Motorola Razr

DaSilva

I have acquired a free Motorola Razr in ways that will be left unmentioned. The problem is, I have to know the 4-digit unlock code to get into it. Does anyone know any possible way to find this information out? Here's what I have tried thus far:

1)I switched sim cards. The code is apparently on the phone, not the card.
2)I have tried most of the obvious numbers (0000, 1234, all variations of the number 69, etc.)

The only thing that I can think of today is counting from 0000 to 9999. I am up to 0700 right now. Can anyone help me?

Did you.. Steal it?

If so, it might be best you don't know the code.

Someone stole my old cell phone, and I still haven't quite gotten over it. And I know who stole it, but I lack proof.

It costed a pretty penny to replace. But that's not the problem, it's all my ringtones, contacts, text messages, and pictures.. I'll never get all those back.

But if you 'aquired' it legally, I'm sure the person/people you got if from would have some sort of clue.

Also, if you 'aquired' it legally, then you should have no problem calling whatever technical help for such phone.

Either that, or your previous plan of simply counting.

Customer service says that once an unlock code is changed, it can't be recovered. They can't reset the phone to default or anything.

As for the method in which I obtained the phone, its not really illegal, so I will say how. I was just walking through the school parking lot yesterday, and there was this thing. Not a physical thing. It was more like a feeling. I looked around, and there it was, beckoning to me. I picked it up, and pocketed it. You see, I didn't steal it, it called to me. I swear. It needed a good home.

You knew it wasn?t yours and instead of turning it in to the lost and found at the school you instead kept it. That?s lame. You should turn it in. Just think, if it was you who lost it you?d want the person who found it to turn it into lost and found right? Do the right thing and turn it.

Well I later found out who's phone it was. Its the douche-bag captain of the wrestling teams. I actually had given serious consideration to turning the thing in, but karma had caught up to him for being a d*ck to everybody. I don't wanna mess with karma.
Well, obviously you're not getting the 4-digit anytime soon.
Not true. I did the math, and if it takes me 2 seconds to input each code, it only takes 5.5 hours to go through each number. I'm just too lazy to do it.

That's one interpretation. Another is that karma is paying me back for the **** that I have to put up with.

That's assuming you can input each code in 2 seconds. Which you can't.

You see after you input the code, you have to click OK, and then wait or something. Than it says like "Code Invalid" or something and you hit OK. I'm just assuming that if you enter the code and it's wrong it doesn't automatically reset for you.

I have been timed. I put 10 codes in in 20 seconds. It does automatically reset.

Is that so? You're lying.

I just phoned my friend who has a Razr and asked him. He's told me that when he entered his code wrong a message popped up (he said he thinks it said "Flash Failed") and he had to click something to get rid of the message before re-entering the code.

I've called your bluff. Friends FTW.

And no. If you really believed in karma you would know that you finding out who really owns the phone is karma's way of giving you a chance to redeem yourself.

There is no bluff to call. I am not lying. The message says, and I quote, "Unlock code incorrect. Access denied." You do not have to click out of the message. You can exit out of this message by pressing a number, and the number you press goes directly on to inputting the next code that you try. Why would I be lying, anyways?

And I have no need to redeem myself from karma. I have done nothing wrong.

Didn't know that phones could talk but what do I know, telepathy FTW.

However yeah, I would actually return it back because if that said guy finds out that you stole it then your going to be in a world of hurt, in more ways than one. Is it really worth it to go through all of this just over that razor? It seems just to much work anyways.

Besides its just a phone after all yeah?

Be a man and go through all 10,000 combos :p

If you're still even slightly considering returning it, return it now. Once you unlock it, it's gonna be damn harder to return. More of a temptation and all. That's all I'm gonna say cos you dont need another conscience in this thread lol.

Honestly all your posts sound like nothing more than a pathetic justification to keep something you know does not belong to you.

Be a man and return it since returning the phone is a good way to show you?re a better person then the original owner. You never know, it might even earn you a little respect as well. Though at the moment you?re on the minus side in that department with all your justifications as to why you can keep the phone and that you did nothing wrong.

Stop spouting lame justifications and do something since you know its wrong to keep the phone. Let your true character be shown by doing the right thing. Return it!

I'm a firm believer in the right of salvage (or 'finders keepers' if you prefer).
If someone is stupid enough to lose something of value, why should they have it returned?

Being a good citizen is good and all, but I still think you should keep the crappy, damage prone 'Razr'.

I can see that I had better be sure to never leave anything lying around near the two of you. Honestly, it?s just lame that both of you are justifying stealing. And the right of salvage? That wouldn?t even apply in a case like this.

And to call someone stupid for losing something? That?s a lame excuse as well. For all you know the phone fell out of a backpack or was being used by the owner?s friend and they left it behind. It?s pretty stupid to assume that the owner is irresponsible when the one who found it is equally as irresponsible in using that as an excuse to justify stealing.

No matter what fancy semantics you use, theft is still theft. That kind of stupid reasoning is why we have laws against it in the first place.

While everyone is trying to get you to see karma of this situation, or whether you're right or wrong to have taken the phone, I'm going to try a different approach. This guy is the captain of the wrestling team as you have said, if he finds out you stole his phone, he's going to snap you in two, because he's trained specifically to inflict pain on other people. In taking his phone, you will have made him, in all probability, angry, thus if he finds out you have the phone, he will take his anger out on you.

My advice, give back the phone and pray he doesn't find out you had it.
My advice, give back the phone and pray he doesn't find out you had it.
Too late.

I'd not have said this yet if I didn't think he wouldn't see it at school, but last night I googled some information on DaSilva (I'll refrain from the methods for safety reasons, although anyone who wanted to could get as much info as they wanted on any of us anyway lol), and ended up with his high school's phone number and essentially enough information to incriminate him. I called them this morning, and their vice principal should be informed on the situation now.

Seriously, DaSilva, give it back. Razrs aren't worth a crap anyways. The keypad scratches easily, the animation is tacky, it's got a few lousy games AND it takes crappy pictures. Slim phone? Bah, it's as wide as Xbox 360 is huge. It's so lacking that even the useless Nokia 7360 kicks Razr ten ways to Tuesday. If you hate that douchebag so much, give it back; he probably deserves a fugly phone anyways. (Also, I suggest you go over Gavin's post and take it to heart.)

Now if it was from Siemens' shock/water/dust-resistant line or that funky Ericsson/Walkman collaboration, I'd be singing a different tune.

EDIT:
A lot of phones have a feature that locks a phone to a particular sim card. Insert a different sim card and you'll have to enter a security code to get through. I find it extremely odd that the Razr allows more than three tries for security code input.

Wow. Dunno what to think.

It's cool that the loser is getting what he deserved.

But it's extremely odd for someone on a forum to have called his school.

But that's awesome.

Pretty much, that's karma coming back to bite you in the arse, DaSilva.

Simlocks are completely different to phone locks. A simlock doesn't let you enter the phone at all if it has the wrong sim card, and the only way you can undo it is to enter a long complex password that is only obtainable through your carrier or (with some phones) online generators. Phone locks just serve as a first defense to keeping someone out of your ****, and they aren't considered extremely strong, so you get infinite shots at it.
