?Piss off!? Cody yelled as he slammed the screen door on his dad. Bolting for the hedges, he was in mid-jump when he heard the door kicked open from somewhere behind him. It didn?t matter though ? Cody was long gone before his drunken, dead-beat of a dad could get another word in edge-wise. It was around three in the afternoon, and Cody?s father could easily have tracked him down in the car, but Cody knew he wouldn?t come ? he never came. Kicking a couple of stones under-foot, Cody swore out loud for no apparent reason at all, and then continued walking. It had been one of those days?

Cody pushed the memories of the fight at school out of his mind and focused on his feet bellow. Within a few minutes, he arrived at his good friend Cornelius? house (or as everyone called him, Coco). He slammed his fist against the door a few times, and then, feeling a slight chill in the air, pulled his leather jacked tighter around him. A boy, roughly his age with dirty blonde hair opened the door after a few moments.

?Coco, dude?? Cody began slowly. ?We gotta talk??

?Is it about what I think it is?? Coco replied, with a worried tone in his voice. Cody had known Coco for roughly eight years. Throughout that time, Cody had barely ever seen him nervous before ? Coco was a true leader through and through.

?Yeah man? this shit is getting out of control?? Cody answered, the chill in the air increasing. ?Mind if I come in for a bit??

?Sure, come on in?? Coco stepped out of the way, and Cody walked through the doorway.

"Uh.. okay," Cody began, his voice stuttering a bit. "I know this is going to sound crazy but.."

"You can make a flashlight too?!" Coco interupted. Cody stepped back a little bit and gave Coco the weirdest look he had ever given anyone. Coco slumped into the chair behind him and sighed.

"Turn off the lights." he said to Cody. Cody flipped the switch and looked around. All of the sudden a light flickered on from where Coco was. Cody shrugged.

"Wow. You can turn on a flashlight." he remarked. But his words slowed at the end when he realized what the source of the light was.

"Is that..."

"My finger? Yeah."

"Shine it on me." Coco complied and was shocked when Cody's shadow began to move, where Cody wasn't.

"..what does this mean?" The doorbell rang.

"Shit! Turn the light on!" Coco curled his hand into a fist and stood up straight while Cody turned the light on. They both gave eachother quick "keep it secret" looks and walked casually towards the door. It was Liam.

Liam heard some nose from inside Coco's house, and what sounded like frantic scurrying.
"What is that kid doing now?" Liam thought to himself. He'd known Coco for about three years now through Cody, who he felt the responsibility to look after when ever his father would have one of his days. There were quite a lot of those days, so Cody was over at his house most of the time. If not, he'd with out a doubt be over here at Coco's.

"Hey Liam," Coco said as he opened the door. Something was different about him. He was obviously hiding something. Coco was never good at telling a lie, but he never actually told a lie, he just wouldn?t tell the truth. It didn't matter anyways, there was something more important at hand.

"Hey dude. Have you seen -" Stepping inside the house Liam spotted Cody standing in the living room.
"There you are you little shit!" Liam rushed towards Cody, pushing Coco out of the way.
"What the hell did you do to set him off this time!?" Liam had Cody pinned up to the wall.
"He comes barging into my house, yelling at me for something you did. He keeps saying I?m being a bad influence or something like that. I tell him I have no idea what he's talking about, and then he trashes my stereo! That?s a four hundred dollar stereo Cody!"

"Dude I'm sorry but it wasn't my fault."

"Well you or your old man owes me four hundred dollars for the stereo and another fifty for the trauma and emotional damage I've suffered." There was a pause, he could see Cody was waiting to see if Liam was joking, but then they both had a laugh and he let Cody go. Liam wasn't too serious, about things of that nature. He knew that when Cody got the chance he would find a way to make it right somehow.

"So what were you guys up to before I got here? I heard some runnin' around, are you guys holding out on me? Cause' seriously, if you have a cold one I could really use it right now." Liam noticed that Coco hadn't said anything this whole time and was standing off in the corner of the room. Even when he was in a dark room it still looked like he was glowing of something. "Must be the light." Liam thought to himself. But then, looking down at Coco's hand, he saw that it was clenched in a tight fist.

"Dude Coco, your hand's glowing." Only after he said it, did the words sink in.

?Dude, Coco, your hand?s glowing.? Cody knew the words were coming from the second Liam had made his ?entrance? into Coco?s house. Without hesitating, Cody leapt up from the ground where Liam had had him pinned, grabbed Liam and threw him further into Coco?s house. He quickly ran over to the door and slammed it shut, hoping no one had actually seen anything that had just taken place.

?Dude, what the ??

?Shut up!? Cody interrupted Liam quickly with a loud, assertive voice he didn?t know he possessed. For the most part, Cody was soft-spoken and could be quiet at times. However, when the going got rough, Cody was able to tap into a hidden storage of anger that made him stronger.

?Seriously guys, what the hell?s going on here!?? Liam now seemed worried ? his jovial, friendly manner seemingly of the past now. well how the hell is he supposed to seem!? Cody thought to himself. He just saw Coco?s friggen finger glowing!

When Cody had been shown Coco?s glowing finger only a few minutes prior, he had felt the exact same surprise that Liam was now feeling. Running a hand through his long, brown hair, Cody looked back over at Liam who was now sitting on one of Coco?s leather couches.

?Alright dude, we?ll tell you what we know, but you gotta promise not to freak out or anything...? Cody?s quiet nature had kicked back in. ?However, you may want one of these first?? Cody reached under a large recliner and pulled out a six-pack. He pulled out a beer and tossed it to Liam, and after getting a nod from Coco, took another out and threw it over to him too. Pulling a third one out, he pried the cap off and slumped into the chair. Taking a quick drink, he whipped his lips with the back of his hand and tried to find the words to explain exactly what was going on.

What is going on? He thought to himself again. Why do the shadows move when I want them to? Am I some sort of freak or something?

The airport was bustling with people as Rorita and her parents stepped into the arrivals terminal. They had just one luggage with them, because they only came to the city for shopping - that's what her mother liked to do best.

Rorita looked at her mother, who was practically beaming from the thought of getting into the haut-couture boutiques of the city. She had Japanese origins, but was quite tall for an Asian person. She was nearing her forties, but looked half her age - mainly thanks to the many cosmetic surgeries she had underwent. She had a constant smile on her botox-enhanced lips, a relic from her days as a supermodel.

"Darling, I wonder where the chaffeur is?" Rorita's mother asked her father. "He was supposed to wait for us here!"

Rorita turned to look at her father, an impressive, tall man with a greying dark hair and a million dollar grin. His greatgrandparents had come from France to start up a business, and it was now on his hands. Rorita had to admit it: their family was filthy rich. Her father was a landowner in South Carolina. He owned golf-clubs, fields, forests, holiday resorts in the Appalachies... He was often called "Donald Trump of the South". His father's money enabled for the whole family to go spend some "quality time" by shopping in a huge city such as this. Besides that and an occasional vacation in a beach resort, that's all they ever did together.

"Don't worry, mabelle, he is probably outside smoking. Let's go and take a look. Rorita, you stay right here and watch the luggage, we will only be away for a second. Understood?"

"Aye, sir!" Rorita huffed scornfully, squinting her eyes. Her father just ignored her. That's what he always seemed to do, these days - and her mother too. She felt as if she was just an extra burden on their shoulders.

Sure, Rorita was quick to lose her temper, and had said some awful things to her parents, but they didn't realize that it was just a desperate attempt to get their attention!

A single tear dropped from the corner of her eye and fell into the floor, between two tiles.

To her horror Rorita saw a delicate, blue flower sprouting speedily from between the tiles. She quickly glanced around if anybody had noticed.

This had happened before, but until now, it had only been during her solitary trips to the nearby forest back home. There she was alone in peace, just deep calm surrounding her.

She knelt down, and put her hand over the flower. As fast as it had grown it began to wither until there was no trace of it left.

"Rorita, what are you doing? Get up there, the floor is filthy!"

It was her mother's nasal voice. She got up, and saw her parents arriving with the middle-aged, bored-looking chauffeur.

"Hurry up now, gal, the limousine is waiting outside!" her father ushered her.

At that moment, Rorita decided she wouldn't take the crap her parents were feeding her much longer. She was going to escape!

"Alright," started Coco who had just finished his drink. "My hand just recently started glowing every once in a while and sometimes shadows around Cody move when the shadow's object isn't. There. I said it." he explained.

Liam gave them a look of uncertainty until something clicked in his head. His eyes widened and he grabbed Cody by the shoulders, shaking him.

"You guys too?!"

"...what?" said a baffled Cody. Liam stepped back and let go of his friend, sinking into the couch nearby. Liam pulled out a lighter and switched it on. He grabbed a tissue from the Kleenex box beside him and dipped it into the flame. Putting the light away afterwards. To Coco and Cody's amazement, the fire on the tissue just stayed in one place, not spreading at all. Eventually the flame died out.

Nobody said anything for a few seconds.

"Where'd you get those tissues?!" Cody asked Coco jokingly. After all three guys laughed, Cody put his serious face on.

"Really, though," he said. "I think it's obvious what's going on here. ...aliens." Just then, one of the windows nearby swung open and a strong a strong gust of wind flowed through the open hole. As if the wind itself was whispering in their ears, each boy heard the same thing.

Rorita walked behind her parents as they exited the terminal, all the while contemplating how to make her grand escape. She certainly didn't want to spend another boring weekend running from boutique to boutique after her mother while her father was meeting his own friends who knows where.

"Talk about quality time together..." she snorted.

As she stepped through the sliding doors, she suddenly got separated from her parents by a long line of schoolkids, apparently on a field trip.

"Stay close to me!" their teacher, a grey-haired old woman shouted. "We seem to have arrived to the wrong terminal, so there's some more walking until we reach the Departures. Take a good care of your pair in the line, children!"

Rorita noticed that a miserable-looking girl with glasses was walking all alone at the end of the line of pairs. Without a moment's hesitation, Rorita tagged up with her.

"So, you have no pair, huh?" Rorita asked casually. The glass-eyed girl, a bit younger than herself, was dumbfounded of her sudden appearance. "Don't worry, gal, I'll keep you company!"

"Really?" the other girl whispered. "Will you be my pair?"

"Sure!" Rorita said, faking a friendly smile. She glanced over her shoulder, and saw her parents arguing with the chaffeur over something. Soon she would be out of their sight...

"Are you one of my imaginary friends?" the schoolgirl asked. "I have a lot of those, I can't exactly recall them all..."

"Uh... yeah! I'm your imaginary friend, sure!" Rorita said encouragingly. "Listen, how would you feel if you gave me your ticket? I would give you something really neat in exchange for it!"

"Really?! Would you make my biggest wish come true?" the girl gasped. "Would you... get me a pony?!?!"

"Of course!" Rorita said, and dug up her homekey - embroidered with gold, naturally. "This is the key to the stable where you'll find the pony. It's all yours - if you give me your ticket."

They quickly made the exchange. Rorita knew she had to hurry, as they were almost at the Departures Terminal.

"Oh gee, thanks!!!" the girl exclaimed, holding the key like a treasure. "But where can I find the stable?"

"You saw that limousine we passed by?" Rorita asked. The girl nodded enthusiasticly. "The driver will get you there. Hurry up, or it'll leave without you!"

"Oh, right!" the girl said absent-mindedly, her head full of images of her brand new pony, turned around and ran to the direction they had come from.

"Easy as ma mama's appelpie!" Rorita said to herself devilishly and glanced at the ticket the girl had given her. "Huh? Toronto... Well, Canada, here I come!"

~*~*~*~*~*~

When the plane landed, Rorita quickly left the airport before the teacher would realize that she wasn't one of her pupils. Rorita wasn't quite sure exactly where in Canada Toronto was located, but it sure was chillier than the United States.

"Well, at least I'm far, far away from my folks!" she smiled.

Suddenly a brisk wind blew to her face. She thought she heard a voice in the wind...

Elements... Gather at the Matchell Park...

As the wind died down, her eyes noticed a bus on the other side of the lane, with the destination of nothing else than...

"Matchell Park!"

Rorita was baffled by the coincidences that had lead her here, but she was not going to let this chance slip by! It was time to seize the moment!

Edit: changed the ending a bit to make it at least somewhat plausible.

Archer sat back against the wall on his room, lazily watching the sand sift from the fish tank over to his hand, forming a small ball, about the size of a small rubber bouncy-ball, and plop down into his hand. He rolled it between his fingers. It was solid with the texture of fine sand. He clentched his fist closed and it didn't shift or sway or move. He smiled.

Elements. Gather at Matchell Park.

Archer's head snapped up. The whisper was gone just as fast as it had came. His crimson hair brushed across his features, framing his face. He sighed gently and then stood up, moving the ball over to the fish tank and letting the sand release, slipping off of his fingers. His other hand found the dresser, opening it. Archer's slender fingers pulled out a light blue iPod mini. Slowly he placed the earphones in, and hit play, with the settings on shuffle. The song that happened to turn on was Enter Sandman. Archer afforded it a rare smile.

It wasn't long before he was near the bus stop, leaning against the lamp post. There wasn't anyone else around. He allowed himself a small sigh of comfort, and picked up a pebble off of the ground. He rolled it around in his fingers and began to change the shape of the stone, forming it into a likeness of the lamp post. He smiled and then placed it in his back pocket.

Archer nodded his head to the rythmitic beat, stepping up onto the first steps of the bus. He payed the driver the small fee and moved to the back, sitting down and looking at people with his steel blue eyes, his red hair framing his face. The polo shirt hung to hims loosely. He closed his eyes and sat back.

Things were looking up.

Cody was out the door within the minute of the ?Whispering Wind? Things were getting too weird ? he had known about his freakish power now for a few months, but he had no idea about Coco and Liam. And now to top it off, he could have sworn he heard the wind talking to him. What the hell is going on!? he thought to himself, but his own thoughts weren?t registering at this point ? his mind was spinning faster and faster by the second.

?Dude, wait up!? It was Liam?s voice that he heard from somewhere behind him, but it didn?t matter ? Cody began to sprint faster. He thought he could hear Coco yelling something as well, but wasn?t paying attention to the words ? the only coherent thought in his head was the distance to Matchell Park. Everything around him was nonexistent except for his feet and the spot on the ground they would land next.

Finally, after a good ten minutes of heavy sprinting, Cody stopped in front of Matchell Park and gasped for air. Sweat was beginning to drop off his forehead, so he quickly whipped it dry with the back of his hand. He thought he could hear his friends beginning to catch up ? for the most part, Cody didn?t like sprinting, but is none the less a fast runner. Cody looked up and viewed his surroundings, even though he had been to this particular park many times in his life. The leaves rustled in the few trees surrounding the park as the wind blew slightly. Off in the distant was a soccer field, but was currently uninhabited. A few meters away lay the park, but was also uninhabited. The wind began to pick up slightly, and sent a chill up Cody?s spine. Where is everyone? he thought to himself.

?Hello!?? he shouted out, but no one answered ? no one else was there.

Clyne stood in the front door of her house, staring out at the sky. She sank her teeth lightly into her lower lip as she twirled a bang of shimmering silver hair with her index finger. She pulled her hand from her hair quickly as it gave her a shock, the electricity flowing through her was semi-uncontrollable but seemed to really come out when she got angry, or if she came into contact with metal. Clyne held out her hand, sighing as thunder flowed from her palm, gathering in a jagged ball of golden light in her hand, she closed her fingers around it, extinguishing the ball. Another thing she did know was that if she touched someone they always got static shocks from her. Clyne slipped on her leather gloves for protection and shut the door, locking it tightly as she looked back to the sky.

She was wearing her usual navy blue pants, and a crisp white button-down shirt, the hem line drooping past her hips. Her chosen footwear was a pair of rubber-soled joggers because of the electric currents running through her veins. Something was telling her to go to Matchell Park, it was an inkling of sorts. Clyne stayed on her front step, unsure if she wanted to follow the feeling, because there was no certainty about it. She shuffled semi-nervously on her feet, with the decision before her.

"Grr, give me a sign!" she growled, looking up in exasperation, half hoping for a reply to appear out of thin air.

Strangely a large fluffy cloud in the sky started to shift and pull apart, leaving gaps in it, when examined carefully read; "ELEMENTS GATHER AT MATCHELL PARK". Clyne stared at it, blinking as the cloud collapsed in on itself, the words disappearing.

"Geez, that's good enough for me." she murmered, setting off at a brisk jog down the sidewalk.

She was a good runner and enjoyed doing the exercise for fitness, and for competition. The park wasn't actually too far from her house and it didn't take her too long to reach her destination at a constant speed. When she got there, there was already a boy standing there, but no one else was in sight.

"Hello?!" he shouted, hands cupped around his mouth.

"Hey! Who are you?" she called out, running over, her sapphire gaze bore into his, she slipped her gloves off and put them into a pocket in her pants, shoving her hands in too. She had them off so she'd be able to give him a slight shock if he was an enemy of any sort.

She didn't hear it, exactly. It wasn't a sound on the ears, like a normal voice. It wasn't even those insanities that kept coming to her -- those voices she kept hearing that weren't really there. It was more a thought in her mind.

I need to meet them.

She couldn't shake the feeling, however, that the thought had been placed, and not her own.

Which led her to the conclusion that she'd been dreading for months now; she was insane. These voices in her head, the thoughts that weren't her own, the whispers she could hear when there was no one else around. There was only one possible reason -- she was skitzophrenic. Sure, the normal paranoia symptoms didn't seem to be in place, but she'd never heard of anything else remotely resembling it.

And who was them, anyway, she asked herself as she stared blindly at the book she'd been reading. It was all well and good being told to meet people, but barring a time, date, place and name, there was no way she was going to go anywhere except the crazy bin.

In fact, that wasn't such a bad idea. She'd go look for a doctor in one of the neighbouring suburbs -- or even towns -- so that no one would know who she or her family was. The business listings would surely have a doctor who specialised in mental health.

She started flipping the pages, scanning them as she went. One in particular caught her eye, so much so that she couldn't look away;

"Out of your element? Meet others like you, with doctor Matchell's program. Park at rear."

She stared at it a couple of seconds, then jotted down the address. It wasn't far. She could take a bus.

Oh, why did she have to be insane?

..

When the bus set her down, she was standing in the middle of a street, not a medical practition in sight.

The bus driver had set her down, and when she'd tried to check that this was the right place, he'd just smiled and said this was where she needed to be.

She turned around. Nothing. Just some dumb park, and

Hello?

Hey! Who are you?

Her face turned grave, but she ignored the voices and looked around again. It was just some stupid park which... -- Matchell Park.

Could it possibly be a coincidence?

Perhaps the group therapy took place in a park. That made sense. Crossing the road and stepping onto the grass, she looked around and called out, half hoping no one would be there.

"Hello?"

?Hey! Who are you?? the words took Cody by surprise as he spun around to see who was talking ? until now, he had believed the park was empty. There, he was met by a girl around the same height with long, silver hair. She had soft, delicate features and sapphire blue eyes that Cody instantly became lost in. A few moments later, he realized he was just staring and quickly tore his eyes away, trying to hide a deep blush that was quickly over-taking him. Within a few seconds he was ok, and looked back at her, unaware that his face was still slightly red.

?Uh? hey there?? he said nervously. Oh, well that was really smooth? Cody thought to himself. Off in the distance, he could now make out the voices of Coco and Liam as they called for him to wait up. He tried to laugh at the fact that his friends were so far behind and trying to catch up, but the laugh came out nervous and in Cody?s ears, quite stupid? Well?. I?m an idiot? Cody couldn?t help but think to himself. ?Uh? my name?s Cody. What?s yours??

At that moment, a bus pulled up and a few people got off, but Cody, usually one to be alert, took no notice.

As cold as can be, Archer left the bus, slipping off and hitting next on the iPod's pad. Du bist, schizophren... it whispered into his ear as Archer walked up to a kid with light brownish blond hair and wide eyes. He was staring off into space...well, not space. At a young woman that had looks to ravish a normal man, he guessed. It didn't have any effect on Archer, as he was as calm and impersonal as could be. He tapped the kid on the shoulder.

"You're gaping." His voice was as smooth as quicksand, flowing over the young man and freezing him further. He didn't avert his gaze from the young woman. The figure in his pocket crumbled into sand and slid up his sleeve, forming into a small rotating spiral on his palm. He looked on at the guy for a moment.

"Who are you, and why are you running so far ahead of your...friends?" He said with slightest bit of hesitation. "Is it for this girl here?" Archer could easily tell that they were probably as old as him, but compared to other people his age, he was rather mature. He swirled the sand, waiting for an answer.
Vienna stumbled over the curb, grabbing onto a street sign to keep herself from falling over. She grumbled about her accident-prone feet before continuing on down the sidewalk. She was out on a walk, having grown tired of the confining environment that was her Aunt Betty's house. The surrounding houses and trees were repetitive and boring, so her mind began to wander. Soon she was thinking about why she had let herself be coerced into visiting the woman she so openly disliked. She blamed her parents' laziness and left it at that.

Coming to a halt, she looked up from her feet, which she had been staring at while she thought. Her blank expression was replaced by a frustrated frown.

"Where am I now?" she asked no one in particular. She had left the house to avoid the awkward conversations she was bound to share with her Aunt Betty, but also to get some fresh air. She had been indoors for so long, it seemed, that she was starting to hear things. Not that other strange things hadn't been happening lately, but the message she heard somehow made her feel uneasy. Looking around, she noticed a bench and a sign on the other side of the road, and crossed the street warily towards them. Reading over the sign, it read 'Matchell Park'. She blinked, read it again, and thought aloud to herself.

"I think I'm going insane."

Vienna read it once more, as a way to assure herself that her eyes weren't playing tricks on her, though when she thought about it, it didn't seem like a logical way to prove that what she was reading was actually on the sign. Feeling that she was thinking too much about it, she shook it off and concentrated on the bench. She noticed that it was wet, from sprinklers she figured, and kneeled down to wait for some of the droplets to move. When a few did, though they moved slowly, she focused on them for a while until they rose off the bench and came towards her.

Holding out her hand, she watched them float around her fingers, join together into a larger droplet, and take the shape of a cat, dog, umbrella and light bulb as she willed it to, until she was startled by the sound of a bus driving past her. She lost her balance and fell backwards onto her back, breaking her concentration. The droplet fell onto her face, and she wiped it off with a look of disbelief.

"I'm not imagining it anymore, am I?" Glancing around, she saw no sign of the bus that had startled her, but she spotted a small gathering of people down the sidewalk. Standing up quickly, she wondered if any of them had seen her. None moved towards or looked at her, so she figured they hadn't. She blinked for a moment, thinking she'd heard the voice again.

"Elements? Could they--? No, they wouldn't. A voice in your head has nothing to do with them, Vie. You need to walk some more," Vienna muttered to herself. She walked past the bench and down one of the paths deeper into the park. She had no idea what she was looking for, but she hoped it wouldn't involve talking to anyone. She was never one to easily meet new people, and it would be even harder while she was doubting her sanity.
Rorita quickly crossed the lane between her and the bus she felt she needed to take. She was a little taken aback by the fact that there was no number or anything at the front of the bus, just the destination. Matchell Park.

"Oh well, maybe Canadians are just weird that way", she shrugged and climbed the bus.

It was empty, except for the driver, an age-old Native American woman, who snored loudly.

"Excuse me, ma'am!" Rorita said. The woman didn't even flinch, so Rorita nudged her a little. Then a little harder. Finally she leaned to her ear and shouted from the bottom of her lungs: "WAKE UP!!!"

"Huhwhah?!" the woman yelped, nearly jumping off her seat. "Oh, it's you... Please be seated, young miss. We'll depart shortly. As in now."

"Aren't we going to wait for other passengers?" Rorita wondered, glancing at the empty rows of seats.

"There's nobody else coming to this ride, so be a nice girl and sit down."

The driver closed the doors and started the engine. Rorita hurried to a seat near the middle doors. She preferred to keep a safe distance to the strange old lady.

~*~*~*~*~*~

The old woman left her at the edge of Matchell Park and speeded away. For the first time during this little adventure of hers, Rorita begun to doubt if it had been such a good idea to run away in the first place. She felt insecure, and lonely.

Then she heard birds singing in the park, and saw two squirrels playfully chasing each other. A gentle breeze made the leaves of the maples and oaks of the park sizzle calmingly. Rorita stepped from the side walk into a dirt path, and instantly the park felt like home. Only better.

Panting like he had never before, Coco, followed by Liam, finally caught up to their friend who was accompanied by two other teenagers around the same age. One was a stunning young lady and the other was a relaxed teenage guy with shockingly red hair. The three of them seemed to be getting along just fine.

"Crap can you ever run," said Liam, who was still breathing heavily, "You should seriously consider Track and Field." Cody turned and looked at his old friend, patting him on the back with a small chuckle.

"Nah, I'm just naturally talented at everything." he joked, causing the two new kids to laugh and Coco and Liam to roll their eyes. Cody wasn't normally cocky so it was obvious he was trying to impress the boy and girl. Liam stood up straight and stretched his arms while Coco nodded a small greeting to the visitors with a smile.

"The name is Coco.." he smiled. The girl nodded back and bowed her head, taking Coco by surprise.

"A pleasure, Coco." she said. The other boy also did the 'guy nod' and smirked.

"I won't be bowing or anything, but the name's Archer if you're interested." he replied smoothly. Liam also introduced himself the group began chatting like old friends. The whole clump of them seemed to have a rare connection and instantly got along.

Jake walked his usual routine around his neighborhood. He was usually bored when it was too early in the day and he didn't have school to go to. It's not that Jake didn't have any friends, it's more like he just preferred to pass the time by reading a book or by lounging around on some open fields or even on the roof of his house while he daydreamed with the help of the carefree breeze.

Many around the neighborhood knew him though, as lazy as Jake seems...the better word to describe him is actually temperate. However, he dosn't often turn down a request for help, whether it be with a simple task around the town or if a friend needed help with homework or with personal problems. It was something he was enthusiastic about...it was just that most of the time his conscience would get in the way if he considered saying no.

Jake waved to one of the shop owners as he walked by, the lady who ran the kitchen knew Jake for a long time as he was a regular there. Most of the time he could be found there with a small group of friends after school was out. The day was clear, a wind was noticable but it was not a particularly breezy day...though for some reason...it seemed strong enough to convey a subtle message through the currents to Jake's ears...or as Jake would refer to them as...

"Gah...damn annoying voices...how much longer is this going to go on? I know I'm in tune with the wind and all but this is starting to get rediculous" he said to himself as for the third time he heard the enigmatic voice requesting "Elements, gather at Matchell Park".

Jake thought nothing of it at first and figured it was the wind playing tricks with his ears...but the thought of going to Matchell Park for the simple probability that it might quell these voices was growing more and more as a desireable alternative. Jake sighed and just leaned against the wall of another store, his hands firmly in his jeans pockets. His eyes followed some leaves blowing in the wind down the street, it was rather ominous in the way that the leaves seemed to follow one another in a crooked yet apparent single file. Jake watched as he subtly laughed to himself.

"Ha...well...alright then. Matchell Park is that way, i don't suppose it would hurt to go take a look...after all...i don't have anything better to do."

Jake pushed himself off the wall and walked down the street toward the park. He wasn't really sure what the purpose was, or what he would find there, or even if there was anything significant about the voices he was hearing at all...but he had already started walking...and stopping would be more troublesome than finishing his walk anyway...especially if it meant that he would continue hearing the voices.

He reached the entrance to the park 10 minutes later...living in the neighborhood meant knowing the shortest routes to just about anywhere anybody would need to go. Upon reaching the entrance, Jake noticed a young girl standing in the entryway looking around as if confused. He wondered why she was there alone, she looked much too young to be out in the open without her parents. Jake walked up cautiously, not wanting to startle her...he didn't really feel like making idle chit chat but it was doubtful he could walk into the park without her seeing him.

"Um...excuse me little girl..."

"Huh? Hey! Who are you!? Get away from me!" she yelled out, as she ran up to Jake and kicked him directly in the shin. Jake's eyes bluged at the pain and grabbed his leg and started jumping up and down on his good leg.

"Ow! Why did you go and do that for!? It's not like i was going to hurt you or something!" Jake said, trying to fight off the pain he felt. It wasn't that the girl was particularly strong, but getting hit in the shin with even a small amount of force would hurt just about anyone.

"W...who are you" the girl asked, still in a defensive like stance with her hands up by her mouth. Jake finally finished nursing his shin, though it still hurt like hell.

"My name is Jake...I don't mean you any harm...but where are your parents?"

The girl eased herself a little noticing a rather tranquil look in the boy's eyes. She was still weary but figured that it must have been a weird sight from the outside for a girl as young as herself to be wandering around by herself anyway.

"Oh...i see...i'm sorry i kicked you Jake. As for my parents...well...they aren't here." the girl answered.

"Oh? Well maybe you should...wait...is there a particular reason you came to Matchell Park?" Jake inquired, figuring that he might not have been the only person to hear the voices. It was a long shot, and it was at the risk of looking like the weird one himself, but he wasn't really worried about the judgement of a little girl at this point.

"Um...well...this may sound a little crazy...but..."

"Let me guess, you heard a voice telling you to come here." Jake said, interuppting her.

"Huh...no way! Yeah! How in the world did you know that!?" the girl asked excitedly.

"Same reason I'm here...but as far as I can see there isn't anything special going on..."

"Maybe we have to go into the park...hey, are you coming or what!?" she said as she started to wave for Jake to go with her.

"Huh? Hold on a minute..."

"Come on!" she said, comfortably running into the park. Jake tried to stop her again but to no avail. He drooped his head and just walked quickly to catch up with her. A ways in she slowed down and turned her head to him.

"Oh, by the way my name is Rorita."

"Oh? Well, nice to meet you...I guess." Jake said, as more figures came into view. There were four of them, they seemed to already be talking with each other. Jake and Rorita got closer as one of the others turned after seeing them out of the corner of her eye.

"Jake? What are you doing here?" she asked. Jake recognized her as well. They went to the same school afterall. Jake looked around and didn't recognize the others.

"Clyne, fancy meeting you here. I suppose it's a rather odd story about why I'm here...but what about you?" Jake asked.

OoC: Thanks for grabbing Rorita along with Jake, BK! ;D

~*~*~*~*~*~

It took quite a while before Rorita realized that she was hanging out in a recluse park in some Canadian suburb with five people who were at least five years older than her.

Something inside her shouted in panic, but her outerior remained calm and curious. Just smile, she said to herself. Smiling is the best way to handle a troubling situation, or so her mother always said.

Suddenly one of the teenage boys - the one with the cute longish blonde hair - turned to Rorita.

"So, you have an elemental power as well?"

"Uh-huh", she assured. "Although I wasn't aware it was...uh, elemental until I heard the voice. What's elemental, anyway? I don't think it has anything to do with elementary school..."

This remark caused the boy to let out an amused laughter.

"No, it doesn't", he said. "Elements are sorta like the basic powers of the universe. Or something. I'm Coco, by the way."

It was Rorita's turn to laugh with her clear, high voice.

"Isn't that a girl's name?" she said with the cutest smile she could conjure on her face. Definitely an asset when you're insulting somebody. "Anyway, I am Rorita D'Arc, from Florence, South Carolina! Now I'd like to know what are we all waiting for?"

Archer looked at the group. It was coming together...nicely. Nicely. That's the word that he'd use. He allowed himself to relax and bathe in the company of these people who seemed to be friends he'd known for a lifetime. Unlike the fact that he'd just met these strange new people. He brought one hand up through his crimson hair, feeling the locks twisting and swaying in the wind against his fingertips. He let the hair fall back down softly, adjusting his polo shirt with a couple of tugs.

"My name's Archer Rindinson. From Toronto. Now, I'm wondering why we're all gathered here. For no apparant reason. But, since we have the time, I'd be interested in what all of you have for..."powers." Archer tasted the word on the tip of his tounge, swirling it around like a fine, delicate wine. He strechted one arm out slowly and held his palm face up.

Slowly, slowly, and then a little quicker, sand began to pull itself out of the dirt and collect in a small swirling vortex the size of his palm. Archer formed it into a perfect sphere, and held it out. Without hesitation, Coco reached out and touched it with an index finger, expecting to pierce the skin of the sphere. Instead, his finger bent back with the amount of pressure he exerted. It was hard. Very hard.

"Huh. What are you, sand, earth, ground, somethin' like that?" One of them interjected. Archer didn't remember his name if he had said it.

"Earth. What about all of you?" Archer turned the cold and calm stare to them.

Shock. There was no other word to really describe it. When Coco asked this new girl ? Cody thought she had said her name was Rorita ? what her ?power? was, Cody was surprised to say the least. However now, it seemed that this Archer too had powers. Light, shadow, fire, earth? could they all have some sort of connection? This is hardly coincidence? Cody thought to himself. His mind was racing faster and faster every minute. Perhaps each of us has our own element? our own power. Which would mean that everyone else here has a power too!

It was odd, this coming together of newly found friendship. It was obvious that some of the group knew each other, but for the most part were complete strangers to each other. However, as soon as they all met, everyone seemed (or at least, as Cody perceived it to be) to be completely comfortable with each other. Coco had seemed to have taken a strong, charismatic mood that completely suited him, and Liam was well? Liam ? his jokes were already making the group laugh. However, Cody couldn?t quite feel comfortable ? for the most part, he sat back and nodded, occasionally laughing at the different jokes that were being made. It wasn?t so much that he disliked being part of a group, but Cody found it hard to fit in at times.

After Archer had finished his demonstration of his powers, Cody took the slightly awkward silence to introduce himself.

?Um? hey guys ? my name?s Cody Maxwell. I live about ten minutes away from here.? Cody paused for a moment, gathered his thoughts, and then continued. ?It seems as though we?ve all been brought here for a reason. I don?t know how much bigger this group is going to get, so I think we should all kinda tell each other our ?powers?. ?Oh, and by the way, if there?s anyone here who doesn?t have any powers, then I?m terribly sorry for scaring the hell out of you? ? he said his with a sheepish smile that got a couple of laughs. Even just the few laughs he got seemed to boost his confidence ten fold. ?Alright guys, my power is Shadow I think.? When the others in the group gave him blank stares, Cody closed his eyes and tapped into his powers.

The sun was still fairly high in the sky, and casting shadows on many nearby trees. Cody could some how feel each of them. He raised his right hand slowly, and began moving it slowly towards the closest tree. His eyes suddenly shot open, and the shadow began to move. At first the change was gradual, but it eventual began to turn from the shadow of a tree, into the shape of a man. Sweat beginning to drip of his face, he let go of the shadow and gasped for air ? he had concentrated so intently on his powers, he had forgotten to breath. Running a hand through his hair, he turned back to the group. ?The shadows can?t really do anything, but that?s all I can do so far.?

Everyone ...here ...power too... The words seemed almost stronger now, although they still faded in and out a bit, like a radio that wasn't quite tuned properly.

Elodie stood uncertainly underneath a tree, watching the group of people. She'd been there for a couple of seconds; had spent several minutes wandering around, without a clue of what to do. Most of the group were her age; she could tell that one of the girls was several years younger, probably early teens, if that.

They were clustered in a group, huddled quite tight and staring down at something between them. She stepped foward, hesitantly. "Is this..is this the group meeting?" she asked with a tremour in her voice.

They looked up, and one shrugged. "Yeah, this is where the group is, I suppose." The speaker had flaming red hair. She smiled. He'd be hard to miss in a crowd. Several others had reacted favourably to their being described as 'the group'. It seemed odd to her that people who were showing up for group therapy were surprised by the fact that they were a group.

The younger girl turned to her. "What's your power?" She demanded forcefully.

Elodie stared. "Excuse me?"

"What's your power?"

"Uhm...I don't have a power." She said solemnly. "I'm just here for the group meeting. You know...therapy."

"Why?" The girl demanded.

Completely taken aback, Elodie could only ask, "Why what?"

"Why do you have to have therapy?"

"Oh," Elodie replied, tucking the whispy strands of white blonde hair behind her ears in what was obviously a nervous action. "Well, um, actually, I think I'm going insane. I, um, I keep hearing voices in my head." Relieved to finally get it off her chest, she confided, "For instance, just before I heard someone say, 'Everyone here has power too'." She shook her head and gave a small, nervous laugh, missing the surprised reaction of the brown haired boy on her left.

She didn't miss anything, however, when he replied solemnly, "I think you should join our little group."

She gave a relieved, rare, smile. She liked this group of people, very much so. It seemed almost like she'd known these people for a very, very long time.

Which seemed a little odd, considering that she'd never immediately trusted people in her life. It just...it felt like she could.

The group turned back into their little circle as she joined them. The redhead turned to the others and asked, "Who's next?"

Clyne stood with the group. After meeting with Cody as the first two people in the park she introduced herself to him alone, then everyone else arrived fairly quickly, including Jake who she knew from school; explaining the message in the clouds.

She listened as first Archer, then Cody and the new girl shared what powers they had. She was nervous about revealing her abnormality but felt at ease knowing everyone else there had powers too. She clenched her fists which were still buried in her pockets as she looked at everyone else.

"Who's next?" Archer asked.

Clyne took a breath and spoke, "My name's Clara Gascoyne, but known as Clyne to all, and I live....well, 5 minutes away. Weird coincidence that we were all called here, huh? Anyway, I think my power is over Thunder, or electricity."

Biting her lower lip she extracted her hands, holding her right palm out and squinting in concentration. She could feel everyone's eyes on her as lightning danced over her arms, gathering in her palm and slowly building up a ball of golden light, with strand like particles constantly spraying from it. Clyne lifted her head to look at the group, she hefted the ball and pivoted, hurling it toward a light pole not too far away. It connected and the lightbulb flickered to life, shedding light to the area even though it was still day.

She turned back to the group with a shrug, "Thaaaaat's about it. If I throw it at someone it's just enough to give 'em a good shock."

The world around him seemed rather? Monochrome to him as of lately. Not just one color though more of one feeling, cold. As of not to long ago, everything had suddenly began to be brought down to a rather low chill to him. It all must have been his mind though; he has been near radiators, campfires, and even out in the open sun. Yet, still everything was as cold as the inside of a freezer.

As of recently though, he had a certain feeling, a reeling though to head to one certain place. Maybe it could have been why everything had begun to feel so cold around him. Elements, Gather at Matchell Park, the words continued to rumble throughout the immense fabric that was his mind. Perhaps there would be?.others there that are like him? Maybe they had a similar thing that he had? Some kind of an odd feeling, or even power, yes power?. The though were quickly extinguished from his mind as he continued to move towards the destination in question.

?Well at least I know that I am not the only one who is insane, that voice, it keeps saying it in a plural, there must be more of me, more people akin to I?.?

As more time had eventually come to past, Shisto eventually slid his hands back into his Sweatshirt pockets. His face was actually hidden inside it; most of his facial features couldn?t be detected just because of it. He had eventually arrived at is destination. There seemed to be?.other people here at least, Shisto didn?t mean to make himself noticed as of now though, it wasn?t important too him. He wasn?t even the kind of person to do this. The same question continued to pester through his mind. ?Why am I here, should I even be here in the first place??

Questions aside, he was finally here, instead of boring himself and others with long and drawn out introductions he instead stepped back and waited for the introductions to come to him.

OoC: sorry for the length, just needed to put atleast something in.

Jake watched as Clyne demonstrated her powers to everyone else. It did seem odd that the glue that bonded all of these people together was their common abilities to have a degree of control over a respective element. Jake wondered as well what they were all supposed to be waiting for, it seemed though that he would finally rid himself of those voices in his head...he was relieved as well that he was not the only one who heard them. He shrugged and decided to play along for now, everyone seemed easy to get along with. He already knew Clyne from school and he had just met Rorita, albeit a misunderstood meeting at first. He felt comfortable however around them however, he never really judged people pre-maturely anyhow, it wasn't in his nature.

"Flashy as usual, Clyne." Jake said, laughing subtly to himself. He looked around and noticed nobody else seemed to be laughing at his attempt at a witty joke. Jake cut his laughing short and cleared his throat.

"Well...anyway i guess i'll go next. My name is Jake Evans, i was born in Queens, New York...but moved here with my parents 5 years ago. Neither have really satisfied my yearning for a harmonious atmosphere...but i suppose I can't complain too much either. "

Cody nodded, noticing Jake spoke a little differently then most of the people who lived in the city.

"Nice to meet you Jake, I'm Cody. What about your...ability?" Cody asked curiously.

"Well...suppose I can do this." Jake said as he pointed his right pointer finger upward. Jake began to accelerate the wind already blowing around the group in the park. Everyone's hair began to wave and flicker along with the wind, as Rorita grabbed hold of her dress to hold it down from the strong breezes. Leaves and flower petals blew past them into the streets, as it looked like it has just rained a whole bunch of nature. Jake quelled the wind and proceeded to fix his hair up, as it always got messy when he used his powers.

"Wind, huh? That was quite impressive." Elodie said, as she too fixed her hair so it was out of her eyes. Archer and Coco pulled a few loose leaves off of their clothing from Jake's demonstration.

"Yep, Jake's an airhead alright" Clyne said as she giggled a bit.

"How cruel..." Jake said facetiously. "But anyway...it doesn't get very much stronger than that...but it's enough to get me by. Especially on drab windless days." Jake continued.

"Well, that adds wind to our merry group here...who wants to go next?" Archer asked.

"Okay..." Rorita pondered. "So wind, thunder, earth and such are all natural elements. And Elodie, you said you can read people's minds, huh? Well, I guess my element is... well, look at this."

Rorita crouched to the center of the circle, and all the others leaned forward to see better. Rorita put her hands to the ground, and when she lifted them up, a fragile yellow flowerbud sprouted from the grass.

"So, is my element like flower or something?" Rorita asked the others, who were just smiling at the girl. Obviously her power was pathetic, in their opinion. "Sounds so lame..."

Without putting any attention to it, Rorita placed her hand above the flower and made it wither in an instant.

As Rorita stood up, she saw that everybody's expression had changed from slight amusement to amazement and shock, even fear.

"Uh..." Coco said unsurely. "I think... you have power over life and death!"

Rorita gasped and put her hand over her mouth. She had never thought it that way!
