What is life without the ability to imagine? It is madness. Somewhere in a world other than our own, a pitiful man wonders what it is to close his eyes and get lost in the wonderful nonsense that is a dream. Being dreamless has made him cruel and inhuman. He has become obsessed with visiting the intimate fantasy world that we easily take for granted. Because he cannot find the comfort of dreams in his own bed on a chilly winter?s night, or in the recluse of a summer?s shade, he has resorted to the most desperate measure possible; he has decided to tap into the rawest source of imagination in existence. He has decided to steal the imaginations of hapless children so that he too can experience a dream, even if it does not truly belong to him. This scientist, Professor Damon has grown bitter and jealous of children who let their minds grow tired and lazy. Instead of using their own imaginations and creativity, he has noticed that they rely on television, movies and video games to become their escape. He has decided to take advantage of this foolishness by developing his own video game company. This company is called: Sweet Dreams. Their first release is quite a remarkable one that promises a whole new level of interactivity--and it delivers This release is called: Project Gamer. On each copy, there exists a secret program. This program is an executable, which allows the professor to bridge the gap between his world and our own so that he may freely rob the consciousness of large quantities of children at his will. Their real world bodies are replaced with a basic AI script that leaves them functional, but without personality. For the most part, this endeavor has been a resounding success for him. He has become intoxicated with his obsession, greedily consuming the children's imaginations. The children?s shells become his minions, influencing other children to play his game. But, there is one seemingly insignificant flaw. When each child is captured there is always be a small lingering part of their imagination that Damon cannot absorb and the accumulation of this escaped imagination has created a response against him in the form of the children?s favorite video game characters and their worlds. However, the biggest glitch in Project Gamer occurs when a children's filmmaker named Gustav Albright, purchases a copy of the doomed software for his daughter Ella. Unlike most adults, Gustav has refused to compromise his imagination. The sincerity or Gustav's unmitigated creativity shows through in each and every one of his films. Ella is just as enthusiastic and creative as her father is; she has a strong affiliation for fantastic imagery and is pleased when she sees the video game her father has brought home. Gustav promises that he and Ella will play Project Gamer together after dinner and homework. This is a promise that he unfortunately keeps. The back of the game's packaging indicates that it supports two players, so father and daughter anxiously pick up their controllers and begin the game. Their house is engulfed in an array of brilliant, flashing colors. Gustav and Ella are immediately enthralled by the vivid, life-like graphics. The visuals are unlike anything they have ever seen before. Before they know it, they have become a part of Project Gamer. Although Project Gamer is not intended to capture adults, the richness of Gustav's imagination and the purity of his heart serve to deceive the game and his spirit is captured--but not without a cost to the professor's plan. Gustav's adult presence--the sheer abundance of his memories and life experiences are not compatible with the software; he creates the biggest glitch in the system to date. This glitch allows Ella to retain her self awareness and exist in the world of Project Gamer as a representation of her physical body. When Ella awakens she is alone and her father is nowhere to be found. She is immediately attacked by ghastly beasts known as Night Mares--bad dreams that have been rejected by Professor Damon. A boy named Lucas comes to her aid. Lucas was apparently absorbed by Project Gamer at the same time as Gustav and Ella. So, he too was able to retain his self-awareness. How the Game Will Be Played, Sign-ups, etc. This RPG will not be played quite like a traditional RPG. This RPG will span five worlds. White and I will select about three or four people to represent each world. Those people will tell the story as it passes through that world. So, people will only be roleplaying at their specific point in the story. Although that may sound limiting, each world has an awesome story to be told. So, there will be no specific division of characters and I have predetermined which characters will appear in each world as it pertains to the central plot. If you decide to write in cameos, that will be fine as long as they do not disrupt the primary objectives I give you. So, for now just concentrate on which world you would like to tell the story in. The real focus here is just participating as storytellers. I have decided to use this "workshop" approach because it reflects the theme of the story--people working together to achieve a goal. I think this approach will be very positive because it sort of fosters competition between the groups to keep up with one another, and because you are only telling one part of the story, the demands of the game are not too high. The only character that is sort of unique is Pac Man, because I want him to be sort of a running sub plot that takes up a post throughout each world. I really want Shy to sign up and take that role and I'll explain more, but it's only relevant if Shy wants to do it because I liked his Pac Man so much the first time around. Some cooperation would still need to take place with each group though obviously. I will not actually be a participant in the game. Instead, I am the "Director." My only role will be to private message each group certain plot points that they must hit in their roleplays. This style might sound restrictive, but its only purpose is to provide a focus to move things along. White will be developing backgrounds for each world too, which is great. Also, music will play a big part in this RPG, which should be evident by the MIDI "Dreams, Dreams" from "Nights" that I've attached as the official theme of the RPG. For certain moments of the RPG I will give each group a song that must be used for a specific scene and when I do not specify one, you have the freedom to choose. However, please do not code them to "autostart." If you need help with the coding, don't worry, I have the code. The worlds available will be Angel Land from Kid Icarus, Raccoon City from Resident Evil, Hyrule from Zelda, The Island from Kingdom Hearts, and The Mushroom Kingdom from Super Mario. So, when you sign-up, be sure to state your preference for which world you want (try to include a first and second choice and tell us how flexible you are), and describe why you should be included in Project Gamer 2. Lastly, write a sample rp, or copy and paste an RP from any RPG you've done on OtakuBoards that you believe best reflects your ability. I know that sounds intimidating, and White and I are not going to be overly anal, but if we get too many sign-ups, we're going to need to decide who to let in. Also, we would like committed players. If you're in like, fifty RPGs and you plan to bail, then it's probably best to not bother. This RPG has the potential to be one of the better stories told on OtakuBoards and we're going to do our best to make it a lot of fun. The atmosphere is going to be very relaxed and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. We'll do an Underground thread once the RPG launches. Charles
Okay that sign-up is fine except for one small detail Farto. I just want to issue a reminder since multiple people are approaching me about this: you are not joining to play a specific character. You are all joining as "storytellers." Of course, if you're interested in telling a story with Link involved, it would be best to apply for Hyrule. Each group will have a representative and I will private message that person, the required plot points I wish to see them make for each individual post. They will then share them with the rest of the group. So, this forces communication and team work. Here is an actual example of a plot point: "Ella and Lucas start off in the Palace in the Sky where Palutena administers the light. They encounter Pit, who is apparently afraid of them. Pit scampers off without answering any of their questions. They ask a nearby citizen who he is, and they are told they had better go ask Palutena." Each world is like a chapter, and within each chapter there are going to be a lot of plot points like this. The group would convene and decide who would do a role-play based off this plot point. The roleplay would be a detailed expansion of the plot point. As you can see, there is a lot that can be filled in. There could be conversation between Ella and Lucas before they encountered Pit. There's the detail of the surroundings, how the characters look. I could go on. I would probably include another one for this post since nothing of note really happens here. This is just a small example, remember. So, there's no definite character that you'll be going into this thing with. Pac Man is the only exception to that rule.
DeadSeraphim
Prefered location: Hyrule or Mushroom kingdom would be best, I've never played the other games. Why? Put simply... you need me. Sample (I wrote this just for you Charles, just for you):
SNIKT The general looked around nervously, his eyes scanning the darkness for the source of the noise. Behind him his platoon did the same, their eyes bugging with fear. They had been searching the dim cave for an hour now, their mindsets alternating between gung-ho and scattered as they delved deeper into the earth, their task seemingly simple - take down Weapon X. They were the 6th platoon to be sent after him "GAH!" a soldier near the back of the group went down, hitting the earth with a wet thud. At once the platoon spun around, firing their machine guns wildly, hoping in vain to kill the source of their anguish. The dull tink of lead upon metal was the only answer they received, followed by a bestial roar as a man with wildly spiked hair leapt into the view, his six claws - three on each hand - singing as they cut through the air. With animal fury he tore into six of the soldiers before they could react, then leapt at the next, only to receive a pistol shot to the head. With a grunt the man fell. For a long time noone moved. Then the general smiled. "Looks like we got him boys!" he roared, breathing heavily and walking to stand over the corpse. "Weapon X, dead for good. Thought I'd never see the day." Taking a cigar out of his pocket, he shoved it in his mouth and lit up. "Celebrate boys, we just did what 5 other platoons couldn't!" His remaining platoon all cheered, envisioning the grand pay advances they'd get for such a takedown. "Don't celebrate too soon, bub," a gravelly voice replied. The general peered down at Weapon X's corpse, and saw it peer right back. "Boo." "Men, he's still alive!" the general roared. "Kill i--" He fell with a thud, his body slashed from crotch to throat by Weapon X's deadly claws. Slowly the mutant stood, cracking his neck and barely registering the thud of the platoon's machine gun bullets as they attempted to take him down again. With slight stiffness he crouched and picked up the general's still smoking cigar, took a deep draw and looking up at the terrified platoon as his wounds healed before their eyes. "Who's next?"
Sakura
Starting Point: The Island (KH) or Hyrule (LoZ), either way, I don't particularly mind where I end up. I dunno, sounds like an interesting prospect even though I know nothing about Project Gamer 1, and I feel I just want to have a part in it, and I think I can do a good job....story telling........ RP Sample: Ummm, didn't really know which one to choose...in the end I decided on a post from "OtakuBoards Apprentice" since I've been using it pretty often as a Sample ><;; Apologies for the length.
Beatrix stood with her hands on her hips, looking at her full team, they sure were a mismatched group of people, but they'd have to work together all the same. Looking over at the other team she realised they were equally as strange with a couple of animal-like members. The challenge was given and Beatrix was first to act, hurrying to the blocks she looked at them curiously, the first obstacle to overcome was how to get the item from the box. She frowned thoughtfully and raised her left hand, palm facing the block. "Holy." she said, releasing a blinding white light at the block, which connected and disappeared, not doing anything. She next tried to attack it physically with her sword from above, but the blade did nothing again, sliding off. How could a simple yellow box be so strong and immune to things. Beatrix stood beneath it and looked up, making 'hm' sounds. "Beatrix!" she heard someone call. She was snapped out of it suddenly and jumped in shock, bumping her head into it, but strangely enough she felt it bend and flex slightly, and a large gold coin with the image of a skull on it fell into her hands. Beatrix then turned to her team to ask why they called her. "I was just going to tell you to hit the block from beneath with your head." Mallow replied. She nodded and ran for the stairs, tucking the coin under her arm. Her foot landed on the first step and immediately she saw things start to appear, creating obstacles in her path. Beatrix exhaled heavily, looking up the staircase, it now seemed a lot longer than it had been a moment ago. Beatrix took a better grip on her gold coin and proudly drew her Save the Queen from its sheath, brandishing it as she charged forth. Her first obstacles were strange mushroom-like creatures with little feet and angry faces that were toddling down the stairs toward her. There were columns of them, all travelling simultaeneously that she couldn't go around them. They were rapidly advancing so she had to decide on a course of action and she started to swing her blade horizontally, cutting down the rows as she hopped up the stairs, jumping over the last row as they tumbled down the stairs. She looked behind her and realised that she had only progressed 3 steps, and there were many more to go. A couple of steps ahead was a line of large blue blocks with spikes around the edges, also bearing angry faces, these enemies were rising up and down in a beat, lifting themselves into the air, only to drop down a few moments later with a force which shook the stairs. Beatrix put away her weapon and got into a running position. When the blocks were high enough, she quickly ran beneath them....only to see several rows more ahead, with only one step between each line. As the row behind her crashed down, the one in front started to rise slowly. Beatrix caught on to the pattern, running through the dangerous obstacles which threatened to break a bone or two. She could see the top of the stairs just ahead, with only one more line to pass by. She thought it would be a breeze since she'd passed the others easily, but she became over confident, and just as she was running under, her foot caught on the step, splaying her body forward as the Thwomps dropped heavily, crushing into her legs. Beatrix clenched her teeth, her bones creaked but didn't break because of the armour she wore. When the blocks lifted, she used her hands to pull her onto the landing, sitting up. She quickly pulled the armour on her legs off and cast a few Cure spells, pulling them back on and running to where the customers were waiting. Beatrix looked at the panel of customers sitting on stools on the other side of a wooden counter. She looked at each of them carefully before deciding to stand in front of a creature that resembled a squid. "Ahem, Mr....Bloopy," she read from the name card that sat in front of him, "I was wondering if you'd be willing to purchase this here Skull Coin." she offered. "What's special about it?" he asked. "Well.....it can be used to attack opponents with!" Beatrix lied, hoping it would pass. "Oh! I certainly need something like that! I'll buy it from you." Beatrix smiled as she put the large coin on the counter, sliding it in front of him. "Thankyou for shopping with Team Alpha." Beatrix turned and ran at the stairs, she stepped onto the top step and was happy to see that the obstacles had disappeared, giving her an easy path back to the bottom where the rest of her team was.
Gavin
Starting Point: Hyrule or Mushroom Kingdom. Like DeadSeraphim, I haven't played the other games, so it only makes sense to go for either of these. Why?: I really didn't expect answering this to prove quite so difficult as it did. As for the why, well in the end I suppose it's best broken down to the facts that I'm an accomplished role-player here on the Boards and this project has quite literally captured my imagination with it's truly wonderful music and story. RP Sample: Couldn't find any Mario of Legend of Zelda samples to use, so I went with the most recent fantasy setting RPG I've taken part in, Lan's Delta Rebellion.
Melchior continued to merely stare out at the bay, having already removed his sunglasses and tossed them back into his pack, sometimes he wondered how he'd ended up with such an immature team. He sighed out, Giga Omega Ki was one of, if not the strongest teams in all of Delta and yet sometimes they could act like complete children, it was frustrating to say the least. However Boushin was right, Melchior had felt something although he had not said it to the rest of the team, he didn't want to worry them with unnecessary baggage. He was surprised that Talia hadn't felt anything, but she was still young yet, only a Level 2 Paladin, and her power would grow as the months passed, of all the team members he enjoyed her company the most, perhaps because they shared the same class and thus were alike in persona. ?Alright Team, let's move out, it's getting late here and we're all due a good nights sleep. We're only a few minutes out from Giga's guild house, and I'll be the first to admit I'd like a warm bed more than many things at the moment.? The rest of the team nodded in agreement, it was getting late and the First District of Elysium could turn quite cold when it wanted to. The guild houses had been established soon after Callipso had gone missing, as a way for wandering teams to be able to find rest when they needed it without having to part with their money. Giga?s house had been located in Elysium, something Melchior had been thankful for, it was a pain to have to crash in another teams guild house, as it inevitably lead to a favour being owed. The red brick building came into full view after a few minutes of walking, Melchior exhaled gratefully before realising they had no groceries at the house. ?What?s wrong Melchior ?? They question had come from Talia, a measure of concern on her soft face. The same question was poised on the other team members lips but Talia had beaten them to the punch. ?Team Gamma Tau Epsilon stayed here a few days ago and I don?t think they replaced the groceries they used up, you three go ahead, I?ll get some food for tonight and tomorrow and be back. Just have the heat on, my bones are freezing.?. Boushin remained stone stiff, his way of asking if Melchior needed a hand, after all the longer it took for the Level 4 Paladin to get the food, the longer it was before they ate. ?Go on before I demote you all down a rank.? Talia turned to Xavier ?Can he do that ?? The old mage shook his head. ?Doesn?t matter to me, I?m still level one, he can?t demote me lower. Besides I don?t think even Melchior has that kind of authority.? The Paladin sighed again, sometimes his team?s loyalty would royally irritate him, oh well, there was no point in arguing with them further and the shop was only a hundred or so meters down from the house. The owner was an ex-adventurer who knew exactly how important a full stomach was to the completion of a quest, Tugo had been one of the senior members of the team Melchior started out on, and never failed to give him sagely advice. The shop was styled similar to the surrounding building, but Tugo was there, as always with a newspaper in his hand and a smile on his face. ?Seems you?re in the paper again Melchior, you and your team took care of some bandits way out from the city. Whatever happened to that cocky young Paladin who wanted to go after dragons and other high difficulty level monsters ?? Melchior?s cheeks began to redden, the rest of the team stared at him with disbelief, Melchior cocky ? The couldn?t be right. ?Save it Tugo, Gamma Tau Epsilon used our building and cleared out the stores, we need to replenish them for out next ?high difficulty level? quest. He was smiling, as was Tugo, he just hated it when Tugo brought up his old team?s past. Melchior turned towards the other team members before raising an eyebrow. ?Well ? I thought you guys were hungry, where are the new supplies ?? Tugo chuckled. ?You?re getting more and more like Ares every time I see you. Same stoical old bastard who runs his team like a team ought to be run.? After a few minutes the rest of the team had reassembled next to the till, each with an armful of supplies, Tugo let out a faux-impressed whistle. ?All that then ? My, my Melchior, these three would give Sanga a run for his money.? Melchior blew out his breath derisively, Sanga had been a warrior on their team, a giant of a man who ate more than the rest of the team combined, it had given Ares, Tugo and Melchior a lot of financial headaches over the team?s lifetime. Drawing out a handful of Deltan banknotes, Melchior paid for the goods before the team moved out of the store. A few minutes later they arrived back in their team house, spotlessly clean as it had been left and the heating was activated, within thirty seconds Xavier and Talia were in the kitchen preparing food while Boushin and Melchior sat in the team?s living room soaking up some much needed heat. Boushin turned to Melchior, a enquiring look on his face. ?Why didn?t you say you felt it too ??
Charles
Gavin, Sakura and Alan, I really like your sign-ups. Now we're moving in the right direction. Although keep in mind that you aren't picking a starting point. You're just picking an area of interest for when we start. Also, I just want to say that White messaged me and told me that some people are disappointed with how the game is set up in that they will not play it traditionally as a set character. Well, to them, I say that their complaints justify my direction. Project Gamer is an RPG that's meant to defy convention and break new ground. The first Project Gamer did that by offering a bunch of side features. If I simply did a repeat of that again, Project Gamer 2 would be more of the same. Instead, I want to change how OtakuBoards roleplays are done. The fact that a lot of you instinctually are set to play specific characters shows how narrow OtakuBoards roleplaying is and it's why I said people would be skeptical in myOtaku. I predicted this. I was hesitant to ever make a Project Gamer 2 just because of how rigid a lot of you are. People are generally set in their ways and skeptical of new directions at first. However, a good role-player is versatile and can adapt. Once you do, and we actually start the RPG, you'll see WHY I went this route and you'll have fun. Once you read how fantastic the story is and how efficiently it is told, you will understand. On the other hand, if enough people don't want to sign up and give it a chance then we just don't have to do Project Gamer 2. It's that simple. Shy
Starting Point: Anywhere you want me! Why: I was involved in the original, and did a spin-off in the form of Don't Shoot the Goombas. It would be my honor to be a part of this next chapter in the Project Gamer legacy. RP Sample: The following is part of a post from The Legionnaires. It's been a while since I've participated in a more traditional RPG as a player, but I'm very excited about this and will cut myself if I'm not included.
The Legionnaires? headquarters were once again silent as its? members waited on word from Kaida and the others. The speed at which she organized and dispatched her group may have surprised some, but in the team?s 30 year history emergency missions were far from being uncommon. Many had expressed their concerns about his haste to The Arbiter himself, asking for him to send additional back-up, but history had proven that the groups' resources and members could only be spread so thin. The Arbiter was standing near a conference desk in the aptly titled ?War Room? of Legionnaires HQ. Since even the earliest missions he and other group leaders had worked hard to analyze each and every mission, aiming to assign members whose abilities best suited the job: ensuring the safety of the Legionnaires were always the priority, but leading a life of danger always came hand-in-hand with these risks. His flowing black cape dragged along the floor, spreading past piles of papers containing past mission briefings surveillance information. Kaida had survived battles that a common man wouldn?t even be able to pronounce, yet she took each and every challenge with caution. Certainly she had chosen a strong team for the mission, but would even two team leaders be capable of fighting a largely unknown threat? The Arbiter lowered his head as he thought over the situation, and began to question his own motives. He removed the black, expressionless mask from his face to wipe the sweat from his brow. His face was porcelain and nearly flawless. Nearly. A single scar spread down across his handsome face. This was a side of The Arbiter rarely seen, that of the man who had experienced a lifetime of pain and loss since traveling to this world. The fear of losing another Legionnaire was growing; his would consider his years of experience useless if Kaida?s team didn?t make it out of there alive. There was a slight knock on the frame of the doorway, drawing his attention for a moment. Dr. Jessica Marlow, one of several on-site doctors, stood quietly with a tired expression on her face. ?Arbiter, is it alright if I speak to you for a moment? I might have some news?? At one point he had been much closer to Dr. Merlow, who was not only gifted with great beauty, but also one of the most brilliant minds of her time. The times had changed, and as it did so did the nature of their relationship. She walked closer to The Arbiter, looking over her own notes for a moment as she moved in towards him. ?We have been researching around the clock, and I think you can limit down the list of possible causes,? Dr. Merlow said with a sigh, ?My staff and I are no closer to finding the source of Pygmalion?s illness than we were yesterday, or the day before. We don?t believe it?s anything medical.? ?You know this isn?t the kind of news I was looking for.? ?It?s a start, Arbiter,? she placed her hand softly onto his, ?At least you know what not to focus on now.? He quickly pulled his hand away, readjusting his mask as Jessica ran her fingers through her graying hair. ?The scientist in me is baffled; the metamorphosis from flesh and blood into stone doesn?t resemble anything I?ve come across before. Oddly enough Dr.?eh, Pygmalion?s immune system and vital signs haven?t faltered a bit from what would be considered ?normal.? It?s either supernatural in nature or something else so far beyond our science that we can?t explain it.? ?And what of Augur? Is he resting?? ?We?ve yet to stabilize his condition, and introducing anything more potent than the painkillers already in his system could have serious effects in the long term.? ?And his visions are still out of control?? ?Yes, he?s still conscious. Also, it might be difficult to tell how exactly the drugs are affecting the coherency of his visions. This entire situation is a first for me. It wasn?t too long ago that I was out adventuring with The Legionnaires myself.? ?It?s never too late,? The Arbiter?s soft blue eyes began to glow. Jessica turned her back away from him, clasping her hands together. ?It?ll never happen. Some of us chose to age gracefully, and left the heroics for the next generation,? she lowered her head as she spoke, ?The only reason I?m here at all is for you? I?m waiting for you. I?ve been waiting for you.? The Arbiter stepped towards Jessica, placing his arms on her waist and turning her around. He leaned in even closer. ?We can?t discuss this now. Pygmalion?s condition is accelerating at a dangerous pace,? The Arbiter turned towards the video monitors lining the walls, each featuring a different news feed from around the globe, ?It?s not as if we have any time for... for us. The world needs us, and The Legionnaires need you.? ?I? I understand?? she smiled, and kissed him softly on the cheek, ?and as long as it takes I?ll be be here waiting for you, my love?? The Arbiter smiled, embracing her tightly. ??Because you killed me.? There was a slight knock on the frame of the doorway. Tech, the most brilliant mind on the planet, stood there silently, watching The Arbiter hold a conversation with thin air. ?I?I?m sorry I interrupted, Arbiter. I can come back later if you want some privacy.? She blushed, not quite sure what to make of the situation. ?It?s perfectly fine, Tech.? he donned his black mask once again, reverting from man to Legionnaire in an instant, ?I was only talking to? a ghost.? ?Arbiter, we?ve just received a brief communication signal from Kaida?s group.? ?Play the message.?
-Shy
JJ
Area: I'd like Raccoon City or The Island, but I'm game for anything. Why? It's a new concept and I want to be a part of it. The concept itself also intrests me alot, because it has so much potential. I find myself a competent role player and I think I could add something positive to the group. Sample
"Armor Piercing Blade!" The Meramon Ginryuudamon had been battling went down with a yell and devolved back to the Hawkmon it was a few minutes ago. JJ smiled quickly and turned away from the player that had just lost. The luster of destroying partners had disappeared and JJ was getting sick of running from the groups anyway. According to his digivice's information page, it appeared like Ryuudamon's Ultimate form was very close. JJ smiled. The now Ryuudamon and Tentomon walked and hovered next to him as he continued down the path. The "training" area was really starting to bore JJ and the sounds of the huge battle coming from the area where the fortress currently were only increasing his lust for a great battle. "Ryuudamon, Tentomon, do either of you have any idea how we could avoid the big battles going on around here and still get into the Fortress?" JJ asked, looking at the both of them. Ryuudamon shrugged, but Tentomon stuck a claw up in the air. It looked like he was actually going to contribute to the group for once. JJ looked at him and Tentomon began without eye contact: "There's side entrance that the good know about. It'll lead to a huge audience chamber where the final battle'll take place. Problem is, it'll be full of good newbies trying to get in and see the action. Most'll be taken out by the various guards, but still..." "Let's go. The guards won't bother us and we can try and get in on the action in some way or another by leaving the passage," Ryuudamon suggested. "I'm game, lead the way Tentomon." JJ replied. Tentomon looked at him funny for a few seconds. Had JJ actually referred him by name? Was JJ starting to like him? Tentomon shuddered at the thought and hovered forward, moving towards the huge explosions. JJ and Ryuudamon followed, not saying a word and keeping each other's pace. It was something they had done since the beginning, one of the many things they unconsciously did, that showed their closeness. Ryuudamon tensed as they left the forest area they had been in and entered the real battlefield. Already, many players on both sides were holding rookie digimon and running away while even more continued to scream commands at the giants lumbering around. JJ and Ryuudamon could only stop and watch for a few seconds as Tentomon took off, nearly leaving the other two behind. The group made it to the side entrance with minimal damage. They only had to dodge a couple of stray or deflected attacks. JJ almost smiled at Tentomon when he pointed out the entrance, which now looked clear. The group rushed for it, but were cut off by a player that jumped out from the entrance, surprising Ryuudamon and causing JJ to stumble backwards. "Where do you think you're going? This is for good players only, you scum wad," the newcomer stated. JJ growled and stared at the player. "How're you gonna stop me? I don't see any digimon around here." "Elecmon!" the other called. The fuzzy dog digimon appeared from behind the player and growled at Ryuudamon who had already taken a battle ready stance. Both players called out their commands and the battle started. Both rookie traded blows. Elecmon fired off successions of Sparkling Thunder, which kept Ryuudamon out of Iai Blade range. Luckily, Ryuudamon still had his helmet. "Helmet Return!" Ryuudamon whipped his head back and flung his helmet at Elecmon. It smacking the other rookie square in the face and stunned him temporarily. Ryuudamon didn't waste his time, charging in forward. "Iai Blade!" The blade on Ryuudamon popped out and as he was about to ram it into Elecmon, its partner hit the digivolution button. It threw Elecmon into a white light and deflected Ryuudamon's attack. JJ quickly followed suit, eloping Ryuudamon in the same white light. Elecmon finished first, emerging as Sheepmon and Ginryuudamon popped up not long after. The two opponents glared at each other for but a second and began to attack one another. "Wool Grenade!" Sheepmon launched the grenades from the cannon on its back, forcing Ginryuudamon to jump to the side to avoid the blasts. Ginryuudamon charged and Sheepmon let off another barrage. Ginryuuamon jumped off his path. JJ, meanwhile, was desperately trying to figure out a strategy for actually winning this battle. He looked to Tentomon, who had been watching the entire battle anxiously. "You want to go help at all?" "Me? Go help? Of course," Tentomon responded quietly. "Then go, Ryuudamon needs your help right now," JJ answered. "Rightio Boss," Tentomon whispered. JJ watched Tentomon fly out in the battle and winced when he heard a second digimon's voice. "Hard Brick!" Tentomon swerved to the side to avoid a brick that had flown out of nowhere. "Don't think you'll be interrupting this battle you annoying insect," the thrower announced. "Oh, really now?" Tentomon asked, getting cocky. "Yup. Once Sheepmon wins, he'll come after you and it won't be pretty turning into digital data at all, now will it?" Armadillomon answered just as cockily. Tentomon ignored his taunting and responded with something more dangerous instead. "Super Shocker!" The Armadillomon quickly rolled into a ball and the shock only hit his shell. Tentomon was expecting it and quickly dive-bombed the rookie when he uncurled. "Talon Attack!" Armadillomon could only watch as Tentomon's claw slammed into his face and flipped him over. The insect quickly followed with a second Super Shocker. The electric attack surged through Armadillomon's body and caused him to howl in pain. Before Tentomon could try again, Armadillomon used his momentum to get back on his feet and immediately started powering up for his next attack. "Diamond Slamming Attack!" Armadillomon sent himself flying in the air towards Tentomon, who couldn't dodge in time. As the mammal digimon went down, Tentomon fell along, taking the impact of the fall as they both hit the ground. "Rhino Spin!" Tentomon began spinning, quickly throwing Armadillomon off him. He also began to spark, lightning bolts streaking out of the tornado that was he. "Diamond Slamming Attack!" Armadillomon threw himself at the tornado, but it reflected and threw him into the wall of the fortress. A lightning bolt followed Armadillomon and hit him as he slid down the wall. "Armadillomon!" the other player called as Tentomon stopped spinning. Tentomon expected the fell of the absorbed data, but all he got was that of Armadillomon's shell slamming in his chest. He had no time to counterattack as Armadillomon tore into him with a barrage of his Diamond Shell attack, causing him to cry out in pain. Armadillomon smirked and scratched the insect hard across the face. "Don't mess with me, ever." Tentomon only moaned and released the required data. Armadillomon absorbed it and walked off, leaving the rookie on the floor. JJ could only watch as Tentomon lost. He felt something deep down. One of his team members had lost. Wait, one of his team members?! Was Tentomon part of his team now? JJ shook his head, ran over to the rookie and picked him up. "You need to rest. That was a great effort," he told Tentomon. Tentomon just nodded and JJ hauled him back over to where he had been standing. That was when he was blinded by the white glow of digivolution. "Oh ****..." JJ muttered as he watched Sheepmon digivolve again to Pajiramon. Ginryuudamon was not faring well. He had gotten a couple of Battle Rod Breaks against Sheepmon, but after he'd pulled out Silence of Rams, Ginryuudamon's ears were ringing and he couldn't hear JJ's commands, which were sparse as it was. Ginryuudamon finally spotted an opening between the Grenades, but it was cut short as Sheepmon was pulled into the white light of digivolution again. Ginryuudamon cursed his luck and prepared himself for the worst. "Pajiramon!" "Armor Piercing Blade!" Ginryuudamon went in for the attack and as he was about to slam his sword into the goat digimon, Pajiramon showed how she could counterattack. "Thunder Stomp!" The ultimate jumped up in the air slightly and brought all four hoofs down; creating a bolt of electricity that flew towards Ginryuudamon. He couldn't dodge and felt the shock run through his entire body. He went down, moaning quietly. Pajiramon laughed and moved in on him. JJ watched, biting his nails. His mind was moving at twenty thousand miles per hour and he didn't know how to stop it. How could he help Ginryuudamon? He looked to Tentomon, but he was sleeping. The Healing Tablet JJ had used still left him in pain, so the player decided to let him sleep. Healing Tablet....Healing Tablet.... That was it! JJ clicked the item button and scanned through the list, sweat starting to break out on his face. There it was! JJ clicked twice and looked at the pop up asking "Are you sure you want to use this item?" JJ quickly clicked Yes and shut his eyes. It was going to either make or break this fight. Ginryuudamon was really starting to worry about losing when he felt the item attach itself to him. Ginryuudamon smiled as he felt something in his mind tell him exactly how to use it. "Jet Boosters are so convenient," Ginryuudamon commented as the boosters kicked in. He shot off into the air, flying high above Pajiramon, who just stared. Then she initiated her countermeasure. "Treasure Bow!" A bow appeared in her hands and a quiver on her back. She aimed for the skies and let the first one lose. Ginryuudamon didn't even see it; he was flying down too fast. He still tried to get into the best position to go for the gold. He needed to hit Pajiramon good and get her down so he could wail on her. If he missed, the battle was over and he had lost. He suddenly stopped and pulled back. He aimed for the ground and fired up the boost. Ginryuudamon was timing everything in his head, counting back from 10. As he hit one, everything happened at once. Pajiramon, who had been trying to hit Ginryuudamon, finally noticed him and let an arrow loose. Himself let loose his Armor Piercing Blade while JJ watched in anticipation. Ginryuudamon's Blade split the arrow and he smacked into the ultimate dead on. This caused the goat to buckled under and fall to the ground. Ginryuudamon's jet booster gave out and he backed up a couple of steps to charge Pajiramon with his blade once more, hitting her straight on in her chest. He felt her armor crack and jumped back. He was about to charge for the third time when Pajiramon realized what had happened. She tried to stand to no avail as her legs were still slowly coming back to her. A panicked look crossed her features as the champion charged for the third time, his blade digging into her. She cried out in pain and devolved, leaving the lowly Elecmon, very hurt, beat up and lying on the ground. Ginryuudamon, out of breath and not really in better shape, also devolved once he absorbed Elecmon's data. This time, along with the rush he got from winning, he felt something else. Something warm down inside, something he hadn't felt before. He padded over to JJ who patted him on the head and muttered about doing a good job. Tentomon had awoken and was currently moping behind JJ. The player gave Ryuudamon a Healing Tablet and walked over to his opponent. He was currently crouched over his partner, cooing at him, with Armadillomon huffing in the background. JJ tapped the player on the shoulder and as he looked up, he punched him in the face. "Don't ever challenge me again, you hear me? I won't be beaten by anything as stupid as you and next time, I'll attack you, and not just digimon vs digimon, capiche?" The player only nodded and JJ and the other walked into the fortress, determination etched upon all three of their faces. Above the fortress a single Digimon was circling, looking for something. He finally found it in the determined look of a player walking into the side entrance of the fortress. Could he be the one he was looking for? Either way, the Digimon decided to investigate, flying down into entrance of the fortress and moving swiftly through the corridors. He had to continue watching this player.
Zen
I'd prefer to be located in Raccoon City, however either Hyrule or The Island will do. I know the most about RC though. I want to be in this because I've heard great things about the first, and I was inticed by White and Jokopoko. I want to make this something to remember, and hopefully be part of something big. From Sengoku: It was a dark, dingy night in Owari district. A muddy rain fell upon the shadow-covered city, the only light coming from the blinking neon lights spread across the several run down bars and opium dens covering the desolate town. All sorts of garbage and rift-raft populated the streets. Thieves, rapists, and murderers hung around every corner on a night like this. Most of the civil citizens of the city were hidden away in their homes, heavy locks keeping out intruders. However, a single man walked through the dangerous and dark ally-ways of the decomposing city. A single man, who seemed almost as dirty as the grungy streets. He was an outsider, and his face was covered hidden by a woven brown cloak draped over his head. He wore a blue kimono, it?s color diminished by dirt and grime. He walked slowly, his demeanor carrying a threatening mystery. As he continued his lost journey through the Owari back allies, a group of undesirables came out from around a corner ahead of him. There were five of them, each one more hostile than the next. Their matching crimson jackets signified that they were all members of the local Yakuza gang. They carried with them small weapons, brandishing them to intimidate the approaching stranger. Their scarred, dirty faces were illuminated by the bright pink and green neon lights of the tavern which the outsider was approaching. One of the thugs stepped forward, scratching his face with the barrel of a revolver pistol. Apparently he was a half-blood as his mechanical hand shone in the lights. The cloaked stranger spoke. ?You men have been following me for the past hour... why?? his voice was that of a young, but strong man. A slight bass mixed in with a traveled rasp. He spoke with a loose authority. ?Listen stranger. Everyone in Owari knows that they gotta pay their dues to the Kenzo gang if they wanna stay... alive on night?s like this.? the lead thug of the group said, allowing his mechanical limb to fall to his waist along with the gun. ?So... you wanna pay up?? ?I don?t require your services I?m afraid.? the cloaked man said. Stepping forwards to the right of the gang member. The gang member quickly raised his pistol to the strangers head. ?It?s either you pay... or you die!? he growled, cocking his gun back. ?How about this...? with that, the cloaked man flung his shroud into the face of the half-blood gangster, causing the other four men to spring into action. A dark stick flung out quickly and struck the first man to approach in the face with a whip like speed, causing him spiral into a wall and fall to the ground. ?You bastard!? screamed another one as he lunged forward with a large dagger, attempting to stab the man. The dark figure stepped back and grabbed the leader of the group, who was still struggling with the cloak over his face. The lunging gangster stopped to avoid stabbing his ally, which gave the stranger enough time to strike him in the throat with his wooden stick, causing him to fall to the ground, gasping for air. The stranger took the leader and slammed his covered head into a steel wall, spinning around, he kicked the downed man in the face, knocking him out. ?Two more of you. Come on...? the stranger said, raising his wooden stick and pointing it at the two Yakuza. ?I?ll show YOU!? said one of them, who?s eye glowed red. He quickly drew a pistol similar to the first one?s and fired into air. The stranger was gone. ?Wha-?!? before the man could finish, he fell unconscious to the wooden baton in his stomach. The shadowy outsider?s face was still dark. The last gangster could only see a glint of light coming from the mans blazing eyes, causing him to squirm back into the wall in fear. ?Who.... who the hell are you?!? he screamed as he clung to the wall. ?Heh. I don?t think it?s worth telling scum like you...? the stranger growled, slowly placing the tip of his wooden baton onto the chest of the terrified gangster. ?But if it were, I?d say Musashi.... Miyamoto Musashi.? ?Wh-what?! M-M-Musashi!?? the gangster stuttered in fear. The dark figure rose his stick and slapped it across the man?s face, causing him to fall to the ground in writhing pain. ?Scum like you aren?t allowed to speak my name. You? You can call me Kensei.? he replied with authority, pointing his stick back down at the grounded thug. ?Alright! Alright!? the man cried out in fear. Musashi looked down to him with slgiht interest. ? Hm... Maybe you can help me...? ?Fine! Whatever you want, just don?t kill me!? he continued to squirm upon the muddy ground. ?Tell me, where is Oda Castle?? Musashi growled, looking down to the thug, who looked into Musashi?s burning eyes with deep terror... ------------------------------------------------------- From The Bounty lll Dark grinned as he looked upon the pain on Mask?s face. Apparently it was something he was unfamiliar with, as he had fallen to his knees from a simple stab wound. He pulled the blade out quickly and stylishly spun around while crouched, cutting the net off of his body. He rose to his feet and brought the edge of his Tenga blade down to the base of Mask?s neck. Placing the cold steel against his neck, Dark allowed the blade to bleed him slightly. He looked in Mask?s eyes with a ferocious arrogance and smirked. ?No... I?m not through with you yet...? Dark growled, bring his knee up quickly with great power into Mask?s chin and sending him through a window, Dark followed his body with his knee still lunging in the air, he landed behind Mask?s downed body. Mask landed onto the dusty ground of dirt, startling all the passers by away, as they all ran away in a frenzy as Dark flew across the air and onto the ground just a foot away of Mask?s head. Mask growled in annoyance and pain as he wiped the blood trickling down his chin away with his hand, rising to a sit slowly. ?Stand and fight, boy...? Dark barked in the midst of a battle rage. ?Shut up!? Mask yelled in anger, spinning around with his baton, he tried to strike Dark in the knees. Dark had anticipated this and flipped over the attack, bringing his sword down in a plunge right between Mask?s legs, digging the blade into the ground. Mask looked up to Dark in a slight fear. ?I said... Stand and FIGHT!? Dark growled again, ripping the blade from the ground and readying himself to slash down on Mask, who quickly scattered to his feet and into a defensive posture. The sun beamed down on both of them as they stared each other down. Mask seemed to be at a point of desperation as he gripped his stun baton tightly, he quickly lunged at Dark as they began trading blows. The sound of clashing steel and electricity providing an intense feeling of battle. Mask rose his hand up in the air to bring his baton down onto Dark?s head, which Dark quickly anticipated and loosed one hand from his sword grip and clasped onto Mask?s attacking wrist. Dark quickly went to cross-slash Mask, who repeated Dark?s move and grabbed his wrist. The two of them gritted their teeth and grunted as they tested for one another?s strength. For a moment, Mask was winning, and then Dark grinned and began pushing onto Mask, bringing down his hands. Suddenly, Mask repositioned his stun baton in his fingers and tagged Dark?s forearm with it, causing him to tighten his holding arm in pain, and his sword hand to loosen and release his sword. The pain of Dark?s intense grip caused Mask to drop his stun baton, and soon, both fighters found themselves unarmed. At this point, Dark began remembering his old training, and looked onto Mask?s struggling face. Dark gave a heave of power, and twisted Mask?s arms over to the side, and began brining knees into his abdomen. Mask quickly flipped over causing both of them to release their grips and look onto each other. Both of them now weapon less, this would show their true strengths. Mask smiled arrogantly and pressed down onto his belt buckle as he began swaying side to side weightlessly, drifting around over the desert sands, he touched his foot on the ground and brought up his fist, he stepped forward at a high speed and lunged at Dark with his fist out. Dark saw him coming and knelt down, cocking back his own fist and unleashing a punch of devastating power into Mask?s belt buckle and stomach. The small device was crushed into Mask?s stomach, causing a small pulse of electricity and the sudden weight gain cause him to fold over Dark?s fist and arm. Dark growled in anger and pushed him off as Mask stumbled back for a moment, trying to regain his footing and center. Mask coughed up a small amount of blood, and looked onto Dark once again, who was grinning in excitement and fury. ?Let?s see how well you fair now, friend...? Dark laughed to himself in a hoarse voice.
Hinata
I know the Island, Mushroom Kingdom and Racoon City fairly well. Any of those three will be a good starting for me. I want to be included because the narration that will have to be involved. I love to describe and I try my best to do so especially when I can't get it across in the conversations throughout the RP. I think its awesome to not have to personify someone but just tell it in general. Two excerpts from Sengoku. The music started slow and solemn as the courtyard darkened. Only the lamps hanging at the four corners of the stage were lit as the young ladies stepped out on the stage and danced in formation. The plays and dances at the Izumo temple were well knwon and loved by much of the local populace. But this did not stop the frequent visitors from partaking in a show. Nor did it stop them from giving the temple money, keeping the grounds as luxurious as they were. The fountains in the background stood out from the melody in the music, but added to the serenity and peace felt throughout the crowd. The ladies on stage moving in slow solemn movements. Soon the music quickened its pace and the ladies spread out and one in the center began to move more irratically to the music. The ladies on the outside soon rushing past her as the movements added to the confusion in the music. The crowd watched excited, a few whispers and points to the stage noted in the crowd but the music ended drastically leaving a silence in the crowd as the ladies stood up on stage encircling the one lady in the center. As the music slowed, the lady in the center moved from in between the ladies, seemingly blessing each woman around her and watching the ladies walk off stage one behind another, before coming to the center of the stage and sinking to the stage floor. The lamps around the stage were put out and the music ended. The clapping started as the lamps around the stage and courtyard were relit. Allowing the crowds and the dancers to see one another as the ladies came back to the stage and threw out tokens of appreciation to each visitor as they walked by. If any visitor wished they were also allowed fortune readings after the show and sokme did stay. Others stayed by the stage wishing to personally talk with the center of attention. Okuni bowed repeatedly to her guests and thanked them for their kindness and support of the temple, before ushering them to other parts of the temple. But one small group was very persistant. They let the other visitors fill out in front of them. One approached as Okuni was about to leave the stage. "Good evening, Okuni-san." He bowed in front of her and she bowed in return. "If you do not mind I would like to speak with you about issues that concern my family." Okuni remembered the particular gentleman. He had approached her only a few days ago about her services. One's that she have denied time and time again. She grew weary of his persistance, but decided to speak with the gentleman once more. "Ah yes," She pretended to remember. "You are from the Fujiwa family. How can we at the temple help?" She stepped off the stage with his help and began to lead him on a tour of the grounds. A few of his minions trying to follow him but he waved them off. Maybe he's beginning to believe what I say. Their conversation was held to a low tone as the proceeded along the grounds, their walk bringing her in contact with many fans whom she blushed and bowed at. He continued to speak taking breaks in between if their conversation was interrupted. "As you may recall, the leader of the Fujiwa family would like for you to have a private performance for him in only a few nights." "As I have told you before my duty is to the-" "-to the temple first. Yes, I remember Okuni-san, and believe me, performing for him will be very lucrative to the temple. We are ready to compensate you greatly for your services. So please reconsider it." Okuni stopped at one of the fountains and stared into the water. The ripples caused by the movement distorted the moon's reflection as she looked into the water. "When would you require my services again?" She continued to look into the water as he stepped closer to her. "In three nights, Yoshi Fujiwa will be celebrating his 50th birthday then and will be ever so greatful to see a miko perform to the god's content. He feels it will bring him great favor for the year." Okuni smiled at this thought as she continued to stare into the water before turning to the man and bowing low to him. "I will be there." She stood up. "Now if you don't mind I must leave and attend to the grounds." "Thank you again Okuni-san." He said grinning as well. "Part of the money will be paid tomorrow and the other half after the performance. Please do well our leader." He bowed as well and then walked away. Her emotions going wild on the inside as she kept calm while the man left. "Okuni!" She was startled by the male's voice and she turned to see the temple's priest. "Another job I see, Okuni." She smiled when she saw his expression and stepped closer to him. "Yes Misako- san. He wishes for me to perform for the leader of the Fujiwa clan." "Ah yes," He answered moving in closer. "Well than please do your best." He turned and moved away from her, leaving her there to continue her thoughts on what she needed to do in three days. __________________________________________________________ As promised, the money from the Fujiwa clan was delievered in the morning. And Okuni was there to receive it, along with the information on how to get to the house. Okuni was used to going to other areas for performances. Her looks and her concentration on the skill of dance making her a touch above the rest, but everything she did she gave back to the temple. She moved away from the entrance of the temple as the young man smiled and bowed before her and then ran away. She could onl smile at the young male child, surprised that he would be smitten with a lady like her. But she quickly moved into the temple giving the total amount of the money to Misako for use for the temple. But she did not stay there to discuss her plans but went further into the temple. The grounds of the temple were just as serene and as calm as ever. Although it was busy with visitors from far and wide. No one stopping Okuni as she moved through the crowds. At this time in the day they were not there to see her but to pray for their gods. That was one thing that the Izumo temple did not due was reject people of other beilefs. They respected all people who came in peace and quietly disposed of those that came with cruel intentions. She even moved with the populace into the temple to pray before moving on to other duties. More so practicing for her event in two days. She stepped into a large room and grabbed a few props from the wall. One a fan, another an umbrella. She stepped into the center of the room and placed the items at her feet. She knelt on the floor and at first grabbed the fan. Keeping it closed she picked it up with her right hand, her left hand holding her right sleeve tight as she lifted the fan up. She flipped her wrist opening the fan. She did an intricate manuever with the fan before dropping it down on the ground. Then she grabbed the umbrella and while kneeling on the ground opened it up and she went in a circle bending back as it went over and behind her then sitting up as she brought it back in front of her. Her body moving fluidly as she sat back up. She stood up slowly with the umbrella and held it over her as if it was protection from the rains and moved slowly back and forth in an undetermined patter across the floor. Soon her dance became a litte more irratic as it continued, but soon she slowed down and became more comforting more seductive, her eyes being shown as the umbrella twirls in front of her face. She withdrew backwards and held the umbrella open as she knelt down and covered herself with it ending the dance. She was startled when she heard clapping in the background and a slight giggle. A younger miko had been watching Okuni's performance and when she was spotted she ran off. Okuni only smiled as she remembered her first time doing the same thing. But the smile quickly wore off as she got back to her concentration on the mission ahead.
Darren
Preferred Location: Racoon City. My second choice would have to be The Island, or Mushroom Kingdom. I don't know much about Legend of Zelda, and I've never played the other ones. I know most about Resident Evil, so I would love that one. But whatever works. Why?: Hmmm, well, I love the concept. I love everything about the game. And I may be new, but everyone was new at one point or another. I'm constantly writing stories, so I'm pretty good. I just haven't had a chance to become noticed on Otakuboards. I think I could be a great addition to the story. Sample: Well, as I've said, I'm new, so I don't have too many excerpts. However, I've been a part of Vicky's Brotherhood of the Wolf So I guess an excerpt from that should suffice.
Kyoto, Japan The Shimozato House 5:32 pm Haruki had been home for two weeks and three days. Despite everything that had happened, he couldn't imagine leaving his father's house. It seemed a bit empty at times, but Haruki ignored that by leaving dirty clothes piled on the floor and dishes left on the table and counter. To him, it was so dirty that it looked like Haruki had a room mate. In the two weeks that Haruki had been home, he dedicated himself to the brotherhood. He searched the internet and local library for any details on this beast. It seemed that every ancient culture he read about had one. Haruki began to think that they were all the same creature. Japan called it a demon soaked with the blood of the earth... The wierdest part was that it didn't have a name in any culture, except that it was a demon, beast, etc. Haruki had also been looking in the current news across the world. He had discovered many stories of accidents... And what could be called terrorist actions, but no one saw how it happened. He surmised that anyone who was close enough to see the beast, probably died before they had a chance to tell anyone. He was trying to follow its movements, but they were so erratic that it was impossible to tell for sure which ones were caused by the beast and which ones by something else. The different patterns gave Haruki three possible destinations that the beast was traveling: Towards the U.K., Down central Asia into India. Or east across northern Russia, possibly headed to Alaska. He didn't know weather or not the beast could travel across water, but he didn't deny it since every culture had some claim of it's existence. It seemed like every time Haruki would come close to completing his study of the beast that a new accident would pop up or he would find new information about the beast. In a span of two, barely-rested weeks, Haruki thought it was time to give the brotherhood a rest and do a bit of living. Unfortunately for him, he recieved an e-mail later that day: Brother Shimozato, My name is Tala-Taima. I'm sure you know who I am. I was very pleased to hear of your induction into the brotherhood. I have heard nothing but good remarks from Brother Effrom. I am sorry about your father and while I've never met him personally, my father talked of working with him in America on several occasions. The brotherhood is having a meeting for all new and old members at our underground HQ, and I would like for you to be there. If you wold like, Brother Effrom or myself could meet you at the airport in England. You would need to leave either today or tomorrow. I look forward to seeing you there, Brother Taima Haruki sighed... Maybe he shouldn't have spent so much time eating noodles in front of his laptop. It was finally time to join the real ranks of the brotherhood. At least he would be able to size up the other members and see where he ranks. He searched the internet for tickets to London, but none were available for 4 days. However, there were a couple seats left leaving the airport in 5 hours that went to Berlin, Germany. From there, Haruki could get a later flight to London. Without even glancing for any quicker options, he booked the flight from Kyoto to Berlin at 10:00 pm, and Berlin to London at 5:00 pm the following day. Haruki figured that it would give him enough time to investigate the supposed attack just 20 minutes outside Berlin and he would be able to tell if it was truly the beast or not. Haruki sent a reply to Brother Taima and proceeded to get ready for the trip. He wasn't sure how long it would take so he packed enough to last him a week or two. Then, Haruki took his fully charged laptop and called a cab. He would use some of the small fortune his father left him to pay for the taxi and the plane. With that, Haruki grabbed his weapons and loaded them into their specially designed cases, and headed out the door to wait for his taxi. A few hours later, he was boarding the plane for Berlin, praying that the beast hadn't struck there. If that were the case, then he guessed that it was heading directly for the Brotherhood headquarters; Something that would end terribly for everyone.
Charles
Hey Darren, welcome to OtakuBoards and my RPG. That was a terrific sign-up; I'm very happy with it. Excellent effort. As for this RPG--well, you know, I'm not terribly happy with the lack of interest it's received. I had actually made a rather angry post in here where I had decided to cancel the RPG. Soon thereafter, I cooled down and decided to delete my ***** fest. Obviously, that hasn't stopped people who are still able to view the post from showing it to others (which is fair enough I guess), but overall not much harm was done and everything has been straightened out. I've spoken with White about this and he's still supportive about the game and thinks it can be successful--and I think he's right. So, I'd like to get this underway soon (like within the next 24 hours). Obviously, not as many people signed up as I would have liked, so the way the game is going to be played will have to be amended slightly. On the other hand, the quality of the participants that have signed up are better than I had hoped for. It looks like we have eight rpers signed up. With White's participation we will have nine. Zidargh has expressed some interest, and I would like to get Papa Smurf involved. So, what I would like to do based on the number of people we have to work with for sure at this time, is play the game exactly like it was intended--only instead of dividing people up between worlds, everyone can take turns throughout (except Shy whose role would pretty much remain the same). Of course, I would accomodate those of you who don't have a great knowledge of a certain series by limiting your involvement in trouble areas--and we'll have an Underground thread we can use to answer questions and post up whose turn it is. Most of the storytelling should be easy with the plot points and well known characters though. If there's some kind of sudden spurt and several quality people sign up before the game starts, and we move the participant list up to 15, then we'll be able to go to the original plan (which seems doubtful right now). I still think this will be one of the best RPGs the boards have hosted, and it'll be great to bring out the best in everyone and show those who didn't give it a chance what they're missing out on. :catgirl:
Anakoni Stark
Prefered Location: Racoon City Secondary Location: The Island Reason For One: it seems that no one is interested in the town where everyone says hello by eating each other. Reason For Two: I hate the kingdom heart series, this may change my opinion Samples: Two from the fast and the furious rp, and Two from the separation game rp: 1.
Brian got out of bed as he heard the clock buzz atop the oak nightstand, he wondered why the races were being held in a small country. He shuffled to his computer to find that he had two messages waiting in his inbox. "Ok, one from the parents, and one from Rei....hm." He sat there reading through the messages. His train of thought came across his girlfriend, he sat there and thought about it. "She's gone now, nothing I can do. I mean she died of cancer... I'm glad she shipped my Ducati, though!" He sat there trying to erase her from his mind, no luck as he read the next letter: "Yay!", he said flattly as he read it over again, "I've got to enter this one." He typed back a response telling her that he being going to the race in his skyline. He opened the next message with caution, he knew it was from his relatives who work for the CIA: "How's Monaco going, Alex? We hope all is well for you, your first assignment is to enter the races, and win them. No questions asked. Love, your extended family, The Fishers." "Wow, I wonder how Uncle Sam and Auntie Katie keep a straight face, albeit they are putting their "son" on the line? Well they do work for the government..." He wondered, as he felt strangely weak. "Gotta go, eat, to the bar it is, then." He got dressed in his average outfit, and was about to leave the room when he realised he almost forgot something "I'm going to need this...." he muttered as he took his 9mm pistol and moblie phone, then shoved them into his pocket. He walked down the hall, thought about taking a lift, but instead he ran down the stairs to the garage, he got into his skyline and turned up the stereo. Helicopter by Bloc Party boomed within the car, as he pulled out of the garage and activated his gps to head off to a bar. As he sped down the road, humming the words, and taking note of the local girls looking at his car and making notitions to call them. "This will be my heven, if my work doesnt get in the way." ___________________________________ Instead of driving to the bar, he pulled on the handbrake, and did a 180, and drove back to his hotel room. "You know I shouldn?t enter this race this time, I mean the Interpol will be there and if I get caught, who knows what the hell could-----" he stopped theorizing for a second. Pulling out his mobile phone, he looked through his phonebook, and dialed rei's number. He waited a calmly for a dial tone, whilst driving back to his room, with The Prodigy's "Hot Ride" playing through the sound system. The phone had picked up "Hello?" "Hello...." "Rei, there something important---" "Please leave your message after the tone, thanks!" He let out a sigh of frustration, and left his message. "Rei, look, I know I didn?t tell you this before, but....I'm....a....undercover cop. Don't fret though, I can get the Interpol off this race, make them look into...um I don?t know, the underground prostitution scene...? he laughed slightly before continuing on, "I'll be at the race but don?t expect me to be at the starting line. Ok see you around." he hung up his razr, and let the valet do his parking. While waiting for the lift, he felt a slight poke on his back with a girly giggle. "Brian...I thought you'd stay in Vegas...." he turn around to his surprise, he saw his girlfriend, Jessica Wesker, standing there.?Wait a second...aren?t you supposed to be dead? Either than or I've been drinking too much again..." he inquired as they both got into the lift, she hit the number three on the control board. "No, I'm not an illusion; you went to my friend's deathbed." She laughed playfully, as they both got out of the lift. "You do have a room right?" he asked her in a more serious tone, she looked a one end of the hall to the next. "No. I don?t. Are you telling me you've moved on?" he stopped three steps to his door, "No, of course not...." she smiled as her had heard this and ran down the hall towards him, she was going to walk into the room when he put his hand out to serve as a restriction bar, "What kind of wine do you drink?" he asked, "The really expensive kind." they both smiled as they walked into the room.
2.
Brian woke up to the sounds of A Static Lullaby Vs. My Chemical Romance "Got to change my alarm to Thrice vs. Alkaline Trio....Maybe later..." He quietly told himself. He reached over to the left side of the bed, "Hmm. She's probably up now...." He muttered. He got of the king size bed, and shuffled down the stairs, to his surprise he heard no girly humming, or the sounds of foodstuffs on the hobs, "Jessie??? Are you home?? no reply. He ran around the house in a slight panic, as looked for his girlfriend, "Maybe she went shopping or out to the track, without telling me...yeah, that's it..." He muttered in a harsh whisper, the feeling of paranoia escalated through his train of thought as he ran down the stairs, into the kitchen trying desperately to search for a yellow sticky note, no luck. It finally hit him, when he looked into the mirror, "Wait a damn second...The costume...it's not supposed to be on, unless I'm in danger....." He thought about taking it off, 5 minutes pass, and nothing happened. "Oh crap, my costume's supposed to do whatever I command it to do!" He walked outside, the cars all neatly parked, it seemed normal, till he looked up into the sky, a plane sat perfectly still. "There's something going on...And it's not good, this better be a dream...I've got to wake up soon." he ran down the street, looking for other survivors. _____________________________________ Brian stared at Damien in disbelief, "But you're supposed to be dead....this can't be, what Lucifer has been up to now?? he said in a slightly puzzled tone, he now noted that Locke was unconscious on the ground, ' well in the first place he wouldn?t hit us back....on that note he wouldn?t come back from the dead...' he thought. "Damien!" Brian called out in a demonic tone, " Just calm down, we're here to help you!", he took noted that the teenager was only a one foot away from him, ' ok, that didn?t help.....', in frustration and confusion he pulled out his machine pistols, and jumped out of Damien's line of attack. "Alex, don?t do it!" Toki screamed, ?Shut Up! This is for our safety!" He growled, his voice becoming more demonic, he pulled the triggers and two steady streams of 9mm bullets were flying towards Damien, four seconds later, the possessed teen stopped in his tracks, full of bullet holes, that bled, not blood, but a black substance. "What is that stuff?" Bear inquired, " I don?t know, Bear" he replied, on that note Damien hit the ground. The group reformed and attacked Brian verbally for shooting him down, "Look, it was for our safety, would you guys want to be like everyone else? Ghosts?" Brian growled. The answer was silence. "Exactly, now let's go before ----oh ****." The group turned around to see that Damien, wasn?t on the ground anymore, the bullet holes and the gash on his forehead had healed, he stood there as if nothing happened. The group still stood there in shock, "I could of told you he would come back, but that'd result in more---", Brian was sent flying backwards...straight into a sharp spike jutting out from the rubble.
Papa Smurf
Primary Location: Angel Land or Raccoon City Why I should be in this: because I'm Smurftastic?
?Rubbing Salt in the Wound? Sodom. We had to stroll into Sodom. We?re walking to filth. Agony. The smell of sin. The town reeks of it...the entire damned thing. The city?s a plague upon this land, a pestilence, a disease, a poison that infects people down deep, down into the pits of their blackened souls. We?re still too far away to see the town, but I can already feel the pain and anguish. It?s a howling and stabbing pain, the kind that tears at your heart like daggers. It?ll carve it out of your chest if you give it the chance. We walk a bit farther. The city of woe appears like a specter. The walls are stained with the blood and juices of men and women who couldn?t get away from the fiends and hordes?they glisten like the intestines of a fresh sacrifice on the altar. Sodom. In there, every day is a sacrifice. Every day, something bad happens to someone. If they?re lucky, they?ll only get raped. That?s if they?re lucky. Most aren?t that lucky. They would pray they could be that lucky. The history of this damned place echoes through my head like the voice of the Almighty himself. It?s been too long for this city. The cleansing is going to happen. There are some who say it can?t be cleansed, that it should be wiped out completely. Burned to the ground. Buried. But that?s the idea, I think to myself. Some day, people have said, this entire city is going to disappear. And that?s exactly what?s going to happen. We reach the city gates and a stranger runs up to us. I tense up. My hand reaches across my chest, down into my cloak. If this mortal wants to pick a fight, he ain?t gonna be expecting what I?ve got for him. Most of them wouldn?t. With a wave of my hand, I could boil his skin and make his body fester with disease. I could make him long for death. It?d be sweet salvation compared to what sulfur and brimstone could do to him?charred flesh, extra-crispy. His family would look at him and scream like a choir of banshees straight out of Hell. My hand clenches into a fist. I?m on-edge. Too on-edge. Too high-strung. It?s times like these that remind me what I am and what I need to be. I?m no killer. I kill and slaughter, but I ain?t no killer like the slime in Sodom. The stranger bows down in front of me and my pal. He doesn?t look us in the eye or anything. Guess he?s too scared. Or maybe just too polite. He starts talking, ?Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways.? I don?t know what this guy?s thinkin, but his offer raises the hairs on the back of my sunburned neck. Something?s not right about it. Something doesn?t click. What?s his hand, I wonder. We?re playing a game here, and he might have something up his sleeve. We decline the invitation. We?ll enjoy the night air and walk the streets we tell him. We see if we can force his hand. It works. The look on his face tells us what we?re wanting to know. We see a revelation in his eyes. It?s fear and danger. Sex. Pain. A symphony of terror with high staccatos and strings that grinds like a cheese grater on your ears. He keeps his voice steady. He tries to stay calm, but his eyes scream like the creatures of the night in the lousy parts of town. The offer?s repeated. More force this time. This guy is playing hardball. He means business. He offers us shelter for the night, food, a footbath. Kindness and generosity are the outsiders in this walled-in wasteland?just like us. We ask him his name. Lot. He says his name is Lot. Looks like we?re spending the night at Lot?s place. Things just got interesting.
Oh, I have some fun ideas how to make either Angel Land or Raccoon City exceedingly dark and disturbing, so I hope even though I'm still kind of new around here, I'm given some fun freedom to warp the world around me. Revelation
Starting Point- It?d be nice to start off in Mushroom Kingdom since Super Mario is the best game XP. As for my second options, it doesn?t really matter. I know The Island and Hyrule pretty well, as for Raccoon City and Angel Land- it calls for creative thinking but I can manage. My Reason- As for wanting to be in this, I haven?t seen many RPs that catch my eye and Lost Dreams was something that White told me about and I told him that I?d check it out when it came out. Now that it did, I?m struck with awe and I?m sure that this RP will challenge my creativity. Sample-
?Papy, papy!? A small face peered out from behind the newspaper that Monsieur Nikolas Cloutier was reading. The child?s face gleamed with happiness and joy, something so rare to see and whenever this child ran up to Nikolas with his glowing smile, Nikolas couldn?t help but put his newspaper aside and take this child into arms. The strange thing about this child, though, was that he was special, he just didn?t know it. At the age of ten, Leonell Cloutier stood at the height of five feet and two inches with wild sandy brown hair and blond highlights, glowing round hazel brown eyes, and strange enough, a scar running diagonally on the left side of his neck which started near his ear and ended near his collar bone. Leonell was a vibrant boy who had no recollection of his younger years as a wee babe nor did he remember how he had obtained his scar, but the few things he knew was that he had a love for adventure, imagination, and the unknown. Although for him, there was nothing better than to sit by the fire and listen to his grandfather speak of unknown lands, valiant heroes, and nearly impossible tasks. ?Tell a story, grandpa? Leonell looked at his grandfather as he began to climb onto the sofa and sit next to Nikolas, his grandfather. ?Tell a story, s'il vous plait?? Chuckling, Nikolas took Leonell and covered him with a homemade blanket. The two then became snug in the blanket and Leonell was anxious to hear his grandfather?s story. ?You want to listen to a story?? The grandson nodded his head vigorously; once again Nikolas couldn?t help but chuckle. ?Alright then. How about ?Les Prince et Les Pauvre??? Getting comfortable underneath the blanket, Leonell prepared himself for the wonders this story would bring and did not know what sort of adventure it would become, where it would take him, nor what awaited him, moreover out of all the unknown, something greater awaited him for what he was about to hear wouldn?t just be a story. + + + + + In another part of France, there lived another boy similar in age and appearance, except differing in personality. This child?s name was Marleon Lefebvre who also was ten years of age standing at five feet and two inches and glowing round hazel brown eyes. Though his hair was sandy brown, it wasn?t wild but tamed and set apart in a somewhat sophisticated look. He also had a scar that ran from near his right ear and ended near his right collar bone on the right side of his neck. Marleon was in a situation reciprocal Leonell?s- no remembrance of his younger years or of how he had obtained the scar but the things that were certain to him was that he had a love for adventure, imagination, and the unknown. Unlike Leonell, Marleon never had the freedom of sitting by the fire and listen to his grandfather speak of unknown lands, valiant heroes, and nearly impossible tasks. He was taught to become one of the most sophisticated and well-renowned people of the world. ?Grand-mère, may I listen to a story?? Marleon walked up to his grandmother and kneeled by the burning fire that warmed the entire room. She was knitting a scarf while sitting in the rocking chair with a blanket covering her legs. ?Grand-mère, tell me a story, s'il vous plaî.? She put down the knitting needles and yarn aside, taking her adopted grandson into her lap. ?A story? Since you asked so nicely, I think I?ll have to.? Smiling, Marleon?s grandmother held onto him as she began to rock back and forth in the chair. ?Tonight, I?ll tell you a story of ?Les Prince et Les Pauvre??? Sitting himself comfortably on his grandmother?s lap, Marleon awaited the power of the story, the thrill of the fable, and sat there, waiting to listen closely to the words of the story. He had no idea of the beauty this story possessed, nor did he know the journey it would become, yet most of all, there was not even an inkling of what would await him for what he was about to hear wouldn?t just be a story. + + + + + Three years later, something evil swept over the country side in France, which slowly began to consume the rest of France, and with it, its people. Terror struck in every home, people feeling too frightened to even step out, fearful of the army of darkness that walked the streets. It was a time of darkness and with that darkness; an army walked along side it. This army was deviant and destructive, taking away children and parents from their homes because they dared to speak the words of fables and stories. Questions were unanswered, rumors were spread, yet the only constant thing that rushed about the people was fear of the Forest and the army who followed the orders of the Dark Lord. After some time, the people in France slowly began to conjure up some courage and go about their daily routines but dared not to speak the words of any fables or stories for they knew what the consequence was of speaking it. This had begun to deprive children of their imagination and their will to be happy. There was nothing worse for the townspeople than seeing their children unhappy but what could they do? Happiness was only brought by the times of stories and tales, when family sat together and enjoyed a laugh or two from the adventures they could think of from stories told to them but it was taken away into the Haunted Forest, a forest that began to grow with the oncoming darkness. Soon enough, there was only a handful brave enough to speak of wonderful journeys, courageous heroes, and malicious villains so that they may see their children smile just once. Yet, just as soon as they spoke these words, the army would take them away, leaving behind their family. For Leonell Cloutier and Marleon Lefebvre, as well as the handful of people, what was meant to be a bedtime story had now become a living nightmare. As time passed by, the Dark Lord and his army ruled France, they took whatever they wanted and even housed themselves in people?s homes. If the people disobeyed the Dark Lord, they were taken to the Forest, which had become detesting and tiring. For many, they wanted to do something but couldn?t. It was out of their hands and they had no knowledge of what to do for only a few had their families to help them and guide them, except for Leonell Cloutier and Marleon Lefbvre but each other. Leonell and Marleon both left their houses and followed the dark army, in hopes that they would be able to save their grandparents but the dark army disappeared just as they came to the edge of the Forest. It was at this moment that the two had come to realize their uncanny likeness, as if they were each other?s reflection. Without guidance and unanswered questions, and a feeling of loss, Marleon and Leonell had to do something, they had to enter the Haunted Forest. Even though, they wished to enter this dark world, they did not realize the dangers ahead. They didn?t understand the difficulty of the Forest or what lurked within. They couldn?t do it alone, they needed help. And so, upon finding newfound friends who shared an equal goal, the group believed they could enter the Forest and return with them, their loved ones and destroy this evil that had come.
EDIT: Sorry it took so long, Charles. ^_^;;
Charles
I'm just dropping a line to let everyone know that I haven't forgotten about the RPG. I really just prefer to avoid rushing the sign-up process in order to get the most out of it as possible. But now, I'm just about ready to roll with this. I'm simply waiting to speak with White on AIM to cooridinate a few things. If we don't see one another on AIM later then I'll just settle for PM and we'll still launch it sometime tonight. [strike]And Revelation, I'll be glad to admit you into the RPG but only after you provide a sample RP (which I assume is coming judging by your post). After all, it would be kind of ironic if I let the moderator of the writing forum in without a writing sample.[/strike] Edit: Ah, excellent Revelation.
