I'm going to give a picture that all three of you will work independantly on. All you have to do is take the picture and, following the guidelines, make some prettyful artwork. :) The winning team will be decided by the members of OtakuBoards (though this isn't the last you'll see of the judges). How it will work is every vote someone gets will be worth 1 point. However if a member of the two person team gets a vote, that automatically gives their teammate half a point. So let's say The Boss and I are on a team against Dragon Warrior. Someone votes for DW, he gets 1 point. Someone votes for The Boss, he gets 1 point and I get half a point. If the singular person wins, the other two competitors are eliminated. If one of the team members wins, only the singled out person is eliminated. If you're interested in voting, see my newest post in the underground. So! Onto the graphic that you need to use. Click here. Aaryanna
Eep! I?m so nervous about this since you guys are so much better at this than I am. >_< Still I worked hard on this and I?m happy with how it turned out so here it is! Halloween Moon I think I'll go run and hide now. Please tell me I'm not the only one who's nervous! Retribution
Eh, it's done I guess. Aaryanna, don't be nervous. We did well.
Ellerby
Voting! We've waited quite a bit now and I think it's time to let the community of OtakuBoards submit their critique and comments. You'll be voting for just one of the submissions in each thread. Voting rules can be found here. Voting will end Friday, September 1st at 11:00PM. In this particular case, the opposing competitor didn't post their submission on time. Making Aaryanna and Retribution the winners by default. However, I would still like to let people vote between Aaryanna and Retri for fun. I don't like the idea of them making these art pieces for no reason. :)
jigglyness
Retri gmv. I really like the the blue moon. The sideways text is a very creative add to the piece. I also like how it's simple and clean cut. As for Aaryanna, The haloween theme seems like a good idea but I think the stock images used could have been contrasted a little more to make it stand out a little more and the flying witch could have been cut a bit cleaner, cause you can still see the white outlines. And the blue stars seemed a little too much. Great job both of you. :)
Sara
Aaryanna: Spooky! When I first saw your image, I was stunned by how colorful you made it. The blues and reds on the moon, and the bright blue stars...wow. It does seem like you were going two different directions with this, though. The stars and the colored moon seem like they belong more in a National Geographic issue about some kind of nebula or something. On the other hand, the house, witch, and text would probably have been just as (if not more) effective with the original moon colors. Really nice find on the house image. It fits your text and theme perfectly. With such an eerie, three-dimensional house, though, it's a little strange the the witch is just a silhouette. If I were doing this image, I would have kept the moon the original color, but moved it a little higher on the page so that less of it was behind the house. The house and tree branch (which is my favorite part of the image!) would stay where they are (I might try to find more branches to put around the image, too, actually. I really like the effect of looking through the trees at this haunted house), and the witch would be shrunk a bit and then moved up so that she's fully againt the moon. I think being completely set against the brightest part of the picture would take care of the weird "3d house, 2D witch" problem. I would also have chosen a different font for the text?what you have right now just seems so...cheerful. =] Retri: Simple. Bright. Interesting. Love the satellite imagery achieved with the text. I'm glad the secondary text isn't full justified; that would have made things too simple and symmetrical. Not so much a fan of the font you used for the main text, but it certainly works here. Don't know what else to say, ha ha.
Horendithas
Aaryanna: What I like best is how colorful and vivid your Halloween theme is. The picture for the haunted house is excellent and having a branch from a tree coming in from the side goes really well too. It?s a little to cheerful for Halloween, but overall it?s vibrant and very colorful. The things I don?t care for is the bright blue stars as they distract from the dark tones of Halloween and the witch is too big and just a silhouette instead of being nicely detailed like the haunted house. I too would recommend moving the moon up higher, making the witch smaller and placing her up near the top of the moon and toning down the brightness of the blue stars. And like Sara mentioned, the font is a little to cheerful as well. Retribution: What I like about your piece is the simple clean look to it. The blue and white look nice, especially the contrasting where lunar is white and epoch is blue. And the way you have text running behind it gives it a nice touch. What I don?t care for is overall it just seems too simple. I know its not, but it just seems that way to me. In the end my vote goes to Aaryanna as I like the vivid Halloween aspect of her piece. Especially the Haunted house. Excellent work both of you. Aaryanna
Well this round may be over, but I wanted to thank jigglyness, Sara and indifference for the wonderful input on my piece. They had such good ideas that I re-opened my picture and made changes based on what they suggested. So I ended up coming up with this: Thanks again! I like the second version better than the first one I made. I knew something was off but I wasn?t sure what to do to fix it. ^_^
