kalon
I've been back in school since late July, and it is about to let out for Fall break. Right now, I am avoiding an Algebra II assignment where we have to create a linear programming problem, avoiding writing a column on any subject in Broadcast Journalism, and trying to Google uses of infinitives in Latin. So I got to thinking about favorite subjects. My favorite subjects are English and Latin. English is naturally my favorite because I want to be a book editor, and a writer if I can live off of it. I adore English grammar with all its strange rules and tenses. I don't mind taking tests over books since reading is one of my hobbies, and I love when we get to write our own stories. I also apparently have the best English teacher ever this year, because everyone I have ever talked with about teachers proclaims this man is God. (Incidentally, the man known as Satan was my Geometry teacher.) I adore Latin almost more than English. Linguam Latina amo. Linguam Latina regit. (Eheu! I probably got word order wrong, and those should technically run together without capitalization or punctuation, but oh well.) Everything is so much fun. The vocabulary and tenses and conjugations and declensions are just divine. My Latin teacher is also one of the coolest people I've ever met. She moos and barks for the class on occasion. We also get to eat in there pretty often. Matlock, the teacher, supplies us with candy pretty often, my mom brought the class pizza last year, and I baked cupcakes for the class a couple of weeks ago. Double chocolate cupcakes are therapeutic after a Latin vocabulary and derivatives test. Latin Derivatives are awesome, too. Most words in the English dictionary are Latin-derived, as are many European languages. We also spend a lot of time learning English in Latin, because you have to know English grammar to know Latin grammar. So enough about me. Tell me your favorite subjects, or least favorites, or both. Is it your favorite because you do well in it, or was there a favorite teacher, or is it your favorite subject just because the guy/girl you have the hots for sits in front of you? Sho Ayori
I suppose my favourite would be Media Studies and ICT. Morever because they give me the hance to hone my two competent skills, computing and drawing. Plus media lets me view and learn things in a multimedia style, which makes it easierfor me to learn. Guest LilyBebeboo
my favorite subjects are English, Sociology and anything that is creative! I hate the traditional subjects usually. I like stuff that applies to real life! I've taken about a billion film courses and they seem to be my favorite.
Sojiro47
Oh yeah! I'm all over this one! My favorite subject in school is My Math class. I don't know what you would call it, but to us it's Math 301. Math has always been my favorite, mainly because I good at it. My teacher doesn't teach, but he expects you to learn by asking questions, which I enjoy because that's how I learn. If you think to your class, you might remember that one person who does nothing during class, but still passes all the tests. That's me. I'm just naturally goos with numbers. Gavin
Interesting, most interesting. Back in high school about a month at this stage so I have a fairly good impression of most of my Leaving Cert subjects. So far out of the six, maths, French, English, chemistry, biology and business, my favourite is probably biology simply because it's by far the most interesting, made so by a teacher who has actually some interest in teaching and imparting an enjoyment of biology to her students. Currently we're on cellular examination with light microscopes, and though classes at 40 minutes are a bit short, it's enough to make the experiments worth the wait.
2010DigitalBoy
I like my Japanese class. I'm not particularly good at Japanese, in fact I'm struggling to not fall behind (I was extremely lucky to make it into Japanese 2). The reason I like my class is the vibe. A large percent of the students are passionate about learning it, and some of them are otaku as well. I love that I can get along with any person in that class easily and have been able to spark conversationss with some from thin air, which is cool. This year I have an awesome teacher and she's honestly and truly devoted. Her entire life seems to be essentially based around teaching, and I like that. Plus she's fun, but not overly leniant. English class is a second option. i don't like it, and i find it boring, but I am damn good at it. Last year I could swear my teacher wanted to marry me and this year I've already deemed that I'm prolly the best English student in there (I dont mean this as an insult, but I pride myself in knowing that Im good and have worked to be good.) Of course, I have a high tendency to break the rules when it comes to essays and get way off topic (which last year was funny because my teacher kept complimenting my abilities, but giving me lower grades XD) Overall, I'd rather do anything than go to school. I hope to try and test out >_<

kalon
I was under the impression word order didn't matter in Latin, which makes knowing your case endings all the more important because they tell you what parts of speech words are so you can accurately "reconstruct" a sentence.
No, word order does not really matter. It's just that some things do have a usual order, like the noun is usually before the verb (even though you need only a verb to have a complete sentence in most cases). And if you end up with a participle that can be either Nominative or Accusative plural, and your subject and direct object are both plural, and the participle would work for either one, a little word order can give you a hint, although in that case, it should make more sense for either the sub. or d.o. to be modified by the participle. And yes, there are tons of case endings. There are several declensions of nouns, and several conjugations of verbs, and there are the verb endings for every tense, and adjectives have to agree with nouns in number, gender, and case and the adjectives are either 1/2 or 3 and they have terminations and degree. lamna argentata est barda (That's one where it helps to have a lttle word order, even if mine is sketchy.) veniam peto I probably got a case mixed up somewhere. If anyone more experienced in Latin than I should read this, please correct me.
Andy
Hmmm....well I suppose English would have to be my most favored subject. Maily because I do very well in it, because it comes so natural to me. I suppose English would have to be the subject that I have always done well in, so I usually do my homework mainly because it doesn't really seem like work to me, because it's so easy. And because I have such great grammar, pronunciatian, and spelling, I usually make good grades. Oh and in the 2nd grade, my teacher told my parent's that I read on a adult level.
Albert Flasher
My current favourite subject is my Advanced science class, at least for the moment. I'm not tremendously interested in science, but we always do these cool little labs with chemicals and reactions and such. It's not really the experaments themselves so much as the hilarity that ensues when me and my friends accidently light a girls hair on fire with a series of hydrogen explosions. That was funny... But the eventually we're going to get into atomic and theorical physics classes, and our school doesn't exactly have the budget for that kind of lab, so I'm probably not going to like science as much. My favourite subject in general is either LA or Digital Media. Digital Media is cool because we have laptops at my school (Only public school in North America with them) and we basically screw around on them and play video games all class. Well, that's what I do. And LA is fun because we get 10 minutes every class to write, and I write about random crap and them give it to my friend to email around the class, because everyone loves my writing lol. We're also reading... That Scottish Play and kind of mini-preforming it, which is cool because I get to be MacDuff. Teehee... Duff...

Fyxe
I'm just going to go ahead and say lunch. This is somewhat obvious, because 1) It's a break from normal classes and my stomach isn't churning over incomplete assignments and 2) I finally get my first meal of the day. All my classes as of now are very bland, none of them sticking out and being my favorite. It also doesn't help that I'm not fond of any of the teachers. It's like they threw all the bad ones at me all in one semester... yay. So, lunch is a great choice for me. I get food, no assignment, and I get to throw pretzels at people. It's a win/win if you ask me.

eleanor
English used to be my favorite subject, but the literature/language classes offered at my school no longer excite or stimulate me intellectually. It's still definitely my passion, but right now at school it's no longer my favorite subject (if that makes sense). So even though I surprise myself by saying this, AP Calc is probably my most interesting subject. My teacher is amazing, although eye-stabbingly difficult. I don't think I've ever had to devote so much time to daily studying for any other subject, and the great thing about math is that once you get it, you get it. There's that breaking point you struggle to reach, but when you reach it it feels damn good. Newspaper follows closely, because it's basically a free class for us to hang out and get our extra work done. Then on final bedday everyone stays at school until about midnight trying to get the paper done. ;)
Ikillion
Oh man Latin still has to be one of my most favored subjects, although it really was odd that some of the first words we learned were rather odd though. Some of them were the words for "slave girl" and "to please" yeah I will let your mind go off and have fun with that one. Then the other most favored class would have to be chemistry. Its times like these that I am glad to be in Honors Chemistry, we havne't even gone a quarter into the year and we have already done all kinds of intresting expirements. Then the calculations wern't as hard as I though they were to be. Our teacher is rather....intresting. She must be some kind of a teenager at heart by the way she acts. Edit @ Phaedrus. Lol, that made me laugh rather hard. Great job.
Hanabishi Recca
Every corner I turn, I see a hideous subject. I almost with I could execute these things which bother me so badly. Yet, it is beyond the bound on possobility. Oh, I with day and night I wouldn't have to learn! Though morning comes and I have to learn something. Though I stay at home, though I hate these books of mine.. I have to learn. Here is a hint: I don't like anything I'm not good in. Too bad I'm bad in every subject. Delta
Favorite subjects, huh? From what I've seen of this thread, I'm glad everybody has finally gotten over Lunch. Unlike most of you, I don't like taking language classes. Am quite dull when it comes to syntax and sentence construction and I tend to go by gut feeling rather than consult a handbook for them present perfect verb whatever. But I won't mind learning a new language if it's Persian or a really obscure local dialect of ours. Very cool. I absolutely love taking up Drafting classes, or any subject that involves dependence on pencils, rulers and compasses for that matter. The way auxiliary views and sections can be projected in different views by using s few simple drafting rules still amazes me. A well-made diagram's worth a thousand words plus a few more that only engineers can catch. PE's another subject I'm pretty good at (ergo, I love)... well, only those that require heavy physical exertion anyway. I'm supposed to pass in 4 PE classes in our university but I took 5 'cause I failed the one I took during my second year (it was Bridge! A game of luck, for chrissakes!) So far, I've taken up judo, swimming, basic life-saving (yes, it's PE 'cause it's pure water rescue) and scuba diving. The only water-related course I havent taken up is skin diving. Not bad, eh? Got fins growing out of my sides now. Lastly, I luuuurv Chemistry, Physics and Geology. I love the first 'cause it's something I've bragging rights on, the second 'cause I find it absolutely practical, and the third...well, let's just say I love it for Love's sake.
SunfallE
My favorite classes have always been Science and Math. Ever since I took a class that touched a bit on different sciences I?ve always wanted more. So when I got my college degree I filled out a lot of my extra credits that I needed with different Science classes. They were always fun since most of the classes here would work in some type of field trip to one of the National Parks here in Utah to study some aspect of the actual park that related to the studies in class. Math was fun mostly due to a couple of great teachers I had. One would always include an extra credit question on all of the tests and I loved finishing the test and then spending the rest of the time figuring out the extra credit question. It was fun because the problems made sense and I liked the order and structure of how math problems worked. My least favorite subject would be English and History. English frustrated me because though I had no difficulty reading and understanding the texts, grammar frustrated me. To this day I still rely on my Word program to help with grammar and spelling issues. History frustrated me because I disliked how the text books were often written. Many of the books were excessively wordy, taking entire paragraphs to say that this person was the king of this country in this time frame. So I hated reading the books as it felt like I was swimming through a lot of nonsense just to get the facts. I enjoy learning about what happened, but the way the books were presented frustrated me to no end. One class that I never took and I?ve thought about taking if I return to school to get another degree is photography. There are five National Parks here in Utah and I?ve been to Yellowstone National Park many times and I?d love to learn how to do more when it comes to taking pictures. There are so many things I would love to go back and get a better picture of.
Mewprincess
My fav subject in school is Band. I LOVE BAND!!! So yea, music sorta runs my life lol. But there's also another reason too. I'm first clarinet, so yay! I love rubbing it in other people's faces. (i'm so evil :demon: My second favorite subject is English. I love writing short stories and poems during my free time, so when it comes to doing a graded assignment, I usually get 100%'s. So, the class is sorta like an easy A. I take Honors Geometry and I usually get A's, but come on, it's math! who likes math?? (unless ur some sort of a mathematician...) But considering my teacher is really cool this year, I think I'll actually enjoy it! :animesmil I absolutely DREAD PE!!! I can't run to save my life! I'm probably the only skinny person who's slow in running...it's so sad...
Riku
It seems that almost everyone's favorite subjects are electives and such, as they should be because they are fun. But I would have to say that some of my favorites are some which people would probably hate. Physics Apps. in the Community- It's the beginning to Physics, which helps you learn most of the formulas and things which makes it easier for me. It's actually pretty fun because my teacher is awesome and makes things sound pretty easy. English- What can I say? I love to read and do things that deal with our language of today. I must say I hate speaking in front of people and writing essays, but reading different books and plays are my turn on in this class. Art Studio- This class is so fun. All we do is draw different still- life's and contour drawings. We also draw anything else we want, so it's all a fun class in itself. My teacher always says I draw good, but I think she's lying. :P Chorus- I love to freaking sing and this class is my ultimate favorite. We always sing old yet awesome songs that make me want to sing it over and over. I'm a soprano, so I love singing the high notes. Yeah so I'm a school freak... so what? School is friggin' awesome if you get classes that you lilke. Other than that, you're probably screwed. :p
Anakoni Stark
well, let's see from freashman and [the currently ongoing] sophmore year they would have to be: Physics[Freshman] - I dont know why I found this science so interesting and so easy to understand, I just really liked that class. Biology[Sophmore] - we got to watch supersize me, we do expirments alot, enough said. Phys Ed - it's the only other way to get tennis practice in. Guitar I[Freashman] - at the end of that course, I managed to play a couple of songs, but I still suck Study Hall - I get to catch up on sleep! World History[Freashman] - we never really talked about world history... we talked more about current events and the such, it felt like a soicology class. Algebra I[Freashman] - the teacher never failed anyone. those are the courses that interested me. I know there are more, I'll find them eventually.
