Guest Soul Dragon7
I was going through one of my GI(Game Informer) magizines when I saw an article on E3. While I was reading, I saw the estimated price for the PS3. Now just to clarify things a little, I love both Xbox and PS2 and would love to own a PS3. But after I saw the Xbox 360 come out at $300-$400, my hopes for owning both sunk. But after a few months I made enough money to buy an Xbox 360(still ended up paying over $500 for it!) So I thought maybe I could buy a PS3 if it were priced like the Xbox 360. But the "estimated" price of $500-$600 sank my hopes. I know that some of you might be thinking "what, can't you make $200 in 3 months?" Well I can, but reading the article I didn't think I'd be getting my money's worth. Everyone I talk to says that they're gonna get a PS3 because it so powerful. Yeah, thats pretty cool, but that doesn't mean the games are gonna be as powerful. Since what really defines a system(which is the reality of things) is the games for it. Example, the Xbox was the most powerful system when it came out, but wasn't nearly as popular as the PS2. In fact, most of the launch titles sucked. If it hadn't(literally) been for one game, the Xbox probably would have joined the Saturn and Jaguar in the hall of Shame. But, as anyone who has even the slightest idea what a videogame is, would have heard of Halo. As Peanut butter is to Jelly, Halo is to Xbox. It great storyline and incredible graphics(speaking in the name of consles), not even mentioning the gameplay or the multiplayer, the game kept them in the game. Sure nothing is without its flaws(I still can't drive the dang Warthog), Halo is what helped Microsoft develop better games and the ever growing Xbox Live. But I don't want to stray too far from the point(if not already.) Sony might have the bragging right to the most powerful system, but it doesn't mean the "best." Also, as a great warrior once said, the element of timing is key to success(or close to that.) If they delayed the launch of the PS3 too long, it may not sell as well. Although I have to say that probably won't happen with so many loyal fans to Sony. Another thing that caught my eye was the fact PS3 controllers wouldn't have the rumble feature. Now I personally think all games are more enjoyable when you can "feel" the action. The last thing I can think of to talk about is the PS3's Blu-ray feature. From what I understand, Blu-ray is supposed to be like HD dvd. I have to be honest, HD dvd?!? I mean, come on! I will not pay $200 extra just for that. The people excited about it are probably rich enough to efford the HDTV for $1000. I didn't buy an Xbox 360 just to watch dvd's on it and I wouldn't pay extra for it to do that. I also read about the PS3 being a computer, but I didn't buy that. I'm posting this because it is in my best opinion that buying this would have someone paying too much for mostly things they won't use. I'm not gonna stop you from buying one, but I will express what I think would be a bad buy early on.
chaos Alvis
Well of course the ps3 would cost alot. Plus the games. The games would range about 60-70 bucks. 4 games would be like $260. Course ps3 has great graphics, but seriously would u want to pay more then $700 on a system and a game.
Charles
Man,looking at that first post, the thread title is perfect. No one is going to read all that and it's probably best to keep this topic regulated to the official Sony Playstation 3 thread since there won't be a diverse enough response to justify this sub-discussion. Thanks.
