2010DigitalBoy
I was bored and I just got Dead Rising, so here's 10 minutes with zombies. Minute One: Blood pooled under the fallen body of my comrade in green. I can?t easily describe the horror which overcame me in that moment, but it was incomparable to any terror I?d ever known. My chest pumped quickly as my breath became short. Here I was on my ass and standing above me was the pulse less monster. It?s form was human, but it?s flesh was decaying and blood dripped from countless openings in it?s body. Clothes ragged, lumbering towards me, moaning and gnashing it?s teeth was something I could only describe as a zombie. Even with the shotgun clenched tightly in my right hand which held me from the ground I felt powerless before the monster which had just torn the heart from my comrade. With each step it took towards me I inched back until I found my back against one of the brick walls creating the alleyway into which I?d been pursued. Tightly I clenched my eyes, but I could feel it drawing closer. As the sound of it?s gargling throat loomed over me tears burst from my eyes and a shrill scream erupted from my lungs. Minute Two: Three gunshots pounded the stale air. I peeked my eyes open to find the zombie falling to the ground. Blood splattered all over my uniform and face. Ahead of me at the end of the alley stood a fellow soldier, magnum in hand. Behind him I could see random zombies advancing. ?Come on!? He called to me with a swooping hand gesture. Snapping out of my momentary trance, I jumped to my feet and ran towards him. His hand took hold of mind and he began guiding me across the street, avoiding the monsters as best he could, busting open heads every so often. Minute Three: Reaching a regular-looking building, the man rushed me inside and bolted the large steel door behind him. What I had stepped into was a steel-walled battle station furnished by a steel table in the center of the room. Two other people were in the room, a man and a woman dressed in black uniforms. ?I found a survivor,? the man announced. ?Hi? what?s going on here?? I asked. The woman, who was holding tightly to a handgun, stood up. ?We?re Black Ops. We were sent behind your group to assist behind-the-scenes, but things didn?t work out,? she stepped towards me, ?name?s Susan Thayer.? She extended an arm. I took it and shook. ?Karin Fisher. Nice to meet you.? Minute Four: ?So? are we safe in here?? ?Well,? the man who brought me there began, ?We?re hoping to hold out until our transport arrives. According to our last contact it should only be a few more minutes. Your incredibly lucky.? ?What about the rest of my squad?? This time it was the other man in the black uniform who spoke up. ?I?m afraid we?re the only survivors. Once we get taken out of this hell-hole, this city gets taken out.? I slumped into a nearby chair. My head slunk loosely on my shoulders as my eyes began to form tears. A gentle hand met my shoulder, and my eyes met those of Susan who knelt before me. ?It?s going to be okay? we?ll be out of here soon.? Minute Five: Suddenly there was a loud CLUNK. Everyone?s vision turned to the front of the room where a huge dent had emerged in the wall. My eyes widened as several identical dents appeared. ?Secret exit!? Susan yelled, turning toward the back wall. She quickly pulled back on one of the metal panes and it opened, turning out to be a door. Peeking around the door, she was terrified to find a swarm of zombies waiting in the alleyway behind the door. Slamming it shut, she reemerged into the room. ?What do we do now?? I asked fretfully. One of the knocks on the wall formed a hole instead of a dent. Immediately I placed my shotgun in the hole and pulled the trigger, listening as the pieces tore through simplified bodies. Minute Six: As I began loading another shell into my shotgun, the barrel suddenly was pulled through the hole. ?Ah!? I screamed as I held tight to my weapon. Susan rushed over and grabbed onto the gun and began pulling with me. The monster?s arm came through the hole. Susan whipped a knife from her belt and severed the arm, sending me sprawling across the ground with my gun. ?Sorry,? she said. Just then there was a loud noise like a pumpkin being chopped in half followed by an pained grunt. At the back of the room the other black-ops agent had been standing against the secret door. A long sharp piece of metal was poking out of his chest and blood was spraying about the room. Screams blasted from both Susan and I, and she bent over ready to throw up. Mine and the other man?s attention were quickly turned back to the small hole which was now being pulled at by two crowbars. The crowbars tore the wall open wide and grotesque figures began crawling thorough. Remembering my position, I let fly a blast from my shotgun. ?What the hell do we do?!? I cried. ?I don?t know!? The man yelled over his constant gunfire into the horde of zombies. Minute Seven: Susan lay on the ground crying while I frantically tried to load my shotgun. ?I?m running out of ammo! Think of something!? ?Shit!? I yelled. Dropping my weapon, I bent over and lifted Susan to her feet in one swift motion. ?Pull together, damn it! Come on!? Immediately she drew her gun and began blasting away at the crowd. ?Die you fuckers!? She cried. Loud crashes began coming from behind as more objects penetrated the back door. Clicking began to sound from the man?s gun as his ammo was depleted. Minute Eight: It wasn?t long before both Susan and I were out of ammo as well. Once again, Susan recoiled to the ground and began crying. ?No? no no no no no!? I said, dragging her by her arms into the far corner of the room. ?Shit, what now?? The man stood before the hole, waiting for the next zombie to approach. As soon as it did, he delivered a spin-kick to it?s head, causing it to explode. He took a fighting stance and prepared himself to take on more. ?We just got to hold them off for another minute or so! We?ll be out of here soon!? A high kick and a heavy punch eradicated a few more brain-pans. My attention returned to Susan, who now appeared to have fallen asleep. ?Wake up! Come on!? I hollered as I shook her shoulders. ?She?s in shock,? I muttered. ?That?s nice,? he replied, pausing to crack a head against his knee, ?just stay put, I?ll hold em? off here.? Using his bare hands, he reached under the jaw of one of the monsters and tore its head clean off, flinging it across the room. It burst against the back wall. Minute Nine: The man?s onslaught came to an end when his leg suddenly stopped in the hole. ?What the?!? Gripping his leg, the zombies began dragging him through the hole. ?No!? I cried, rushing over and grabbing his arm. I pulled with all my might, but was overpowered and fell backwards. Terror streaked my face as the man?s agonized screams pierced the air. In seconds the monsters had pulled his through the hole and I watched as they tore him in half and began eating away at him. I couldn?t move -- I just stared as the crowd began to amass around the hole. Just them the back door burst open and more zombies began to stumble in from there. I hurried back to where Susan was laying. Helplessly I cried as the beasts made their way inside. Steadily they advanced. Every bit of my body was shaking. My arms pulled my head inward and my eyes closed tightly. Minute Ten: A massive explosion sounded outside the room. The attentions of all the zombies was turned toward the back door where several corpses had just been flung inward. Another blast blew away all the creatures at the far end of the room. A squad of soldiers poured into the room and bullet fire racketed through the room as the monsters before me were shot to shreds. Two soldiers rushed over and hauled Susan and I onto our feet. One threw Susan onto his back and turned to me. ?Are you all that?s left.? My jaw chattered as I tried meekly to answer. ?I guess that?s a yes, let?s get the hell out of here,? he said. Picking me up onto his back, he rushed my out the back door with the rest of his soldiers. A helicopter waited in outside, protected by more soldiers giving cover fire. All of us quickly boarded the chopper and it took off into the sky.
