Cassidy was the third member of the team behind the soldier that lead them through ANGEL wire to where their Mechs would be located. Anticapation ran rampid through Cassidy's system as the battle approached. Surprise had taken him only briefly when he heard that he would be the squadron leader for this mission then rationalized that he was probably the best for the job.

They came to an abrupt halt in fright of a large metal door. The soldier typing away the passcode and door flew up. Cassidy instantly locked eyes on his MechAnima expecting to see the white gloss of its coat and the startling green-yellow eyes staring back at him, but it was merely the grey husk of what was to become. A man of small stature approached their team looking rather geeky in his lab coat, but did not wear the typical glasses look.

"I am Professor Hastings--." The man began.

"Not to be out of line, Sir, but we haven't the time for introductions." Cassidy interrupted.

"You must be Lieutenant Stevens," the Professor said humbly.

"Sir," Cassidy saluted.

"Since you seem to be eager for battle I shall issue your MechAnima first."

Cassidy stepped forward and extended his hand to recieve the white SOUL module card that would allow him to access his new partner's system. He saluted once more and quickly made his way to the locker room to suite up. Cassidy thumbed the card that lay in his right hand as he trotted along. Its bright white coloring reminding him of the silk coat of the wolf that had been plaqueing him during the few dreams he allowed to slip through. The thought further leading him to Rusti, he hadn't seen the crystal laying on her chest. He could feel his chest swell with dismay, but he did not let it affect his judgement. Now was not the time to think of love affairs, civilizans needed his head clear and the base needed his strength.

He found his locker easily and was in his suite before the next person was in the locker room. He traveled across the hanger and stood below his MechAnima. He gave a heavy sigh as he climbed the ladder into the cabin of the wolf's large head. He placed his card into its slot and began to strap himself in. He flipped a few switches and waited for the machine to come to life. It jerked front to back as the animal rose to his four legs.

"Lieutentant Stevens." A soft masculine voice rose from within his white and grey helmet.

"Stevens here." He replied back.

"Statistic observer, Second Lieutenant Daves."

"Rodger that Daves."

"You're online and ready for launch. Have you down space launching before, Stevens?"

"Yes," Cassidy replied, manovering his MechAnima so that the straps could take their places around his legs and pull him into his caspule. He rotated the Mech slightly and made him lay at the bottom of the caspule.

"You are set for launch," Daves said as the caspule door swung shut. "In five, four, three, two, one." The caspule dropped from the hanger and instantly Cassidy felt the lack of gravity. He remembered the first few times he had done this he had vomitted all over himself.

As he floated towards the planet, Cassidy played with his system, closing his helmet's sheild and setting up his communication with the others. It was mere minutes when his caspule landed softly on a sand patch on the ground, the caspule door hissing as it decompressed and swung open.

Once again, the Mech jerked back and forth as Cassidy brought him back to his feet. The straps twisted around and off of the legs, and Cassidy took the first few steps onto the planet, the hissing and compressing of the joints of his Mech sounding off as he waited for the others.

"Lieutenant Ajack...may I have a word with you first." The sound of a very old woman's faint voice rang in Ajack's ear has he stopped with the assistant who was at his side, leading him to his mech. Before leaving Ajack had quickly embraced Emi in a loving farewell hug, both smelling and feeling each other as if it were going to be the last. When they released one another Ajack was smiling brightly, as he knew she was as well.

The old woman now stood before him and placed within his hand a couple sheets of paper for Ajack to "read" during his decent. "I am Professor Rin...I've been studying your simulation tests for a couple of years now, and I will be your statistical analyzer for this mission. Before you left I just wanted to introduce myself and give you instructions on the operation of Apollo."

"Apollo?'' Ajack was startled at the name as the assistant left his side, probably being motioned away by this Rin character.

"Yes...your mech. the Cheetah has been given that name for various reasons." the professor startled on the word "various..." Ajack took note but continued to listen without distraction. "But that isn't important, what is important is that you understand by reading the information on those sheets of paper how to operate your mech. to its maximum capabilities."

Without warning the professor took hold of Ajack's arm and walked him towards his mech...letting him know the intricate details of the machine. While Ajack was being strapped into his harness to be lifted into the machine, the professor continued to inform him without pause as they prepared him for launch.

"Oh...one more thing..." Ajack was nearly hanging halfway in the air when he heard the professor yelling at him. "there is a new program installed into your system that may feel...ackward when you activate Apollo. Good Luck."

Grabbing the edge of the opening in the machine to climb himself up, he soon was out of sight of the professor.

...you look so much like your father... Professor Rin thought to herself as she turned around only to bump suddenly into Air Marshall Hagan. His stern stare down at the old woman was enough to get the information he needed from her eyes...he told him nothing.

"I hope you know what you're doing Rin...for all their sakes."

Without a word nor any kind of response, the old woman quickly walked by the Air Marshall and continued on with her work.

***

The rest of the trip was very reutine for Ajack...the change in gravity and atmospheric pressure around him was all like the simulations back on earth. Gliding his finger carefully against the sheet of paper before him, he quickly memorized the systems of the mech.

The Cheetah...or Apollo, had a skin made completely of tiny microfibers to give the impression of actual skin of an animal for the most maximum efficiency of wind resistance. Aside from its biting and slashing attacks, a duel pair of energy blades were attached on either side of the mech. The only other thing that caught Ajack's attention were the rockets installed on the shoulderblades and hindlegs, and the ion vacuum on the beasts back.

Quickly reading through the instructions for their purposes, Now approaching Earth...please prepare for impact... Something wasn't right, as close to the planet as Ajack was, he still had no control over the machine. This wasn't like the simulations where premade images were injected into his mind through his implants in his temples...this was real life...and he was dead and blind.

Landing safely on the planet, the Mech. was working automatically and walked out of the now sliding doors of the capsal. The world was black to him till a voice brought some light to his world...

...Trust me... an image of a Cheetah burst into his mind.

"Who are you?" Ajack found himself talking to himself as the panic from before left him...now feeling psychotic.

Suddenly something began to make its way into his implants from both sides. They felt like wires burrowing themselves into his skull. The pain was excrusiating...

...forgive me if this hurts... said a voice in his mind.

"YOU DAMN RIGHT IT HURTS!!!" screamed Ajack at the top of his lungs until his pain died...and what came next...almost caused Ajack to die himself.

After a few moments, sensations of color and light flooded his eyes as a screen appeared before him. No...it wasn't a screen...it was outside! The grass blew in the wind as shades of blue and white from the sky above almost made Ajack cry...it was so beautiful.

Before Ajack could say anything...a beep was appearing in his vision on the right...amazing...I can see outside as if I was the mech itself...and still interact with the technology inside the cockpit. By just using his memory of the layout of the cockpit, he opened the communication channel with the button on his side and saw Cassidy and his face!

**Ajack, are you alright?** he can't see my eyes, Ajack didn't realize he still had his sunglasses on. Ajack didn't say anything...and just stared at the man before him, taking in every detail.

**Ajack answer me**

**I'm sorry Cassidy, I'm still getting used to my mech.**

**Alright, I'm glad to hear that You're ok. We're the first to arrive so be still until I give further instructions understood?**

**Yes sir** and with a click in the screen Cassidy's face dissapeared.

Ajack was speechless. Taking his vision away from the main screen, like his mind came back into his brain, he looked around the cockpit and at other side screens showing vitals and power. Seeing his reflection...he swore he could see two big green emerald eyes looking back at him.

...now Ajack...like your dreams...roar with me...

At first he was caught off guard by the voice in his head, but his memory of his dreams quickly returned...bringing his vision back outside to the vastness of colors and putting his sunglasses on to hide his eyes for the moment, Ajack screamed at the top of his lungs in not only the rush...but of the freedom he now felt within him. Fheng Lei was getting hyped up by now. He was going on his first mission as a new recruit to the Angel Wire. Getting to fight air born mechs with the new soul module sounded fun and sounded like a challenge at the same time. Hearing that Charon was the Squad Leader didn't really bother him because he is getting to see what he is up against. So Fheng was mentally prepared for the fight so he finally left. This time he actually ran to the second hanger in anticipation. He was running through the halls with disregaurd to anyone who he might hit on the way there. He had only one thought in his head and that was the fight. He is going to get to see his team in action. He came to a pair of doors that slowly opened.

The first sight he saw was the six mech animas. They had a sleek and shiny look to him. He was awe struck and he would never forget this moment. Then he noticed a man walking towards them. He introduced himself as Professor Stian but Fheng wasn't interested. He was still in awe of the mech pilots. Few seconds later it was his turn to get the Soul Module. He stepped up to the man excited.

"Hello,Lei. You have been assigned the Falcon. Now you are able to pilot it." The man said seeing the amazement in Fhengs eyes

Fheng looked at the chips' ellegant hazel brown color as it shined. It almost seemed alittle transparent.

"Thank you" Fheng said showing great grattitude

He left the hanger and headed to the Mens Locker Room. He went to his locker and put on his suit that seemed to hug his body. He left the locker room and ran back into the hanger to his Mech Anima. He looked up and smiled as he climed but the ladder to get into the falcons chest area. He opened the cockpit and quickly hopped in. Fheng was amazed at the sight of the controls as he closed the cockpit back. He pulled himself together and pushed the Soul Module into a slot that appeared to the right of him, then identified himself. Everything seemed to light up as he sat there. Then a voice came up.

"Lieutenant Lei, Come in." A calm male voice came in

"Yeah, yeah Lieutenant Lei here." Fheng said quickly

"I am Lieutenant Swiif, and I will be your statistic observer. You can call me Swiif for short. 'Cause if your trying to tell me something in a threatening situation saying Lieutenant Swiif would take alittle long, eh?" He replied chuckling alittle

"Ha ha, alright you can call me Fheng." Fheng said trying to sound friendly

"Ok Fheng, Get ready for launch. Just activate your mechs skeleton" He said

There was a sleek keyboard to the left of him. He looked at it then started typing quickly.

"O.K, I'm ready for launch!" Fheng said in a jolly manner

"Great!" Swiif said starting to feel excited

The Falcon was lifted into position as the lights slowly turned from red to green. The Falcon started to launch out, and the gravity lock started to get less of a grip. The Falcon was finally torn away from the gravity lock and launched out to space. Fheng Lei loved Space and how it felt so majestic to him. He strayed alittle to the right so he could get out of the way of others as he waited to see how everyone else piloted their mechs. He was definantly excited.

Emi rolled her shoulders as she listened to her orders, she nodded one last time as chip was placed in her hand.
"Good luck Blade."
"Yeah yeah, it's all Karma."
She walked over to the Fox Mech, knowing in her heart that it was hers, she saw the suit perched next to the cable and smiled as she saw her name on it.
"Yahoo mother fuckers."
she streched as she slipped into the form fitting suit, it was tight and moveable. She nodded in approveal and grabbed the line that lead to the cockpit.
"One more thing Blade. Your to back up Masters if need be."
"Was planning on it Hastings."
She gave him a wink and tugged on the cable smileing as she was lifted into the Mech and flopped down onto the pioleting seat. She wiggeld her butt and and relaxed as she inserted her SOUL Moduale into the main swtich baord and clapped with delight as the Mech came online."
"Yippie ky aie!""
She began to strap into the Mech as she heard Hastiings come into the com link.
"You helmet should be there, now you'll need to get into the pod as quickly as possible."
She slipped on the helmet satisfiyed as it did not hinder her veiw any.
"Got it."
She took hold of the controls and pushed forward slightly jumping as the large Mech took a leap in the direction.
"Sorry, sesitive controls."
She scratched the back of ehr neck and tried again smileing as this time she succeded in brining the Fox into a nice comfortable crouch in the pod. THe straps were applied and the capsule closed behind her. She relaxed into the seat and drifted into a lazy sort of napping sleep till she hard the announcement that she was about to land. She sat up and put her belts back on. She blocked her eyes as the sunlight came into her cockpit as the dors fell open. She steered the Mech out into the open and smiled as she saw Ajack and Cassidy there.
'Well how do fellas?"
she smiled and picked her I-pod from the cuff inher jeans and found the spot to hook it up, she smile widened as the rock musich filtered throughout all the other Mechs.
"Well now what's a party with out music?"
She flipped a switch and blinked when Ajack came into veiw. She smiled and took hr time finding the swtich to shut it off so she could look at him, no knowing that he saw her too.
"Well, how much longer we have to wait Cassy?"
"It's Cassidy and untill the others get her we do nothing."
"That sucks."
She shrugged as she couldn't find the switch and relaxed back into the seat streching her hands back behind her head her smile still there.
You seem to have gotten comfortable
She looked around a she recgonized the voice, she caught sight of the small fox sitting on the switch boards and smiled.
"Desh?"
She felt the safer for some reason and turned the music up,hunching forward so she could look around.
"Okay I have coffically decided this is the shit!"
She grabbed the controls and flexed her hands ready and itching for a fight, the whole time Ajack could be seen out the corner of her eye on her vid scree.

As she entered the primary hangar Axl was totally bewildered at the site of the MechAnima?s, they were magnificent; she felt her heart beating just a little faster.

?Lieutenant Logan?? Axl stepped forward, her back straight and a stern expression set on her face. ?Here is your SOUL module...? Axl took a moment to study the completely black chip, when she turned it in the light it seemed to shine different colors. ?You are now able to pilot the Scorpion.? Professor Hastings concluded. Axl?s eyes widened at the words, the Scorpion? This couldn?t have been a coincidence, Axl didn?t believe in coincidences. She turned on her heal to the locker rooms and got her suit on. Carrying her helmet under her arm she walked out to greet her mech.

The piloting suit felt smooth and almost elastic, Axl spotted her mech immediately. Its most notable features were the two massive clawed arms protruding outwards from the body of the mech, and the very large and long tail coming from the back end of the mech. The tail was currently poised as if it was a bout to strike, curled back over the main body of the mech. It had eight legs as the real arachnid would. Axl found herself wondering how difficult it was going to be to pilot so many moving limbs. She noted the large gun mounted to the tail where the stinging barb on the real thing would be and other guns mounted inside the large pincers that seemed as though they could be retracted. A strange module was attached to the mech. They looked like small boosters attached to each leg. If they were of any importance someone would let her know, she hoped.

As she stepped under the massive gray structure she noticed the mech had six eyes instead of the normally designated two. ?This day is just full of surprises?? she muttered to herself as she stepped into the mech?s inbuilt lift. The lift came from the belly of the mech itself as it seemed to have no other way of entry. Axl put her helmet on as she pushed the button to retract the lift, an automatic gate closed to her side as the lift was brought back up inside the mech. Axl looked up as the black hole for the lift loomed closer, she looked down and saw she was quite a fair way off the ground. Swallowing loudly she found herself gripping the hand rails a little more tightly.

Everything went dark and a loud metallic clunk resounded in her ears as the lift locked back into place, Axl found there was a short walk to the pilot seat, looking behind her the lift occupied a small space, it was as if the mech could double as transport for other pilots if anything ever happened. Shrugging to herself Axl sat down and strapped in. she inserted the SOUL module as she typed on a rather chunky keyboard. The mech hummed to life and lights popped on all around her, they were dim however. Her mind boggled at all the switches, keyboards and screens that were in the mech. The massive arachnid stood completely still.

?Lieutenant Logan.? A deep raspy voice almost commanded through the comm System.

?Logan here? Axl replied

?Statistic observer, Second Lieutenant Worth?

?Call me Ax sir.?

?Call me John.?

?No problems.?

?You?ll be seeing a lot of controls in front of you Ax. Try not to worry about them too much right now.?

?A lot of controls are you serious? I have no less than six LCD screens in front of me??

?Relax; just moved your mech into the capsule, you?ve got too many appendages for us to be using the strap lift.?

?Roger.? Axl placed her hands on the controls and mech inched forwards, each leg following the other, just like the real thing.

?Ax you?re going to have to be a lot more violent with those controls, he?s a heavy mech and need you to give those commands a good whack.? Axl nodded and pushed down harder on the controls, the mech moved more quickly and seemed to be more responsive. She maneuvered the mech into the capsule and the door shut with a boom. She positioned the mech inside so that its tail came over its head and its legs and claws were neatly tucked beneath it.

?Permission to launch??

?Granted?

Axl could hear the metallic clunking and hissing as her capsule was released and began falling to earth, she looked over her systems while she fell, she began to recognize some of them. So far only one of her screens was responding. ?One for each eye?? she pondered. Axl could feel the pitching and rolling of the capsule as the rocket engines guided her down. The ride went without a hitch and as her pod landed the doors gently opened. Light didn?t flood the cockpit, it still stayed dark surprisingly.

Each one of her screens sprang to life, displaying the terrain in different ways, telling her different things. One screen caught her attention and her heart almost skipped a beat.-Initiating systems, underground sensors operational, initiating EMM, targeting, communications, check OK. Axl starred at the various screens all these systems at once? a board smile crossed her face as she brought the mech outside and over to the others waiting.

?Axl reporting? she spoke happily.

?You?re in a good mood.? Cassidy replied.

?Eager I guess.? Music floated into her mech from Emi?s, her smile widened; Axl had always liked Emi?s style of music. It was different from what she listen to, and a nice change.

?You seem happy.? Axl leant back and sighed.

?For once Ra I think I am happy.? She replied. Axl flexed her finger and stretched her arms, piloting the mech was hard work, the controls were heavy. She typed on the various key boards and information floated across her screens. She was support after all and proud of it.

Trysten was the last to leave the Strategy room as they broke into a soft jog following the officer. The idea of being Squadron Leader hadn't affected Trysten's disposition in the least, in a group like this everyone really knew what to do, all he had to really do is keep everyone on the same page, accomplish the mission and make the major decisions. The Second hanger was only a short distance off which they covered quickly. The MechAnimas stood silent, their grey metallic surfaces making them seem like mechanical gargoyles.

Clyne patted Trysten on the shoulder as they examined what they would soon be piloting, "I'll trust your judgements, Squadron Leader." she whispered with a smile that put one to match on Trysten.

As the Group admired the wonders of science a smudge covered man approached them.

? These are the pilots?? he asked very quickly, knowing the full extent of the situation at hand. The officer nodded and then left their group, having jobs to do elsewhere. The scientist looked over them speedily before introducing himself.

? Not isn?t the time for large introductions, but I?m Professor Stian. Lieutenant Ophelia, step forward,?

"Lieutenant Blackfeather, step foward"

"Lieutenant Geiger, step foward"

"Lieutenant Lei, step foward"

"Ah lastly Lieutenant Charon, Step foward" The professor said looking closely at Trysten "Here is your SOUL Module, you are the designated pilot of the bat, otherwise know as Nocturne" Handing Trysten the chip he examined it in his palm. The chip was pitch black save for a green cross. "The reason why I gave yours last is I wanted to give you some recent data on the mission, mainly the MechAnima units you'll be facing, we can talk on your way to the lockers" Stian stated pointing to the mens lockers.

"While I am unsure the specifics the Air MechAnimas underdevelopment at that section of ANGEL Wire were Wyvern class, Sparrow class, and Pegasus class, though their seems to be a few we don't have accounted, You got that son" The man said waiting for a nod from Trysten before continuing.

"Good, The Sparrow class is very similar to your own, albiet a prototype model so to say, Wyvern's being closer to Lieutenant Ophelia's Pheonix, and the Pegasus a less poweful but agile version of Lieutenant Geiger's Dragon, I just want you to keep that in mind so you have an idea of their combat capabilities, though their weapons are an unknown, so use caution. They are only at 50% efficiency but stay on guard we are unsure if there are any enemy units, judging from your data you should fine." Stian finished with a reassuring smile.

"Sir" Trysten replied giving the man a swift salute before running to his locker.

The suit was tight, and form fitting, comfortable but he wasn't used to it. Spreading out his fingers to tighten up the fit on his hand Trysten clenched his hand into a fist, "Perfect" he thought grabbing his helmet and running out into the hangar. His MechAnima loomed over him, and for a moment he thought he saw a green gleam in it's eyes, though dismissed the thought as he rose slowly on the pull line.

Jumping off the rope he settled himself in the cockpit, inserting his SOUL Module in the designated slot the OS started with a glow. Number shot down the screen as the system initiated, the display screen flickering as the veiw of the hanger appeared on the LCD screens, followed by a voice asking for his ID#, which Trysten recited calmly.

"Testing Lieutenant Charon do you read me" A raspy female voice blared through the speaker.

"Yes, Loud and clear" He replied adjusting the volume down.

"Ok, I'm Under Lieutenant Renaile, Ren for short"

"Lieuntenant Charon, how do things look up there"

"Uhh your power outage is slightly high, if you want to adjust that down a bit" Ren stated, typing softly in the backround.

Trysten added his own typing to the duet as he adjusted the power "Done how does that look"

"Great, everything is good to go Count"

"Count?" Trysten asked curiously at the name.

"I figured you need a nickname, you look kinda like a vampire no offense, and your piloting a bat Mech, Count Charon"

"No offense taken, I like it" Trysten replied, remembering that Charon was the ferryman of the underworld in Greek Mythology.

"Ok Count, You can go over the Nocturne's specs when you get back, but your basic weapons consist of dual Plasma Blades on the outide of each wing, a Sonic Disrupter Cannon housed in the mouth, and your claws on your feet" Taking a deep breath Ren continued. "Some other features small boosters in the feet, on the wings, and two on the tail, for speed and ariel manuevers, also Nocturne posseses one of the most advanced radar/detection systems ever utilized in a mech anima, so utilize those. "

Right now you're being placed on the launching cannon, all you need to do then is activate the frame which will put you on Gravity Lock, from there I have to authorize the launch, then green light and you accelerate until you reach enough momentum to break the gravity lock, got all that, sorry to lay it on thick, but you should be fine" Ren explained as Trysten was drawn to one side, the crane placing him on the cannon floor.

"Yeah, I got it, thanks for the information, I'll definately review it on return though" Trysten said tryping rapidly bringing Nocturne into launching position "Frame has been activated"

"Ok I'm your authorization has been approves, Nocturne Launch" Ren stated as the light turned green, the MechAnima accelerating forward rapidly.

Breaking free of the Gravity Lock Trysten eased the controls making the mech preform a smooth barrel roll. Accelerating Trysten dropped Nocturne at the head of the Aerial Unit.

"Listen up, I got some more information on the Mission, it looks like we are going up against prototype MechAnima models being the Wyvern, Sparrow and Pegasus. The number of which is still unconfirmed so expect more than less, that way your prepared. The Wyvern is close to the Pheonix in size, fire-power and manueverability, the Sparrow similar to my own Bat and Fheng's Falcon, while the Pegasus is a something of a more agile but less powerful Dragon. Keep those in mind so you know what to expect in combat, also it's unknown if there are any enemy units, so keep an eye out, got all that" Trysten recited calmly, recieving various kinds of yes in reply.

"Ok, I want to stay together on this so we're using a basic V formation, I want Clyne to take point, Artek and Rusti, your in the middle, while Fheng and I are the ends. At first contact you front three will fire off a barrage, try to aim for the larger MechAnimas, after that volley, Fheng and I are going to break off, circle around and flank the remenants taking out what we can, Your three are free to break off after that and engage whats left, we head South by South-West on an intercept route" Trysten gave off the order confidently, all should go as planned, being it was simple, simple plans worked best, because most plans didn't work.

"Any Questions?" Trysten added, just in case to make things clear, Clyne's voice running through his head "I'll trust your judgements, Squadron Leader".

OOC: I hope that is Ok Redemption, If there is any problems, or you want me to change something PM me.

Cassidy watched as the other units dropped from the sky and land. His two LCD screens displaying everything better than the simulations had. The controls felt smooth and natural under his hands as he made sure everything was in proper working order.

"Stevens?"

"Here, what information do you have for me Daves?" Cassidy replied firmly as he checked his intercoms so that he could have adquate means of comminucating with his team.

"The ground unit seems to be less than that of the Areial units," Daves' rather high pitched voice came over the 'com system. "You have the Lion unit which is based around strength rather than speed," Daves sent images to Cassidy's third LCD screen that was designed mainly for this purpose alone. He could hear faintly Daves typing away on the other end as he too went through his system to look at what Daves had discovered. "The Lion units also have massive cannons which make them harder to manovuer than say your unit or Ajack's, but if they get in too close they would over power you easily and destroy you. The next unit is a bull, once again they specialize in strength tatics with blaster cannons mounted on the side. If you can get in and take their legs out then they should be easy targets especially only working at 50%. The last of the ground units you may incounter is a Raptor. These guys are fast and deal heavily in close range combat. I think these guys will pose your biggest threat." The line fell quiet once more.

"Rodger that, Daves."

Cassidy scanned through his uploaded data and began sending it to the others.

"Alright, Ground Units, I have just sent you all the data I have just recieved from ANGEL wire. We'll stay together to move the civilizans to safety first and for most. When we come under fire I want Chase and Switch to pair off, Ajack and Emi, and Axl and I will defend the civilizans." Cassidy paused for a moment. "I don't want any heroics from either of you, Ajack and Emi."

Emi instantly began protesting Cassidy's discrimination.

"I know what love does to a fighter, I don't want it getting in the way of this mission. Do I make myself clear?" Cassidy said firmly, cutting her off.

He could hear Emi huffing over the 'com, but both took the order as they were supposed too.

"Once we have the civilizans safe, we'll proceed to neutralize the base and discover where their airship is. Now, Ground Units...MOVE OUT!" Cassidy shoved his controls forward and felt the thrusting jerk of his mech launching forward with ease.

Emi smiled wide and chuckled.
"What is so funny Emi?"
"Well you know 'Cassy-"
"Cassidy!"
"I know your just as worried about Rusti."
"that is not the issue here! Get those civilians to safety!"
"Yeah yeah, don't pinch your nuts to hard."
She smiled as she heard Axl chuckle over the com. She took hold of her controls and pushe dforwards catching up with the others quickly.
"This has got to be the smallest Mech amoung all of you all and I'll tell you what. Hot damn if this suck ain't quick."
"It's a Fox, they're supposed be be quick."
"You know what? Who asked you Cassy."
"We get done with this I'm gonna kick your ass Emerald."
"You'll have to catch me first."
She gave her vid screen a wink and a thumbs up and veered to the left following Ajack as they secured the East section of civilans. Almost five mintues alter she came on Cassidy's vid screen againg.
"All done here Cssy. What's next?"
"Lay low till I give the command."
she saluted.
"Affermitive."
He could tell by the look in her eyes that she was serious now. They all could still hear the music filtering from Emi's Mech, even the one's in the air could hear it as they were all linked by coms.

2 AM and she calls me 'cause I'm still awake,
"Can you help me unravel my latest mistake?,
I don't love him. Winter just wasn't my season"
Yeah we walk through the doors, so accusing their eyes
Like they have any right at all to criticize,
Hypocrites. You're all here for the very same reason

They could hear Emi singing to the song lightly, their nerves seeming to relax slightly as they all waited for the first attack to come at them. Not really knowing where or when. Emi sighed as she sang the song she had on her favorits list in her i-pod and flipped a switch so she could see her stasts. She was down on strenght next to most if not all of them, her manuverabilty was exceptional, her and Ajack would be the easiest to move amoung the enemies. She looked at the weapons avablible to her. She heaved a sigh. Not much.

'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button, girl.
So cradle your head in your hands
And breathe... just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe

May he turn 21 on the base at Fort Bliss
"Just a day" he said down to the flask in his fist,
"Ain't been sober, since maybe October of last year."
Here in town you can tell he's been down for a while,
But, my God, it's so beautiful when the boy smiles,
Wanna hold him. Maybe I'll just sing about it.

She pulled out the keyboard and typed up a few things she wanted to see about he Mech. It had boostes on the back to make it easier to dodge and move. The fangs and claws were sharp and could be used as weapons. She had two small laser cannons on the back of the Mech, nothing to slow her down. She smiled as she caught sight of the cloaking device and the smoke screen ability.
'That will be useful'
She looked at the stats of the others, the fastes one amoung them by far was Ajack and the Cheeta, she felt a wsh of pride and admeration go through her, she continued to look a the stats as the others finished securing the civlians like her and Ajakc had done. She saw with little or no surprise that the slowest one amoung them was Axl was the slowest being a support Mech she was one that was going to need to have an eye kept open for.

Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable,
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table.
No one can find the rewind button, boys,
So cradle your head in your hands,

Oh breathe, just breathe

There's a light at each end of this tunnel,
You shout 'cause you're just as far in as you'll ever be out
And these mistakes you've made, you'll just make them again
If you only try turning around.

2 AM and I'm still awake, writing a song
If I get it all down on paper, it's no longer inside of me,
Threatening the life it belongs to
And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud
And I know that you'll use them, however you want to

But you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable,
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button now
Sing it if you understand.
and breathe, just breathe
woah breathe, just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe.

Emi flipped the music back to rock and heard Rusti laugh lightly.
"Keeping us calm are we?"
"Naw. Just adding my style to the mix."
"You do that anyway."
"Trysten, once again, who asked you?"
"No one, I just thought I would add my 'style' to the mix."
"Jump off the deep end why don'tcha?"
"Been there done that."
She opened her mouth to say something but all they heard was her blow a raspberry making most if not all of the other piolets cheuckle. Inside the base Hasteing and the other officers listened to the conversation carefully.
"You think that they can really do this?"
The commander nodded.
"If you can't tell they are all very close to one another. They help each other in some shape or form. They are perfect for this."
"If you say so sir."
"can you not hear it your self? They work together, keep each other focused, calm and in the right place."
They nodded and listend as the pilotes continued their conversations, most of them just laughing at the small verbal argument that Cassidy and Emi were having, each of them still tense and ready.

? No questions here, Trysten,? Rusti replied firmly, adrenaline starting to put through her veins. His tactics for battle ran through her mind. It was a good plan. No one would be left behind, or out to dry, because of the safety in numbers. And the anvil type tactic he was taking is very effective against the larger MechAnimas. Trysten also seemed like he had the swift Sparrow MechAnima covered, along with Fheng. Things seemed to be going along swimmingly.

Below them, the air division could hear the arguments and songs of Emi. Cassidy was the main recipient of the arguing that Emi was doing. They all knew Emi liked to go out on a branch and fight her own way, but in this situation, as Cassidy has already realised, it would be dangerous, and they could fail the mission because of her actions. But even though these arguments could disrupt others, it made the rest of the squadron, both air and ground, feel a little more relaxed on their first mission. The fight between Cassidy and Emi was all normal, even Emi?s singing made them feel like this was just another simulation. Rusti smiled to herself, silently thanking Emi for taking that nervous edge away from them.

A sudden beeping brought Rusti back to the situation at hand. She looked down at her navigation screen to see three red dots fast approaching her comrades? four green ones.

? Trysten!?
? I see them. Everyone, into formation!?

The five airborne MechAnimas moved into the V-formation with skilled ease. Clyne was at the front with her Dragon mech; Rusti and Artek flew at her flanks, a little ways behind her, in their Phoenix and Eagle mech, respectively; and finally, Trysten and Fheng flew at the rear, slightly hiding themselves behind the three larger mechs.

In the darkness ahead of them, Rusti could see the slight metallic glints of the three grey MechAnimas. A thought crossed her mind. Why did they send all five of us out if there are only three enemies that they know about? It seemed rather strange to Rusti, unless, the scientists were really unsure about the abilities of the MechAnimas that had fallen into the enemies? hands.

As both sides approached each other, Rusti could now make out the forms of the enemy. The mechs were grey, like Rusti?s. Surely if these things are prototype weapons, they could have given them a little colour, Rusti thought. The communications link between the ground and air divisions was severed, making sure that no one had any more distractions than was necessary.

Back in the station, the Air Chief Marshall and his direct subordinates, the Air Marshals, watched on anxiously from the bridge. They had one large screen for the ground division, and another for the air division. It flicked from one camera angle to another, allowing the senior officers to get a feel for the imminent battle.

An alarm went off in her cockpit. Rusti looked ahead of her. She could now see the detail of the approaching mechs, which meant that they were within firing range.

? Clyne, Rusti, Artek ? ready?? Trysten called through the intercom. ? We?ll strike them before they get a chance to.?
? Yes sir!? the three front pilots called back in unison. Rusti fiddled with her keyboard, finding her left side missiles, as she was flanking Clyne on the left side, Artek on her right. She waited for the signal to fire as she positioned the crosshairs on the screen in front of her to aim at the approaching Wyvern. There was a tense air as the first three pilots waited for Trysten?s command before?

? FIRE!?

Rusti hit the launch button, the crosshairs finally landing on the Wyvern. She could feel the left wing of her mech become slightly more light as the missile flew forward effortlessly in space. Moments later, they exploded on impact with their targets, the sound of the explosion silent in space.

? Yes!? Rusti said to herself softly in triumph. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see the Falcon and the Bat mechs bolt towards the three enemies. Rusti grabbed the joystick and thrust it forward and a little to the right, keeping with the formation she was in with Artek and Clyne.

? Ready for a battle Artek?? Rusti said, excitement clear in her voice.
? Sounds like you?re pumped,? he replied bluntly.
? That I am.?
? Another attack then break formation?? Clyne cut in.
? Should be fine,? Rusti replied, readying her second left-hand-side missile.

They all launched their chosen weapons in unison, making sure they were aimed at the enemy. The three missiles scooted along before Rusti?s went a little haywire and started towards Fheng?s Falcon.

? Rusti! What the hell are you doing?!? he asked angrily over the intercom as full-fledged battle erupted. The three enemies broke their formation and went after their respective battle equals. Rusti broke from her formation to dodge an oncoming stream of bullets.

? I ? don?t know! I was sure it was locked onto the Wyvern!? Rusti replied, trying to think of what could possibly be wrong. ? Wait ... they said these things were prototypes? that means that some things could be unfinished or not calibrated correctly, amongst a whole lot of other things that could go wrong. Shit!?

Rusti barrel-rolled with difficulty to dodge another stream of bullets from the Wyvern. She looked around at the others. Clyne was taking the Pegasus on by herself. Artek was attacking the Wyvern behind, obviously taking that Rusti was willing to be the one who would draw the Wyvern?s attacks. Trysten and Fheng were taking on the Sparrow with great difficulty. It seemed like this wasn?t going to go as smoothly as Rusti had previously thought.

===================================================

OOC: Ok everyone. The battle has commenced! All we need to do is to complete our battle objectives. The mechs that we are fighting are more powerful than ours because they have been completed past the prototype stage, unbeknownst to the senior officers in our ANGEL Wire space station. Our mech still have problems with them, so your battle shouldn?t be easy. I?m leaving it up to the squadron leaders to decide when the battle is over but it shouldn?t be more than 3 posts away for each person. Let?s kick some alien butt!

**Enemy Spotted! Northern Section...Move!** Cassidy's voice boomed over the intercom as the city soon became under attack. Outside the forcefield barrier, the ground units in their respectable partnerships formed together outside the city to confront the ambush.

**Stay with me Emi** Ajack firmly stated as if in a trance, moving his mech. slowly into position beside Cassidy and the others.

**Don't worry Ajack, this isn't...** there was s sudden crash on Emi's side of the intercom. The long range guns of the Bull Mech. that Cassidy had sent information on just minutes before began to bombard everyone.

**Emi watch yourself!** Ajack's voice was firm followed quickly by Cassidy's.

**We're boxed in people, Ajack...** Cassidy's video feed came into few on Ajack's screen for personal communication. **Ajack, use your Mech. to flank them on the left side and try to draw their firepower away from the city and ourselves...we'll meet you in the middle**

Without hesitation the Cheetah lept from its hind legs and sprinted to the left with remarkable speed. Only a cloud of dust remained from his path in a matter of moments as he ran out of sight and range of the long guns.

**Everyone! Pair off as I instructed you and we'll meet their close-range Raptor and Lion Mechs. head on; Emi** she and her fox mech. brought themselves finally to their feet. **Once we hit the amush join Ajack in their back lines**

***

...50% Ion charge.

The advancing prototypes took no notice of Ajack running parallel to them a few miles away. Out of their long range sensors, he swiftly made his way towards the Bull Mechs.

"Rockets On!" Ajack slammed the accelorator joystick foward as far as it could. The initial burst of speed almost knocked him unconcious from smashing his head back into his seat. Within moments, he was upon the Bull Mechs. and their cannons blasting away at the city. He appeared so suddenly the didn't know that he was there.

"Energy Blades engaged" upon command two blade emerged from the Cheetah's body and burst into a golden ray of light. With his rockets still blazing, Ajack almost instantaneous jumped on top of one of the Bulls and thurst one of the blades directly into its back, disarming the beast. The monster roared in anger as Ajack's mech quickly jumped off and sprinted towards another Bull, taking out its hind legs as Cassidy instructed to him.

Four more Bull mechs. remained, and turned their attention towards Ajack. Without hesitation Ajack quickly turned the Cheetah around and pretended to flee, still at top speed. The plan had worked, because of the intial threat to the Bull Mechs, they were to protect themselves and their long range guns would no longer hinder the rest of the squad.

...Warning! Warning! Malfunction!...Ion Vacuum Failing! Power Levels Depleating...40%...20%....

"You've got to be kidding me!?" Ajack was furious, but suddenly realized the predicament he was in. Without the speed boost he couldn't get out of range of the Bull mechs. in their persuit...he was a sitting duck. Right on cue, an energy burst exploded on the Cheetah's left hind leg, imidiately bringing Ajack down to a kneeling state.

''Mother Fucker!" Ajack cursed at the Alien fleet as they approached his position. Ajack's eyes burned with rage as he lifted with all his might on the controls to bring the left leg back up to a stand. With each blade still burning bright on either side, Ajack stared at the massive looking beasts coming towards him, weapons charged..."Let's do this."

**Mission Complete Sir! However Emi...I kinda need your help right now!**

Emi's evil cackle could be heard above all the commotionas she weaved in and out of all the mechs with ease, the samller Fox mech being easlily untargeted, or so Emi thought as a large Bull stood infront of her. She flicked the I-pod and smiled as Three Days Grace, Animal I have Become began to filter through the speakers. She twisted the controls and found to her glee that the Fox jumped back as the Bull stamped down on the ground snorting loudly riseing dust. She thrust the contorls forward and dashed between the legs and feet of the Bull and headed for Ajack.
"I'm on the way! I'll be there as soon as possible."
She screamed as a barrage of laser fire made the back legs of the Fox rise off the ground makeing the mech flip and land on it's side. She punched the button on her right grunting as the small thrusters got her back on her feet and faceing the Bull agian.
"Horse humping-"
Cassidy's voice came over her com.
"No time for name calling"
"I know I know!"
She typed on the board infront of her scaneing the Bull mech onfront of her, she smiled triumphantly as she found a small weak point on the beast, it was risky, that was a given but it was worth a try. She flipped the boosters back on and went through the legs curseing as one of the horns caught her mech on the shoulder, she pushed the mech through and whooped loudly as the her mech tore through the weak armor tearing the hydralics wire to the hind legs. She turned her mech and headed for Ajack when he felt the mech shudder as lasers were concentrated on her.
"Damnit!"
She looked behind her and saw that the Bull she has pulled down was blasting at her she felt a slight panic take her as she realized this was going to be harder then she thought. She looked at her weapons and smiled as she saw the smoke screen, she pressed it and waited, she could hear some confused voices on her com, she looked at her radar and saw with a smile that none of her fellow piolets could be seen, it masked their signals but they could still see the enemy. She took off as quickly as she could towards Ajack and as she got there she saw him pinned by a Bull and took out the back hydralics as before and turned on a vid link to check if he was alright.
"Ajack, are you alright? Are you hurt?"
"No, jarred, but not harmed."
If your sure. Can you get your mech up? I've bought a little time with the smoke screen."
"I can try."
"Well, not to pressure you or anything...but thats most likey a good idea."
She heard him chuckle and saw as the Cheeta slowly got to it's feet.
"You need to get back to base and get repaird. You in no condition to fight with that leg."
"I'm not leaveing you and the others out here."
"Fine just stay close incase you need help will you?"
She Moved her mech around and rejoined the fray.

"Axl, to my right!" Cassidy cried into the 'coms as he shoved his mech forward. The machine protested loudly as he tried to dodge the first set of on coming missles.

The large scorpion mech rushed from its current position to flank the outside edge of the civilians, creating a semi-circle of machinary around them. One of Cassidy's vid screens was picking up the terrified cries of the people below them as Emi's music blarred in his cockpit. He grit his teeth at the frustarting array of sounds as he dodged another set of missles.

"If they get any closer, Cassidy, they're going to hit the civilians!" Axl's voice came over the com system loud and clear. That was right about the time when Emi's fog cannon went off, covering them almost completely.

"Axl, can you still hear me?" Cassidy typed away on his screen, preparing his mech of night vision, hoping that would at least help some in this mess.

"Yeah." Axl replied.

"Good. Move the civilians out towards the pods. I don't care if you have to carry them all on your Mech...just get them out of here!" Cassidy commanded.

His vid screens began to clear slightly as he began to make out a mech heading straight for him. His heart leaped in his chest. He was far too closer to the civilians to be in a full fledge battle. He jerked the controls to the right, rotating the massive mech on its haunches and broke into a mad dash as fast as his mech would go. The mech jarred back and forth, rocking Cassidy around in his straps.

"Cassidy!" he heard some one yell over the com, Emi popping up on his extra LCD screen.

"Emi, what?" Cassidy said, his voice coming in rush of gasps.

"Ajack's taking a nasty beating already, his hind leg is pretty busted."

Before Cassidy could reply his whole mech took a heavy hit, it losing its footing and falling to the ground on its chest. Cassidy groaned with the effort to keep the mech's controls in his hands as his body was thrown against his straps. He began checking his screens feeling the force from above.

"Damn it! That Raptor jumped me!" Cassidy cursed as he tried to shake it, but couldn't get his mech to stand up. "Come on!!"

"Stevens...you're taking heavy damange to the outter husk of your mech. Before long that Raptor is going to tear through and into your wiring. You need to get him off and now!" Daves' voice screamed into his helmet.

Axl checked her multiple screens, her eyes darting from one to the other in a desperate attempt to get a grip on the situation. She did as Cassidy instructed and herded the civilians back towards the pods. Axl didn?t like leaving him there to fend fro himself but she didn?t really have a choice. If one of the raptors or worse yet one of the lions decided to go rouge and come after her the civilians would be in serious trouble. Axl didn?t even stop to think that her life could be in danger; the thought didn?t even cross her mind, the civilians lives came first, and then her team mates. Without civilians then her team mates came first allways.

Slowly but surely she led the civilians through the smoke in the direction of the pods, once inside they would all be much, much easer to defend. The problem was getting there in once piece. The smoke began to clear slightly as Axl listened in on the radio chatter.

"Cassidy!" Emi?s voice burst over the radio, urgency apparent in her tone.

"Emi, what?" Cassidy replied gasping.

"Ajack's taking a nasty beating already, his hind leg is pretty busted."

Axl waited and listened further, hearing nothing she became concerned and began scanning the battle field with her long range sensors. Her attention was immediately drawn to that of Cassidy?s mech and another signature that appeared beside his, a raptor. Halting her mech and the civilians, Axl slowly spun her scorpion around in his direction. She told the civilians to stay calm and do exactly as she tells them. Obeying, they all walked away from the mech, but not far enough so that they couldn?t use her for cover if anything happened.

Her fingers began to dance across her various bulky key boards, and her eyes whipped from screen to screen. Equations and calculations appeared on a screen to her right, while another displayed information on the planets weather conditions and various wind speeds. Axl breathed deeply before pushing various buttons and griping her controls firmly.

The civilians out side became mesmerised as the giant arachnid sprayed its six legs out wide and released large clamps, securing it firmly to the ground. Its pincers shot open and jammed themselves into the ground as well, some of them gasped as its massive tail slowly bent over in on itself and hung over the cockpit, just like the real thing would when about to strike using its sting.

?Charging particle beam?? Axl announced to command, various voices shot into her ears, all of them yelling. -25% charged, one of her screens flashed. Ignoring the voices she proceeded to charge the beam, -60%. Typing various calculations and compensating for windage she slightly adjusted her mechs tail.

?Axl! Axl! Logan! Do not fire the beam! It?s only in the development stages, it?s a prototype mech, we aren?t sure of how powerful it is yet, it isn?t even properly calibrated. You could take out Cassidy as well!? the voice belonged to her static observer. Axl?s eyes went dark and her face showed no sign of emotion. 95% charged.

?If I don?t he?s dead anyway.? Axl cut all communications momentarily with home base, one of her six screens showed Cassidy?s mech being attacked by one of the raptors; it was ripping his mechs outer skin to shreds, it was only a matter of seconds until it broke into the wiring. Settling a pair of translucent cross hairs over the raptor she checked everything one last time. -Particle beam charged 100% flashed across her main screen.

Axl took a large breath in before holding it, her finger hovering above the fire button. A scream suddenly burst into her helmet and she hesitated no longer. Settling the cross hairs over the raptor one last time Axl fired.

A beam of white light shot out from the end of the mechs tail cannon, streaking across the battle field at tremendous speed. Axl?s heart skipped a beat when Cassidy?s mech strayed in the path if the beam but moved out of the way mere milliseconds before it would have hit leaving the raptor in the line of fire. The charged beam struck the raptor on its right side putting a large hole in its light armour and severely lessening its manoeuvrability but it still seemed to be able to function. It was thrown off Cassidy?s mech an onto the ground, giving Cassidy the break he needed to get back the upper hand.

?Cassidy do you read me?? Axl waited but there was no reply. ?Cassidy?? Axl heard rustling over his channel.

?I?m here Axl, damn, thanks.? Cassidy?s voice came in huffs, Axl nodded in response.

?You owe me one Cassidy, now get off your butt and take that raptor out before it takes you.?

Axl resumed herding the civilians back towards the pods, Cassidy still had a fight on his hands with the raptor, but at least it was off of him and weakened . There would be plenty of time for thank youse later. Herding the civilians was taking a lot longer than Axl thought it would. Eventually they all came to a large expanse of open land where the pods had landed. Axl?s eyes widened and her heart sank as two lion mechs with one raptor came into view. They were standing guard around the pods. Cleverly the aliens had deployed probably their strongest fighters to capture and defend the enemy?s only means of evacuation. There was no way she could take out three mechs by her self, sighing she broadcast over the radio, re-establishing her link with ANGEL wire.

?I have three enemy mechs in sight, two lion and one raptor; they have cut off my only means of getting to the pods, requesting assistance.? Sweat grew in beads on her forehead and her muscles ached from the heavy controls. Voices suddenly the silence was broken as voices shot into her ears probably telling her off for using the sniping capability of her mech but she chose to ignore them again and waited.

Artek noticed the problem with Rusti's volley and nodded to himself, thumbing the switch to disarm all missiles. They weren't his forte, anyway. He thumbed his vulcans on and twitched his crosshairs over the Wvyern's engine block, his face cool and unearthly as he let loose a blast that should have stopped his enemy's propulsion tanks.

"SHIT!"

The spray went wide, slightly to the left of his intended target. A few holes in the Wyvern's tail, not even close to the engine block. Artek twitched and paled when he saw the craft turn sharply and target him.

"Raven, ROLL RIGHT!"

Two steps ahead of Trysten's order, Artek was already jerking hard on the joystick, slamming his weight to the right. But the stick wouldn't move. Artek could see the missile bay doors opening on the Wyvern's right wing, and his face began to pale.

"ARIA!!! NOOO!!!!!!!"

He shook off the memory and threw his weight to the left, tucking into a roll and spraying a volley of bullets as he rolled. It was luck, he acknowledged, and nothing else that spared his life as one tracer hit a missile, initiating a chain reaction that left nothing but shrapnel to pepper his Eagle as the Wyvern soared over, the bottoms of both Mechanimas scraping slightly. Artek sighed and slammed his afterburners on. He needed to fix his stick, and fast.

"This is Raven. I've got a lockleft joystick, and my vulcan crosshairs are off by approximately ten degrees to the left. Take note, and watch for similar problems."

He rolled off and took fresh aim, shuddering as he planned a more well-prepared strike on this enemy. His aim was sure until his sixth sense, a battle instinct honed from seven years on the Round Table, forced him to roll and forsake his aim.

"Damnit! Rusti, Clyne, somebody tell me who's on my tail!!"

Emi fely the last Bull hit the ground as her and Ajack hit it with their laser cannons.
"This is bullshit! We're getting pounded out here!'
She screamed she felt something hit her from the left side and turned to see the Raptor turn and head back for another attck, this time headed for Ajack.
"Ajack , het the hell out of here, your no match for this thing with your boosters off line."
"Emi I won't-"
"Look, you stay here and there's a good chance BOTH of us are gonna her hurt, you go now and you can come back and get me later. Just do it please?"
Before he could answer she threw the controls forwards and began to zig zag across the battle ground, pulling back on the controls she made the Fox leap right infront of the Raptor, it's jaws opening and latching onto the Raptor's face, or cokpit. She flet the Mech swing back and forth as the Raptor tried to shake her off.
"Guys, get in some hits! Now!"
She heard Axl on the com.
"We can't we'll hit her!"
Cassidy answered her.
"She knows that, she's risking it to get rid of that damn thing. Just do it. Hit the Raptor that Emi has with laser caonnons, bring it down if you can!"
Emi heard the Raptor schreech as the cannon fire hit it from all sides and felt her own mech being thrown around till she finally pulled the controls back and hit the ground on her side hard.
"Ah! Damnit!"
She moved the controls and blinked as she got nothing.
"Your shitting me!"
She listened carefully and cursed as she heard a loud crakleing noise.
"Fuckin hell! Damn wires came loose!"
She took a deep breath and unstraped her restraints and reached in her coat and pulled out a screwdriver and a wrench.
"Emi what the hell are you doing?!"
"I'm fixing this damn thing so I can get back out there!"
"It's to dangerous, stay in your mech!"
"And let you guys get pummeled and then watch as my mech gets stomped to oblivion? I think not Cassidy. It won't take me a minute, if it's anyhting like the simulator, I know exactly where to go!'
"Wait! What the hell is that?"
She looked on her vid screen to see small pods flying around the mechs, sparks coming from them.
"What the hell?"
She felt her mech respond as one buzzed away from her.
"It's the base! Hell yeah!"
She got her Mech back up and smiled as she saw Ajack do same. Professor Hastings came on the screen infront of them all.
"It's temporairy, use it well, you all have possibly a maximum of five minutes before your mechs go back into the state they were in."
Ajack nodded and she saw with a mix of excitement and pride as his boosters flashed and he was off back into the battle, she pulled the controls back and crowed loudly as she heard her favorite song come on her I-pod. She turned the volume up and tapped her foot to the beat as her fellow piolte groaned at hearing the song. Cassidy came into her helmet link.
"Can't you pick a diffrent song?"
"You know it's growing on you."
"Cotton Eyes Joe from the Rednecks? I don't think so."
"You'll live, it's my groove"
She heard Ajack and Rusti chuckle and bobbed and weaved through the mechs till she stood infront of one of the biggest mechs she had ever seen, the giant Bear mech stared down at her, then let out a deafening raor shakeing the ground and the inside of her Mech. She reached over and flipped the I-pod off.
"Fuck me..."
She dodged as it's heavy paw came down leaveing a dent in the sand bigger then her Mech and so deep her mech would be buried in it.
"Fuck me sideways..."
She looked on the screen as Desh sat on teh console and looked down at what he was sitting on.
"Line retraction? How in the seven hells is that supposed to help me Desh?"
Cassidy came on the com again.
"Who are you talking to?"
"No one!"
Think Emerald. Your not stupid. The bigger they are...
"The harder they fall."
She pulled the small lever and saw a aiming device come over her right eye, she aime for the Bears back paw as it lumbered slowly towards Axl, freing she ran in a circle four or five times till she felt the line pull tight as the giant MEch tried to take a step and roared as it fell.
"Yes! Time to dismember!'
"She launched forward and onto the giant mech useing the Fox's razor sharp teeth and claws to rip and tear away the heavy outer armor and as soon as she saw the power grid and hit it with a quick laser hit, the whole thing takeing a total of 3 minutes.
"Two minutes left..."
The bear was down, and disfunctional by quick thinking.
"Everyone use your rescue lines to bring them down and tangle them up, then tear the armor off and find the power grid!"
Cassidy came on her line again.
"Your the only one with that feature other then the air Mechs."
she nodded and turned her Fox around and ran straight for the two Lion mechs headed their way,Ajack yelling in her ear.
"Emi! Get back here! Emerald!"
She hit one Lion on the chest with the strong magnetic line and ran behind it, it was faster then the Bear so she had to use her boosters so she could get around them quickly and stepped back as the others shot and concentrated on them. The crackle that came from them was what told Emi that the job was done. She pulled the line back and ran back to the others as they lined up, the last of the Raptors across from them, the little buzzing droids flying around them giving them alittle more time. She gripped her controls tightly and waited for them to move or Cassidy's order. The air thick with tension now that everyone knew she was serious, the I-pod switched off and forgotten.

? Trysten, we?re getting rolled here!? Rusti shouted through the intercom as she jerked the Phoenix sharply to the left, avoiding a barrage of particle beams from the Pegasus. One managed to sear the right wing of the Phoenix, the top metal warping like honey. She kept veering left and finally righted herself, hovering just out of the way of the battling MechAnimas.

? Rusti, can you hear me?? Tari?s voice blared through the headset inside her helmet.
? I can hear you. I?m a little busy at the moment Tari,? Rusti replied, banking to the right as she entered the fray of mechanical beasts again.
? Your right wing has sustained minor heat damage. You won?t be able to handle many more of those attacks.?
? Right, I?ll keep that in mind.?

Rusti heard the click of the connection as she wheeled around in the Phoenix. The G-forces that pulled at her body were incredible. It made her stomach turn.

? Artek! How are you holding up??
? Sustained minor shrapnel damage to a wing.?
? Think you could handle more??
? Perhaps.?

Rusti typed on the keyboard in front of her furiously, bringing up the weapons log. She scanned through them quickly. To a normal person, it would seem she was skimming through them at a blur, but in reality, she was reading all of its contents before continuing to the next page. However, to Rusti?s disgust, it seemed that most of the major weapons weren?t online.

? They really did just give us prototypes,? she growled to herself.

? WATCH YOUR BACK!? Clyne?s voice rocked through her headset. Rusti instantly shut down the thrusters, making the Phoenix drop rapidly, thankfully dodging another particle beam.

? Oh for fuck?s sake!? Rusti swore and jammed the thrusters back on. They faulted for a moment, making Rusti?s heart skip before they came online and glided forward. She let a right-side missile unleash, hoping to God that it went for the right target this time.

Clyne watched as her missile was the only one of the three to actually hit the target, using one of the large missiles packed into the Dragon's belly. She glanced across at the other two, spinning out of formation as they broke up. Her body jerked wildly as her jets spluttered, flickering off for several seconds. Clyne shoved her engine boosters violently as they burst to life in the nick of time as the Pegasus swooped in for an attack. She barrelrolled off to the side, firing a barrage of bullets from the gattling gun that rose from the left flank of her MechAnima as the Pegasus flew past.

"Damnit! Rusti, Clyne, somebody tell me who's on my tail!!" Raven yelled.

Clyne glanced hurriedly, "It's the Sparrow!" she called, shoving her joystick to the left to avoid a sweep attack by the Pegasus.

Her eyes were the colour of almost steel as she pushed her thrusters forward, giving chase to the agile Pegasus. She growled as she brought up the information on the Dragon's weapons, only needing to glance at each page as her mind captured the image and stored it into her memory. A frown formed on her face as she realised her major attacks were still offline.

She closed it down and swerved another attack, watching as the Pegasus continued onward toward Rusti in the Phoenix.

"WATCH YOUR BACK!" she shouted, putting on a burst of speed, pulling up sharply, feeling the G-force on her body at the speed she ascended. She exhaled deeply as she pushed the control stick forward, sending her into a death spiral, gathering speed rapidly, she fought against the force as she pulled horizontal, still spinning as she fired her gattling gun, the bullets being shot forth with more force and speed in a circular pattern. She ground her teeth as her head throbbed from the g-force rotating around her but she persisted until she ran out of momentum.

Clyne stopped spinning and watched with narrowed eyes as the Pegasus flew away to hunt down Rusti, she was glad though, most of her bullets had penetrated the metal shell around the body and thrusters. She groaned as she put a hand to head which throbbed tremendously.

"Clyne, watch yourself!!" she heard Trysten roar through the intercom, she jetted her boosters and pulled back with the control stick, making the Dragon do a somersault, slamming the button to release a barrage of small missiles from the wings at the Wyvern.

Her engines began to splutter again, she swore loudly and tried to restart them as the Sparrow raced toward her, beak opening as the glow of a particle beam built up.

"Start, damn you!" she called, giving it a hefty shove with made it burst into life, throwing her out of the way as it flew past followed by Trysten in his Bat.

"Might need to keep watch for me, my engines are mucking up." she said to the others, her fingers loosening their grip on her controls.

Trysten watched helplessly as the plan fell to ashes, it would have worked against normal enemies, but these prototypes were something else. Pushing hard on the stick his MechAnima shot into a dive, a volley of bullets clipping his right wing.

"Shit! What the hell is this?" Trysten cursed as he pulled back on the joystick with no response.

Pulling harder, his heart began to race matching the speed of his dropping altitude. "Fuck, Move damnit" He muttered to himself jerking back on the controll stick repeatedly, the battle up above appearing to be getting messy.

"Trysten! What are you doing pull up! You're in a spin" Ren shouted over the intercom.

"I'm trying, the controls aren't responding" He grunted back, the G's taking there toll. Yanking back on the stick hard, his boosters shot on, powering him out of the dive "Ok dive corrected, I'm returning to battle" He replied back to Ren, taking a deep, full breath.

"Trysten, We're getting rolled on here!" Rusti called out on the com link.

"Sorry, I had some Joystick malfunctions, I'm almost back in battle position now"

Climbing higher and higher he surveyed the skys, the Pegasus was chasing down Rusti, who appeared to have slight wing damage. Clyne and Fheng had the Wyvern raising hell, while Artek was being assaulted by the Sparrow.

"Clyne, Watch yourself" Trysten blurted over the com as the Wyvern closed in from behind. She did a swift somersault dodging it's would be attack, while launching her own, though the Wyvern suffered little damage.

Turning his attention to Rusti being chased by the Pegasus he thought for a moment, "Damn we need a distraction, something to at least eliminate one threat, missles are to risky....." Trysten thought looking over his weapons, Sonic Cannon: Offline, Active Cloaking: Offline, Laser Wings: Online, Light Vulcan: Online. "No weapons really either, shit, Fuck this is risky"

"Rusti I'm gonna cut in front of you, take the Pegasus off your tail, Then just get behind it, and fire a missile on my command" Trysten explained increasing the thrust as he turned towards the two Mech's.

"You know as well as I do missiles are risky right now" She protested, her image popping up on the corner of Trysten's LCD.

"Just trust me" Trysten tried to reassure, giving a wink over the screen.

Rusti prostested firmly "But I could just as easily shoot you down"

"Thats an order" Trysten answered coldy, trying to crush anymore arguements.

"Sir" Rusti nodded over the screen, though her eyes glowed with anger.

Trysten quickly slid into place between the Pheonix and flying horse, dodging fire from a laser cannon. Rusti's Pheonix's airbraked deployed briefly as it ducked under Nocturne, and the Pegasus, pulling up swiftly behind it. Flipping on his boosters, Trysten's Mechanima lurched foward, pulling away from the pursuer.

"Fire Now!" Trysten yelled, Rusti releasing one of her underwing missiles.

Flipping around Trysten shot back towards the Pegasus, the missile just a tiny blip on radar. "Just like I thought." He thought dodging a particle beam from Pegasus, as the missile veered around the beast, heading strait for Nocturne. Narrowing in on the missle his flipped on his Vulcans, the crosshairs aligning before firing. The missile exploded in a ball of flames, Trysten flying right through the middle, shrapnell cutting into his wings.

"Laser Wings!" Trysten yelled as his wings began to glow, his display flashing damage from the explosion.

Exiting out of the smoke he flipped to his side, one of his laser charged wings slicing through one of the Pegasus's. The damaged MechAnima started to drop, forming a twisted spiral on the way down.

"Engine's down 43%, please take caution moderate damage incurred, armor damage exceding 50%" Ren read off through the com, Trysten flipping off the boosters and decreasing thrust.

Letting out a held up breath Trysten sighed, "One down guys, Lets get these bastards" He said, raising his voice over the damage alert.

"What the hell, Don't take risks like that you could have died, and.. and...." Clyne scolded over the com.

**Alright guys, enough about my damaged mech! Lets get these guys!** Ajack's voice was strong and confident.

**Cassidy, how's it looking?** Ajack walked slowly as the battle continued around him. Axl's partical beam was tearing through the enemy quite successfully...however Ajack assumed that he wasn't the only one who was having problems with his mech.

**We're almost cleared to you Ajack, all we have left are a small number of LION and RAPTOR mechs.** In his monitor Ajack saw Emi's face appear on his screen. At that moment, his heart almost burst. This woman...his friend whom he'd come to love looked more beautiful than he could have possibly imagined. Behind his sunglasses...he felt like he could cry. Before he could dwell upon her feature...the life of battle flooded his veins once again.

**Ajack! You can't keep fighting in your position, let us handle the rest** But Ajack nodded and smiled in defiance of her warning.

**You know me well enough Emi to know that I will not be a liability...not in life...and certainly not on the battlefield** Despite the strain on the left leg of the Cheetah, Ajack pressed forward in Cassidy's location...knowing that Emi was right beside hmi.

**Like we planned Sir, I'll meet you in the middle...me and Emi will take out everything in our path**

As Ajack prepared himself for another rush...his thoughts trailed to what could possibly be happening up in space with the air units.

Rusti sighed with relief inwardly as the missile distracted the Pegasus enough for Trysten to take it out. But the relief did live long. A barrage of bullets pierced the tip of her left wing as the Sparrow raced past in a blur. She felt a white hot rage run through her. The scars on her shoulders even felt the heat.

? We only have to drive them away guys. Tough it out a little longer,? Trysten?s voice came over the intercom. Rusti felt infuriated and she needed something or someone to take it out on.

? If we get back in one piece, remind me to slaughter the scientists,? she growled over the intercom but to no one in particular.

? For some reason, I?ll take that threat seriously,? Trysten replied, a tone of disapproval in his voice.

There was silence from Rusti?s end as she went after the Wyvern in a desperate attempt to drive them off. The smouldering wreckage of the ANGEL Wire station could be seen out of the corner of her eye. The intensity of the flame inside her grew.

Rusti then noticed something. The attacks from the remaining two MechAnimas were becoming less frequent, as if the loss of the Pegasus was enough for them to retreat. And that?s exactly what they were doing. Rusti made her Phoenix hover for a few moments as she watched in astonishment as the two flying MechAnimas disappeared into the darkness of space. Confusion was evident on her face, but it was clear that their enemy had been given the orders to retreat.

Clyne?s face appeared on the LCD screen to her left. ? Did anyone see what I just saw?? There was a definite tone of confusion in her voice.

? They retreated?? Artek added, stating the obvious.

? Why doesn?t it feel right for our first victory?? Rusti mumbled, her Phoenix not moving an inch from where she had made it hover.

? I don?t think it was a victory,? Trysten replied. ? More of a mutual agreement to retreat.?

Rusti sat there before Trysten ordered them to fly back to the station. As she manoeuvred the Phoenix into land, Rusti wondered how the others were doing down below, and if the same thing happened to them.

======================================================

OOC: Sorry about the crappy post guys. It?s getting late here and I have to drive home. Basically, the enemy will retreat after losing one of their MechAnimas. For the ground division, you will be taken back to the station the same way as you launched, but in reverse.

Cassidy finally managed to bring his mech to his feet again as the cloud of fog Emi had created started to clear. His mech made a horrible noise as he could hear the metal grinding together from the massive damage the raptor had done.

Ajack came over the com and the plan they had orginally planned was back on track. Each memeber of the team picking a postion to start enclosing the enemy when they spun around and darted away from them into the distance.

"Daves?" Cassidy typed away on his mech to see what little repair he could do.

"You have sustained massive damage to the upper levels of your mech, Stevens. You take any more damage like that or a direct hit from a cannon and you're done."

"Confirmed. But I don't think I'll be taking any more damage." Cassidy typed away on his key pad.

"Huh? Oh...." Daves recieved Cassidy's image-feed and fell silent.

"Any ideas?"

"Uh....no. I think....well.....you might as well head back."

"Confirmed." Cassidy switched his other com back on to be able to commiunicate with the others. "Alright Team. Head back to the pods. The authorities should be here soon to help with the civilians."

Cassidy started his mech towards the pods, every step painful. It was almost as if Cassidy himself was the one that had recieved the damage and not his mech. But he did take a nasty fall when the raptor took him down. When he made it to the pod he slowly managed to back the mech into the pod and laid him down.

"I don't think we're getting back up." Cassidy said softly as his mech finally came to a halt on the bottom of the pod. He could hear Daves grumbling in his ear as he awaited the others to enter their pods before launching himself.

"Alright Let's head back to base for now, I'm sure we'll be fine, but keep an eye out, I don't like how that encounter ended" Trysten ordered over the com, bringing his MechAnima around, heading towards the base.

The flight back was quiet, the kind of silence that annoys everyone, but no one dares break it, because everyone already knows what everyone else is thinking. As the group approached their section of ANGEL Wire, Ren's scratchy voice broke the silence for Trysten, and he assumed it was happening to the others as well.

"Welcome back Count, Congrats on completing your first mission, hell as Squad Leader too!"

"Yeah whatever, what are the landing procedures" Trysten shot back coldly, more bitter than he intended, but he was in no mood to apologize.

"Geez, I just getting to that, anyways you're cleared for Pad #4, all you have to do is land in the middle basically, after that I'll initiate the GravLock and the lift will pull you in, got it?" She explained, sighing after the end muttering something like "Damn why do I always get the all work and no play pilots"

"Yeah I got that, over and out" Trysten replied veering off toward the designated pad. Landing on it less than gracefully he felt a slight pull as the GravLock was activated, followed by the screech and scream of hydrolics as the lift began to decend.

Trysten quickly exited out of the cockpit, his body cramped and aching, but he moved quickly, only slowing to use the lift line down from his mech. Stopping once more he looked up at his battle scarred MechAnima, it's wings looked like a shredded aluminum can, shards of shrapnel protruding in some places. A small amount of bullet holes covered the lower half of the body, and apparently Trysten hadn't gotten far enough from one of the particle blasts, for the mech's underside was slighly distorted and melted looking. Turning away Trysten focused in on Professor Stian who was conferring with one of the mechanics.

Breaking away from the mechanice the Professor greeted Trysten smiling "Ah Lieutenant Charon, welcome back, congradulations on completing the mission, I wa-"

Cutting in Trysten growled "Mission complete, we were almost butchered up there, Your lucky we all came back alive, in the half complete faulty mechs you sent us out in! We lost, they chose to retreat, they could have massacred us after the damage they inflicted too"

"Yes, mission complete, your mission was to fight off the Airborn MechAnima's, Protect the Surrounding Angel Wire stations, and Drive them back to their ship, all these tasks were accomplished without loss of pilot or MechAnima, Although we suffered considerable damage, you did manage to destroy one of the captured mechsas well, so stratigicly we one the battle I would say, although those escaped MechAnima's might come back to haunt us, it's not something we can worry about at this point." Stian explained examining Trysten carefully.

"As per the faulty mech's, I must admit their are some problems that need to be corrected, I wish we could have avoided sending them out like this, but we had no choice, and we had faith in our pilots, we had no Idea the attacking mechs would be so powerful, even at 50% efficiency, though it is not a superior MechAnima that decide battle, it is the better pilot, the MechAnima just serves as a medium"

"Still it is our lives that you gamble, and it would be appreciated to know these things....Sir" Trysten said looking back to see some of the others heading towards him, he could see the logic in the action but it wouldn't be them who died if something went amiss. "Sir, I am sorry for my previous outburst and disregard for rank, I shouldn't have lost my temper, I will take disciplinary action if you wish"

"I don't think that's needed, you were just being a good Squad Leader, and I don't think anger is an issue you have, quite the opposite actually." Stian reassured as the others came within hearing distance.

OOC: I hope that is ok Redemption, I wasn't sure what to post as far as landing, and then I wanted to have a private chat with Stian, let me know if there is anything to change via PM. Oh and sorry it's such a sucky post.

Emi slowly had her Mech back into the pod and felt it jerk as it thrusted back into the air up to the base. She sat back and relaxed as the pod flew to the base and retreated back into her mind to replay the battle over in her mind and decided that it could have been better, or for that matter, worse. She put her arms behind her head and leaned back into the seat and closed her eyes sighing. She opened one eye as Desh spoke to her.
'You did well Emerald.'
She nodded and smiled, she was slightly hyper from the adrenaline and just let the feeling of the ride relax her. She looked out the sight window of her Mech moments later to see light coming into the Pod, she was back. Backing the mech out of the pod she, as she called it, parked it and jumped out as the hiss of hydrolics filled the hanger as the mech rested and shut down.
"Whoo! We kicked some serious ass out there baby!"
"You also did some major damage to the mech you were in as well Blade."
She spun around to see the master cheif looking over her mech.
"Ah, if there ain't no damage then that means I didn't do nothing."
She walked over to the stand that had coffe and other beverages on it, she picked up a cup and filled it with plain black coffe, Trysten looked at her and rolled his eyes.
"Just what you need Emi, caffine."
"You bet."
She sent him a friendly wink and laughed lightly as she saw the pod that held Ajack's mech in it and smiled wider.
"And prince charming arrives."
"Shove it in your pie hole crankster."
He shook his head and chuckled and she poured Ajack a cup of coffe and doctored a bit and started towards Ajack's mech.

The mechs before Axl just retreated; she just sat there under cover with a large group of civilians.

?Well that was?strange.? She slumped back into her chair and put her hands behind her head.

?Axl do you read?? her static observer sounded rather pissed at her or ?perhaps at something else, but either way?... her thoughts were directed to Cassidy as his mech stumbled into view towards the pods.

?Axl!? her observer shouted rather angrily.

?What!?? She shouted back.

?Return to the pods.? He grumbled and then cut communications, ?what?s up his ass? she thought. But she already knew the answer; she had directly disobeyed orders not to fire her cannon. It wasn?t finished yet not to mention she fired it recklessly close to a team mate when specifically ordered not to do so, actually specifically ordered not to charge the cannon in the first place.

?Boy I am going to be in for it?? she griped her controls and began heading out from behind cover.

?Did that feel good?? her spider-like friend questioned crawling out from behind one of her LCD screens, Axl just rolled her eyes and shook her head.

?Come back later when I?ve been thrown in the brig for disobeying orders.? She spoke dead pan.

?You don?t think others will come to your defence?? Ra questioned as he scampered across the screens and into her keyboards.

Axl didn?t reply and walked her mech back into her pod, the door slammed shut as its jet engines kicked in and she was whizzed back up to the station.

Axl didn?t get out of the cockpit; she sat there waiting for the people to come to her. She typed furiously over her key boards bringing the mechs external cameras on line, her six LCD screens displayed a group of 3 people moving closer to her mech. In the centre of the group stood a rather gruff looking man flanked on either side buy two uniform officers. Axl used her most powerful camera usually reserved for sniping to zoom in on the man?s chest; his name tag was now displayed on her largest screen.

?Well, well, greetings Static Observer Second Lieutenant John Worth.? Axl shifted in her seat as they got closer, she exited her mech via its lift and stood leaning on one of its large claws waiting for the party to arrive.

?Axl I need you to follow me.? John spoke; he was rather tall with sharp blue eyes. The officers standing next to him remained emotionless, like statues.

?Lead the way.? Her observer didn?t say a word as Axl was taken past her team mates and walked to the base CO?s office and left out side. It reminded her of school when students were bad and asked to go see the principal, eventually she was called in and asked to sit down.

?Finally...? Axl breathed as she exited the CO?s office. Personnel gave her questioning looks as they walked past and whispered to each other. Axl rolled her eyed at them; they looked away as if they weren?t doing anything, not expecting that reaction from her.

She sighed as she made her way back towards the primary hangar to her mech and the other pilots. Passing Trysten she gave an acknowledging look towards him.

?I saw that, what?s the problem?? he motioned back down the hallway to where Axl had exited.

?That would be telling.? She smiled and kept walking back towards her Scorpion.

OOC: Sorry about the delay.

" All MechAnima pilots to the strategy room, IMMEDIATELY!!" Air Marshall Hagan roared over the overhead speaker system. Rusti's head swivelled around to the source of the irritated voice. What was it now? They had just returned from a near-kamikaze mission with severely damaged MechAnimas and he sounded like he was going to scold them like small children. Inside of her, a feral growl resonated.

Turning on her heal, Rusti left her heavily-scarred Phoenix behind in the hanger and trudged up to the strategy room, trying to take as long as she could to prolong the silence before the storm. Behind her, footsteps echoed loudly in the hallway. She paused and looked around behind her. Clyne and Trysten walked passed her, giving her a weak smile. They looked as grave as Rusti. She had heard Trysten's enraged outburst, aimed at Professor Stian. Rusti just hoped there wouldn't be severe repercussions for his rash actions. After them came Artek. Rusti chuckled as she continued walking after seeing the expression on the young man's face. Did he ever change?

The air division finally came to the strategy room, hearing muffled voices from inside. They all took a deep breath before walking inside, greeting theirs friends - the ground division as they entered. Air Marshall Hagan stood formidably in the front of the chairs, his thick muscular arms crossed in front of his broad chest. Rusti sat down, looking up at her commanding officer with an unimpressed look. He cleared his throat, calling for silence.

" Now..." he started, his eyes glowing darkly. " Firstly, I would like to congratulate you on the completion of your first mission."

There were unenthusiastic murmurs between the members of the divisions.

" Secondly, I have the damage reports and battle statistics from the mission." He handed each of the pilots a small folder full of paper. Rusti sighed. More paperwork.

" Lastly, it has come to my attention that some of you have already made yourselves well known around the station. Does the party ring a bell?" The Air Marshal's voice was full of spite and annoyance. His gaze was firmly fixed on Ajack.

" You may be the newest recruits to ANGEL Wire but that doesn't excuse your actions at the party, no matter what the cause was." The last comment was aimed at Clyne and Rusti who were going to tell him their protests.

" Disciplinary action will now be enforced. Lieuntenants Masters, Balde, Stevens, Geiger and Charon, you are being assigned to cleaning duties for seven days, starting from today. You will be cleaning the halls in the early morning and late evening, and at meal times, you are to be in the kitchen, washing dishes. Do you understand?"

There was a murmured reply of agreement before they were dismissed. All of them were silent as they trudged back to their quarters, their reports and punishments in hand. Rusti opened the door to the female dormitory and threw her report on her bed, leaving it for later. She made her way into the common room and searched the fridge for something alcoholic. After finding a bottle of vodka, she found a shot glass and sat down at the table. Poruing herself a drink, she stared at it for a few minutes before downing it.

Rusti slumped back in the chair and stared up at the ceiling. A fluttering sound alerted her to her invisible friend's appearance.

Tough battle?
Kamikaze material.
Drinking yourself into misery?
No... just having one to relax.
What about the whole incident with Cassidy?

Rusti's mind flickered to the necklace he gave her. She sighed heavily. That'll have to wait. I have a MechAnima to repair.
