ok so i'm a huge metallica fan and i would like to know if ne one else here likes 'em, which is their fav. cd of metallica, and what is their fav. song of metallica.

my fav cd would prolly be the black album
and my fav song would prolly be unforgivin 2 :wigout:

[size=1]I'm not a total fan of Metallica; particularly because of their newer stuff. And they're big babies. However, that doesn't go to say they didn't come out with great music...because they did. I think their last great album was the Black Album--which is my favorite. I love every song on that album. But if I had to choose a favorite Metallica song it would have to be "One" from ....And Justice For All.

And whoever says that Metallica sold out [b]only because they cut their hair[/b] needs to be kicked in the balls. If anything, their ego got the best of them. Still a good band though.[/size]

Nutallica? Oh, I mean Metallica... they lost it with the Black Album, and it only went downhill from there. Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and ...And Justice For All were all great thrash, but then the Black Album hit and everything just sorta went wrong. Oh well.

[color=#8B0000]Agreed. I love every track in those four albums, and I prefer them to everything they made after that. I'm not saying that the other albums are bad, because they do contain some great heavy metal tracks, it's just that Metallica are much more critically acclaimed, in my view, for their earlier thrash metal influence than they are for their newer stuff.

Maybe if Cliff B was still alive things would have been different for them.[/color]

Oh, and S&M is probably the coolest Metallica album, but I wasn't counting it seeing as it's really just a collection of their stuff with symphonic backing. It's not a good representation of Metallica, seeing as they're not a symphonic band to begin with.

HUGE FAN!!!!! I love them! I have all their albums. They area fav of mine hands down no questions asked. My fav song that so hard! So is my fav album cause i love em all! Ok a fav of a fav song would be " Until It Sleeps" And for album ohhh ahhh ummmmm "Master Of Puppets". They're great!

I'm sort of a new Metallica fan, having only bought my cds in the past year. But I've gotta say, I really enjoy "Load" and "Hero of the Day". Also loving "Low Man's Lyric", "The Unforgiven II", "Whiskey In The Jar" and "Frantic".

Now, if only Load wasn't being held captive by my CD player in my car....V_V

I was a big fan at first of Metallica...But then I got to know the underground thrash metal (well it wasn't before, but now it it). For that particular reason, I just stop having a big part of my life...I mean, I am still currently listening to it. Though I only love the first four album of Metallica, I love the fisrt two cds by chioce due to Dave Mustaine was a good Guitarist. [I]Ride the Lightning[/I] was a great song with [I]Trapped Under Ice[/I]. Though [I]Seek and Destroy [/I] was my personal favorite. [B][U]Long Live the Loud[/U]![/B]

I got into Metallica in early high school after seeing the music video "I Disappear" and have had a kind of on and off interest with the group since then. Given I'm a far bigger movie fan than a music lover, Metallica still comprises roughly half of my CD collection. However the older I get, I must admit the less I am into the group, I'll listen to Load occasionally, and I rarely go a day without listening to some of the covers on Garage Inc, but as they're covers I'm not sure if that really counts.[/SIZE]

Their earlier albums are amazing. When they started growing away from thrash-metal is where they misstepped. [i]The Black Album[/i] was a nice juxtaposition of their older, better, thrash-metal style, intermixed with their newer, softer style.

[i]Load[/i] and [i]Reload[/i] were surprisingly decent, but [i]St. Anger[/i] was a try at bringing back the thrash metal style, and it failed for a number of reasons. The lyrics were very lackluster, and they lost some of their elegant, instrumental solo style--the one that was immensely inspired from the improvisation found in jazz, and which was what made their music really have a lot of depth. It all came out sounding very uninspired. The drums on St. Anger, however, sounded good, if I had to say one good thing about the album.

I think [i]. . .And Justice for All[/i] is my favorite. Most of the songs are so instrumentally complex that the band had trouble playing them live, back when they were touring for the album. Only a few songs remain in their current stage set from that album.

Whether you like Metallica or not, they have a place in musical history. Back when they came onto the scene, there were many of the pretty-boy bands owning the rock genre. Metallica basically gave a "f--k you" to them with their brash, epic thrash-metal style. They rightfully carried on some of the tradition started with Black Sabbath, and led the road for such acts as Marilyn Manson, Queens of the Stone Age, and various other bands.

Yes, I agree with the people who said that Metallica lost its heavyness once the Black Album invaded. But it wasn't mostly called [I]Thrash Metal[/I] I was known as [I]Hard Rock[/I]. Only based by them in an interview. Though its true, Cliff was a great Band Member, but people didn't know about him, which is just some shame if you are a Metallica fan. I am a fan but not currently obssessed with it like I was before.[B] Metal will Prevail to the Gates of Hell![/B]

Standard response here: Everything before the Black Album was good stuff. My favorite song is Master of Puppets.

But no matter what Metallica album you're looking at, Slayer was the best of the Big Four.

But, I think my favorite song from that album had to be St. Anger. Only because it expressed how I feel here and there. Like right now. I need to download that song and the whole CD. Not only that but maybe some other songs that you guys have mention.[/CENTER][/COLOR][/FONT]

Anyways,[B] Ride[/B] and [B]Puppets[/B] have to be the best two albums, followed closely by [B]...And Justice[/B] and [B]Kill 'Em All[/B].

In My opinion there is no other album anywhere that comes close to being as original as [B]Puppets[/B]

That Said, My Favourite Metallica Song Doesnt come from [B]Puppets[/B] but [B]Ride The Lightning[/B], [B]Creeping Death[/B] a Thrash Masterpiece, then maybe [B]Seek and destroy[/B], [B]MotorBreath[/B], and [B]Leper Messiah[/B] i like most of the songs, except some [B]Load/Reload[/B] and [B]St.Anger[/B] songs

Metallica's the first heavy metal band I listened to. I really love the band. I wish I can thank them for making me aware of my music taste (ok, back then I was childish. Listening to NSync, Michael Learns To Rock and other cheesy crap that'd existed back then). :animedepr

My favourite album is definitely "Load". Most songs in there are damn rocking and heavy... especially "Ain't My B***h". Such class. Also "Until It Sleeps", my favourite of all Metallica songs. Too bad that their latest album "St.Anger" was such a total disgrace (where the f**k is Kirk's riffs?! :animeangr ). Of course, not to forget, their old yet energetic albums. Master of Puppets for me! :angry3:

Oh well, I hope Metallica will produce another album... haven't heard from 'em since this year's Download Festival in Dublin. :animesigh

Like most of you I'm a huge fan, My fav. cds are the S&M, I just really like the sound of it all. I can never decide what my fav. songs or albums are, but right now I listened to Ride the Lighting the most; so, I guess thats my answer. :animesmil
I like all of their songs essentially; except those from St. Anger, to me St. Anger was the only half way decent song on there and the rest of it can kiss my ***. :p
