musical_kitten
I'll tell you what brought this on: My dad comes home from work today only to tell us that our front porch stinks something fierce, and our dogs are all muddy and gross. We go outside and are killed by the stench. :animenose :faint: (Curiosity really did kill the cat!!!) Anyways, so my mom said that the dumb dogs must've been sprayed by a skunk, and we had to put them in kennel. :animedepr So I go upstairs and change into grubbies, and bugger a mask off of my mom. (She ended up ripping an old rag into strips; I used about three of them.) I go outside and snatch a stick, cause if they touch me I stink too, right? So I shoo the dogs into our wooden, homemade kennel, and they lay down and act as if I just screamed at them. My sister proceeds to hook up the hose and we spray them down. They run around frantically as if I'm getting them touched up for a killing, and finally I get the gunk off of them. I'm breathing deeply, trying not to smell the horrid rank in the air, and as I walk by the car I see myself in the window, and I look like some ninja wanna-be, with these rags over my nose and mouth. My mom is all ticked off cause the dogs rubbed up against the house, the chairs, the wooden posts, everything. :angry2: So she went to town to get some stuff for it. I won't let any of the cats out the front door, and I haven't been outside in hours. So. I was just wondering if you guys have had any experiences with skunks you'd like to share. Did you enjoy it as much as I did?
TheShinje
The joy of living in New Zealand, I don't have much time for skunks, since they don't live in our beautiful country. Though, if we did have skunks over here, and one did in fact, spray me, it would soon be dead. It's self-peserving deterrent would spell it's demise.
musical_kitten
Well, our problem is that they must've gotten sprayed dead-on, cause they still smell even after we attacked them with the chemical stuff. And, of course, its raining, so we had to put them inside our shed so they didn't die of the cold, so now our shed smells and they're wet, so they smell like skunk AND wet dog. Gag. Anyone else have something they'd like to share? Hello? Anyone?
Papa Smurf
Skunks are awesome, especially when you run over one as it scurries across a highway at night. Kathump!
vegeta rocker
my mom and I ran over a skunk once, man it smelled something fierce even though we just caught a whiff. We drove over it and we smelled this horrible rancid odor. It came in through the vents and every possible opening the car had. I looked back and didnt see any body so i think it was just a close call since we didnt feel any thump either. But i cant imagine my animals being sprayed dead on, that must bite. Panda
Try using that hand degreaser that mechanics use. The orange stuff which unfortunately right now I can't think of the name for. It works really well. Another product is called Nature's Miracle Skunk Odor Remover. It's some pretty good stuff. While working in veterinary medicine these two remedies seemed to have the best results for clients' dogs whom have been sprayed by skunks. Did you know there are states where it is legal (or at least use to be a couple of years ago) to de-scent skunks and keep them as pets? The question is what vet do they get to do this job?! I know I wouldnt' want to be anywhere near that surgical suite! Ewww, stinky!

My mom is so mad still cause we used chemicals on our dogs and they still smell!!! I hate skunks sooooooo much. We went on a trip yesterday and ran over like, three of them. They were already dead, you know, but they still smelled somethin fierce. And why on earth would anyone want a skunk for a pet?
