What does everyone do for a living?

Me, I am an office assistant for a small company. Blah.

Everyone else? Please share! Also, what is the best/worst part about your job?

I go to school full time and work half time.

The part time job I have is at McDonalds. The best part of the job is the money (of course) and also the half price deal on all the menu except for the dollar menu.

What really sucks about it is that there are some managers that I absolutely hate working with and there are sometimes really rude customers.

Oh yeah, I hate working the breakfast shifts. That is the most annoying of all.

Unfortuanetally I lack a reliable mode of transport required to travel to and from work everyday, so I cannot get a job. Plus, I'm only fifteen, so my options are rather limited.

As for aquiring money, I do so in the only manner in which I know how. Chores. My younger brother and I do chores and at least try to keep the house clean for $25 dollars a week.

In the past, we have usually been able to do a fairly half-assed job and get paid anyway out of my dad's unfathomable kindness, but he has consistantly raised his standards, as have we in attempting to impress him.

I actually work at a movie theatre while I put myself back through college. I'm pretty bored during the day time with all the down time between classes, but I work all night and it sucks. Hopefully I'll be able to get a good job (even an assistant would be better than this).

Well as for me, since i'm only 14, have no job. And I have absolutely no income whatsoever, which sucks. Yeah, I don't have much money, but my parents and grandparents do^^ So thats basically how acquire video games, video game systems, and other various things. All I have to do pretty much is just ask them to buy me something and they usually do, so yeah. You may now envy me.

I'm a student. I blog for money, but really, I live off my parents, scholarships, grants, and government loans (increasingly leaning more on the latter every year). Blogging just really keeps your out-of-pocket expenses in check.

I'd like to say ladies put dollar bills in my pants, but that's just not true.[/fail] =(

Well, get ready to quit! McDonald's is considering serving breakfast all day.

Anyway, I go to school and work at Home Depot.

I also get paid for moderating here. They had me set up a Paypal account and I get paid bi-weekly. It's nothing to write home about--only a couple hundred dollars, but it's nice to have extra spending money.

Arg! I hated working at McDonald's period! There are so many people there who have way too much time for drama.. case in point the forty year old woman who worked cash resgister with my best friend because I worked in pit. She went off on me once for putting the fries in the fryer! Well duh I thought that's where they went.

Oh and did I mention that I was pregnant when I worked there? My boss would only let me go to the bathroom once a day and I worked a three hour shift. Needless to say I and my friend who was seven months along at the time complained.... Oh and after four months I quit, $6.25 an hour wasn't quite worth the drama. But hey two fast food chains down two to go.

Hmm what do I do to get paid? Well I just got let go from my most recent temp job, but I do get $475 a month in child support and I get food stamps. And right now I'm trying to get a new job so it's not like I'm one of those stereotypical welfare people, I'm one of those welfare people who thinks we actually need something called a working wage.

I'm also trying to go through VESID to take a class in Phlebotomy, but the psychologist through VESID can't see me until the seventh of November! So right now it's just a lot of temp jobs. I even applied at the Marriot for a housekeeping position and I hate to clean!

What a fun question... I am two weeks shy of 16, and I have 2 jobs. Let's start with the first:

1. A party store. It's actually a lot of fun. I started working there last November, and I basically do a LOT. The big thing is making balloon bouquets - that's what we're known for. I'm really good at it... I love to do it now. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten many hours lately... My pay started at $6.50/hour, but now it's up to $6.75. On months when I get hours, I usually make about $200.

2. A restaurant & bar. I'm supposed to be hostessing, but I basically bus tables. I got this job about a month ago or so, & I'm getting paid $6/hour + tips [which you don't get a lot of, as a hostess].

My jobs are both great because I get to see a bunch of kids. I LOVE them, so these jobs are perfect for me! =]

Well, I get paid two different ways:

Bearing in mind this is between college hours.

1. Restaurant near the Seafront. A few other members of my family work there as well, my mom, my Grandmother and sometimes even her mother! I suppose the position I play is a waitor, but we all seem to share the same jobs, except for the chefs, which are my mom and gran. Wherever possible, each of us will either do some waitoring, serving, till work or whatever needs doing. So we all share the same position, and the boss... well he can take it easy. :animedepr

2. Looking after my little sister for certain days. At times when my mom has to go out for the day or something, she normally pays me a few quid to look after my sister for the day. Luckily, my sister and I are quite close and we very rarely have arguements. She enjoys spending time with me and my friends, and I enjoy the company.

I suppose the worst part of my restaurant job is when I'm pulled into working when it's not my normal hours, and it makes it worse when the weather is wondeful. I have to painfully watch people having fun on thebeach, while I work my *** off! :animesigh
That sounds pretty interesting... how does that work? I remember hearing something about blogging for money, but I didn't really pay much attention to it.
Well, the basic starting point is the same: you sign up with google's adsense program. Then how well you advertise yourself or refer people will determine how much you get paid. A lone blog that no one will probably never see won't get you much, so blogging in communities or places that help with referrals and the like (and most importantly, ALLOW google adsense) helps.

I blog at three communities, but really, I'm using the same post for each place. Just more $$$ because it gets more exposure. Money comes from google, and who can't trust google? (which admittedly, is a bit scary)

Hm. So how much do you make on average for one blog site/community? That, and do you get money through page hits or ad clicks? I understand that the payment would rely on you advertising your site, and I don't mean to pry, I'm just seeing if it's something worth looking into seriously.

Thanks.

For most small blogs you're looking at $10 a week tops. And that's a blog plastered in ads. Also, if you get into blogging for the money you're doing it for the wrong reasons, and readers can tell, so I'd consider it carefully.

I work as a Personal Assistant to my Mum, and I get paid **** all a week. I'm quitting next year, thankfully.

Yeah, DeadSeraphim is right: I only make like, 60 bucks a month but it' sreally random how much you get (although I don't think you have to "plaster" your site). Like I said, it's only useful for out of pocket expenses. I have heard people who get much more though - don't know if it's true.

And yeah, google pays you different amounts based on usage: if people click, then you get more than if the ad just shows up on your site. And if you refer someone you get the most possible money. Of course, referrals are also the hardest thing to get.

Sometimes my brother and I are really lazy and we decide not to do our chores for long periods of time (like this past summer). When this happens, we don't have any money of course.

At times this can be dangerous. If one of us sees something that we want, we may do a week or two of chores to be able to get it, but every so often something big comes up that we know will take a joint effort and a lot of cash.

In these cases we will reapply ourselves to our work while simultneously change collecting. This exercize is simply amazing - seriously, just look around your house, in your dryer, in your couch, gather all the change, and put it in one of the cash makers at Farm Fresh or Food Lion. Last time we managed to gather 40 bucks in 2 days.

Currently I'm working in an Office Manager position in Brisbane...but I'm being relocated to a new job in my company's head office. It'll be an even tougher job, but at least the pay is better.

I enjoy my job but it definitely leaves me very little time. And in Melbourne it will be even worse; all staff there arrive at about 8:30am and nobody leaves before 6:30pm at the earliest. Most staff - particularly management - stay back until around 7:30 - 8:00pm...and I know for a fact that the CEO and State Manager often stay back 'till as late as 9pm.

So it's going to be very tough, but I think I will enjoy it nevertheless.

I worked as a waitress (or sorts) at a local restaurant. I didn't enjoy it because of minimal tips and because of the akwardness of doing nothing when there was no job for me to do. But I got nearly $8 an hour, so I wasn't complaining.

I put work on hold as soon as I entered Junior year at high school. My schedule is driving me absolutely crazy. My school is known for giving the toughest teaching for AP classes so we'll get 4/5s on the exam. I found this out after I signed up for four. *head/desk*
