Akieen Cloud
It is 3006, and the earth is rundown and dieing. THe cities are crumbleing to the ground and creatures of the nightare running rampage on the remaining humans that are trying to correct the mistake that their ancestors made in the past and bring mother earth back to life. Now useing water to fule cars and sunlight to fule their houses it is a harsh living for them, some even migrated into space to get away from the harsh living conditions and formed space colonies around the world. And the conditions on earth keep getting worse every night and day as the monsters from the horror movies and their nightmares are coming to life every hour and second they live; but there are those that protect the remaining humans in the cities, hunters of the hunters. She stood in the seemingly innocent garage sharpeing her arrow tips and tipping them in silver, then dipping them in silver nitrate. The city was quiet as usual except for the clubs and street raceing, she enjoted the noise of the races, they made her adreniline pump knowing that one could possibly crash into her home, her working area. She flipped her hair back and took a deep breath to steady her hands as she worked longer into the sinking sunlight. Tapping her boot toe against the concrete floor she knew she didn't have much more time, she knew that soon she would have to go out and do her work. Work that she volenteered fro at the age of 7. It was chilling work but it was something that had to be done. She looked over atthe clock beside her and scofed; she had been at this for nearly 6 hours this time and she wasn't about to stop untill she absolutely had to. She felt her ears twitch as she heard a scream in the distance. She had to. She cursed silently and gathered up what was finished and slung the equipment onto her back, making sure her guns were snug on her theighs and hips she felt her arm and felt a slight reassurance as she felt the blade there as well. She grabbed her helmet and i-pod and as she went out the door she grabbed the holster that held her bow and satchel of arrows for long distance shooting that she knew the dense silver bullets would never reach. Putting the ear phones in her ears she placed the helmet over her head and smiled smugly as she heard Three Days Grace, Animal I Have Become begin to play in her ears. 'Ironic' she thought. She lifted her body from the seat of the Black, Red, and Silver Kawasaki Nija she sat upon then dropped kicking it to life under her. She felt the bike race forward as she shifted the gears. She had heard the scream from downtown, only 2 minutes from where she was now, she wondered if she could make it on time. They usually had their prey cornered and played with it befroe they ate it, it was their way. She shuddered as certain thoughts went through her mind. She felt the razor phone on her hip viberate but ignored it knowing it was Dr. D from the agency telling her what she already knew. The tires squealed as she put on the brakes hard makeing the bike fish tail to a stop. She was right, they had the young girl cornered in a closed off alley and were playing with her. 'The more frightened they are, the better they taste'. That was what her father had always told her, another shiver ran up her spine involentarily. She let out a sharp whistle and smiled as she took off the helmet and slipped on a pair of dark sunglasses even though it was night already. They turned on her growling fircely, any other human would have run...but then again she wasn't any other human was she? She put out the kick stand and slipped off, her ankle high boots sounding heavy on the black top under her feet, her black tank top and short jean shorts made her look vaunerable with skin showing. the gloves on her hands were black as well, as most of her attire was these days, open fingerd and ending at her wrists braceing them for when she hit her prey. Her long dark hair was loose and flowing also giving her a look of weakness that she knew was to her advantage since they never used all their strength thinking she was weak. Her eys took in everything from under the sunglasses. She rolled her eyes as the Razor phone rang again, and as if it were a ring from a bell they attacked her. She was slightly shocked by their speed, they were faster then what she thought they hould be but never the less she sidestepped and grabbed one by the back of the neck and threw it, hearing the resounding crack of breaking bones as she broke its neck in the process. She felt a smile tug at her lips but willed it away. The others attacked and in a flash she had her guns out shooting them in the chests, the liquid silver in the bullets hit their blood streams almost insantly makeing them fall and howl in pain they lay at her feet twitching and foaming at the mouth, as blood filled their lungs and throat as they died. She walked up to one as it changed and rolled it over. She felt a stab at her heart as she found that it was nothing but a little boy; they were getting desperate for new hunters to keep their race from being wipped off the earth. She finally answered the phone as it rang and viberated again. "What?" "We need you to come to head quarters. We have some disterbing devlopments in Scottland." "And why would you need me?" "They are growing in size and number every night. Not only that the clans are merging." She heaved a sigh and spoke into the phone as she threw the bodies into the dumpster and poured lighter fluid on tthem and then setting it on fire. Walking over to the girl she grabbed her squirming form and held a pressure point till the gilr went limp in her arms then gave her a small shot and flipped her over her own shoulder easily. Carrieing her to a near by club she dropped her off out front by the door, fifteen minutes she would wake up dizzy and think she was drunk, had passed out and had a bizzare dream. "So what do you want me to do about it. This city has enough problems." "We're putting a team together of the best hunters from around the world and bringing them here to go with you." "I don't need the cub scouts going with me D." "I understand this Rayven, but it is crucial that we know for sure that this infestation will be taken care of no matter what." "You think I can't handle it on my own don't you?" "I never said that Ray. All I'm saying is that it might do you some good to work with others for once." "You know why I don't. You think they'll want to work with me when they find out what I am?" "That is why when they get here for the breifing and meet the rest of the team we will tell them then and if any object to working with you then we will send them home to their own country or state or where ever the live, is that alright?" "I don't like it D. You know I hate telling people that information." "Which is why you live alone and why your so uptight. Relax every now and then." "I exorsice. That's my relaxation." She could hear him scoff and begin to cough on the other line. "It's prgressed hasn't it D?" "That's none of your bussiness Ray. Just get here and be ready to meet the others and leave in two days. Got it." "Hn." She snapped the phone shut and kicked the bike back to life slipping on the helmet and turned towrads the outskirts of the little city and revved the engine heading that way. Thoughts raceing through her mind. She was a hunter, she was a half breed. She hunted the hunters, the Werewolves and other monsters that trailed into the city. The vampires had lond since left but the Werewolves would not give up so that was her speciality these days. sure she had some garlic and holy water stashed somewhere in her gargae but had not needed it in nearly 2 years. The information that D had given her troubled her. Werewolves were not native to Scottland, Banshies were what lived there and yet here she was about to get briefed on the situation in Scottland, on werewolves and not only that she would be working with a team? She was anything but a team player. Antisocial and quiet she hated being around people. She rolled D's words over in her mind about the clans in Scottland merging, that meant that a powerful Were' was leading them. They ran on usually one thought dearing the night and that was the thrill of the hunt, but the was D had described it made it sound as if they were hitting diffrent towns on a schedule, as if they were...planning what to do. 'Not acceptable' she stopped infront of a run down building in the desert out side the city and walked in. Turning to the left she pulled the empy water jug fromthe shelf and took a stance to keep her balance as the platfrom under her move down into the rest of the building under the sand. She slpped the sunglasses on and walked off the platform letting it rise back to its original place above ground. "D!" The young man poked his head from a cubical to the left, he looked dimished and pale; he had lung cancer but refused to get the correct treatment. Which made his aperrance fragile, though she knew that was far from the right case. She could smell the cigeratte smoke on him from the front of the main lobby and heaved a sigh. "Over here Ray." Her boots made dull 'thunks' as she walked on the pristine tiles of linolium, looking intot he cubical she could see chats and scans on the compter falshing quickly, quicker then a human should be able to read but then again, D was no normal human either; not likeher but the same as her in so many ways, his brain was like a small computer in its self. He was the only one she respected in this damn organization. "One day those things ARE going to kill you you know that right D?" "Ray, I didn't know you cared." "You practiaclly raised me, without you, I have no one to have intelligante converstaions with." "You only give my questions a dull 'Hn' for an answer, what make that so intellagent?" "Hn." "See?" She rolled her eyes and looked from the screen to him, here yellow eyes peeking over the rim of her shades. "Well?" "Punctual as ever I see." She frowned and cleared her throat to let him know she was serious now. "It'll be some time before the others arrive, you probably have a day or so, some are coming from a ways away. you'll know what I know when they know as well. Your working with them as a team and no one will kow what I know before any others do. Got it?" She rolled her eyes and nodded, turning she headed from the bright room into the gym in the back of the large square entrace room then down the left hall. She opened the double doors gald that no one else was there and began to go over all her thoughts again as she waited for the rest of the 'team' as D loved to put it, to get there. She was dreading this more and more every second she thought about it and every time she heard about it. One thought kept going through her mind over and over. 'The clans shouldn't be merging...it is against their law...they should be killing each other, not helping each other...it makes not sense...does not analyze.' She looked at the artificial window as lightning flashed and a storm rolled in, she silently thanked the geniuses that made this place for putting it underground; she hated rain. OCC: Alright everyone here we go! Hopefully once this gets going others will want a part in the action. :D Meet at the underground building and wait till everyone is there then head for a breifing room. Happy Hunting!
Redemption
A howling wind whipped around Nyx as she walked the empty streets of Prague in the Czech Republic. The night was the perfect time for her routine stroll. She nuzzled into her scarf, which was tightly wound around her neck. What a bitter bite this wind has? The sky was crowded with dark clouds. Nyx almost wished it would snow. But the wind would shatter the delicate snowflakes before they even touch the ground. This thought made Nyx feel somewhat sad. She would have like to have seen the ?city of a hundred spires? covered in a light dusting of the white icing. This city had been her home for the past few months. It was a known hotspot for her chosen profession. There were many other Hunters, like her, staying in this most beautiful of cities. The gothic structures that surrounded them seemed to embrace the dark, sinister creatures that dwelled in them, posing as the gargoyle statues in the day. A tall, muscular man bumped into her shoulder as they passed each other. He turned and apologised to her. Nyx said nothing back, but noticed the small bulge on his hip ? a fellow Hunter. Obviously he was searching for the wyverns that were said to terrorise the night time streets. ? You shouldn?t be out here on a night like this,? he said, concern clear in his voice. ? As should you. Your skills aren?t strong enough for these creatures just yet,? Nyx replied. The man looked at her confused, as if he didn?t know what she was talking about. Nyx could sense the whirl of thoughts going around in his mind. She smiled to herself, her smirk hidden behind her scarf. This man was thinking about the rumours of the Hunter nicknamed Ghost. Ghost was a Hunter that was well-known around these parts. No one could tell you if the person was a woman or a man, but most have seen him or her in action. They all tell of her amazing acrobatic displays, as well as her finesse in wielding a chain-like weapon and an oriental-looking sword. Of course, Nyx was this infamous Hunter Ghost, hence the reason for her smile. She enjoyed the anonymity of the title, as well as her appearance. Most people in real life, when she wasn?t hunting, couldn?t tell if she was a man or a woman. Her hair was short, her chest was fairly flat and her voice could be taken either way. ? How did you know that?? the man asked, a tone of anger creeping into his voice. Nyx?s almost-black eyes stared him down as a piercing screech echoed above them. The slow, rhythmic beat of leather wings greeted Nyx?s ears as she turned around, seeing the large leathery beast dive towards them, its sharp taloned feet stretched out towards them. Diving to the side, she knocked over the man as the wyvern swooped down on them, its talons barely missing her back. Nyx looked up wildly, watching the creature wheel around, ready for another attempt. There were frightened screams from children and women inside the buildings near them as the wyvern approached. Nyx stood quickly, facing the wyvern. Her eyes glinted with adrenaline. She felt her mankiri slide down the sleeve of her shirt. As the wyvern came closer and closer, the adrenaline in her body heightened to a point where she felt she was capable of anything. The wyvern gave another screech and narrowed its focus to Nyx. The talons of the creature were two feet away when Nyx stepped to the side and hooked her mankiri around them, lifting her up off the ground as it soared into the air. It screeched and struggled, trying to get its feet free. Nyx managed to climb up onto the wyvern, clinging to its spiny back. It thrashed side to side, trying desperately to get Nyx off its back. It barrel-rolled in the air but that didn?t deter the female Hunter. Up ahead, she could see that it was heading for St. Vitus Cathedral ? the biggest and most important church, historically and architecturally, to the country of the Czech Republic. A slight sting of panic ran through her mind as she tried to steer the wyvern away from it, using the mankiri to urge it in another direction. Instead, the wyvern flew higher. Nyx noticed the wind had died and snow started to fall. She looked around at the rooftops of the city, trying to decide where to slay the wyvern without causing too much damage or disturbance. But before she could do anything, the long neck of the wyvern snapped around at Nyx, grazing her arms with its jagged teeth. Purely by instinct, Nyx reached behind her back and unsheathed her blade. She brought it down with a swift strike, decapitating the wyvern, killing it instantly. Blood sprayed forth, splattering across her face as she and the body of the reptile freefell down towards the cathedral?s spire. Nyx moved over to the wing and clung to it for dear life as the body was impaled by the main spire. The impact was incredible. It flung Nyx across the clay roof tiles of the building. She rolled and then fell down to the ground with a heavy thud. A small scream of pain escaped her lips as her shoulder bashed against the hard ground, dislocating it. For a few moments, Nyx lay still as if life had escaped her. Blood oozed down her arm where the wyvern had clipped it, and stained the pure white snow beneath her. Her eyes were semi-open as she watched a stray cat approach her with caution. The snow fell, slow and steady, dusting her short, charcoal-grey hair with specks of white. The feline licked her hand tentatively and miaowed at her. The young woman moved slowly to a sitting position. Winces of pain left her lips frequently, normally followed by a string of curses in a number of languages. The cat leapt into her lap and snuggled into her. Nyx looked down at it with a warm smile and a soft stroke. ? Loneliness is colder than any winter.? OOC: I?ll do another post for going to the briefing. ^^
