The first Japanese role player on the 360, i bought, i played, and concluded that it was a worth while game to play, has anybody played this? It boasts superb visuals, and a gripping storyline, the fighting can get a bit tedious at times, but then again they are random encounters, what are your thoughts on this and Lost Odyssey (the second to be Japanese RPG for the 360)? xx

Enchanted Arms has intrigued me ever since I first heard about it. At first glance it seems like your traditional J-RPG, but when you look into it, you'll find all these new nuances that make it stand out. The golems are one of the major new things. It seems to be a bit like Pokémon, but in this game you can have several of golems AND human party members in the battle at the same time.

From personal p-o-w, I appreciate that there's an openly gay playable character in the game, although he could be less of a flaming queen. XP I've heard that
he changes during the game
, though. Anyway, it's a nice change.

My only problem is that I don't own an Xbox 360, and I don't know if I ever will. It's fortunately rumored that this game will be ported to PlayStation 3 as well. Yay for that! ;D

By the way, XWykesX, if you want to talk about Lost Odyssey, you should start a new thread for that. It isn't connected to this game in any other way except platform.

Thanks for the pointer...and yes the change that he makes is one of the big mysteries of the game, and it really helps the story to flow are make the player wonder wether it is him, or just a random guy. It seems that Enchanted Arms has the knack to keep the player wanting more and more, not so much because of the action involved throughout the game, but because of the story and the fantasy involved, fans of final fantasy 8 can relate to the game, as Enchanted Arms starts out in the same sort of situation, students in a university on the brink of a war, i must admit, one of the reasons i bought the game was because i heard it had hints of FF8 throughout. Moreover there are around 100 golems to collect on your journey, which i thought was quite a handful, i found that as soon as i aquired a new golem, it was used for a handful of battles, until i aquired new ones, this resulted in a huge batch of my golems stored in a shop, low level, never to be used again, it seemed a waste, but then again i suppose they are only there as a supporting act, its the main characters that matter, and thats what really drives the game. xx

Enchanted Arms is one of my favorite Xbox 360 games. I just recently beat it and it was great. I really appreciate the fact it can be switched from English to Japanese audio with subtiltles. The visuals were amazing and the plot was compelling , I really enjoyed the battle system as well. The problem was there was too much random battles for my liking making running from place to place a huge pain. I also didnt like how thre game treated you lie you were retarded." Allright Atsuma press A to climb the ladde"r.WTF? ANother thing that turned me off was the horrible mini missions for instance
rebuilding London City and proving Yuki's innocence
were really annoying and broke up the games story.

All and all its a highly enjoyable game thats worth a rent even though not everyone will like it some will love it. If you do get it however switch to Japanese VO youll thank me later ;)

I rented it the other day. I have to say that reviews led me to believe it was basically horrible, but honestly it's at least in "average" territory. I'd certainly put it up there with some of the more overrated RPGs that magically get 8s and 9s on mainstream review sites.

That's not to say it's amazing or even deserves great scores, but it is decently presented. The battle system, while a bit underexplained at first and somewhat messy, is certainly more interesting than the simple pick from a menu approach. I also enjoy that you can form your own "golems" to fight alongside you... which reminds me a bit of the Shin Megami Tensei games in a sense.

It's a pretty typical story, but the characters are, if nothing else, kind of goofy and therefore enjoyable. I've found the main bad guy (at least the main one in the first few hours, no idea if that changes) to be quite badass, which is always a plus.

It's not bad. Considering it's the only US released Japanese RPG on the system it doesn't have much competition... and I'm certain Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata (which are all getting US releases) will beat the hell out of it. For now I do think it's adequate.

Yes the games you mentioned will most definetly beat the hell out of this game. Enchanted Arms maybe a standard game but I really enjoyed. Of course its not high caliber like newly releasewd games like FFXII but its not a bad game at all. If Enchnated Arms does anything right its the sceneray which looks almost as good as Oblvion(of course its not vast ) its very linear but the sights are absoultely amazing to look at.

One thing to all people who reach the end of the game do not and I repeat do not
kill Toya
you will miss the true ending and a ton of achievment points.
