[The Virus]

Nobody knows where the Virus came. Maybe it fell from the Outer Space, or maybe it was the result of a bacterial warfare or a scientific experiment gone very wrong.

The fact remained that everybody over twenty years old were gone. There was nobody to run the hospitals, the schools, the governments? There was just a horde of kids, all hungry and desperate to survive.

Quickly the horde began to split up into gangs, all rivaling against each other for food, technology and domination. All who declined to join these groups got stamped under their feet. If you wished to survive, the only option was to form your own Tribe.

[The City]

Whatever the name of the city was in the past, it is now simply called The City. It acts as the battleground of several power-hungry Tribes of juvenile survivors. There are the Motorbulls, who terrorize the streets on their tuned motorcycles, wearing helmets decorated with long horns. Then there are the Brainstormers, who control the office tower at the City Center and use its high technology to their advantage. Furthermore, the pacifistic Children of Gaia rule the fertile outskirts of The City, and Sewer Rats live in the filth of the forsaken sewage system. A large number of smaller Tribes can be found from many schools, malls and apartment buildings, but then there are many of those who live just by themselves or with their friends and siblings.

Most of these children and youth have at least a vague memory of what life was before the Virus struck, but there are new kinds of laws in power at the streets of The City: the laws of the concrete jungle. The laws are dictated by the Motorbulls and the Brainstormers and other larger tribes, but some believe that their rule of chaos isn?t eternal. If enough of those who still believe in justice and equality would gather up and form their own tribe, the madness could be put to an end, and they could start building a new civilization, maybe even better than the one they were born into.

There is one enormous problem standing in the way of peace and harmony, though. The Virus did not vanish with the billions of people it killed. The children grow up to become young adults, and by the end of puberty, they die.

As long as the Virus lives, there is no hope of a better tomorrow.

[The Game]

Welcome to the post-apocalyptic future, where you will have to survive against the rivalling tribes, the Virus, and all the odds. This game is loosely based on the Newzealandish youth series ?The Tribe?, of which you can get more information here. This game will not, however, follow the storyline or have the characters of the original series. You are free to get inspired by whatever you find from the site, though.

This game is going to flow quite traditionally, with no posting orders or chapters, but there is a risk of elimination. Inactive and poor players have a high risk at getting their character killed off without a warning during the game, but if you put effort to your posts you don?t have to worry.

All the players will belong to one tribe, formed at the beginning of the game after a series of chance meetings. The characters all come from different backgrounds, some may have already been in a tribe before, others may have arrived from another city. They do share a common goal, though, and it is to end the tyranny of the ruling tribes and restore order. They might have their own ways of reaching the goal, some more questionable than others, but that is the aim of the game. There is also the Virus to worry about, threatening all those approaching adulthood. Will this one tribe succeed or fail, it is totally up to the players.

Please note that the rating of this game is the highest possible, so you can be as explicit as you want in your posts.

You can find more information about the game, and ask questions about it at the Underground thread.

[The Characters]

Here is the character profile sheet you need to carefully fill.
Name: The City was once an international metropolis, so the character can origin from pretty much any country, which is reflected on the name. Put at least the first name and the last name here (with the exception of a child too young to remember either), but also the possible nickname which can very well be the name the character is known in The City.
Gender: Male or female, simple as that.
Age: From a child old enough of walk and talk to a teenager at the end of puberty, the scale is from 4 to 18 years.
Appearance: A photographic picture of a real person, please, no drawings! As a hint, there are many characters in the original series with great looking outfits, of which you can find pictures from the site.
Personality: What type of person is your character? Don?t be too subtle here, boldly assign features to your character. He or she can be timid, outspoken, foolhardy, conniving, self-righteous ? make it interesting. Not meaning everybody has to be like they?ve escaped the psychiatric ward, though.
Background: Here?s your chance to really make your character stand out. What?s the story of your character so far? Was your character born in The City, or just arrived there? Was he or she part of another tribe before, maybe even a member of one of the ruling tribes? How did your character recover from the shock that the Virus caused, or did he or she ever even recover? Tons of possibilities here, so use them!
As an example, I put my character's profile here.
Name: Silas Jordan, also known as Sage among the Children of Gaia but prefers to go by his own name at The City.
Gender: Male
Age: 17 and a half years, dangerously approaching the age where the immunity to the Virus disappears.
Appearance:

Personality: Silas is the calmness himself. He reacts even to surprising situations in a relaxed, collected manner. His charming looks and soft, pacifying voice are enough to appeal to most kids around him. He loves to be the father figure, the "adult" among children. But to think he lacks emotions is very wrong, he is just extremely good at hiding them. Deep inside there is much fear. Fear of the Virus, fear of losing his charms, fear of everybody turning against him. That's why he aims to collect as many friends as possible.
Background: Silas was born to a religious family living in the countryside far from The City as the youngest son. The faith never grew up on him, though, and he was already planning to move away at the young age of fifteen, when suddenly the Virus struck, killing his whole family.

Seeing that he had no chance of surviving at his home farm, he wandered towards The City, and along with few others, founded the Children of Gaia. Like everybody in the tribe, he changed his name to something close to the nature. He chose Sage, for multiple reasons. His smooth voice and zealous words got many of the children coming from the countryside to join the pacifistic, nature-worshipping tribe. Silas was a great asset, but also a threat at the eyes of the other leaders of the tribe, "elders" as they were called.

As years passed, the other elders saw that Silas was slowly stripping away their power inside the tribe, so they made a collaborative decision to banish him, blaming him for his "unnatural" habits. Filled with anger and vengefulness, but staying calm and collected from the outside, Silas packed his few belongings and left for The City to find a new life - and a new tribe.
Simple as that. Make your character good, and you?re in. There is no limit of how many people can join. The sign-up will not be closed, so anybody can apply at any time for as long as the game lasts. Cool, huh?

So take your chance and join The Tribe!

Name: Xavier Rushton, aka "Rusty"

Gender: Male

Age: 16

Appearance: He looks like this, but he wears a slightly tattered black canvas jacket over his t-shirt. His arms are covered in tribal tattoos, which look like this, except they are deep red in colour, and he has this tattoo in crimson on the left side of his face.

Personality: If Silas is a father figure to young children, then Rusty would almost definitely be described as a "cool uncle" figure. He is not strict on rules when taking care of kids, and prefers to let them have their own way most of the time. As a result of this, he has become quite popular with some of the younger survivors.

But he is equally at home dealing with people his own age. He can be mature and sensible when he needs to be, but he tries to make sure that those times do not come around too often.

He is an intelligent, amusing young man, who manages to have fun with people as well as to care for them.

Background: Xavier Rushton was born to an average farming family who lived a few miles outside The City. He was brought up to understand the beauty of the countryside, and he worked hard in the farm, trying to get enough money to feed his family.

He was unprepared for the Virus when it struck, being only thirteen and a half when it happened, and watched as both his parents and his two older brothers dropped down dead. He was left to care for his younger brother, Alexander, on his own.

But he neglected his duties as a carer, stopped working on the farm, and instead, he simply grieved his family for months, often not moving from a single position for days. His younger brother died of malnutrition soon after, and Xavier realised that his constant grieving was not helping anyone. He tried to understand his father's belief that when someone died, they went to a better place, but found no comfort in this.

So he promised himself he would never let another loved one die, as long as he was still alive. He joined the Children of Gaia, where there were plenty of parentless children for him to look after. He cared for each and every one of them, and as they grew, he became the happy, healthy teenager he had once been before. He eventually took the nickname "Rusty," as several of the younger children had difficulty pronouncing either his forename or his surname, so he took an abbreviation of his surname as his nickname.

During his time in the Children of Gaia, he witnessed with awe the great man known as Sage, although he never drew up the courage to talk to him. However, suddenly Sage had disappeared from the tribe, apparently banished by the Elders. So Rusty left the tribe as well, moving to The City in search of Sage, as well as more children to care for.

Name: Andrea Satis ; goes by Ashin in the City

Gender: female

Age: 16

Appearance: She's 5"5', slim, has red hair with blonde bangs, blue-grey eyes, glasses, and will normally wear jeans, black converse, a black t-shirt, and a tan jacket. She also wears this around her neck.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v42/foxtu78/P134.jpg

Personality: She is very smart and quick-witted, but also quiet. She used to be trusting, but not so much anymore. She prefers not to lead but voices her opinion when necessary. She's easy to get along with and is normally fun to be around. At first she comes off as very mature, but once you get to know her she opens up.

Background: She had a very normal life before the Virus. She had an older brother, a mom, and a dad. She never had to worry about poverty or stuff like that. Her parents both worked and made a decent living. She lived in a nice, two story house near some woods and was fairly happy, with the occasional let down here and there.

She was walking around in the woods when the virus struck and when she arrived home, she found her parents and brother dead, as were all the other adults in the neighborhood. When she talked to some of the kids, they said something about going to the City to find out what was going on. She decided to not get involved with them and packed up her precious items and set out by herself to go to the city.

She made it to the outskirts of the City by noon the next day but stayed hidden in the forest until night. She had a bad feeling about the City and figured she would be better off to wait until night to advance any farther. She went in that night and explored some and got some information. This thing was supposedly a virus that had killed everyone over 20 years old. She learned of the three main tribes and decided it was best not to get mixed up with them. She also found out the kids from her neighborhood were forced into joining the Motorbulls or they were killed. She found and abandoned house and took refuge.
