Liberty Weekend

Two days of festival, fun and joy ? but also of remembrance. The reason why these two days are of two opposing feelings is because of the events that occurred about a century ago.

An unidentified race of beings, dubbed the Cylargres, attacked a city with a force much like a nuclear explosion except on a much larger scale. The damage was catastrophic. Such a massive loss of life in one attack shocked the military into drastic action. And drastic action it was.

A number of high-school teenagers were asked to pilot new prototype weapons called MechAnimas. These weapons were developed in secret by the military?s highest minds. They had minds of their own ? their own personalities and mannerisms, likes and dislikes; that made the scientists treat them as if they were fellow human beings. But even though they were marvels of technology and science, the scientists could not find pilots that these machines would accept. It seemed that the teenagers had a more emotional and intimate connection with the mechs than any older soldier could accomplish. This puzzled the scientists greatly. The synchronisation rate between the mech and teenager appeared to pass any of their expectations. To this day, it is thought that it was because they were teenagers, with their highly-strung emotional states, that made them become the pilots of these weapons.

At the end of the first confrontation with the Cylargres, in which the human race was victorious, these children disappeared from the public eye and became private citizens on the few space colonies that surrounded the moon. The people that lived around them had no idea who they were, just that they were ordinary people living ordinary lives. They had no ideas of the ghosts that haunted these young peoples? footsteps.

However, these ?children? were asked to fight but not in a life-and-death situation like before. A tournament commemorating the attack on Valentine?s Day was held and the MechAnimas were back in operation, except for entertainment purposes only. But this tournament soon turned into something much more sinister, and again, the pilots had to fight for everyone?s safety.

A period of peace followed after these two attacks. The world settled back into order, but the government had learnt harsh lessons and set upon building a protective net around Earth. This became known as ANGEL Wire ? a set of space stations that bobbled half in the Earth?s atmosphere and half in space. Each of the great nations built one of these and large wire-like tubes connected them all. It allowed the defence of the Earth below and the space above, the public dubbing the soldiers ?angels? as they protected them from their high vantage point.

And finally, Syon Desert Base ? now the home to the annual group of cadets that the Air Chief Marshall and his direct subordinates, the Air Marshals, look over to be the next candidates to get into ANGEL Wire.

Liberty Weekend. ANGEL Wire. And the MechAnimas. All have joined on this ironic occasion where the graduation ceremony for this year?s cadets has commenced. This is where their story begins.

Rusti stood in front of her locker for the last time. It would be the last time she would ever have to use the confounded thing. From day one it fought with her. At times, she almost thought it had a vendetta against her, and yet, it was just a box of metal. A very frustrating box of metal, she added mentally.

Gathering her things from its inside, she placed them into a small cardboard box. All that was left was her new uniform. It was a high-collared, long-sleeved white shirt, with red and grey patches on the shoulders and sleeves. There were three red strips on her sleeves, signalling her new rank ? lieutenant. As for the bottom half of the uniform, females had to wear a just-above-knee white skirt. For men, long white pants. It wasn?t a very flattering uniform, like some of the other nations in the World Government, but Rusti thanked God that it was long sleeved. It hid her hideous looking burns very well. They were a scar-white and were scattered across her shoulders and down to just above the elbow in patches. After taking off her old cadet shirt, she arched her back to get the shirt on when a spasm of pain fired through her shoulders, taking her breath away in a wince.

It still hurts?

Rusti looked up to see her imaginary friend, the phoenix, perched on the door of her locker. She took a deep breath and put the shirt on, buttoning it up. The phoenix was looking down at her sorrowfully.

? Look? I can?t talk to you right now?? Rusti whispered under her breath, not looking at the transparent phoenix.
It doesn?t mean I don?t exist if other people can?t see me.
? If they see me talking to myself, I?ll be sent straight to the psychiatric ward. So shut it.?
Rusti? give me a name. How long has it been since I appeared to you?
? Too long? you never shut up?? She was hoping that none of her comrades was hearing this one-sided conversation. It would make her look crazy and that would end any chance of getting into ANGEL Wire.

The phoenix ruffled his feathers in disgust.
That was harsh?
? That?s the point??
I won?t disappear if you don?t give me a name?
? Isn?t not having a name the same as not existing?? Rusti muttered softly, as if talking to herself and not to the phoenix.

At that comment, the phoenix grew silent. He stared down at his seemingly ungrateful companion with complete disgust in his burning orange eyes. Rusti took no more notice of the imaginary creature and slipped on her skirt, zipping it up. She now looked at herself in the mirror.

Impressive, she thought to herself and modelled it to herself. You don?t even know that they?re there.

? All cadets to the ceremony area immediately. The graduation will begin shortly,? a woman said over the base?s announcement system.

Rusti looked up quickly at the speaker and swore.
? I haven?t even finished packing yet!?

=============================

The graduation ceremony had now commenced. One by one, the cadets? names were called and they filed across the stage in their new, neatly pressed and ? for the most part ? matching uniforms. They crossed the stage, shook the Air Chief Marshall?s hand and then walked back down to their seat in a rigid, military fashion. It seemed like the ceremony was running smoothly and effortlessly. Even the audience were keeping themselves awake at this normally dull event.

In the second row at the very front, the ceremony being worked a little differently this year, was a row designated to some special students. Each of the cadets seated in this row had received the highest marks in their respective fields. They all seemed to get along with one another on civil terms, if not a mischievous bunch, whispering between themselves as the names of their fellow comrades were being read out.

The girl next to Rusti elbowed her in the ribs and indicated to the announcer. Emerald leant slightly to her side and whispered into the young woman?s ear.

? You can see under his toupee. The thing looks like he scraped it off the road.?

Rusti snorted softly, leaning forward slightly to disguise her laughing expression. She nodded back but remained silent as their commanding officer leered at them from in front of the stage. Emerald put her hand over her mouth to hide her smile as Rusti elbowed her in the ribs to straighten her up.

? Okay, okay. Sorry??

The hair-piece-topped announcer bowed low, his toupee falling off a little. Emerald, more casually known as Emi, snorted loudly into her hands. Even Rusti cracked a smile.

? See Ophelia, even you have a funny bone,? Emi whispered to her neighbour.
? Yeah. But you take it too far at times. And you should known by now to call me by my first name,? Rusti replied sharply. Every time her comrades or commanding officers called her by her last name, she was reminded of the character Ophelia from Shakespeare?s Hamlet.
? Heh? if you don?t have fun, then you don?t live at all,? Emi retorted.
? You live enough for the both of us.?
? It?s not like you?re doing it for yourself.?

A deep male voice broke into the conversation from Rusti?s other side, making Emi blush and Rusti herself chuckle.
? Both of you need to be quiet otherwise you?ll get us all into trouble.?
Emi leant forward. ? Sorry Ajack.?
Ajack leant back into the chair next to Rusti, Cassidy looking over at Rusti and Emi from the end of the row with a playful scorning look on his handsome face.

Axl, another of Rusti?s comrades, looked beside her at Rusti and Emi who were now taking bets on how long it would take for the announcer?s toupee to fall off. She smiled at them and silently shook her head. This was a tradition as formal occasions such as these, so it wasn?t surprising. But what was surprising was how long it had taken the two to begin the betting.

Besides Axl was Clyne, the only other girl in the entire squad. Unfortunately, it seemed the boys in their squad outnumbered them 2 to 1. So when it came to social events, there was a lot of arguing about whose date was whose. But it always managed to work itself out by each of the girls taking two of the boys.

Then there was Trysten, Fheng Lei, Vermillion and Artek, Rusti?s friends in the flight division. They weren?t bad guys to be around, and Rusti found them to be very good comrades and friends in the air. So much so that she felt she could trust them with her life, something that didn?t come to her easily.

And lastly was Switch and Chase. These three were Emi?s comrades in the ground division. Another trio of good guys. Emi had always said that these three were the best guys to be around in training. Rusti, having never actually gone into mock combat with them before, wanted to know if that was true.

Their commanding officer came over to Cassidy and told him that they would be announced shortly. The whole row stood and filed out to the side of the stage where this special group of cadets were called out one by one. They walked onto the stage and stood at attention, facing towards the audience. The Air Chief Marshall looked at them with a small smile on his face as he approached the podium. He cleared his throat once before starting to speak.

? Ladies and gentlemen. Today, before you, you can see twelve young men and women. These twelve have proven themselves to be the best in their respective fields over the past few years, exceeding their comrades. I would like to extend an invitation to all twelve to become part of ANGEL Wire. Will you accept??

OOC: Welcome everyone to the third instalment of Project: True Destiny. Sorry about writing a novel but it felt necessary at the time. ^^; Anyhow, for your first post, as always, an introduction of your character. Also, your character is to accept the invitation from the Air Chief Marshall. Then the Air Chief Marshall is to say a little about your character, mainly about what your character specialises in. This relates directly to your chosen beast. I?ll use my character as an example. Rusti tops the class in manoeuvrability and medium-class firepower in flight. Say, if you chose the cheetah, it would be swiftness and manoeuvrability. If you don?t understand, please PM me ASAP. Enjoy!

"Our first graduating cadet, an exemplary student who graduates with honors, Lieutenant Artek Blackfeather!"

Artek stood and nodded, his trademark smile, the right side of his mouth tugging just a bit higher than the left, affixed upon his features. He stepped forward to stand beside the Air Chief Marshall, who handed him a folder containing his orders. As he accepted the folder, a familiar weight seemed to settle on his shoulders. He didn't need to look to know it was Jarek. His smile became more natural as the eagle only he could see flapped its wings.

"So, you've become a lieutenant, eh, boy? Quite the achievement. Are you certain you're prepared, Raven? You do remember what happened in the crash..."

Artek merely nodded, shaking his shoulder somewhat to good-naturedly shut his companion up as the Air Chief Marshall launched into a speech about Artek's achievements.

"Cadet Blackfeather has shown considerable talent in the field of aerial combat, particularly in using small-class weaponry. Practically unbeatable in a dog-fight, Blackfeather shows a remarkable talent for medium-range combat and his skill is exemplary in an aircraft of medium-class maneuverability. Also, every free moment Cadet Blackfeather has ever had with us, he has spent in the simulators, racking up more training flight-hours than any other cadet here. With this in mind, Cadet Blackfeather has received a commission on the ANGEL Wire to suit his unique style. Congratulations, Lieutenant Blackfeather!"

Artek bowed low to the applause of those in the room, his smile faltering somewhat as the noise reminded him of the incident, but nodded to the Air Marshall and whispered softly.

"Thank you, sir."

With that, he saluted the Air Marshall, who saluted him back. Artek lowered his hand and snapped to attention, turning around and walking back to his place in the line as the next name was called. He smiled gently as he shook his shoulder, affectionately rocking Jarek. The eagle chuckled.

"Still insist on calling me your spirit guardian, eh? You Native Americans are all the same, setting your sights on the skies and calling the familiars that answer the call gods... still, congratulations, young Raven. We'll have you gracing the skies soon enough."

With that, Artek couldn't help but smile. All of the cadets around him saw it, and recognized it for what it was. The first true smile Artek had ever given...

Standing there upon the stage in front of hundreds of other fellow officers unnerved Ajack. Not being able to see the faces of his friends was hard enough...but not being able to see the face of a stranger was frightening. Hiding his faded green eyes behind his black sunglasses clearly distinguished him from the others from what he could only imagine to be the most ridiculous looking uniforms.

"Tell me Rusti..." Ajack made sure to keep the volume of his voice and the movement of his lips to a minimum as Air Chief Marshal began his elaborate speech. "should I ask you what our new uniforms look like, or can I accurately describe them as 'hidious' by the smell I'm getting from us wearing them."

"Sssshhhh..." Rusti couldn't hold back the grin that now spread across her face as they all continued to look forward. Emi on the other hand had already made a hoggish sound from trying to hold in her outburst. No one in the crowd seemed to hear her as the deep voice of the Air Chief continued on.

Ajack couldn't help but chuckle to himself...knowing full well what he was doing, he knew he'd get some kind of response from Emi. Out of the entire group, Trysten, Emi and Rusti were the closet to him; he took their pitty of his condition well...especially Trystens understanding due to his loss of one eye. He was friends with all of them, the only cadet's in the entire academy that seemed to accept him.

In simulations or environments where Ajack knew the layouts exactly could he have freedom of movement and show he full potential. But when put in a new situation, he was a cripple once again...as prideful of a man Ajack was at times, he had to admit that he needed help at times.

But not being able to see their faces always plagued him. He could smell them...each with their own scent, some having ones he liked and those not; as well as their speech and movement styles as the air shifted.

And here he stood before hundreds of strangers...studying and judging him like the prejudice officers that they were. It wasn't fair for them to have such an advantage over him.

Despite his thoughts, Ajack continued to pay attention to Air Chief Marshall's speech and suddenly heard his named called to step forward. Taking a deep breath and absorbing his surroundings, Ajack confidently stepped forward towards the crowd.

He knew already what the Air Chief Marshall was going to say...he had met with him the day before, reporting to him due to the test results that were processed the day before.

''I am proud to introduce to you Lieutenant Ajack Masters. As you can see, he is not your ordinary soldier..." Like I thought...here it comes... Ajack was right, the Air Chief was sharing the information from their conversation...instead of listening to the speech, Ajack's mind drifted to yesturday.

***

"I'm pleased to say Cadet that your test results on the new high speed combat simulation are the highest in your entire class." The Air Chief could be heard suffling through some papers as Ajack say quietly in his chair.

"Forgive me, that is an understatement; your results were off the charts. It's fasinating, despite your handicap, you have an amazing ability to react to battle situations with amazing reflexes combined with precise accuracy."

Superior Reflexes could be heard in the back of Ajacks mind, coming back momentarily to reality.

"What's encouraging as well is the strain on your mind and body during the simulation in the lab stayed within healthy ranges."

Amazing Battle Endurance

"The use of your implanted synaptic relays has increased the production of these simulations by at least 200%, almost making your handicap to be a benefit. How you'll respond in the field is very unpredictable. But rest assured your results will help future Cadet's training and biological parameters for speed simulations. If you'd only let us give you robot eyes, we'd..."

***

"No." Ajack didn't notice that he said his answer outload underneath his breath..thankfully no one heard him yet again.

It hadn't had been the first time that the Air Chief has asked him for permission to replace his faded green eyes for robotic replicas. As humble of a man Ajack had become over the years, his pride has its limits. He thought of his mother...he had been told that his mother had the most beautiful emerald green eyes. Knowing that his blind eyes had become a faded green, he could picture in his mind what he'd look like. He could never betray what his mother gave him.

He had been born blind, but through his synaptic relays which consisted of two small incisions on either side of his temples, they were able to essentially download images into his mind which gradually evolves into long video simulations. There was no technology yet that would enable him to see the real moving world through his eyes, but he hoped. Only the images that he had been shown comforted him, giving him some approximation of the world. His senses training with slight air disturbances, smell and sound has greatly benefitted his relexive abilities...but it still wasn't enough.

Being so wrapped in his thoughts, Ajack completely missed the Air Chief Marshall's offer...

"Ajack...I ask again..." Ajack was motionless showing no response to him missing the Air Chief's statement..." I offer to you to join ANGEL Wire, do you accept?"

Ajack hadn't expected this. From their conversation just the other day, Ajack didn't expect to go far in the military. Without any hesitation nor doubt in his mind...

"I accept" and with that, there was a load applause as Ajack turned and cautiously walked back to his spot. Rusti instinctively reached out for his arm and helped him stand correctly...she knew that the noise must have been affecting his field of vision.

"Thank you" he said with a smile, and stood upright. Many thoughts began to flood his mind, but one above them all came into focus. It wasn't the new possibilities of this grand offer, nor the embarrasment of not hearing the Air Chief Marshal, but his dream...and the desire to run...to run fast...to run free...

Emerald rolled her eyes as the line continued and jumped slightly as she was nudged forward. She licked her lips lightly ready to answer her question with respect and control and then smiled inwardly, not her thing.
"Emerald Rosete Blade, we extende an invitation for you to join Angel Wire and become a fighter. For excellent grades and marks in cunning and stealth we hope that you will accept. Do you accept?"
Emerald crowed loudly making the Master Cheif blink and the crowd jump.
"Oh hells yeah! Smoke and fire baby!"
She took her diploma nd bounce happily off the stage winking at Rusti as she took her seat.
"You are so rude."
"Nope. You to boxed Rusti bud."
She chuckled as Rusti rolled her eyes and cahnced a look at Ajack he was smileing slightly at her antics. She looked up at the sky remembering a talk she had with the nurse during one of her timely visits.
~**~**~

Emi swung her legs back and forth humming as the nurse inspected the lump on her head.
"Dear, Child what did you do this time?"
"I was talking to Rusti and I ran into an open locker."
"Again?"
"It's only the second time Maybelle, don't make such a big deal out of it."
"Child, that band you hag out with needs you so you better stay in shape and stay as long as you can."
"Needs me? How so?"
"You keep them on their toes, not only that you lighten the day around them, your happy and look at the brighter things in life. It's how you've always been since you came here. You make them laugh, even during training you seem to make them relax. If not for you child they'd be so old they'd have heart attacks."
Emi stuck her tounge out childishly.
"You think?"
"I know. Your good to go Child, just watch out for the lockers."
She took off at a run and smiled the rest of the way to class.

**
She smiled at Rusti and watched as the others went across after her, all making sure not to jostle the Master cheif to much after his shock from her.

Axl watched as Artek walked across the stage and her thoughts wandered, she was broken out of her dream like state by Rusti and Emi. Smiling Axl shook her head at Rusti and Emi; they had begun to take bets on how long it would take for the announcer?s toupee to fall of, typical she thought. Turning towards Clyne, Axl nudged her friend lightly with her elbow.

?Would you like me to place a bet for you?? Axl whispered; facing forwards trying to make it look like that the two weren?t talking.

?Not this time Ax.? Axl smiled and watched as her friends were called out one by one, Clyne and Axl usually made it a point to sit next to one another, they were good friends. Axl was mostly good friends with everyone but always seemed to be a little too serious some times. Emerald however always seemed to get a laugh out of her.

?I now introduce to you our fifth cadet to graduate this day, Lieutenant Axl Logan?

?Here we go?? Axl whispered sarcastically to Clyne. She hated ceremonies and fanfare, she especially hated attention, she was reserved and need a good hard push to show emotions sometimes.

?Cadet Logan has excelled in the not often chosen field of long range-heavy fire and support. She has shown remarkable skill in ambushing techniques, causing major review of some battle tactics. Her sniping skills are unlike anything we have seen at the academy before. She has surprised us all time and again with her unorthodox and completely new underground battle strategies, and will be receiving a special first time award for her contributions. Congratulations Lieutenant Logan.? The audience and her friends applauded. ?It is now with great pleasure that I extended an invitation for you to join ANGEL wire. Will you accept? ?

?I will.? Bowing, Axl accepted her papers and walked off stage, her cheeks red from embarrassment. Rusti poked her in the ribs intent on finding out why she seemed flustered.

?Why the red face?? Rusti?s poking just served to make her blush even more, Axl stepped back so she was out of reach.

?I don?t like large crowds? you know that.? Rusti nodded.

?Yeah, we should have figured, you like to hide underground.? Emi blurted out, Axl just ignored the comment. The one thing she had mountains of was patience, Axl had to have patience in her chosen field, and one couldn?t rush sniping or long range heavy fire for that matter. One especially couldn?t rush an ambush; you had to sit there, without making a sound, maybe for days on end, waiting for just the right moment. Living underground wouldn?t be all that bad she thought. Axl was prone to day dreaming, it was in actual fact how most of her ideas came to her.

?Congrats.? Axl knew that voice, she could pick that voice out from a crowd of thousands of people. The Sandy-brown arachnid jumped down from the stage and scampered over to Axl. The arachnid wasn?t typically a sandy- brown colour, he was usually pitch black. His voice was the most unique voice she had ever heard, dark, raspy cold and yet incredibly intelligent and caring, when Axl was concerned, at the same time. The scorpion was in actually fact many, many times large than a normal one at the present time, she had discovered he could change his size at will.

?I told you not to talk to me in public Rashid.? Axl whispered under her breath so that no one around her could hear, the talking of the announcer and the clapping of the crowd as her friends were called up masked her speaking somewhat.

?I am sorry Axl but I felt I needed to break our agreement in order to express my admiration. I must admit I am proud of you.?

?Thank you Ra.? A small smile crossed her lips.

?You are quite welcome.?

All though the ceremony Rashid had been tormenting the announcer, pulling his toupee off and doing things with it that would be considered very inappropriate, he had a very dark sense of humour. Axl had been ignoring him for the most part; of course, she was the only one that could see his antics. As another one of the pilots exited the stage Rashid disappeared. He did that sometimes, without warning, he?d just leave.

She watched as Axl went across the stage, she smirked to see that her eyes were usually pinned on the announcer's head, watching to see if the toupee was going to fall while she was up there. She congratulated her good friend as she returned, snickering as she said that she was disappointed the toupee didn't fall.

Clyne calmly waited for her turn, scowling slightly as she looked down at her uniform. She hated skirts with a passion and wished she had the choice of wearing pants. She heard her name being announced and stood, smiling at Axl before walking slowly toward the stage, looking at all the people whose eyes followed her figure.

"Our next graduate is Lieutenant Clyne Geiger. She's the top of her class in the fields of manoeuvrability, high classed fire power, speed, and physical strength in flight combat. Congratulations on your grades and now we are pleased to be able to extend to you an invitation for you to join ANGEL Wire. Do you accept?"

Clyne smiled and nodded, "Yes, I'd be more than happy to accept your invitation." she spoke formally, accepting the diploma and file of papers.

The announcer nodded at her, he nodded too far over and his toupee finally slid off, slapping onto the stage. His eyes widened and he grabbed at his head quickly. The crowd started laughing, and Clyne glanced out, looking at her friends with a grin on her face as she scurried across, picking up the hair piece and plopping it back a top of the bald head where it belonged. She smiled at him and turned back to the Air Chief, saluting him crisply, the two breaking at the same time.

There was a burst of applause from the audience, which died down as quickly as it had appeared, spurts of laughter still existing. The Air Chief Marshall nodded to her with a pleasant smile as she made her way off stage, heading back toward her seat.

She felt a lingering presence beside her before she heard a soft growl beside her, turning to see her transparent partner, a very miniature version of him, looking like a small navy blue lizard with wings and stunning emerald eyes.

"Congratulations." It called somewhat reluctantly, flapping and resting on top of her head.

She smiled and whispered, "Couldn't have done it without you, friend."

"You still haven't given me a proper name, you just call me friend or partner." the dragon creature grumbled.

"I have too. Your name is Aibou, which means Partner in Japanese, which is what you are to me."

"Hmph. I guess I can live with that." he glared half playfully before flapping his wings and disappearing.

Clyne chuckled a little as she sat, staring at the piece of paper and folder in her hands, and the red stripes on her sleeve. It was surreal and unbelievable, she couldn't believe it was happening to her and her friends.

Axl hit her lightly with a grin and she looked up to see the whole group looking at her with smiles.

"Too bad you didn't put in a bet, eh?"

"No regrets." she laughed lightly, shrugging.

"Didn't expect it to actually happen though." Emi snorted.

The crowd finally hushed as the next name was announced loudly.

"Hey Morgan, hurry it up."

"I'll be out in a sec," Switch called back, standing in front of his locker. He finished pulling on his gloves, which matched his new uniform quite well. He ran a hand through his brown hair as he let out a sigh, closing his locker door for the last time. His mind was clouded and stressed, even though he was graduating today. He had been visited again by the black panther in his dreams, and even though he had gotten used to it by now, it had been particularly persistent last night. It asked for a name, and when he told it that he didn't name imaginary things, he woke up with faint claw marks on his right shoulder.

"I must be losing my mind," he joked quietly, grabbing his things and leaving the locker room, though he scratched at his right shoulder as he walked out the door.

---

Switch grinned, something he rarely does, when the announcer's toupee finally fell off. The others had been betting, but he had chosen to stay out of it. When Clyne came off the stage, he heard his name called next and walked into the spotlight.

"Next, we have Lieutenant Switch Morgan. He has excelled at stealth and night combat, using his mastery of high class fire power and close combat techniques to decimate the opposition, whether he uses the light-weight models or the heavy-weight behemoths designed for ground combat. He has also shown himself to be quite versatile, taking advantage of any and all terrain a ground unit could find himself fighting on. Being one of the top cadets, we are confident you will be able to perform even better in actual battle than in our simulators. Do you accept the invitation to join ANGEL Wire, Lieutenant Morgan?"

"Yes sir, I do," he nodded firmly, saluting the man. He received a salute in return and the two shook hands briefly before he left the stage, walking back to his seat beside Chase.

"He seems to think highly of you," Chase snorted. Switch rolled his eyes before giving Chase a swift, but playful, punch in the arm to shut him up as he sat down. "Jeez, take it easy? I gotta go up there, too. Don?t want my new uniform to be wrinkled, do ya?" Chase stuck out his tongue as he teased his friend, and Switch couldn't help but flash a quick smile. His friend grinned and nudged him with his elbow.

"Chill, kid," Switch whispered, a small smile still on his face. He had entered the military later than the rest of his classmates, as he was at least two years older than most of them, and even those his age had been there longer than him. Despite being new, he was always treated as being older, and he liked to tease his friends with it. Chase gave him a look, daring Switch to call him a 'kid' again. "What do you want" Trysten said slowly buttoning up his new uniform. Today, he was no longer just a military cadet, he was becoming what military cadets strived to be. Though it felt just like any other day to him, other than he was talking to a creature hanging in the corner of his room.

"Just a name, and company from time to time"

Fixing his collar to cover the bite mark on his neck he glanced up at the bat before returning to the mirror, running a hand through the silver side of his hair.

"Why do you want me to name you, you might get attached to me, and it's already weird enough talking to you." Trysten said pulling on the last item of his uniform, white gloves.

"We already are attached, but if it helps you it's just a name" The bat replied fluttering to another corner in the room.

"Dante, after Dante of the Divine Comedy, though maybe I should call you Virgil, cause you are determined to take me to hell and back" Trysten said walking towards the door "Dante, stay here like a good pet ok" He added as he left.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Trysten stood watching Switch accept the invitation to ANGEL Wire, giving him a casual nod as he walked back down. They were in different areas as far as ground and air, but they had done a few night simulations together. "He's good, but then again so is everyone here" Trysten thought shifting his weight from his right foot to his left.

"Following Lieutenant Morgan we have another pilot gifted with amazing skills. Lieutenant Trysten Charon" The Air Chief Marshal proudly stated as Trysten walked out towards the podium, earning a slight gasp from the crowd, quickly silenced by a frown from the chief, though a smirk was already on Trystens face.

"This young man has bested his class in Air Manueverability, Night Raids, and Stealth, Specializing in Light Class firepower. I've seen this young man pull aeronautical moves I've never seen, it almost seems if he is attacking from all directions at once. As well as being nigh untouchable in the sky, and near invisible at night, I am proud to present this well earned invitation to ANGEL Wire, do you accept"

"Yes" Trysen replied simply shaking the Chief's hand, before withdrawing it giving him and the crowd a salute.

Walking back down to his dismay he saw the shining eyes of an unwelcomed guest. "Damn why do pets never listen" He thought to himself as he walked back to his seat, patting Ajack on the shoulder as he walked by. Shaking his head he smiled as he passed Emi who beamed back with a large grin, he gave Rusti a nod and smile which she returned, then a smile and wink for Clyne, which earned a grin back. Last before taking his seat he gave a nod to Artek.

Though most people expected him to be mean and cold because of the way he looked, it was infact the opposite, he just new when to be serious, when not to beat around the bush, and only goofed off with those close to him. It was funny that people gasped at him, sometimes even pointed, and he liked it.

OOC: Redemption, I thought I was in the air division with the falcon...? :animeknow

"Our next graduating cadet who shows extreme potential, Fheng Lei"

Fheng Lei smirked and walked across the stage slowly. He was alittle nervous because he always had stage fright but pushed himself anyway. He was thinking if he should say anything or just nodd and say yes like a mindless idiot. Even with all these rampant emotions he still felt proud deep inside. He was thinking of how his father feel and thinking if he's ready for it. He took a deep breat as he stepped over silently and stopped in the middle of the stage.

"Ahh Fheng Lei, You are an amazing cadet showing extreme ability and potential in what you do. You always works with this is mind : The Element of Surprise and Efficiency. You focus on Speed, Stealth, and efficiancy which are some of the more important points when it comes to flying. Using the latest technology he is able to destroy an enemy in a group with out any of their team members noticing. Utilizing new technology you can destroy someone with out even knowing who it came from. He tries to fly swiftly in the wind not leaving a sound while always managing to get the target. Also has the sense to not rush into things and think it out strategically. Your one in a million Fheng, and we would be glad to have you aboard." The air cheif said proudly.

Fheng Lei looked him in the eye as if they were communicating with now words. The cheif had a look that said congradulations to him. Fheng Lei was alittle nervous but also felt very proud. He started to think about how his father would feel and what this means for his future. He he started to think back and look at how far he's come. But then he saw the cheif about to continue so he started to focus again.

Will you except the invitation to join Angel Wire?" The air cheif marshall said with a deep voice trying to leave more of an impression.

Fheng Lei with out a doubt said" I accept!"

He was quick to except the invitation but couldn't help but think about all the other cadets that were invited too. It seems that the cheif has faith in all of them but Fheng Lei really wants to proove himself. He wants the cheif to be able to depend on him with anything at anytime.

"Great, we'll be glad to use your many abilities" The air cheif stated.

Fheng Lei shook hands with him feeling accomplished. He walked off the stage with a smirk on his face thinking of all the possibilities. But suddenly a voice in his head said you've come far.

Chase leaned against his locker as he stared at the newest transfer, a cute little number with mid-length blonde hair and soft brown eyes. She was a looker and right now all her attention on him, as was his on her.

"Big night for you tonight? I mean your so lucky to be graduating this year, I have to wait another two years."

Smiling at her, "You'll be fine and I should still be stationed here."

She jumped up a little bit from excitement, "Oh that would be so perfect!"

Chase was about to reply back when another warning annocement came over the intercome system.

"All cadets to the ceremony area immediately. The graduation will begin in 15 minutes."

You'd better hurry.

His eyes darting around, Chase found the source of the voice. A long slender cobra ,transparent to the rest of the world and silent, slithered up towards Chase. The black beady eyes looked over at the girl and hissed. This caused Chase to laugh and the cobra now angrier, as if she had read his thought bulleted towards him, ready to attack. He pulled his leg up only to get a strange look from his latest fling.

"Chase are you okay?"

"Huh?" He looked up at her worried face and flashed her a grin, "Aw, don't worry baby I'm fine. I just hurt my leg a bit in the last feild test and I can't put to much presure on it, that's all." A pure lie.

"Oh, okay. Well I better leave you to getting packed. 12 minutes till the graduation starts afterall. See you after the ceramony!" She ran off leaving Chase alone beside his locker still unopened.

I was not jealous.

Slamming his fist into his locker the door opened and Chase began tossing his junk into a box that sat below him.

"Then why'd you hiss at her? Seems like a pretty jealous action to me."

Please, jealousy is so trival. I'm past that and do you even know that young woman's name?

"Ya, Paris something. Anyway bug off I've gotta change into this crap of a uniform."

You are a very rude man.

"No, just impatient."

+ + + +

Smoothing his desert colored hair down, Chase sighed, it was going to take forever for his name to be called. All he could do was pull his stupid white glove on and off. And even that small act was getting stares from the annoucer as he had already been late and recieved a yelling at for that.

"Our next cadet, who has been a frequent trouble maker surprised us all with the fact that he even made it to this level. Lieutenant Chase Revelin."

One glove off Chase looked up at the meatino of his name and relized that it was his turn to be spotlighted. As he stood he pulled his glove on and strolled up to the Air Chief Marshall standing next to him.

"Through many strict disciplinary actions, he's shown notonly great manoeuvrability, speed but, as well as our fastest stricker. Being one of the top cadets, we are confident you will be able to perform even better in actual battle than in our simulators, many of which you have placed in the shop. Still I will ask the question, do you accept the invitation to join ANGEL Wire, Lieutenant Revelin?"

A dark look from the announcer as to warn Chase to not try anything smart. Brushing off his houlder, Chase held out his hand, "Hell ya'."

The Air Chief Marshall laughed a bit and shook his hand, pushing Chase away after a firm handshake.

"Back to your seat Lieutenant Revelin, lets spotlight another fine graduate."

Saluting the Marshall with two fingers, Chase strolled straight off the stage, making sure to first 'acciendently' bump into the announcer knocking his false hair off his head. He snorted as he ducked a blow and rushed to his seat, next to Switch. He held out his hand for a low five and after feeling the slap from his friend, Chase went back to crossing his legs acting innocent like a angel.

Down the row however, he heard the girl's that had made beats argueing over Chase's actions calling it interference while another said it counted. He laughed to himself, enjoying this moment of bliss for as soon as the cermaony was over he was going to get another scolding from his upper officers, but right now that didn't matter.

Feeling pressure on his boot, Chase looked down to see the cobra and though it couldn't smile he knew she was on the inside.

"Sharne." He whisper down to the cobra. She instantly knew that he had named her without her even asking that of him. Maybe he wasn't as rude as she thought.

Cassidy stood patiently in line next to the other cadets. He knew all their names and their abilities as if they were his own, studying them with silent glances. He wasn't especially attached to any of them, but he did not see them as threats either.

Cassidy shifted slightly, trying to ignore the slight twinge of pain in his right forearm. He watched as Emerald pranced off the stage. He watched patiently as the others received their assignments for ANGEL wire. Though he wasn?t rightly sure why he would be chosen for the ANGEL wire team, but he wouldn?t object either.

Staring out across the crowded area, the drone of the Air Chief Marshal humming in the background, Cassidy fight back the surge of emotion that filtered through his large body. His mother, with her new husband, sat six rows back in a floral dress. Their three young offspring of 3, 8, and 9 sat fidgeting next to their mother. Occasionaly their father reaching across his mother?s chest, coapping a generous feel before disciplining his children with a bitter hand. His mother squirmed with desire at her husband?s touch and ran her hand firmly up his leg. His real father was no where in sight.

Cassidy?s blazing blue eyes shifted uncomfortably around the room, trying to forget his mother?s presence. In the far back corner, dressed in a provactive white lace dress was the fair blonde girl he was with the night before. She leaned against the wall with one shoulder, her purse hanging from the other. Her slick slender legs sliding endlessly up into her dress. Her flashy green eyes barely visible from this distant were intent on him, a flirty smile shining back at him.

He felt a pulse of lust run through his loins and pelvis, creating a sudden flush in his lower body and creating a small barely noticeable buldge in his white slacks. The faint lustful memory of the smell of her skin, her smooth legs wrapped around him, and his long shaft sliding in and out of her warm body left him breathless when his name was announced.

He stepped forward, hands still pressed firmly behind his back allowing the white uniform to press firmly against his chest.

"Lieutenant Cassidy Steven maybe a quiet young man, but this boy is an outstanding tatics planner and an amazing leader. His ability to manoever over strange terrans without previously been on them is by far the most impressive skill I have seen improve in less than a month. Lieutenant Steven, will you accept this new mission?" The Marshal announced.

"Yes, I would, sir." Cassidy stepped forward, shook the marshal's hand, accepted the assignment, and headed back to his seat.

He was a few steps from being in front of his seat when he noticed Rusti glace up at him away from her usual crowd of friends. His breath caught in his throat and a rush of sensations filled his chest. He dragged his attention from her just as quickly as she did and took his seat.

Vermillion sat uncomfortably in his room, staring at the wall. Graduation... Shouldn't he be happy? What was the matter? Wasn't this what he always wanted? THere was just something amiss...

Not that it maters now. His beast's voice emerged from the back of his mind, almost filling the room. Soon it was visible, at least in it's inner eye. He grinned at it and layed backwards, wrinkling his suit, and his now blonde hair falling over his eye. He had finally adhered by the rules, but of course, he had refusen to give up his hat. HIs beast walked over to the side of the bed and sat beside him.

What's the matter Vermillion? Your thoughts have been troubling lately... What's the source of this intensive misery? Vermillion growled and threw his pillow through the air to the wall, intending for, foolishly, it to hit the imaginary Gryphon. It laughed amusedly.

Did you honestly expect that to work? Vermillion shook his head no. He was so out of it. He felt incomplete, felt like there was a large piece of himself missing that hadn't been there in the first place, but was only making itself apparent. He opened his mouth to repeat his thoughts, but stopped himself, laughing.

"You heard all of that anyways, didn't you Barrel?" Barell laughed again, 'nuzzling' against Vermillion. Vermillion smiled at the creature and stood up, finishing the packing he had been doing. The beast walked towards the door and stood there.

Finish your packing later. You'll be late if you don't head along. Vermillion grinned and tossed the rest of the stuff onto the bed, acreating a massive pile that he would take care of later. Just as he finished doing that, an announcement went over the intercom.

? All cadets to the ceremony area immediately. The graduation will begin shortly.? He stuck his tongue out at Barrel mockishly.

"So you were right. Bite me." And with that, Barrel retreated to the back of Vermillion's mind, and Vermillion swiftly exited his room, slamming the door behind him as he headed for graduation.

*****

Vermillion smiled and clapped as all his fellow cadets went up and accepted their admitance into the ANGEL wire. Air Chief Marshall happily greeted most of the cadets, but his face turned slightly sour as the next name on the roster graced his eyes. Vermillion laughed in his head when he saw the man's eyes float over to him. The Air Chief Marshall quickly regained his composure and spoke once again to the crowd.

"Another troublemaker amongst our ranks, as I suppose the ANGEL wire attracts many of them," laughter from the crowd, and a quick glance between Vermillion, Chase, and Cassidy graced his joke, "I'd like Vermillion Edge to come up." A round of applause, and Vermillion was walking towards the stage. As his feet carried him, his mind, moreso Barrel, took in the Air Chief Marshall's words.

"An amazing air pilot, with top notch strength comparable to most ground units and amazing dexterity and endurance, regardless of situation. Though not adherent to general instructions, his own tactics more often than not contribute to an amazing display and clear victory. With the best of both the air and the Earth," with that Vermillion walked directly up to the Air Chief Marshall, smiling at him, "we extend an invitation to the ANGEL wire. Do you accept?" Vermillion nodded, and then surprised everyone.

He bowed slightly to the Air Chief Marshall, taking off his hat as he did so. Though at first thought to be a mocking act, that thought was soon put behind them by the seriousness in his face. As he straightened out, the Air Chief Marshall extended his hand. Barrel's voice echoed in his mind.

You ready for this, kiddo?

"Do you accept?" Vermillion took his hand and shook it vigorously.

"I accept. Thank you." WIth that he walked back to his seat, smiling on the inside.

"If one really had free will, then that would make behavior unpredictable...however as you all are very well aware of, such a thing is of ancient history. Cognitive learning and development results in the outcomes of ones choices...through past experience, we create motives and desires which mold around greatest benefit, and minimal sacrifice."

It was a wonderful saturday afternoon in his senior year of high school. The sun could be felt beating down hard on Ajacks skin as he peaceful sat back his chair as he usually did, analyzing and taking in the lecture of the day from his psychology professor. His eyesight was looking out the window...even though he couldn't see anything. The only sensation on his eyes were of the sun intense heat outside, shining through the window. As important as his daily simulations were, Ajacks supervisor felt very strongly that the mind and its functioning was just as important as training the mind...

"Know the mind of your opponent...that has been our theme for this semester. Tell me Mr. Masters..." figured...pick on the blind man old timer... "explain to me how what I just said a moment ago about behavior can be used to your advantage on the battlefield."

Without taking his eyes away from the window, "there is no free will; we are bound to the experiences of past events which thus influence our future decisions. Through this principle we can derive the desires and intentions of the enemy, which gives us a future insight into their given actions. In turn we ourselves are bond by the same fate, and must manipulate it."

"How would you do that?" continued the professor who seemed somewhat pleased with the last segment of Ajack's answer.

"We may not have free will...or in other words, freely chosen motives...for example, if we are injuried, we will instinctively hinder that part of our body and overcompensate to obtain homeostasis. Adding onto that, if we've experienced trauma and defeat in the past, we will tend to avoid similar situations. However, with such instincts, we still have choice of whether or not to act...which is called Free Act."

The professor stood in front of the room with what Ajack could imagine to be a grin on his face. Ajack conituned...

"Understand this principle brings our position on the battlefield back to unpredictability. For example again, I'm blind sir, which in your mind sets you at peace because more than likely I will not show any aggressive action towards you because of my vulnerability...but what if..." Ajack turned his gaze from the window towards the approximate position of the teacher.

"What if I have already decided to take this mechanical pencil in my desk and jump from my seat and drive the pencil into your throat...as unrealistic as it may seem, you would be caught completely off guard."

The classroom was completely silent for a long moment as the teacher looked at Ajack eyes wide open...Ajack could sense the fear from the teacher...him pondering what could possibly be going on behind those black sunglasses of his; which wasn't his intent...but at least he got his point across.

"This priniciple as you've been teaching Professor Malcolm, is an attempt to broaden our minds to not just one possible future, but to many so that we may be prepared for anything."

Ajack turned his attention away back towards the window and drifted to thoughts of his mother, and what he might have looked with her eyes (picture here of Ajack, without glasses of course )

***

The auditorium still held its claustrophobic feeling as Cassidy was applauded as he returned to his seat. Suddenly he caught it again, that breif, momentary moment of hesitation and loss in Cassidy's bodymovement as he returned to his seat while Vermillion was having his name called.

No doubt it was from Rusti's turn of gaze in his direction that he sensed...sigh......a good sigh at best. Cassidy was rumored to be the most handsome and desired man of all the former Cadets. Ajack could savely assume that it wasn't often that a woman took the mans breath away...in a way Ajack was pleased. It hadn't been the first time that this had happened.

As Vermillion could be heard making his way towards the Air Chief...Ajack's mind drifted to the lesson learned that day.

why did the Air Chief Marshall need to ask such a question in public, why not in privacy and confidentiality..........because he knew that in such a situation we would all be forced to accept...because that was why they were all there...for advancement in their careers...

With such a motive, Ajack pondered over what the Air Chief Marshall intended for all of them. They were an oddly bunch...full of personalities...troublemakers, leaders, planners; all at the top of their classes in one form or another.

he has something planned for us...and he needed our cooperation...

Vermillions acceptance could be heard as the crowd applauded in approval...what have we gotten ourselves into...

Ajack clapped with enthusiasm and smiled for Vermillion as well as the others; this was a big and wonderful step in their lives.

whatever the Air Chief Marshalls intentions are...I know we'll get through it together with strength and love...

But right there in that moment...Ajack vowed he would be not so predictable again. The clapping died down as everyone awaited further instructions.

Emi jumped up as the time came to throw up their hats and join in and then take the next step. She corwed with enthusiasim as she threw her hat, the others just took theirs off and shook their heads at her antics.
"Time to party!"
The Sir Mashel looked at her frowning.
"The new members of the ANGEL Wire are to go to their rooms collect their belongings and meet in the hanger for further instructions."
Emerald ducked her head.
"Damnit. Well then, party in the hanger!"
"From there you will be transported to on of the Wire bases and be welcomed there offically as a part of the ANGEL Wire network."
Emi let her face drop into a comical frown.
"What the hell? YOu mean we just went through like 5 years of this crap just to go up there and not even have a SMALL party? This is whacked."
She stood with the others and filed out of the area to her small dorm. Opening the door she peeked inside, there on the bed was the small black Fox that she knew would be waiting for her.
How did it go?
"Ugh, it was a gradustion, I scared the air marshell."
The animals head shook side to side in amusment. Emi just smiled and winked streching her arms.
What is the next move?
"Pack and head to the hanger, from there we go to one of the Wire bases and get offically welcomed into the network."
There is a small prick of annoyance in the back of your mind, what is bothering you?
"Nothing, except that we don't get a party."
The Fox watched as her movments got stiff and somewhat angry.
The Air Marshell mentioned Ajack's blindness?
"Yeah, reallt bugs me that everyone thinks they shoudl treat him all gentle cause of that fact. He knows his way around this base better then most of us that can see. That's what really bugs me. I mean I reat him like he's a normal guy."
Cause you are fond of him.
She stuck her tounge out and smiled as she shoved her portable CD player in her pocket and slung the headphones around her neck, music could be heard blareing out from them.
"Let's go Desh."
He nodded and jumped off the now bare bed. She took one last look at the room she had occupied so long this past time in her life.
"New chapter now."
She closed the door leaving her key in the door knob as instructed and began to bounce down the hall in her usual juanty step when she caught sight of Ajack. She smiled wide and shifted her small duffle bag to her other shoulder and put alittle extra speed into her step.
"Hey Ajack! Done already?!"
She a;ways made sure to let him know that she was there before she pulled her greeting stunt that she did with everyone in her class. She saw him brace himself and smiled jumping onto his back hugging his neck lightly and then hopped off. She walked beside him smiled though she knew he couldn't see, but then again she knew that he knew she was smileing, she always has one on. She looked up at him and noticed his troubled expression.
"What's on your mind Ajack? You look worried."
"Nothing, I've just been thinking that's all."
"Sheesh, the way you look it looks like you've been looking at coffins. Lighten up. You worry to much and you bite the dust early. You know they say the leading cause of death amoung all soldiers is heart attack and strike right?"
"You mean Stroke."
"See that's what I'm talking about. If you knew what I mean what't the point in tellimg me?"
"So you don't sound like an idiot."
She stuck her tounge out at him and looked forwards spotting Rusti. She smiled and snuck up on her tapping her shoulder and then ducking to the other side.
"Hello Emi."
She pouted slightly and smiled waveing largely.
'Oheyo!"
Rusti rolled her eyes and smiled at her.
"Excited are we?"
"Oh hell ya! I can't ait to reek some havoc on the sommanding officers up there! It'll be great!"
"As long as you don't kill them."
"Trysten, your just jealous that you can't have as much fun as me."
"No, I'm just worried that you get us all thrown off the shuttle before we even get there."
She saw Ajack smile behind Trysten and gapped.
"Well damn! Everyone thinks I'm nothing but a trouble maker!"
"You Are."
The answer had come from all of them at once making her gap.
"Well shit. I'm cornered."
She smiled up at Rusti and then at the others.
"I'll make sure to leave you all out of it."
She heard the loud curse come form the head cheifs office and grabbed Ajack's hand pulling him down the hall along with the others.
"You don't want to be there when he comes out."
She let go as the entered the hanger, everyone else there already.
"Well! If we're all here let's go!"
Rusti grabbed her arm and leaned into her.
"What did you do?"
"You'll see, just get onto the shuttle."
Rusti shrugged and boarded, Emi was behind her and took a seat next to Ajack as Rusti sat behind her next to Trysten. As the doors shut the side of the shuttle erupted into laughter as the Head MAster Cheif ran into the hanger, his unnaturally bright Pink hair, dripping wet and hanging into his eyes. Everyone looked at Emi making her blush and smile brightly.
"What? He needed something to remember me by."
Ajack leaned into her her.
"What did you do?"
"I made his hair Pink."
He leaned back into his own chair smileing at her antics that had become so natrualt to them all that if she didn't so something spontanious everyday they would all be worried. She reclined back as the shuttle took off from the hanger and headed into the darkening sky.
"Hey Rusti, How long till we get there?"
"A few hours I think."
She turned back around heaving a sigh, this was gonna be a long flight.

?Last, but certainly not least, Lieutenant Rusti Ophelia.?

Rusti winced slightly as she heard her last name pronounced by the Air Chief. Her thoughts immediately jumped to the character. However, she stepped forward, taking the diploma and file in her hands gratefully.

? Miss Ophelia has displayed her ability in battle tactics to be of the highest quality. She has also equalled the top places in manoeuvrability and medium-class attack power in aerial combat.?

The Air Chief turned to Rusti. ? Lieutenant Ophelia, will you accept my invitation to join ANGEL Wire??

Rusti stood to attention and saluted the highest officer in the ANGEL Wire organisation. ? Yes sir!?

The crowd gave their warm applause, most of them glad that the ceremony was finally over. As Rusti walked down to her seat, she heard the announcer finalise the ceremony, thanking all the guests who came out of their own time. As if a signal to the end of the ceremony, a 12-gun salute cracked through the air as the graduates stood and cheered. The crowd applauded the graduates and soon the time came to disperse to family and friends.

Rusti stood too, looking around at the family?s greeting each other and congratulating their relatives on graduating. She looked to her group and noticed that none of them had moved into the greeting area. Instead, they all moved back to the barracks to collect their time, before they took off to one of the ANGEL Wire space stations.

Either?. we?re all alone? or we have family we don?t wish to come into contact with? no wonder we bonded so well together? Rusti thought to herself, following the group back.

================================

The ride to the space station was rocky at best. The shuttle shook and shuddered like it was going to fall apart. It had been centuries since the first shuttles went into space. You?d think they would have gotten it right by now. The trip lasted a few hours and finally, the newest recruits to ANGEL Wire disembarked the shuttle. A smiling woman greeted them as they all moved off the transport.

? Welcome to Delta-0, one of ANGEL Wire?s network of space stations,? she said, almost robotically. Rusti raised an eyebrow, wondering if this woman was human or machine.

? If you?ll all follow me, I?ll show you to your dormitories.?

All of them looked around as they followed the mildly attractive woman. The space station was amazing. Everything looked like it was state-of-the-art. There were terminals everywhere for communication with the bridge and repairs. Rusti was surprised by how clean it was. She always imagined that the space stations were grimy and grubby, just like the barracks on Earth.

As they continued to walk, they passed people that stopped and saluted them. From what Rusti could see, all of them were juniors to her group ? all second lieutenants. It must be hard seeing new people walking around that outrank them.

The group then came to a sudden stop. Rusti, not realising that no one was moving, bumped into the back of Vermillion with an ?oof?. She stumbled backwards only for her arm to be grabbed by Ajack, steadying her.

? Thanks,? she said as she straightened herself up. ? Sorry Vermillion.?

The robot-like woman turned to them, smiling. ? Women are on the left, men on the right. Inside there is a common room connecting the two genders. Each gender has their own bathroom and bedroom. On the table, there should be a list of the events happening tonight. I trust that you are all looking forward to the introduction party.?

? Sure am!? Emi piped up, saying what everyone was thinking, almost everyone.

The woman smiled. ? Very well then. See you all at the party.? And with that, she departed.

The group entered the room through the separate doors, all immediately coming into a corridor. For the men, their rooms were on the right, for the women, their room were to the left of them. However, since there were twice as many men as there were women, the men soon discovered that their rooms were a little squashed together.

Rusti dumped her back into her room, the third one up from the front door, and made her way to the bathroom. She was unamused when she discovered it was a communal bathroom, meaning only two showers, a large bath and a large sink area.

She then moved to the common room, looking behind to see a sign on the door saying ?Girls rule and boys drool? at us.?. Rusti couldn?t help but laugh at it. Over time, everyone had managed to make their way into the common room. There was a clip-board on the table, waiting for someone to read it out. Rusti looked around. Everyone seemed to be avoiding that job, so she sighed and picked it up, calling for everyone?s attention.

? Oi oi? come on you guys, settle. Now, the clipboard says?? She looked at the first page and scowled a little. It was almost as if they had gone back to high-school with the rules that were set out. ? Rules. Number one, no male is allowed in the females? rooms unless invited, and vice versa. Number two, a roster is to be made up that assigns jobs to do around each gender?s common areas. Number three, in an emergency, rule one is allowed to be disregarded.?

The group mumbled to each other in disagreement about the rules. Rusti called for quiet again.

? Second thing on the clipboard? our first team meeting is at 0800 sharp tomorrow morning. We are to arrive in uniform and have on our persons our files. In the meeting, we?ll receive our first assignments, our access cards for around Delta-0 and our specifically engineered SOUL modules.?

? And lastly, tonight, starting at 1900, a party is going to be held in the secondary hanger. This is an introductory party for us as new recruits to ANGEL Wire. Apparently, it is so we can meet some of our senior officers as well as our peers. And?? Rusti pulled up the page to check if there was anything underneath. ? ? that?s it guys.?

Everyone stood, acknowledging the all power messages on the clipboard before dispersing throughout their new dormitories. Rusti looked up at the clock behind her. It read 1730. Seemed like the party was going to be held sooner rather than later.

================================

OOC: Ok everyone. This party is to firmly establish your character's personality in the RPG. I've seen people in the past not get others' characters right so this party is to try and solve that problem by giving you guys a different situation to react to. Your character doesn't have to go to the party if you don't think it would be something they would do.

Later I will be putting up a list of how ANGEL Wire is ranked in the Underground, so watch out for that.

Also, anyone is able to go into the party scene. Just make sure you describe it well in your post. Go have fun! Get drunk! Get laid! Act like young adults! Heh. All those good things. :p

"You're not really going dressed like that, are you?"

Artek didn't reply. He lifted his hand to his dead eye, brushing his spiked bangs out of the way as he stared at his reflection. He was wearing a lincoln-green silk shirt with wooden togs and a pair of blue jeans. The only indications of his native heritage were the stark white bangs and the moccasins on his feet. He opened the shirt, lifted it up, and stroked the numerous burns and scars that still remained, even fourteen years after the incident. A sad look overcame his face as he whispered, to nobody in particular.

"Father, mother....."

He sighed softly as he lowered the undershirt and redid the ties of his silks. He turned around and spiked his bangs, forcing the roguish smile that had become his trademark to come to the fore.

"Boy, you really must stop faking that smile. You deserve a little comfort in your life, Artek, shed a few tears."

"You know I can't, Jarek... I come last. The world comes before me, the team before that, and Rus... and someone before that."

Jarek tilted his head to the even as Artek shook his head slowly. So, the boy had fallen in love... well, it was about damn time. Jarek smiled and suddenly vanished, his body becoming motes of light that entered Artek's body. Artek sighed at Jarek's last words.

"Well, boy, go get that 'someone'. Even if we both already know she's named Rusti."

Artek sighed and keyed open the door to his quarters. Almost immediately upon entering the commons, he literally bumped into Rusti. He barely had time to cover his wince of pain as he instinctively reached out to steady her. The action wasn unnecessary, even though his smile became a little less forced. He didn't notice.

"Oh, hey, Rusti. How are you?"

He winced inwardly as the mask he wore snapped out of place. Maybe it had something to do with Rusti being so close...

Emi was siked and she showed it bounceing between the common room and her dorm. She poped out once covered by towels and smileing widely trying to deterimne who was going and who wasn't the second time she poped out she was dressed but not ready and lastly she was ready, the whole event taking only 30 minutes to take place. She jumped from her dorm and into the hall smileing widely.
"I'm gonna reek some havoc. Party time!"
She just barely make out the music begin in the secnd hanger and crowed louder then anyone remembered hearing, she smiled knowing that everyone had heard it and took off at a dead run down the hall, she jumped and hit the door sideways making it fly open.
"The fun has arrived!"
She let her expression fall nad her eyes get wide as the door swung back at her and hit her with force sending her back onto her butt.
"Damnit!"
She kicked forward and sprung back to her feet and walked out like a normal person; she ran her hands through her loose hair and smiled as it billowed out behind her in a thick mass of shiny black, her clothes were what most would call clubing clothes, her jeans were black and had only one leg to them, the other was cut off shortly up her thiegh, her shirt was tight and a bright blue, a white fishnet long sleeve over top the thin straped tank top, balck boots were thick soled giving her some added height and shin height. She was pleased with her apperance over all and wished Ajack could see her but she smiled knowing that he would in his own little way. Before she headed out she took a moment to spray her body down with a light mist of scent, something that everyone had deistiguished as 'her' scent for no other girl on the training base had used it. She took one last look at herself in the common room mirror and smiled, she left with swish of hair a a click of the door.

"Holy hell, this place is BIG!"
Her comment was lost over the music as she stepped into the second hanger, young man and women were already on the dance floor and having a good time. She was to busy gawking at the decorations, it must have taken them days to get it all up. The ceiling was high, very high and they had streamers and banners all over it, balloons and a disco ball.
"Classy."
She looked over at the tables set up for them to eat and rest at, white table cloths and red dishware, the silverware was just that silver. She walked over to the food tables and let her mouth water as she took in the delisious scent and sight of the various foods that were there. She caught sight of a food that she knew she would most likely make her self sick off of this night.
"No way...Sushi!"
She grabbed a plate and began taking 5 of each piece she could find. She nodded her thanks as she took the pickled ginger and wasabi from the bar and added some to her plate as well. She sat down and began to munch happily at her raw seafood when she felt someone behind her. She looked up and smiled as a young man looked down at her.
"Your new?!"
She nodded, her mouth so full of the rice and fish that if she opened it she was sure it would fall out.
"My name's Dariean! I'm one of the head corrdinators here! I work on radar!"
She swallowed the massive bite and took a drink of her water, she hated soda, and wiped her hands reaching up and taking his, she took a deep breath and yelled over the music.
"The name's Emerald, you can call me Emi! I'm new but I'm going into ground unit!"
He nodded and looked up as a young women was indicateing to him on the dance floor.
"I gotta go, my girlfriend wants me to go dance!"
"Nice to meet you!"
He nodded and left her to eat the rest of her Sushi keeping an eye on things noticeing that some of the people looked as if they were looseing their balance, which meant alchohol, she was a kidder, but a drinker she was not, her step fathers saw to that. Shakeing her head discarding the memories she heard a song start up and the disco ball dropped from the cieling. The DJ called over the corwd.
"We have a contest tonight to see who is the biggest freak out there! Lets see who out dances everyone else! Now I command you all to dance!"
She smiled and stood streching her arms and legs, she was good at danceing and took pride in that fact. She remembered one of the dances at the training base where she had been danceing with Rusti, Ajack, and Axl, she had gotten alot of bad names for that and some even said that she went both ways, truth was; she just loved to dance and wasn't very picky when she was danceing. She made her way to the middle of the crowd and began to sway her hips in time with the music letting it wash all of her doubts and her fears tot he back of her mind, she felt light and let her smile take it's place on her face feeling her body get more into the music, soon she was making a path through the corwd danceing with anyone who wanted to, the spotlight landed on her and she blinked.
"You there, you little freak with the long hair! Get up here! You've been all over the place!"
She bounced her way up to the stage and grabbed the prize waving it like a banner and drapped it acorss her shouders, the words, #1 Freak written in silver on the dark blue materile. She walked back to her table and sat down taking a sip of her water she watched the crowd move together wishing that her friends would hurry up so she could have more fun.

Cassidy shoved the last two pair of socks into his duffle bag, his white hat under the crook of his arm. He was just about to stand up again when he felt slender fingers slid into his shirt and under the thin muscle shirt that lay underneath. Lust flowed into him and he spun around to see the blonde girl he was with the night before. She had a playful smile on her face, learning forward to greet him with a passionate kiss. He gracefully fell backwards and allowed the woman to have her way with him, working his hands under her dress, but never removing it.

Once their quicky was over, he pulled his pants back up, tucked his shirts back in and grabbed his things. The woman said something that barely entered his head as he left the barracks and headed towards the hanger. He was the first one into the shuttle and the first to exit once they arrived. Making their passage through the decks, Cassidy paid little attention towards the multiple girls that gave him that "lets play together" tonight. He wasn't interested in them, no matter how tempting they may be. He was watching Rusti after he had allowed her to pass him.

They entered their quarters, he took a room and quickly changed into a pair of loose jeans and an eye catching buttoned shirt. He was once again the first to make it to the common room, taking at sit on one of the couches that had been stationed around a coffee table of sorts. He watched his other team mates enter and then tried to keep his focus off of Rusti the best he could as she read off the rules. When the others began to disperse Cassidy stood confidently and approached Rusti.

"Ms. Ophelia, I would ask if we could share a few drinks at tonight's gathering, would you be interested in the slightest?" Cassidy's voice was smooth, and sure. A man that had spent a great many nights with a woman, charming them into whatever he wanted from them, but there was a slight hint of innocents in his voice that had not been there since that faithful night that left him near dead.

Cassidy's eyes darted only briefly from Rusti's when he noticed the glowing yellow-green eyes of the white wolf, its hungry mouth opened to expose its blood red teeth. He kept himself steady and brought his eyes back to Rusti once more.

The warm water of the shower streaming down the back of his neck as Ajack held his head under the shower head felt incredible...not because of him not enjoying the shuttlecraft trip.......he enjoyed it too much.

The thrill felt like it would kill him....so much speed, it felt like his heart was going to burst from the excitement and thrill. Maybe these combat simulations are getting to me... His skin was like fire...or maybe his veins...he couldn't tell...it was a like a newfound drug addiction; making its way deeper into his being.

Finally cooling himself down in satisfaction, Ajack slowly made his way out of his bathroom, hands gliding against the walls...trying to make his way to the bed. It took him nearly 2 hours to get all of his things situated in his room...he even had to resort to his walking stick for the first time in years.

Ajack knew for sure that he was late for the party...it was to his surprise that no one from the team had come to get him yet, especially Emi. With a deep sigh Ajack finally found his cloths on the bedsheet...damn it I don't even know what I picked for colors. The materials felt right...the shirt was silk and pants were rugged. (when you see Ajack at the party you'll see him in a pink shirt with black pants)

***

"Excuse me, can you please tell me where the secondary hanger is?" this was always the worst part about new places...he had to learn the layout first before he could walk without hinderance. A female officer stood in front of him, glancing at his walking stick...almost dumbfounded at the thought of this young man being a new recruit to ANGEL wire.

"I'll escort you there if you'd like." as weird as this acquaintance was, this was a very attractive looking guy despite his black sunglasses. Holding in a chuckle of laughter at his choice of clothing, she gently guided him down the hallway towards the hanger.

Upon entering the hanger, he knew that he was late. Despite the mixing a many voices he quickly pointed out those of his friends. There was suddenly laughter in back of him from a couple of female officers...there voices were soft, but he could hear them easily enough.

"Do you see that guy..."
"Yea...obviously desprite for attention..."
"Pink...what was he thinking..."

Uh...you got to be kidding... Ajack knew exactly what they were talking about...

Turning away from the direction of his walk towards his friends, Ajack quickly made to what he could only defer to being the bar because of the smell of alcohol.

"Shot of jagermeister please...make it a double." without question the bartender came back with the drink and placed it before Ajack. Without hesitation Ajack took the drink in one gulp and set it back down on the table.

Turning around in his chair he smelled the sudden rush of auroma that Ajack knew too well as Emi's scent. It was the smell that she only used for big parties like this. He was only a few feet away from her...coincident enough she didn't recognize him. ..probably too busy dancing with the multitude of guys that she usually danced with.

Shaking his head in amusement...he suddely felt sad. Deep down he knew she had something for him, as unbelievable was it was to him because of how openly she was with everyone else...like he imagined her now dancing with every guy that walked up to her. Turning away in his seat, the DJ could be heard yelling for who he described to be a woman to come up to the stage to get a reward...again, her scent shifted.

...congradulations Emi...I'm sorry I can't live that kind of life...don't really have a choice too...God knows I'd be out there with you all night if I could...

Motioning to the bartender for another drink, a band burst into sound on stage to a familiar song that Ajack knew. Determined not to feel down anymore than he already was, Ajack pushed himself out of his seat and headed towards the stage.

Bumping and slamming into people as he passed by them...yes I am blind, you can move please...he finally made his way to the stage and introduced himself to the DJ.

"Would you happen to have an extra guitar?" Ajack's question was direct and full of confidence.

"Yes but..." quickly the DJ moved his attention elsewhere and his tone of voice changed immidiately. "Would you happen to play the drums as well? This guy has been sucking all night, and I really need this band to stay up there so I can get a break..."

As soon as the song was overwith, the DJ helped Ajack up onto the stage and motioned him towards the drums where the musician was quickly replaced. It took only a moment for Ajack to feel the drums surrounding and memorize their placement.

"Are you sure you can play?" questioned the female singer who approached him from the side. Her singing partner who was a guy came from behind as well; his breath was hard upon Ajack's neck, but he wasnt intimidated

"Trust me...just lead the way" he couldn't tell what her facial expression was, but without question she turned back towards her place along with her partner.

Yo, pretty ladies around the world
Gotta a weird thing to show you
So tell all the boys and girls
Tell your brother, your sister and your momma too
Were about to go down
And you know just what to do
Wave your hands in the air like you don?t care
Glide by the people as they start to look and stare
Do your dance, Do your dance
Do your dance quick, mom

It was a nice metal-grinding song. Ajack played in perfect sync. with the singers as he banged his head as he slammed the sticks against the drums. He quickly began to sweat and feel heat upon his chest and forehead...but he loved it...he loved to feel alive like this.

C?mon baby tell me what?s the word
Now, word up
(ahh ahh)
Everybody say
When you hear the call you got to get it under way
Word up
(ahh ahh)
It?s the call, word
No matter where you say it
You know that you?ll be heard

Now all you sucker DJs
Who think you?re fly
There?s got to be a reason
And we know the reason why
You try to put on those airs
And act real cool
But you got to realize
That you?re acting like fools
If there?s music, we can use it
Be free to dance
We don?t have the time for psychological romance
No romance, no romance
No romance for me, mom

...Be free to dance...be free to run...

The song ended with a roaring applause as Ajack ended it with a terrific show of skill and speed on the drums. Before the next song started up, the two singers came up to him once again...

"Do you know how to play heavy metal and rap?"

Ajack simply nodded...and they continued to rock the house before the DJ came back to relieve them. Ajack's pain still held strong on his heart...but the rush of the moment and faith in the hope of a better life than of a blind man gave me peace...if only for a moment.

A drop of water fell from his eyelid towards his chin...whether it was a tear or just the sweat...he didn't know.

Chase smirked at the first rule, this was going to be great and with a party on their first night their, what a kicking place. Though it did have its downfalls, for one he felt trapped. Being in space was not Chase's cup of tea, he didn't have anywhere to run to and the chances of snagging a SOUL module and taking it on a joy ride. Where would he take it anyway? It was to far to go back to Earth with it and space was an unfamiliar field for him.

Shaking his head, Chase picked up his duffle bag and following Switch to the boy's dorms. They had individual rooms in this place, a big difference from their old accomindations, it wasn't always fun sharing a room with two other guys, but now they had a fresh start. New women to pray on and officers to pester. Chase figured he might look into hanging out a little more with Emi this time around. THey could become a team, more than just a Ground sector team.

Dropping onto his single bed, Chase threw his duffle bag to the floor only to find himself digging through it to make sure his music was unharmed. No damage, good. After assuringn that his one other pleasure, other than the female body that is, was safe he threw some partying threads onto his bed. He had almopst forgetten about the slam fest.

Changing rather quickly into a camoflauge shirt that showed off his well toned arms, with the sleaves torn off, and some tan shorts with standard worn brown combat boots. He hung a chain from his studded belt and after he had fixed his hair into that oh so perfect mess he pulled out his most important survial item. His stero.

Knocking the lamp from the bedstand onto the floor, causing it to break, Chase placed his stero on the now empty stand and plugged it in. He didn't turn it on just yet, he saved that thrill for latter and instead stuck his head outside his room shouting down the hall to Switch.

"I'm heading out Switch, meet me at the party and we can scope for some chick-a-dees."

Slamming his door shut, Chase headed down the hall through the common's room and towards the secondary hanger. Following the pulsating music Chase soon found his way. He smiled as he pushed open the doors and to feel the rush of the booming music run through him. This was his place. The place was already hopping and passing by the food, Chase stood against the wall for a while waiting for Emi to get through her rounds before approching the human firecracker.

After seeing her display he was a little more hesitany, but pushed onward anyway. Stepping towards her, he tapped her on the shoulder speaking his most alluring voice.

"Slamming party, though its a bit more than that with you disturbing the peace."

Emi smiled and threw a thumbs up at Chase.
"Say what you will but I gotta go tell Ajack how awsome he was at that whole band thing! I never knew he could play!"
She took off at a sprint through the room, most likely the only one that could do that for her energy level. She leaped out of the way of a young man and the girl he was danceing with, rather dangerously, she thought as she hopped up behind Ajack.
"You never told me you could play!"
She giggled as he jumped slightly and hugged hsi neck.
"Chill, it's just me! So what are you doing here when you can be out there dancieng?!"
She saw his face drop slightly and got a bright idea, smileing brightly she grabbed his hand not listening to his rejections to this bright idea of her's and spun around planting his hands on her hips. Leaning into him she spoke in his ear so he could hear her.
"Just feel which way I go and follow my lead."
He nodded in understanding and she began to move, slowly at first letting him get used to the movement and then faster, she turned and put her back to his chest and wrapped an arm around his neck bringing him down so his face was next to her's and smiled.
"See not so hard! I knew you could do it, you just have to try!"
She closed her eyes and let herself get lost in the feeling of Ajack's arms around her waist, his breath on her neck. She took a deep breath realizeing that it had gotten considerably hotter in the hanger and leaned forward to peel off the fish net shirt over her tank top and threw it on the table nearest to them and leaned back against him agian, she gasped slightly as she felt his skin on her's and tried to keep her heart beat under control. Closeing her eyes yet again she lost herself in the music and dance not careing about the talk that seemed to be flying around about Ajack and how he didn't seem to deserve her. She smiled and leanded back further letting him know slilently that she didn't care.

Rusti sighed as she finished reading the rules. Everyone began to disperse. She was thinking about leaving the room herself when she noticed Cassidy approach her from her far left. Her eyebrow arched as she wondered why one of the two Cassanovas of the group was approaching her.

? Ms Ophelia...? Cassidy started. Rusti grit her teeth at the name, however, she turned to him and looked at him a little blankly. He continued. ? I would ask if we could share a few drinks at tonight's gathering, would you be interested in the slightest??

His voice? if she could describe in terms of food, it would be melted dark chocolate. A strange feeling took over her as Cassidy asked her this question. It was like she was in a haze. She looked up at him, her expression still a little clueless. Words tumbled around in her mind as she tried to think of how to word her answer.

? I ? would like that Cassidy.?

To her embarrassment, Cassidy bent down and kissed the top of her hand. Rusti?s eyes widened as Cassidy walked away, going into the boys? dormitory.

What just happened there? I?m not even sure myself. Did I just accept Cassidy as a date to the party?

Seems that way.

From behind her, the imaginary phoenix flew through the wall and landed on one of the chair?s backs. Her eyes narrowed.

Pity? I thought I left you behind.
No such luck it seems. You?re stuck with me.

Turning towards the females? door, Rusti moved to leave the general common room when the door to the male dormitory flung open and Artek came flying out, colliding into her. His hand grabbed her arm instinctively, making sure she wasn?t about to fall over, although, the impact dazed her a little.

? Oh? Hey, Rusti. How are you??

She looked over at Artek. He must be the youngest member of their squadron. It was really quite a feat for someone of such a young age to already be in ANGEL Wire. It was quite possible he could be the youngest ever recruit.

? Er? I?m ok? thanks?? Rusti replied, feeling the throb of a headache come on. She put a hand to her head, closing her eyes in pain.

? Something wrong?? Artek asked, looking a little concerned.

? Headache from the flight.?
? Will you be ok??
? Yeah. Just need a shower.?

Artek looked silenced at that thought. Rusti took the silence as Artek not wanting to continue the conversation.

? Well? ok? see you at the party then. If you come, of course.?

When Artek didn?t say anything bad, she sighed and walked into the females? dormitory without another word. She felt bad about having to leave him there but it didn?t seem that she would get any response out of him even if she tried to talk to him.

The sounds of the other three women getting ready in the bathroom told Rusti that she would have to wait until they were ready to get into the showers. Since she joined the military, Rusti had managed to keep her scars a secret. Having her own bathroom helped, but now they had to share; it would be much more difficult.

Walking into her room, Rusti flopped down onto her bed. She looked up at the ceiling, wondering what was going to happen at this party. It seemed like things were off to a flying start.

========================================

Rusti walked into the party room, her ears assaulted by the loud booming bass. She had come dressed in a short, lacy, off-white dress [refer to the appearance picture in sign-up]. Her shoulders were exposed, but for once, she thanked the miracle of makeup. After applying what she thought was a mountain, Rusti could finally go out in public without people looking at her with disgusted faces. However, she still felt conscious about them.

Looking around the crowd, Rusti spotted Ajack and Emi dancing together. At first she laughed at Ajack?s choice of clothes. It must be hard to be blind and to choose clothing. Then she realised how hard it must actually be and felt a little ashamed of herself.

Sighing, Rusti headed to the bar where she sat down in a comfy material chair, making sure to keep an eye on Emi and Ajack.

Clyne checked her outfit for the night; she wore a pair of slightly baggy navy blue pants and a tight, leather, sleeveless shirt with a deep V-neck plunge with some leather straps wrapped around her biceps, thighs and calves. She consulted her full length mirror and made an undecisive face before smiling with a nod, her attire looked simple, but that was her style and she wasn't gonna change it for anyone...besides her commanding officers when asking her to wear uniform (which included skirt). Clyne wasn't much of a person for make-up, but settled with putting on some lipgloss and a touch of mascara. The last thing she did was to do her hair; parting it down the center before pulling the trailing length into a low ponytail with bangs still hanging in front of her face. At last she was satisfied with her appearance and left her room which was closest to the door leading out of the girls' dorms.

Clyne looked around as she walked through the hallways, this space station was their new home, and looked pretty flash, she wouldn't mind living here. As she got closer to the room she could hear the heavy bass thrumming through the metal corridors. With a smile she entered and was drenched in the loud music and heavy bass that she could feel in her core. Taking a look around she quickly found a lot of her companions that she had come with from Syon Military Base; Ajack and Emi were dancing on the floor, Rusti was at the bar, Chase was at a food table, and Artek was flirting with a girl. She didn't notice when her head started bobbing with the music, as she watched light bounce off the disco ball to shower the floor in an array of colours.

Examining the room she could see it would have taken a team a number of hours to get the hangar set up for this welcoming party, and she felt honoured, not only because she'd been invited to join ANGEL Wire, but that this party was partly for her, and her friends. She hummed lightly as she walked over to the bar, passing Chase with a quick greeting. Clyne leaned across and ordered a Smirnoff, taking a sip and resting against the wood as she continued to search around the room, mainly looking to see if Axl had arrived yet.

"What's happening here?" she heard a familiar voice ask.

Turning her head slighty she spotted the transparent dragon sitting on the bar space to her right. She rolled her eyes, giving him the obvious answer that she was at a party, covering her words with a sip even though the music easily drowned it out.

"Pah, wasting time." he muttered indignantly, disappearing again.

Clyne shrugged and pushed off from the bar, walking toward the food area since she was feeling a little peckish. After a bit of thought she decided to take some sushi; teriyaki chicken and avocado was her favourite. She saw some pizza swirls and bit into one, taking another one for later. Her hands were full, so she leaned against the wall beside her, beginning her meal of delectables. She made sounds of satisfaction as she ate, not noticing a man come up beside her.

"Nice outfit."

She snapped out of her daydream, grinning as she replied, "I think so."

He flashed a toothy grin in return. Her eyes neatly scanned him over; spiky brown hair with truthful blue eyes, taller than her, lean, and well built.

"Matius, or just Matt." he smiled, extending a hand.

She nodded, taking a hold and shaking it, "Clyne."

"Interesting party, huh?"

"Yeah, I think I'll have a lot of fun here."

"Oh, you're a new arrival?" Matt asked, seemingly surprised.

"Yep, didn't you wonder why you've never seen me before?" she winked.

"Indeed, I doubt I would have missed seeing you around, even if this place is huge."

The two chatted for a while, with a bit of flirtation happening as well, but Clyne knew she wasn't going to do anything with him. After a while he asked her to dance. She shrugged and finished off her Smirnoff, leaving it on the table as they made their way into the sea of bodies. On their travels inwards they bumped into Ajack and Emi, saying a quick 'hi' they continued until there was space.

The two gyrated their hips with the heavy beat, her left hand went up into his mess of soft brown spikes as her right was wrapped under his left arm and gripped his shoulder for support, while his left was across her shoulders, and her right draped around her hips. They danced, switching positions every now and then. Clyne was getting a bit tired of the dancing and excused herself, wading out, back to the bar to grab a Schnapps. Her face lit up as she saw Axl, having not noticed when she'd entered the party she made her way over.

"Hey Ax, since when'd you come in?"

She tried to mask it so well...amongst the rapid acceleration in her heartbeat he would have missed it, she felt the gossip flowing around them as he did...

...that's it...

The song began to die down, getting ready for the next "Emi...hold on a second." it's now my turn...releasing her from his hold and taking a step back, Ajack began to slowly take his silk pink shirt reveiling a black wifebeater underneath. Without a care he also threw his shirt away like Emi had done with her fishnet.

Suddenly to Emi's surprise, Ajack began to take off his sunglasses. She quickly rushed up to him, standing on her tiptoes to be eye to eye with him, Emi clamped her hands over his has he started to pull off his sunglasses, stopping him.

"What are you doing?" she hadn't seen this kind of behavior before from him, in a way she was afraid to see the eyes underneath.

"Trust me...I'll keep my eyes closed." Emi reliqueshed her strength from his hands, but still held onto them as he pulled them off. As he said, he kept his eyelids closed.

"Why are you doing this?" she questioned as she took the glasses away from him and carefully put them in their case which was in his pocket. What fear she had of his actions quickly faded into was she could only describe as an overwelming rush of excitment.

"Because tonight, I'm not blind." giving her a loving smile. She knew of course that he wanted everyone to see him like a regular person so that she wouldn't feel any discomfort from their surroundings. How little he knew, that in her mind, she saw him as so much more.

As the music began to play again; a metal/rap variety, without warning Ajack took Emi back into his arms and pressed her close to him, skin against skin...pelvics connected. It took Emi less than second to get back into the grove of the music. She lost herself so quickly in his touch that she hadn't noticed his left hand was on her waist...but his right hand...

A rush of passion and lust empowered her has she felt his right palm being gently pressed on her face...his thumb gliding softly across her cheek. His eyes were closed and blind obviously, but he was feeling her...her face...her every detail.

...please see me Ajack...please...

With this was going on through her mind, she lost herself once again as Ajack had as well. Their waist and legs intertwined as they flowed to the music, feeling one another, he was much more toned in muscle than she had imagined which only added to her infatuation . She had her eyes closed as well, lossing herself in the moment as she smelled and felt him close to her. Every sensation burned like liquid fire through her veins...so this is how it must be like...

Quickly transitioning to the change in momentum of the song, Emi turned herself to her backside, pressing herself firmly against as they continued. Ajack didn't miss a beat, he was a complete natural. She wrapped her right arm around his neck to keep his face close, almost breathing into one another and grabbed his left thigh with her free hand to keep him close. Ajack in turn placed his right hand on her belly, and his other on top of hers on his thigh. Throughout the grinding he'd changed his right hand from belly to hip to inner-thigh and back again.

It felt like an eternity in their own darknesses of sight as the music engulfed them both. Emi was so lost in their lust...or even passionate love when Ajack surprised her again with a quick thrust upward with his hips, causing her to straigthen up. Emi's eyes burst open as she could feel him from behind.

"Uh..." was all that came from her voice as he quickly turned Emi towards him and spun her with his right arm away from him. She gave him a bright smile as he spun her back in perfect sync. with the song as it came to its climax. As the song began to die down, Emi spun back into Ajacks arms and dipped her, arching her as far as she could go.

When the song finally ended Ajack jerked up towards him, causing her hair to fall in front of her face. They were both sweat immensly as Ajack dipped his head where she caught it with her forehead after pushing her hair aside. Both of her hands were upon his chest as his hands were on her hips. They stood like that with one another for a long time as the pause continued between the song.

As the next song began to pick up, Ajack lifted his head away from Emi's and swung his head to get his hair out of his face. Emi looked up to a very content and peaceful smile.

"Ready to go again, or have I exhausted you?" he couldn't help himself chuckle.

Emi backed away from him slightly and placed her right hand on his cheek...not saying anything. She pulled her touch back and proclaimed.

"I was born ready!...that was amazing! you're so full of surprises tonight Ajack!"

"And I could dance with you all night."

Something quickly alarmed Ajack as heavy footsteps apart from the dancing that surrounded them came from behind Emi.

Artek sipped his Daniels slowly, savoring the burn flowing down his throat as he watched the dance floor. Emi and Ajack were going wild, enjoying themselves. A curious event with Ajack's glasses twitched Artek's attention, but he didn't really feel like asking.

We all have our secrets.....

Artek's thoughts drifted away from his secrets as his gaze alighted on Rusti. A twinge of jealousy burned within him as he saw Cassidy chatting with her. He almost started, wanting to break off and attack, but his self-discipline, honed after fourteen years of martial arts and military training, had clamped down on it.

Damnit, I don't get jealous. She... she can't mean anything to me. I won't let her....damn it...

His eyes perused the area around him, his attention flickering from various other trysts and meetings around him. He sighed, downed his drink, and stalked out. A glance at the clock told him it was one in the morning. He shrugged and turned towards his room. Closing the door, he smiled secretly to himself. The only male cadet with his own room. He rather enjoyed that; it kept the scars secret, at least. He shucked his shirt from his body and grabbed a towel, heading out of his room and keying the lock. As he walked out, towards the gym, a nagging in the back of his mind suddenly awakened. He shrugged his bare chest and shook his head; he needed to get his Val Tudo in, and the gym was the perfect place for it. He never realized his shirt was crumpled on his bed....
