So! Onto the graphic that you need to use. Click here.

I hate you now. You know I don't like working with anime pictures, especially if they have JPEG artifact *glare*.

No hidden message to this one. Just something made quickly to post something. I had no idea who the gaaratt guy was, I have no idea what his personality is, his style or whatever, so I just made this. The marks just say Gaaratt repeatedly by lack of words.

Blah.

Edit: Doh, I've been stupid, filling in the name incorrectly. >.<; *goes to edit*

Edit2: I think I changed the words in the asian, but I forgot into what. <<;

Edit3: I R Cheatah, I R used a grA boreder.

Edit4: The first one to say that I used brushes, gets a smack.

Edit5: Okay, I was forced to change this thing to fit Gaara. I hopefully did. But I now don't like the background anymore. -.-

Aaw, I was about to start Guild Warring and I remembered I had this to do. Phooey.

Well, mine's a little crappy. Sorry, Boo, for not putting up a good enough fight. I'm really lacking in inspiration lately, hence the rather boring abstract theme.

[STRIKE]If we weren't allowed to change the image colours, then I have another piece. Lemme know if I need to change.[/STRIKE]

I thought it was only the opacity we couldn't change. ): Fixed now.

[strike]Since one of my faithful judges has managed to disappear from the face of OB, I need to fine a new one before I can announce the winner. Sit tight![/strike]

EDIT: Instead of begging for people to be a judge, I'm just going to open this Round to the entire OtakuBoards community. Vote away, kids.

No two entries this round contrast each other more than what you guys submitted. This should make for an interesting battle. Mmm hmm.

Your piece reminds me of lightplay on black opals. Even with all those colors and grungy textures, you managed to make the background look vitreous. That's a pretty rad effect; do put up a tutorial about it. *heart*

[strike]With such a vibrant background, the dull colors in the foreground look somewhat off. Perhaps messing around with the levels will fix this, yeah?[/strike] On second thought, keep it. Soft colors are good for the eyes.

Ezekiel
Done in a style that is distinctly yours. I like the font you used for "Sabaku no Gaara". That you were able to keep it from disappearing into the background despite the font color is another plus point.

The extraction could use some improvement but it's something only anal-retentive people like me rant about.

My, my. I can't choose between my favorites: Gmv, both of you.

Why'd you bother with such a long post if you're not going to vote? lol.

Boo: There's alot I like about this, first and foremost the background. The colors and shapes that are present are pretty amazing. I wish the design was a bit more behind Gaara so that it looked as if it was is aura; as it is, it's sort of awkward/random. I initially didn't like the white outline, but it's grown on me a bit. However, I think there's a better way to distinguish him from the background (maybe moving the colors behind him was the way). Anyway, the thing I don't like at all is the character just hanging out in the middle of things, on the top, disturbing the simple and interesting composition. It strikes me as an afterthought, and I really can't stand it.

Ezekiel: Simply amazing job, Jay. The background is perfect and fits Gaara well, as is the top text (both font and placement). However, it bugs me a bit that Gaara's extraction is poor and evidently so. It also seems you couldn't make your mind up about the glow/stroke around Gaara (near his leg is thin, while near his head is thick). The text at the bottom is well positioned and a great font. However, the red really kills it and literally destroys the "k" in "darkness".

In the end, very close batter. I vote for Ezekiel. Great job both you.

Hmmm while I know next to nothing about graphics, or doing anything artistic other than writing on a computer (I've wanted to learn, haven't had the computer or software for it though, maybe soon since I'm getting a notebook). I do understand art though, and since it looks like there is a need of judges I'll post.

Boo-

The first thing that stands out in this picture, as stated before is the backround. It is amazing, it draws your eye into the picture and really makes you look at it, it give the eye a good flow around the page. Like Retri said the white outline seems alittle off, and the character seems out of place. As far as the character goes I think that the shadow throws the character off, making it seem out of place, as well as it just being plain, I think a little detail to it would have made it mesh better with the picture. It is still a beautiful piece none the less, I probably wouldn't have even noticed some of it if Retri's post hadn't make me look closer.

Ezekiel-

Another amazing backround, I like the colors you used because they really fit Garra's character. The brighter yellow really pulls your eye to Garra, while one of the last things I notice is the bloody looking splotch. I think that it's important that Garra is one of the first thing your eye is drawn to since he is the subject of the picture. Though he looks as if someone turned the Sharp and Contrast up on a TV, which takes away from the depth of the picture. I love the font you used for his name, as well as making is stand out amongst the red, something similar would have been nice for the text at the bottom. Another great piece, I am jealous, I really do wish I could make stuff like this.

Anywho my vote goes to Ezekiel, I think that his piece blended together better, as well as being more fitting for Garra's character. Sorry White if I sounded like a complete idiot, lol it might be the case as well.

r2vq was able to do this in my round, so I will too. It's part of my laziness.

Boo

I'm lovin' the whole "reverse opal" thing going on in the background. I've never seen anything like that before. It's just flippin' awesome.

Even though you don't know what's going on with Gaara, I think you captured his whole "mystery/angst" element. The black really offsets the bright colors of the reverse opal.

I like the kanji. =)

There's something about the piece that kinda turns me off. Maybe it's the pixely aspect of the stock image. But that's Larb's fault, not yours. *shot*
Ezzy (Sorry, that name's there forever)

Your piece is pure awesomeness. The whole red-orange-yellow sandblast-thing in the background reminds me of desert storms.

I recongnize the top font, but I can't put my finger on it. Love it for Gaara's name, though.

The fade from black to the warm colors is also very cool. (Sorry, currently braindead.)

With the cool of the warm colors also comes the fact that I would think he's a fire ninja, as opposed to a sand ninja.

The bottom text is bothering the crap out of me. The uneveness makes me raise an eyebrow, since the rest of the piece is so well executed.
My vote goes for Boo. Poor guy doesn't even have a vote for himself yet. >.>

Boo: What I like best about your piece is the dark background with the sharp contrast from the abstract colors. I also like the japanese character and how you shadowed it. Very nicely done. The thing I don?t care for is the glow around Gaara as it?s distracting from the overall dark feel to the piece.

Ezekiel: What I like best about your piece is the wonderful background. It?s got a nice messy abstract feel to it and it goes with Gaara really well. What I don?t care for is the color of the font at the top or the bottom. Although the one at the bottom shows up well it just seems out of place instead of blending and the one at the top, the color almost fades into the picture a little.

Excellent work both of you. In the end my vote goes to Boo.

Since the round ended in a tie, I've decided who will move on and after a lot of thinking it through (this was tough, guys ;__;) I declare Boo the winner.
