Ezekiel
So, I've already milked this for all it's worth on devART, but it's my most successful picture evar, so I'm going to be a whore and post it here, too. Yay. I realised/learnt some things whilst making this picture: -I cannot draw sakura trees. -Corel Painter Essentials is abso-friggin-lutely amazing. -With this program, mistakes actually look good. This picture makes me happy, so excuse the sudden rush of ego. [link] Click on the picture to make it go to 'full view', plz. Comments and crit are loved (But be nice ]: ) Also, I've been drawing characters from a Bleach fic that Trevor and I are doing lately...and the swords are killing me. If anyone knows how to draw swords in perspective, or knows a book/tutorial that could tell me, please share? I need desperate help.
eleanor
*is wondering why no one has replied* Great job! The proportion and style with which you drew Byakuya are ace. He looks like he's drawn Bleach-style, which is just a habit of mine to comment on. Usually I don't like it when people draw fanart in their own style. The only peeve (a very small one at that) is that the lineart itself is a bit shaky at times. Though that can be fixed by simple inking techniques and such. The coloring is technically great, but more contrast would make it look better*. As for the background, I don't the style of the tree matches with everything else you did. It looks too airbrush-y, but background improve with practice, I guess. *I feel lame preaching this, because I still don't have the hang of coloring well. >_> And on the weapons thing... I know that the How to Draw Manga series has books on perspective and fighting/poses, but I haven't heard/seen of any weapons tutorials. My advice is that tutorials can only do so much. Look around for base images from any manga that revolved around action and practice, practice, practice. :]
visualkei
I like the expression on his face, I didn't noticed much about the tree until Lunox pointed it out. Actually I think it's cool to use different styles on one piece and even be inconsistent. I have to add, though, that his hair is blowing in one direction, but it seems like the tree is blowing the other way.
Ezekiel
I have to add, though, that his hair is blowing in one direction, but it seems like the tree is blowing the other way.
You know, I realised that after I'd drawn it. It was a facepalm moment, that's for sure. ^_^; It's the first picture I've done with a proper background, so my mind isn't quite working well with those yet. Thanks you both for the kind comments, I'll definately take them both to heart~.
jigglyness
oh wow. I haven't really seen a byakuya drawn like this before. Usually they do it in some other style. I really like it. Although I think that the hairline might a little too forward which kind of makes his head look scrunched a little. But I absolutely love how you did the hair. as you have pointed out that you weren't great with sakura tress, I have to say it looks a little funky. But it's a good attempt. I personally think it's really hard to draw sakura trees freehanded so I can't imagine how hard it much be on coral painter. I bow down to you in all of your awesomeness. >.<
Nomurah!
Well, I'm still pretty angry at Bya-kun for making Ichigo-kun hurt! XD But onto the art regardless of the character.. :animeswea In Bleach, you will notice that their eyes are usually bigger, 'tis a trait of the Kuchiki family (and big heads =P) The eyes are squinty, but he does look exactly like Kuchiki Byakuya. His expression is sad, and it comes to me that Bya-kun is one of those guys that hides his feelings, let's say...like Sasuke from Naruto. Though he is sometimes a jerk, he understands sadness, and beauty. And, the pic really brings that out. The sakura tree, looks quite skinny, and I've always thought of them to be big and full of pink on many branches. Of course, that's just what I see when I think of them, they don't always look like that. And oh gawd, here I go. COLOURING!!! XDDD Whoohoo! You do a really great job, Zeke! The colouring looks very beautiful! The shading is so professional Anime like. Hell, I bet you could probably work in a studio one of these days, working on a famous Anime, and I'd be sitting in my living room, eating Cheetos and become a fan-nerd of the show, just because of the artwork and colouring. ^_____^ I did find ONE small problem. Kuchiki's hair is pointy. In the pic, it is blowing in the wind...can't really see his hair blowing in the wind O__o, though that's just me. Anywho. Great Job, if you don't mind, I'm gonna take your dignity and give you a rating! XD 99 out of ten. -Nom EDIT: Haha..L.ook! At her banner! His hair is blowing in the wind! XDD Nevermind bout that one part about the "I couldn't imagine his hair blowing in the wind." XDD
Perfection
Jamie; my dear...I can honestly say that you have surpassed yourself by a bucket load (comment: I couldn't think of something bigger to say, perhaps a boat...aye). Yes, remembering back to when I saw your drawings and colourings of Imric I was amazed; but this is amazing. I think you've gotten the colours just right; and Byakuya's little "I look all depressed but I'll still kill you" look is just spot on. And need I go onto the colouring, it really is astounding, you've gotten the shading (in my opinion) perfect and it really does look like it's came straight out of the anime. So once again I'll say; you've hit the nail right on the head for this picture. Congrats. And I hope to see more Bleach fanart m'dear. P.S. Byakuya is my favourite so I particularly love this. =]
