"You got a nice crib here. It's so nice and warm and cozy," said Tankyo as she walked into the nice house.

"Glad you like it," said Kai.

"It wouldn't be too much to ask if we could stay for awhile?" asked Kaho as everyone took their cloaks off.

"Not at all, not at all. I love company since I don't have too much," said Kai with a big smile on his face.

"I'll crash on the couch if you don't mind? I like it better there," said Ruby as she walzted over the couch and laid on it.

"I'll go sleep in one of your bedrooms you got here," said Tankyo as she walked around to find one of the rooms.

As Ruby lay on the couch, she sniffed around it and scratched at it. Kaho looked at her and said," What's wrong?"

"She's probably just acting like a normal dog." Cali meowed. Ruby shook her head," I smell dog here ...and there and .. everywhere!!" she said exitedly.

"okay, just go to sleep. It'll all be fine." Umi said as she yawned almost purring.

Kai went into the kitchen and came back a few moments later with some drinks. "Please, help yourself." He set them on the dining table and sat down. "I know this place doesn't seem like much, but you may call it home if you wish. I have two bedrooms upstairs, two down here, and one in the basement. You all may pick which ones you want, I will take whats left over. Ladies first as they all say."He smiled and looked out the window.

"The reason I am so out here, there are alot of people that ask alot of questions in twon. Out here, they leave you alone. They rarely come to talk to me, only when something bad happens. You have nothing to worry about. Even if they knew you were here, my home is sanctuary. No one is permited to enter if they mean harm."

He looked up at Kaho and smiled. "Please make yourself at home. I do not want you all to feel like you are outsiders here. You have nothing to worry about." He smiled agian and looked in the doorway as his dog slowly made his way into the room.

"So, you really do have a dog." Kaho said, looking down at him.

"Yes, his name is Dixon. He is my best friend. Don't really know what I would do if he were not here with my. Without him, my life would seem a little boring." He laughed a little at the statement, then slowly stood up and stretched. "If any of you need anything, I will be out back, on the porch. You are welcome to join me if you like. It the door in the kitchen." He smiled and made his way on to the back porch. When he got outside, he sat down on the porchswing and started to rock it gently.

"Somehow, I think that this may work out for the better. IT amy get dangerous out there if they are all alone." He smiled to himself as he started to whistle with the wind.

"Well I guess I'll go take a room on the second floor," said Tankyo as she walked upstairs and then turning to the right to the room that lay there. "This is a nice room. I will suit me fine." She walked around the room and then over to the window. She looked out of it and then opened it to look and sit outside on the roof. "Just like it did at home." She started singing a little song.

Kaho chose the room usptairs. She walked up the stairs and saw the room where Tankyo went into an went into the other room. When she got there, there was a nice window and a cozy bed with a table and chairs. Kaho could see the light coming through the window and opened the window.

"Ahhh...that breeze feels really good," said Kaho. She walked back downstairs and went to the back porch with Kai. "Nice rooms you have here, Kai."

"Thanks. I try to keep it as neat and clean as I can in case I have any unexpected guests," he said.

"That's good. But it's sad because you must be very lonely out here with no one."

"Not really. I have my dog here with me so I have some company at least." When he said that he smiled and then looked sad. Kaho noticed this and looked up into the sky and said, "Whenever I feel lonely or sad I look up at the sky and know that others are seeing the same sky as I am then I don't get lonely anymore since people can see me anywhere by looking at the sky."

"I never knew that." Kai looked at the sky and began to smile.

"See what I mean? Even someone like you and me can look at the same sky and never have to be alone 'cause we know that we're looking at the sky together. It's pretty cool when you think about it."

Kai smiled to himself then looked down at the ground. He glanced over at Kaho, who was still looking at the sky. "Miss, can I ask you something? IT may be a little personal, and you may not know the aswer. But what you can tell me will help more than you know." He kept looking at the ground at she turned to look at him. He saw her nod out of the corner of his eye.

"Well, I wanted to know two things really, why exacally do normal people hate animas so much. What happened in the past that have made the two sides hate each other so much? And the other, is why have you and your companions dragged yourself into this war. We all know that there are multiple places that are peaceful and sancuaries for animas. One day I plan on going there and trying to help as much as possible. But for now, I am doing what I can. He looked at her with a little serious look and watched her look twards the ground.

"Please do not feel like you must answer that. Yoiu do not have to if I have traveled to a point that you do not want to discuss." He raised his hands in a way to show that he was innocent.

Kaho sighed and said, "Well I really don't know why. But I think that normal people don't like us because we're not human. We're half-breeds. They think that we would probably terrorize them and eat them or something but we don't. We would love to be with humans and share the world together. I guess that's never gonna happen."

"That's a good reason. So what about my next question?" said Kai.

"The truth is we're trying to look for the other anima. But sadly we can't find them. I've heard before that if we travel far enough away from the humans then we could find the land of the animas. It's supposed to have prosperous lands with tall mountains and peace for the animas."

"This is so totally nice. The night is cool and there is a crisp wind blowing. I hope that is what is there at the land of the animas. I how I hope but I made a promise to Kaho to not kill any humans that might not threaten us. But how I wish that I still could," said Tankyo as she stared into the night sky.

"in such a hurry to become a killer, Tankyo-sama?" Ruby said coming up beside Tankyo her nose to the wind. "What are you doing here, Blaze?" she asksed suspiciously.

"you know I just pop up everywhere.." Ruby said shrugging and smiling. Then she reached over and rubbed Tankyo's ears,"So fluffly :catgirl: " Ruby smiled. Tankyo stood still. Then she kicked Ruby off the roof.

"Come back when you get some common sense!!" Tankyo shouted to Ruby as she layed sprawled on the ground looking up at the night sky. "Mmm.. common sense, that's gonna be hard.." Ruby said smiling quietly.

"Whatever happened in the past is in the past and is evecting the future where we're now. I still wish that I could go back and change the past to make the future so that both anima and humans are living together in happiness. That's only a dream but I know that now I could to that very thing and help anima and humans become friends. But I would need help," said Kaho.

"I'll help you out to make the dream come true," said Kai.

"Really!? Thanks so much! I really hope that we can pull it off," shouted Kaho in excitement.

Rita swam idly in her territory, recovering from a particularly nasty bout with funny woman in the nets. She was always after Rita, but Rita didn't care. It helped to keep things interesting. Her head broke the surface of the water, and Rita shook her head a little, flinging water droplets everywhere. No sign of the funny woman in the net. This was her chance to snaek out of the water again! She didn't get many chance to do this, with that wierd woman watching her, so she leapt on the chance and dove back under water swimming for shore.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ari cursed. She'd lsot track fo that Anima again. The stupdi thing was a hazard to anyone in the area. The beach could probably be declared safe once that beast was out out of here. Ari just muttered darkly and continued to wring the water out of her clothes. That stupid fish was too fast in the water, next time she'd have to come better prepared and bring some scuba gear. She pulled the satchel and her Kodachi off her back and set them on the dock in front of her, some of the contents spilling out. Luckily, the satchel was waterproof and water tight. And the sheathing on her Kodachi kept the water out. She finally gave up on wringing her clothes out, and grabbed her things. "I guess I'll head home. Mariko is probably worried anyways..." She muttered

Rita had swam to shore and found a town. She got out of the water and put on some clothes and a hood to keep people from not spotting her as an anima. She walked through the town and before she got to the end she saw a house with an anima on the roof. She went over to the house and knocked on the door.

Kai got up from his and said, "Wait here Kaho, I've got it."
He walked to the door and didn't notice that Kaho had followed him. He opened the door and saw a girl with a hood on over her head and some capris and a shirt on. Kaho immediatly said, "Rita? Rita! It's you! I can't believe it you've actually got here!"

Kai said, "So this is another anima. Come on in. We've got room."

"Thanks," said Rita as she walked in carefully making sure nothing was a trap.

"It's okay Rita. Kai here is on our side and wouldn't do anything to harm or betray us. So relax. I'm sure that there's at least two rooms downstairs that will be nice," said Kaho in an exciting voice.

"my clothes are dusty.." Ruby said patting herself off. She entered the living room and saw another figure with Kaho and Kai. "Rita-chan how are you?" Ruby smiled.

"Hello Ruby.. why are you covered in dust?" Rita asked pointing at her clothes. "oh.. I fell off the roof, nothing much" Ruby said offhandedly.

They all raised eyebrows at this, Ruby said nothing and headed towards the kitchen.

"So I see that Ruby's here. Is there anyone else here?" asked Rita.

"Ah, yes there is someone else. Tankyo is here. I believe she's in her room on the second floor. You should go see her when you make yourself at home that is," said Kai.

"Well I'm going to the back for some fresh air. I want to look up at the sunsey before it sets," said Kaho walking to the kitchen to the back door.

"I'll go to. Rita, make yourself at home and don't hesistate to ask me anything," said Kai as he walked to the kitchen.

Kai went onto the back porch holding a drink. He handed it to Rita and smiled as she took a sip. "Its sweet tea. One of my favorite drinks, so you will see alot of it here. I know you do not know me, but trust me, I mean no harm. I hate to see people, and animas alike, die for no reason. Its pointless." He looked at the sky then sighed.

"Is something wrong, Kai? Anything I can do?" Kaho said, looking up at him.

"No, its nothing. Listen, I will be back in a few hours. I have to go to town and get a few more suplies. I didn't think that there would be more showing up, so we are a little understocked." He put his hand on her shoulder then walked back into the house. He picked his sword up that was sitting in the corner of the room and strapped in to his back.

"Going somewhere?" Ruby said, looking over at him.

"Got to go to the store. Not enough food. You are welcome to come if you like? Just in case you think I may go and tell everyone in town that you are all here. Trust me, I wont." He gave her a comforting smile as he put his coat on over his sword and headed out the door. He looked around then started walking down the path twards the town.

About twenty minutes later, he made it into town and looked around. He waved at the poeple he knew and smiled at the ones that smiled at him. The people in town knew him, but not well. They just knew him as a person who liked to live by himself, alone. Boy, were they all wrong.

He made his way into the local market and baught a few more suplies, then started heading on his way home when he ran into someone.

"Hey, not watching where you are going?" Kai turned to see a girl and smiled. "Its ok, I guess neither of us were."

"I am sorry. My name is Kai Kenske. I am truely sorry for running into you. My head is in the clouds a little bit." He gave a unneeded laugh as he put his hand on the back of his head. He looked at the girl who onle smiled.

"My name is Ari Hawking. I havent seen you around here before. You live near here?" She had a look of wonder on her face as she said it, like she knew something he didn't.

"Me, no. I am just passing through. I am just looking around the countryside, trying to find someone. Who knows, maybe they are in this place, but I doubt it, its not their type of place." He looked around and nodded. "Well, it was nice meeting you, but I think its about time I left. I have a long way to go before I get home, so goodbye." He gave a small wave and smiled as he turned around.

"Yes, hopefully, we may meet agian." She said as he made his way out of town.

After another twenty minutes, the sun had set. He had to use the moonlight to see the path back to his home. As he walked up to the door, he smiled as he saw Kaho, Ruby, and Rita sitting on the porch talking like old freinds.

"Welcome back. Find everything you need?" Kaho asked, standing up to help him.

"Yeah, now lets get dinner started, and because you are all my guests, I think I will cook us something." He smiled as he walked into the kitchen and started to make dinner.

Rita shifted a little uncomfortably as she amde her way around the house. She wasn't really used to being in social situations much, and people outside of her small group of recognizables always made her a little twitchy. She never really knew many Anima, but here were several all at once. Good thing the net girl had never heard of this place. She'd have a field day with it. Although, Rita had taken a quick liking to the wild dog one. No, it was wolf. Not wild dog. Rita tried hard to remember the different animals that would be associated with these other anima. She hadn't had to speak in many years, so her vocabulary was a little lacking. Although interacting with the net woman had taught her many an interesting word.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ari kept a watchful eye on the boy as he left. He was an oddball, and oddballs always made her suspicious. There was nothing really wrong with him, not at all. He actually seemed like a decent kid. But loners tended to have odd ideas. And odd ideas can spell trouble. And more often than not, anima were at the root of a lot of trouble. And someone as alone as him might get the idea that it would be alright to be a companion with an anima. Ari sighed in frustrationa dn shook her head a little to clear it. She really had to stop overanalyzing things. For now she'd have to figure out where that other anima from the beach went. She'd found the tracks that the thing had left behind when it exited the water. She finally stopped and looked up at one of the windows in an older apartment building. Before she left for the night, she'd stop in with Mariko. Cook her up some dinner and see her off to bed.

Tankyo came downstairs from her room since she smelled some food cooking. "What ya making?" she asked as she went to smell the food.

"I'm making some soup and bread since it's cold out," said Kai as he gave her a little smile.

"Smells good," said Kaho coming up behind them.

Tankyo went over to the couch and sat on it with Ruby. "This sure is a real nice house. And it is also so big too," said Ruby.

"Yeah," said Tankyo as she gave out a sigh.

"Why the long face?"

"It's nothing. Just reminds me of my home with my family before I had to run away in order to save them."

"Oh, I see."

"Need any help Kai with making dinner?" asked Kaho.

"No, I've got everything under control. Why don't you go do something while this is cooking," replied Kai.

"Okay, I'll be outside. I like the fresh air and the moon looks beautiful tonight. Well see ya' when the food's done," said Kaho as she walked out the door. Tonight sure is beautiful. I hope that from the sky I can see the town at night. I love to see towns at night.

Kaho thought all those things and spread her wings and flew up into the sky. She landed on top of a tree. She looked out to the town to see that there were lights on in the town. It looked like stars on the ground.

Tankyo looked at her for a while longer. " You try to and its the last thing you eil do." She threatened.

"Fine.." Ruby sighed, "It is warm in here is this what a house feels like? This warm?" she asked looking at the comfyness everywhere.

Kaho just soared through the sky trying not to get too far from the house. She loved how the breeze was in her face and she loved to spread her wings and fly through the sky. She flew back to the house and landed by the door. She opened the door and said, "That was some nice fresh air. I really needed it."

Kaho walked over to the counter where the soup was cooking and stared at it and watch how the flames were moving under the pot.

Ruby sniffed the soup, "I'm hungry "she realized and said aloud. She wandered into the kitchen. She found Kaho and Kai hard at work.

"Can I help with anything?" She asked. Kai said," you could set the plates, if you don't mind." Ruby nodded.

She took the plates and tried to juggle them," I wouldn't do that if I were you.."Tankyo said snatching one of the plates and setting it firmly on the table.

"Fine.." Ruby sighed and finished setting the bowls and forks.

Kaho watched as the fire under the pot fasinated her. She loved to look at fire. She never knew why but she thought it was entertaining to see how it moves and how beautiful the colors are. She stood up and looked at Kai and asked, "Is there anything that you need help with?"

"Well if you don't mind you can watch the pot and wait until the it boils or when there are bubbles constantly popping at the top of the soup. I need to go do something and I don't want to over boil it," said Kai.

Kai walked over to the fridge and opened it. He looked around for a moment, then pulled something out and smiled. He walked over to the cubbord and then pulled out a bowl. He set the steak in the bowl and then walked out to the back porch, Dixon fallowing him. He set the bowl on the floor and then walked back into the house, and over to the stove, where Kaho was pulling the pot off of the fire.

"It started to boil, so I took it off. Is that ok?" She asked, looking over at him.

"Of course, that means its ready." He looked around as the last of the animas came into the house and into the kitchen. "Alright everyone. Go ahaid, take a bowl and a plate and dig in." He watched as they all got themselves some soup and bread, then sat down to eat. He smiled then sat down himself.

"This is delicious. You are a very good cook. Where did you learn to cook like this?" Ruby asked, sipping on the soup.

"My grandmother tought me how to cook. Its really nothing." He giggled, then looked around the table. Everyone seemed like there was nothing wrong in the world, but down deep, he could tell that it was a lie. The world was vast, yet the human race acted like there was no room for any of them.

"So, whose turn is it to cook tomarrow?" He smiled as everyone turned to him.

"I can cook. I was taught by my human parents when I was young. I can cook practically anything as long as I have the right ingredients," said Tankyo as she ate more of her soup.

"That's cool. I'll you too," said Kaho.

"Thanks."

"No problem."

They all ate their dinner and started heading towards their rooms for bed. Tankyo walked to her room and sat on the window seel. 'It's so nice out tonight. I wish the world would stay like this forever,'thought Tankyo as she looked into the night sky.
