visualkei
I was wondering if there's anyone that watches this show on PBS. One day I was flipping through the channels, and it caught my eye. What are these people yelling about? I don't understand a lot about politics, even though it's this show's central theme. I admit, half the times I don't know what's coming out of their mouths because the discussors tend to trail off, referencing political figures I don't know of. I just enjoy watching these people debate vehemently, though it's on major national and international issues. It's interesting, and I think it's also funny, especially the host, who's comments are so brusk, like when he shuts everyone up, and closes discussion topics. Anyone here watches this show? Do you understand most of what they're debating about? hehe. Do you also think it's amusing?
Shinmaru
I never watch McLaughlin Group, but I remember the Saturday Night Live parody sketches from way back when with Dana Carvey as John McLaughlin. I love how ridiculous those were, with McLaughlin allowing like five seconds for each guest to answer the question, and then immediately shouting, "WRONG!" and giving his absurd response in return, haha. They were fantastic. :)
Shy
PBS? So that's where the McLaughlin Group has been hiding all these years, heh. I used to watch it on my local NBC Station in Junior High (Yeah, I'm a nerd, I know) but I believe McLaughlin had some kind of health problem, and the series moved off NBC some time after. The problem is that the discussion panel is usually slanted in one direction or the other, and nobody is given enough time to state both their opinion and whatever facts or reasoning they have to support it. There's definitely something to be learned from watching it. I watched it when I was 13, and didn't have too much trouble trying to understand everything. At times they might get a little too specific or dated with their references, but it's still better than anything on Fox News. -Shy

Wow, I can't believe I actually got replies from someone about this show. TWO people, haha. I'm not being sarcastic. Yeah, I like how McLaughlin kind of closes discussions with some far sided statement. I didn't know it used to be on NBC... Anywayz, I'm starting to like PBS shows more and more now. Especially when it comes to news.
