Aaryanna
I?m sure I?m not the only one who likes to visit the mall or a store just to look at things. I got to thinking about this since over the weekend SunfallE accidentally broke the food dish for my dog when she knocked something off of the counter onto it. So she took me to Pier One Imports since she knows I love that store to get a new dish for my dog. Even though picking out a new food dish only took a few minutes we then spent close to an hour checking out all the stuff in the store from the furniture, to the dishes to the candles and so on. ^_^ It was great fun! So how many of you go Window Shopping? And if you do what are your favorite types of places to go? For me I love places with lots of fun and different knickknacks like Pier One Imports. I also love to go to bookstores like Borders and just browse through all the new book releases. ^_^ I often take a small notepad with me so I can write down the names of books and authors so I can check the book out the next time I go to the library. And since the Borders here encourages you to sit and leaf through a book if you wish, sometimes I?ll spend a little time checking out the manga?s since they don?t take very long to read. I?ll often check out the first book in a series to see if it?s something I would enjoy. I don?t get to Window Shop very often, but when I do it?s always a lot of fun. Also if you do go is it something you do with your family or with your friends? I often go with both Mariskah and SunfallE to check out a store and sometimes it?s my Mom who takes me. When it?s Mariskah and me we go to the Hallmark store and check out all the cute Christmas ornaments. ^_^ When it?s my Mom we will go to a place like Bath and Body Works and check out all the lotions and soaps. That one?s always fun since they have so many wonderful smelling lotions and stuff.
2010DigitalBoy
My only mode of transportation is through my parents, and they wont go anywhere unless they have money. When they do go somewhere, I always jumo on the bandwagon. I like knowing what new stuff has come out, and its always important to make sure your local retailers have the newest volume of your collection. visualkei
I think that I'm not much of a window shopper, unless I am incredibly bored and don't want to go home, or I haven't been "shopping" for a month. When I'm alone window shopping, I can take my sweet time. I don't know if this applies as window shopping, but when I plan to stop by a library to drop off something or pick up a specific book, I tend to stay a lot longer. I just want to look at every book, and I always think of other books and subjects I want to look deeper into. =] Besides just looking at every item, is there anybody here who's addicted to shopping?
sakurasuka
I can't window shop. I want to buy it all. I have no self-control. No self control + No money = Bad idea. I can't take my debit card anywhere or else I'm tempted. =/
Horendithas
I can't window shop. I want to buy it all. I have no self-control.
You sound like me. I have the same problem, it?s fun but I always end up wanting something that I really don?t need or can?t afford. So I keep my window-shopping down to avoid the temptation. The one thing I do like to do though is when ever I visit my parents my mom and I will spend the day checking out shops, going out to lunch, getting our hair done, etc. We sort of make a day out of it. Though I?m not sure if you can call it window-shopping as we usually each have a certain amount of money that we bring just so we can pick up that one thing we want. I know what you are getting at though Aaryanna, even if all you do is go awwww over how cute things are; it?s fun to go with someone you know and check things out. Sometimes if I do go with friends I make a point to leave my money at home so even if I am tempted I can?t get anything. Then when I get home and do have my money, my self-control is easier to maintain as the tempting item is not before me sitting pretty on a shelf singing buy me! ;)
Ellerby
All my window shopping is done at Nintendo.com. :glasses: But if I'm not actually looking to buy a game (which is like... never since there's always some sort of game or console I want) I'm looking around the pet store. Seeing those fluffy orange kittens in the window.. ;__; But I have a cat at home, no need for two. So, yeah, other than that I basically only visit the mall to buy music and clothes and I never window shop for those things (though it is nice to look at expensive plasma TV's...).
Andy
Hmmm....well I guess you could say I "window" shop. Although I wouldn't consider walking around Gamestop and being clumsy and knocking things over and everyone staring and......anyways, I don't think I would consider that window shopping. Since i'm not looking through a window at the games, so i'll let you decided whether or not thats window shopping. But thats about the only kinda've window shopping I do, go to Wal-mart and look in the electronics section, go to Gamestop or any other local video game store and loafer around viewing anything that interests me. So, like I said, thats about all the window shopping I do, if you want to consider it that. So, the question of whether or not I window shop is pretty much unknown to me.
Panda
I love window shopping! I don't have to buy anything, just looking is fine for me. It really doesn't matter where I am I will be perfectly content being a lookie-loo. Home Depot, Wal-Mart, the mall...car lots...it doesn't matter, it's all good in my book. Now if you would have asked me this question a decade or two ago it would be a different story. I use to love to buy stuff but as I got older and ended up with responsiblities (mortgage, insurance, misc. bills) my paychecks went to those instead of CDs and designer clothing. I really don't miss it and found that just looking at stuff is fine.
Mimmsicle
I'm pretty sure many will agree with me when I state that the ultimate of places to go window shopping in are Book stores. The creative energy that is set loose in there makes up for any lack of purchases. Even office material is fun to have a look at! Stores with household stuff are also fun to browse in because you don't feel any pressure to buy anything in there, like you might in other stores. While cups and saucepans don't get everyone excited, they'll often have some nice decorative pieces to admire (Like big Swedish Fish!). I've always been oddly attracted to hardware stores. Despite that, my dad never got me a tool box like he did my siblings.... But that's ok, since I got my own! A place that combines pretty much all of the above, for me, is IKEA. Though it's near impossible to stick with window shopping there, with so many different lovely things to buy :animestun
Mariskah
I love to window shop. Especially Barbie dolls since I collect them. Though I?ll go to any shop with pretty much any type of doll. I absolutely adore Barbie?s website and I?m always checking it to see if there are any new dolls coming out. I even look at the stuff that?s coming out but not to the US so I can hunt for it on Ebay if I do decide to get it. I?ve enjoyed looking at dolls since I was a little girl. It?s kind of funny since I tend to drive my family and friends a little nuts as I can easily spend hours checking out gift shops and such when they are in and out in a few minutes. What can I say? I like looking at all the pretty things! ^_~
Pumpkin
I do admit I like to window shop. Mostly because all I'm doing right now is working to save up my money. I really have to look at prices now instead of endlessly spending my money, its really tempting though. I mostly don't do it because I get the earge to buy and honestly I can't afford to spend my savings right now. Occasionally though, I love going to the Mac make up counters and looking at what's new. They always sucker me into buying something there though with compliments, but I love their eyeshadow colors and lipgloss (I just bought one that makes your lips tingle, its neat). I also love to go to the mall and look at stores such as bebe sport, wet seal, anchor blue, bloom, lola's and all those little retail stores that I love so much. Now that I'm older and more confident, I feel pretty much comfortable wearing almost anything so I love to go try on clothes. I also do have a secret passion for books, and occasionally you can find me wandering inside of Barnes & Nobles or Borders. That's pretty much it. Did I mention I love shoes? Yes looking at all the high heels and sandles is a fun thing too.
SunfallE
Ah yes window shopping. It?s great fun provided you leave all your money at home so you aren?t tempted to buy what you either don?t need or really can?t afford. ^_~ My favorite thing to do is to go shopping on the days after thanksgiving. I tend to get my Christmas shopping done early so it?s great fun to go as they have all sorts of fun specials and when you don?t need gifts its fun since there is no pressure to find a good bargain. I almost always take a little money so if I do find a great item I can get it. And since I usually go with a friend we usually get some lunch while we are out and we visit and catch up on how things are going. I usually go both days with someone and it?s always a lot of fun in spite of the huge crowds of people. I also like to do the same thing the days right after Christmas when they have all of the clearance sales. Some of the best bargains can be found on those days. Retribution
Oftentimes, when I recieve a fair sum of money, I go to mall and 'window shop.' But this is a depressing and self-defeating practice, as I quickly realize that the money I just got is never enough for what I want. So in short, bringing money with me ends up being more a curse than anything. I feel frustrated and annoyed, thinking "If only I had ten dollars more..." But it's even more frustrating when you're strolling along and you see something you covet. For me, it's a MacBook, and I die everytime I pass the Apple Store at my mall. I get this gripping feeling of jealousy, envy, and in the end, frustration that I don't have enough for one. In conclusion, window shopping brings only pain.
Sangome
I window shop alot...maybe too much. Many times it's unintentional -- I'll actually HAVE money and I won't buy anything, but just wind up staring...staring... But, let's narrow it down to my favorite window-shopping places.

GameStop and EB, same reasons as Wal-Mart
Hot Topic, the place is just awesome. 'Nuff said. that and the stuff there is expensive too.
Barnes & Noble, oh my. There is nothing, NOTHING like going in there, buying a good frappuchino from the in-store Starbucks (at least...ours has one), getting a manga that you can't afford, sitting down (if there's a seat available, if not then I just sit against a shelf xP) and read. Ahh. Great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Best Buy, this place is awesome beyond words. Big screen TVs, DVDs, games...yeah. The place to be wmen Barnes gets too quiet. Or vice-versa.
Yeah, that's it. x3 And malls too, but more on that later.
