Where would you rather be?

I ask this out of curiousity...

I know everyone would rather be some where else.

My friends always say "I want to be in Hawaii or I want to go back to the west."

Personally, for me I rather be back in Anchorage, Alaska.

Why? 'Cause I grew up there in my early teens, that's where all the best memories were taken at and where all my great friends lie. It's home...

What's your reason to go?

Hmmm right now there are 3 places I would rather be.

The first would have to be anywhere snowboarding. I love snowboarding to death, it's anti-depressant and almost a religion for me. I'm not a big fan of the cold but it's so worth the trade.

Secondly I'd say some fantasy realm lol. Some place I could run around with a sword, spear, or whatever weapon and kill monsters or whatever. I've probably just been playing to many RPG's and watching too much anime but hey everyone got to have their escape.

Lastly, and the only location I'd say Japan. I'd love to live there for a period in my life, to just try and absorb the culture. I think that it would be such an eye opening experience, though I think traveling period is an eye opener.

I am pretty content with where I am right now, especially since it's about to snow, and you know what that means.

There is no particular place I want to be. Sure, I'd probably prefer to live in Japan or Brittain or Australia, but I don't really have any goals adhering to those places. Moving to one of them would cause way more frustration than solutions.

I guess if there would be a place I want to be it'd be in a studio or on tour making music, but until I have a band this is merely an aspiration. I'm working, though.

Since I'm moving to north carolina at the end of the year, i'd rather be here instend of being there. To me, jersey is like a home for me. I have all of my friends, my family, and good teachers. This is where i was born and grew up. When moving time occurs then i'm ready for the new life and the new change. but i'd rather live in jersey than north carolina...

Hmm... I'm really quite fine with where I am right now, but I suppose there are a few places I would rather live, all of them in what I consider to be the best country on earth, Canada.

Winnipeg, Manitoba: Winnipeg is one of my dream cities for one reason - it's bloody cold. It's not "Brr, chilly, eh?" cold, it's "If I blink I won't be able to open my eyes again" cold, and I love it. I wan't to go to the World's Coldest Intersection, and hang out in the World's Coldest Brothal. The city itself is also a really nice place, from what I've seen and heard, and it's definatly a place I'd like to visit.

St.John's, Newfoundland: I visited St.John's when I roadtripped across the province, and it absolutely rules. It's a city but it's very rural, the people there are very simple. There are some awesome retstaurents and some really neat views. It's generally a dream city for me... Plus St.George Street has the most Pubs/Square Meter on the continent, lol.

Ummm... That's about it. I'm not the kind of guy who goes "Man, I wish I was in Hawaii right now!" because I would never wish that. I'm very much adverse to the heat and I can't stand beaches (Friggin sand gets into every nook and even the smallest of cranines!), and I generally don't see the appeal. The only reason I could ever see myself leaving Quebec is because of the language issue... I'm a tremendously ****** french speaker, and it causes a lot of problems, most notably my inability to graduate highschool without a passing French mark...

Right now I'm a freshman and attend a university that is really alright, but the one thing I dot not like about it most is its location. It is away from what I would consider civilization and is surrounded on three sides by fields of hay, cows, wheat or whatever and to the front there's a major highway. Don't get me wrong, I like visiting the country like say in Alabama where my grandma lives, but I would rather not attend a school in such a setting.

If I had the choice, I would much rather be traveling as I went to school. A semester here, a semester there, simply anywhere else but this location!

Well there are basically three places besides England, I rather be in:

1. Okinowa, Japan - that's where I grew up for most of my life(thank goodness my parents are in the military) [for about seven years], albeit most of my friends have moved away [my crush moved out to England, ironically], I think that the culture and bright lights are something I really miss, this is considered my home island, I might be moving back at the end of the year.

2. Las Vegas, NV - I've only spent two years of my life out there, I miss so many things, the weather, my friends, the gambling, the screaming lights, and loud noise of Las Vegas Blvd, I'm deciding wheater or not I should move back due to psychological conficts.

3. Honolulu, HI - I was only six when I went, it was for a massive surgry on the left side of my body, I found the weather, and the landscape very breathtaking, I want to go back just for the sake of the surf, the landscape and the weather

Achorage, Alaska? That's really interesting. I've always been curious about Alaska, it being far up north away from the states and all. I would like to visit there one day.

As for me, I would like to live in the middle of a major city for a few months. I just want to be able to not drive a car, but go places, interesting crowded places. Plus, I'd like to be in a place with a crapload of people, and a busy atmosphere for a little while. I live pretty close to the city, but I don't get that feeling.

Another place I'd like to be is a cold place where the leaves change colors and the winter seasons are like what we study in elementary books. Orange/red leaves in the fall, snowflakes in the winter. I'd like to be in a place like that for a few months.

I was born in Achorage, Alaska. Though it hardly seems like home since i've moved all around since I was two. I would like to visit Helena, Montana because its an awome place to visit... boring to live. I'd like to visit L.A. area or any of orange county,, I love SF and the bay area, I love the whole cost all the way up highway 101 and all the way down 1. I'd rather be on the beach but only in california. I love the icy cold water and the sharks... adds a certain thrill to it no? lol santacruz is my main stomping ground when I'm not in sacramento. I usually stay in a hotel and eat the awome sushi in monterey and then cruz over to santa cruz to skate and surf and play on the board walk for at least a day. That's the best, and that sounds awsome to me. During the winter I just like going up to anywhere there snow.

I like chilling with my friends too. If I could pic the ultimate vacation. I would be in santacruz with my friends. Once I got in a major fight with my g/f and my parents were going to monterey for the weekends so I decided to go. and we went in two cars. I took my friend matt and went to santacruz we had ridden the rides and made ourselves sick and were chilling and I was just getting down about the fight I had, and this punk arse 12 year old kid came up to me with his midle school friends in a beenie and handed me one of those nasty aple cramel suckers, and was like. Bro its santacruz, you can't be bummed in santacruz. So we went to the arcade and were playing some serious initial D and we started hanging out with these dudes and we went out for dinner and met some girls and just had a good time.... SO basically that is where I want to be.

I would rather be in Flordia or Great America than being stuck here in my city. I mean I have everything that I want in walking distance but I want to go to rides and have fun with cooler weather or be in Flordia to
meet my friend that I met here on the OB.
Well I guess I'm stuck here until I get older.

Well, there are a few places I'd rather be than here. Right now, i'm a freshman in college, and I love it here, but lately, I've been getting homesick, so I want to go home. (I'm going home this weekend, heh)

Another place, which will sound kinda mushy, so shield your eyes if you don't want to hear it, but I'd rather be in the arms of my best friend (a guy, and yes, my ex-boyfriend). He was visiting me this past weekend, and it was just wonderful! *sigh*

And the last place I'd rather be is in Finland, my home country. I moved to the States when I was really small, but lately, i've been missing all of my friends and family back in good ol' Suomi. (And Sandy too! :D )

Good thread, Heero.

Canada is a great place, I drove through British Columbia and Alberta. I wouldn't mind living in Cargary or Edmonton.

Anywhere cool / cold. While I'm not the type to travel, and whatnot, I need to get out of Michigan ASAP. (or atleast Detroit) While I say cool / cold. I'm not the summer type either, and here in Detroit, we can get some blazing temperatures. (if it's not the temperature, it's the muggy-ness / humidity) While it's nothing compared to that of California, Texas, Florida, etc. I just can't stand the heat.

There's your occasional beach areas, casino's, (the only interesting thing here) malls, theaters. All that to me is boring. I need something new. My dad always tell me I need to go out and do something, and quitely frankly, there's nothing here. I've lost interest. Only thing I do is go job hunting.

Speaking of which, jobs have decreased here. (Laid off as we speak) And it's simply too hard to find one here. So yeah, I need a whole new experience altogether, and cool / cold climate.

I would rather be in Orlando, FL because all of my friends are down there going to see my favorite band. Tonight will be the third night Widespread Panic will be playing at the House of Blues there and I really want to go! Oh well, I'll just have to wait until this weekend to see them.

Over there!

Okay, seriously, in St. Louis. In's not too far from here, and I've been going there at least once a year since was...five. That, or New York City. Anywhere but Hickville here. I'm tired of the boonies and need the city life! Hehe.

Well, I'd rather live in a big city in Texas, I don't really care which one, probably Dallas, or Houston. But I basically just want to move there because nothing really cool ever happen's where I live now. And there's not a anime convention nowhere near here, and I mean like 100 miles away at the very least. So, yeah, Texas.......... Chuck Norris doesn't sleep.
Probably Zanzibar, Africa. I went their several years back and it had some of the greatest SCUBA diving sites I've been to.

Zanzibar is a great place to visit, no doubt, but if you were forced to live there, I think you'd change your team. Seriously, the bush monkeys will drive you friggin' crazy, and the periodical bloody coups aren't too pleasent either. Although I guess if you're really into clove it wouldn't be so bad... and I guess Freddie Mercury was born there, which is kinda cool, although the government there has put the kibash on any mention of Mercury for... you-know-why...

Anyway, another place I'd really like to go to is Finland. I've heard a lot of great things about the place, it produces some of my favourite hockey players, the people are supposed to be really nice, and I've heard nothing but good things about the uhh... buxomity of it's broads. The only problem is the language barrier; Finnish sounds really cool and all, but so far the only words I know are 'Suomi' (which means Finland) and 'Sisu' (Which I'm told means 'go,' although someone has told me it also means 'guts.')

*blink* That's really cool HedonismBot!

Being Finnish myself (though I live in the states, I go there often) I have to say that Finland is pretty cool. However, living there is something different. The winters are long and cold and dark (hence, the higher rate of suicide in the winter), heh heh.

But the people are all really nice and most of them speak English, so whenever I'm stuck on a word, they can usually help me. :D I'd recommend going to Helsinki, and to Pori, if you're there in July, then you can catch the world-renowned Jazz festival in Pori. Tampere, and Turku are nice cities too. :)

I want to be in my old house because I had so many memories there and everyone was happy there. I was happy. I didn't have a bad thing on my mind. I had a huge yard with a stream that led to this abandoned treehouse (actually two treehouses) and it was always a great day for me.

I'd also like to live in the city. The lights, the sounds, the smells, everything is so bright and exciting and your never bored!

I'd also like to go to Japan. It must be wonderful there. The streets are clean and you get to sleep on someone's shoulder on the train.

If there's one place I could be, for the rest of my life, I'd really love to be in Minnesota right now. You're thinking, "What the flux, Minnesota?" Well, that's where the love of my life is living, and I don't think I've ever needed her more than I do right now, due to some really jacked up circumstances that has to do with my being stabbed with a pen twice.

So yeah. If someone sends this little lovesick guy to Minnesota on a stroke of luck, I'll lick your shoes after you step in dog crap.

If you've ever been there, it's hard to imagine, but Houston is even more humid than Dallas is. :animesigh

Besides Dallas has tons of great things going on and if it weren't for the fact that I love living near mountains, I probably would have moved right back. ^_~

As for where I would like to be? If I had a choice I'd live close to YellowStone National park. So long as I have access to the Internet and an indoor swimming pool I'm a happy camper. And if I was close to the park I'd spend all my free time hiking, fishing and all sorts of things along those lines. :catgirl:

*Ponder Ponder*

There are a couple places I want to be but for now I really want to be in Denver. The Bronco's are doing really well this year. I want to see some of their games and its colder up there than it is here. I think they are getting snow up there right now :o

I want to see the sites also. Have some fun there. See a Bronco's game. I just really think it would be really really fun to see a pro football game - and of course snow.

*looks at someones post*

-edit edit-

Dallas traffic is nothing compared to Houston traffic :o
