Pretty much, that's karma coming back to bite you in the arse, DaSilva.
It's not karma when people who can't mind their own business forcefully get themselves involved. Or is it? Maybe it is. Still what John did is pretty amusing.

DaSilva, you're pretty dull in the head to have come here and started a topic like this. That's what is biting you in the *** right now- your lack of forethought that, hey, maybe I shouldn't start a conversation about the phone I stole with dozens of people.

Duh.
But that's awesome.
Totally awesome, dude.

We could start our own OtakuBoards task force just wtfpwning crime. I nominate John for Captain.

Call ourselves the Super Otaku Force.
Simlocks are completely different to phone locks. A simlock doesn't let you enter the phone at all if it has the wrong sim card, and the only way you can undo it is to enter a long complex password that is only obtainable through your carrier or (with some phones) online generators. Phone locks just serve as a first defense to keeping someone out of your ****, and they aren't considered extremely strong, so you get infinite shots at it.[/color']
Hmm, I recall on my old Nokia 3310, if it went to Simlock you got 10 tries before the phone seized up completely and you have to bring it back into a Nokia shop to have it unlocked. Maybe it's different with Motorola than it is with Nokia.

The fact that he seriously had it coming was pretty supplementary. And even if that weren't true, someone forcefully getting themselves involved in a situation like this would only be eccentric at worst.

I was reading the posts, and this is all I have to say:

PWNED.

Though DaSilva, I must say that wasn't so smart to post something like this. But I'm sure you realize that now.

And, notice how he hasn't posted since John "turned him in"? Ooooh~ Double pwned. Karma turned 'right 'round and bit ya.

I'd not have said this yet if I didn't think he wouldn't see it at school, but last night I googled some information on DaSilva (I'll refrain from the methods for safety reasons, although anyone who wanted to could get as much info as they wanted on any of us anyway lol), and ended up with his high school's phone number and essentially enough information to incriminate him. I called them this morning, and their vice principal should be informed on the situation now.
Woah, there goes my though of thinking that people met over the internet wouldn't be able to effect my life in anyway possible. Well given that I didn't do something stupid like talk about a thread such as this one... I mean I guess he had it comming and all but, damn!

Dude, PWNAGE.

I second John as Captain of the Super Otaku Force. Can I be part of it guys? Please? ;_;

I relish the justice that has been dealt, especially after losing my digital camera recently. I wish that if someone had found it, they'd return it to me (if they knew it was mine, anyway) instead of just keeping it. I also hope you have the same predicament, and you instead lose something. You'll see how it feels then.

I've just got one thing to say...DaSilva, you just got SERVED!

I mean, c'mon, it's common sense to give it back if you had an INKLING of doubt about taking it in the first place. But I'm not going to rag on you no matter how much I want to since it's been said and done.

By the way, I third John as Captain of the Super Otaku Force. I want to be part of the Force, too! We can [strike]take over[/strike] help the world.

RARGH. My digital camera and my iPod recently were also stolen recently. I was so angry at myself for being careless, even though both situations were out of my hands after I placed the items in someone else's hands. Yes, I did it twice and I know I'm an idiot.

But Corey, please. Lame. I definitely learned to keep everything I hold valuable to me at all times, it doesn't mean I didn't appreciate what I had before. I work for everything I buy, and it's not like I'm running around throwing out my money everywhere.

Eh, he used his MySpace link provided to the public in his profile. In retrospect it was a rather simple move.

But I still must commend John for actually following through with it. I know I probably would've given an apathetic shrug had I thought about turning him in.

Well there's two kinds of simlock. There's the simlock you yourself set on the phone, and simlock a carrier sets on a phone so you can only use their network. You can change the former, but not the latter.

Super Otaku Force, go![/B'] :catgirl:
Well I?m all for that too. Sounds like fun. ^_~

As for the topic, no need for me to go into depth on it. Plenty of others have already pointed out how lame it was to steal the phone in the first place and then try and justify keeping it. I?d say that what happened is poetic justice and leave it at that.

What can I say, not only are you entertaining John, but today you?re my hero as well. ^_~ Pity someone like you wasn't around when my Playstation2 was stolen last year.

And before anyone talks about losers deserving to have it stolen, the person in question broke the front door lock to my home and did the deed while I was at work. Not the same situation, but still if I find something that's not mine, I'd turn it in as I know how much it sucks to have something stolen.

I would just like everyone to know that John either called the wrong school, or he is lying about calling in the first place. The vice principal, in charge of the discipline "Mr. Adams" has made no comment to me about anything. Nor has anyone else. I would also like to point out that I am clever enough to cover my tracks, otherwise I would never have made this thread. Next is the fact that I found the code, and I gave the phone to a dear friend of mine, that doesn't have enough money to get any type of phone, let alone a Razr. I never said that I was going to keep the phone. My full intent was to be charitable about the whole thing anyway, but only to those who deserve it. Not to some high class asshole who has backup phones. Yeah, that's right, he refers to it as backup phones. He came to school today with a Motorola Sliver. And lastly, I would like to say that John, you are so screwed. Rats are at the bottom of the chain in my book, but definitely at the top of my black list. You are ******d.

Dude, give it up. You're caught. I took screenshots of your profile (both MySpace and OtakuBoards) so that in case you modify your profile to feign innocence, I've got evidence.

That, and he got the right school. I referenced your page to find your school (which will remain undisclosed), and he got it on the money. We'll be doing follow up calls in the morning to make sure your school's office took him seriously.

Crime doesn't pay.

But not clever enough to discern that this entire topic is a very stupid and pointless exercise.

And, from what Retri said you're not very clever in covering your tracks either.
I never said that I was going to keep the phone. My full intent was to be charitable about the whole thing anyway, but only to those who deserve it.
No it wasn't, lol. The implication was obvious- you were trying to crack the phone and make it yours. You even justified your actions by saying the true owner is someone who has it coming to him.

It's too late to try to convince us that you're being charitable with it.

Oh man, this is too much. Way to much. Imagine you were the vice-principal of a school, mmkay? And you were just sitting in your office talking to your secretary and then the phone rings. You pick it up, and some strange voice you've never heard starts rambling on about how *DaSilva's Real Name* stole a some phone and than starts incoherently shouting about how crime doesn't pay and how he should see the chair... etc etc.

This has to be a joke. The guy found a phone on the ground - on the friggin ground. From what I can tell, the guy who the phone belongs too is a dick who probably threw the phone away deliberatly because he had a new one. It's not 'crime' it's 'I found a ****ing phone on the ground... suh-weet.'

Come on people, leave DaSilva alone... BTW, I don't buy the "I phoned his high-school" **** for a minute, but it would be REALLY, REALLY funny if it actually happened... Mostly because you'd have to be a major dick to actually do it. I'm talking Dean Wormer-class asshole. Seriously, not cool.
