we dip the brush into the paints. We dip it in the red?and we can shake it off a little bit, but when we dip it into the blue, no matter what we try to do, a little bit of yellow gets into the blue jar. And if we take that paintbrush out of the blue, and put it into the red, now we've got blue paint in the red jar. And we go back to the blue....

(This continues until there are three jars of brown paint and one very dirty paintbrush.)

HOWEVER, if we put this plastic cover over the paintbrush before we dip the paintbrush into the paint... (Brush, with cover, is dipped) And put a clean cover on the brush before we dip it into the red paint.... (Brush is shown with new cover, and dipped into a different color)... Our paints stay clean, and so does our brush!
I kid you not.

My sex ed class was straightforward, honest, and informative. My only complaint is that I was already rather old by then; I didn't get a real sex ed class until 8th grade, which nowadays is pretty late. I remember having a sex ed class in 5th grade, but the only two things I remember are:

Sperm + Egg = Fetus

And that the AIDS virus dies when exposed to oxygen. (I don't know why I remembered that specifically. I just did.)

Anywho i can't wait till health classes "Sex talk". (Being sarcastic) As told by ginger was funny when all the girls saw a baby coming out. Yes I watched as told by ginger.

But techniquely Cosmo reveals some facts. I read an article. Curiosity killed the dog. if you get the joke. So hopefully my wife knows what it means to "Get your tubes tied,." Only one kid for me. Otherwise no sex afterwords. Not getting a visectamy. No way are my boys going to get killed. So to speak.

But positions aren't all that good to use. Make one up yourself. Kama sutra my ***!!!

Unless your hu hephner who has had rigor mortis more times then a graveyard. :D

Hm. There are some places I'd like to try it.

I would do it in a box.
I would do it with a fox.
I would do it in a house.
I would do it with a spouse.
I would do it here or there.
I would do it anywhere.
I would do green eggs and ham.
But I still would not do Sam-I-am. (sorry, folks)

Sorry. Needed to get that out.

*Chibi, I totally agree. Danielle Steele is nuts.*

Well my mother had her's tied after I was born. Not directly after. But Maybe we could wait till we are OLD AND DECREPID!!!! By then remembering sex will be hard.

As far as how I founf out about sex, when I was five my eleven year old cusin told me that he wanted to **** me, then explained exactly what he ment. Yeah....

So here is my sexual profile:

Now, I am a bit obsessed with sex. I have several Frinds-with-Benifits, and out of a completly male friend group, I am the most horny the majority of the time. Sad, I know. In my head, I strictly divide sexual and emotional feelings. If I am ****ing someone, I keep that whole part of the relationship seperate from any feelings I might have for them. It just seems too complicated when you mix them. I mastrubate every day, and sometimes two or three times a day (and trust me, that is a hell of a lot for a woman) and watch pr0n and hentai quite often. My favorite place is in a pool, and my favorite position (although i don't know the name for it) is basicly me against a wall with my legs wraped around the guy's waist.

Yeah, I am sure that all of you wanted to know all of that, lol.

The quote: "It is better to say nothing at all and have people think you're stupid, than to open your mouth and confirm that you are" springs to mind, here...

I was talking to The Boss about this last night, and I was so relieved to have a mature conversation with him. Most of my friends will talk about sex, yes, but only on a crude, immature level. If I wanted to talk about it as a serious subject, then they'd get all giggly and silly.

I view sex as an expression of love for someone, or a way to show someone how deeply you feel about them. Because it is a pretty intimate thing. I just know I'm one of the few teenagers who still holds that view, in the UK at least, because sex has become such a casual thing people barely know each others names before they're off bonking behind some bush.

Sad, really. But I guess it was bound to happen.

Well the reason she has to get her tubes tied if for some reason he's against a vasectomy is rule #1 for guys.
Never believe a girl when she says she's on birth control. Especially when she's in "awww baby" mode.

Sadly, there's truth to that. My cousin (who's 18) recently announced that she's pregnant and that they'll stay together and the baby will make everything alright.

Wow, her mom did the exact same thing just under twenty years ago.

But a vasectomy can be undone. A bisectomy can't. I think the government should offer one or the other as a free alternative to certain people. Like these people from my church. They have 9 kids now and can't financially support them all, so they're asking everyone else for money. I don't feel the least bit sorry for them. If they could control themselves or use protection, they wouldn't be in that quandary. When asked by the local newspaper if one of them is getting that done, they said "No, we'll just hope and pray that we don't have another one."

The brilliance of humanity astounds and terrifies me.

Speaking of the Church (RC, I mean), I think they're rather silly. They don't condone abortion (which, from a RELIGIOUS stand point, I can understand), but then they also don't condone protection in any form. Which is silly. Basically, they're implying that sex is ONLY for procreation, but I also got a booklet from confirmation class once that said it was okay to make love (once you're married of course) without the intent of having children. ... Okay. See? I think they're strange.

My mom never explained sex to me. She tried once, but at that point I was already 13, and I pretty much knew the basics. *rolls eyes* Health class in middle school promoted abstinence and condom usage.

Sex ed (Freshman health) was interesting. Most of it was about protection and birth control options. And a video showing how to put on a condom. At the end, they even had a gynecologist come in and explain different options with us. Like, they handed out some of the actual devices used. (I can't even remember the names of most of this stuff, now. Can you tell I'm still a virgin? ;)) They also went over the different parts in the body (most of which I already knew). That's about it.

I don't really know a lot about the technical aspects. Basics or whatever. I suppose at this age I should know more? I could - there's a book lying around the house about it, but I'm too busy reading fanfiction. (Haha, in which lemons occur sometimes, though I don't suppose gay porn [when plausible] is very helpful to me as a woman. =D)
@ the relevant people: Is American sex education genuinely so bad that you learned more from porn? Because we had it covered in cringeworthy detail at GCSE level - I think that's eleventh grade? - I say cringeworthy because I went to an all-male high school, with a female biology teacher. Up till that point I thought the verb to giggle[/i'] applied exclusively to the fairer sex...
The answer to your question, the answer which a few people have established so far is yes, we learn more from porn than school. It's pretty bad.

I mean, what can you expect from a country that, at the break out of the AIDS epidemic offered NOTHING to the American people except "Just say no." He may have helped bring down the wall, but because of his own Christianity, he refused to take AIDS seriously, and start a campaign. Good job! *eye roll*

You expect that a country with THAT type of mentality would willingly inform people about sex? Pfft. I've heard that yes, in the south, there really isn't a lot of sex ed, and if there is, it amounts to "abstinence." --Although, Sara's duct tape and color analogies were pretty bad (and she lives in the midwest-ish?). ;_; The weirdest analogy from school video tapes that I've ever heard was "Love (sex) is like a rose. And every time you pass it around to the next person, the rose gets more bruised, and petals fall off. And soon, there's nothing left of the rose, and it doesn't seem so special any more." And no, I'm not making that up.

To me, sex isn't that important (but then again, this is from the perspective of a virgin). I can barely kiss a guy, and even then I brushed my teeth for about half an hour. I'd really have to be in a long term relationship with someone I really really loved, before I would even consider having sex with them.

And, I've heard a lot about the first time. People say it's special, but I've also heard from other people that the first time isn't as great as they thought it was going to be. For that reason, I won't hold it in such a high place, but I'm definitely not ready, emotionally, to give myself to anyone yet.

P.S.:
Whoever said 'thinking about your parents doing it to create you is disturbing' is right.
P.P.S.: OMG!! RETRI - I just saw that you're a mod!! Congrats!! *hugs you* And yeah, I've been outta the loop for QUITE some time. ^^; Congrats to the person who is totally the other half of my brain - you ALWAYS think what I think. Even in here, you did. ¬_¬ *more hugs*

I'm curious to find out how people learned about sex, what their schools teach about sex- especially here in the IS since thanks to our government you're really not allowed to tell kids much about sex.

Something anything. What do you think about sex? What were you told?
I learned about sex the hard way. At the young age of seven. Not because I wanted to know but because the knowledge was forced upon me. And living in a highly religious community who just didn?t want to believe things like rape happened at such a young age didn?t help either. After all their precious little teenage boys would never do something like that!

I didn?t learn about it from school as sex education is pretty much nonexistent here in Utah. The idiots even willingly turned down millions in federal aid for the schools just because they refused to have sex education classes.

As for what I think about sex? Not much really, other than it?s far more pleasant when it?s not being forced upon you. As for what I was told, it?s rather ironic as my mother tried the explain things speech when I was twelve and all we did was fight because I yelled at her for not believing me that I was raped when I was seven.
Is American sex education genuinely so bad that you learned more from porn? Because we had it covered in cringeworthy detail at GCSE level - I think that's eleventh grade? - I say cringeworthy because I went to an all-male high school, with a female biology teacher. Many of the more reserved states like Utah have voted to not have sex education in their schools whatsoever. And the ones who do use very lame comparisons like others have mentioned in this thread. And those classes cause more confusion than anything else. So sad as it might sound, many kids pick up more from porn than they ever did from school.

Sex officially scares the hell out of me. All the complexities of knowing how, when, why, where and with whom are just too much to handle. I think I'm just gunna try not to get into any sexual encounters and only have sex if someone else wants to have it with me. If I am in a relationship, I'll let them decide the who-what-when-where-why-how of my sex life. Call me pathetic, but these decisions are frightening to me.

Hey I'm PMSing here so allow me to reply to your post right now!

A Tubal Ligation (am I spelling that correctly?) is more evasive and actually more dangerous than a vasectomy. Plus I believe it's more expensive and requires more recovery time than a vasectomy. But hey you and your non existant wife can go ahead and make that discision. And somehow I have a feeling you won't ever be in such a position.

From what I understand doctors will only do either a tubal ligation or vasectomy in extreme cases of younger men and women. There's also an opporation (The name escapes me at the moment) that removes the female reproductive organs (or maybe it was just the uterus), but that's also only in extreme cases. My aunt had it right after my cousin was born because her's was quite literally falling out. But other than major cases the doctor will probably just tell you to use condoms and birth control.

I learned about sex from my mother. When I reached the age where I started maturing she took me aside and not only explained what was happening in that regards, but why it was happening. She had some book that she gave me to read as well that explained the reproductive process pretty well. I?m fairly certain she still has that book somewhere at home. It?s probably just as well that she did as like others have mentioned, the sex ed class was pretty pathetic and the way they explained things made no sense whatsoever. This was before my family moved to Utah where there is no sex ed in the schools.

Personally I think sex is something that though fun requires a bit of maturity. There are too many negative problems if you don?t know what you are doing, like getting pregnant or catching STD?s. So for the most part I tend to be on the chaste side when I date. Though I have had a few relationships where they became physical as well. And like Gavin said, though it is pleasurable, it's not as big a deal as people make it out to be.

My first exposure was basically my babysitter liked to watch porn at her house in front of me. I had no idea what it was but I learned quickly that it was bad to watch when my mom jerked me out of that woman's care.

I wasn't told anything about sex. I learned what i know from informing myself as soon as i got old enough to use an encyclopedia and read a health book.

xD funny topic. sex ed in my school started wayyy to late to be useful (at 16 -_-) i learnt most of the process from crappy romance novels (you'd be surprised how infomative they can be) n prevention n std stuff from my biology textbook ha! besides, sex ed is crap. they just tell you to do abstinance. -_-
