Missing Concerts

Many of you may know that my favorite band of all time is AFI. Some of you may also know that Rasputina is probably my second favorite band.

About a week or two ago, I got an email from Rasputina's website announcing some new shows. One of my qualms about Rasputina was that they never came to my state, and most of the time they were just announcing new shows in other places through their emails. So when I skimmed over it, I wasn't really paying that much attention. Then I noticed something along the lines of "We're coming to F-L-O-R-I-D-A!" I didn't give it much thought at first, then realized what it meant. I was so overcome with joy that I could hardly move. Seeing Rasputina in concert is on my list of things to do before I die.

Then I looked at the venue they're playing in a city about two hours from here (the closest of their four shows), and my heart sank. It's an eighteen and up only venue.

I slowly got over it and went about my life. Then, last night, I was looking at bulletins on Myspace. AFI had posted one titled "AFI to Headline (something something) Orlando "No Snow Show!" Again, because AFI NEVER comes to Florida, I overlooked it. Then I did a double take, read the bulletin, and almost started crying. Seeing AFI in concert is probably my NUMBER ONE thing to do before I die on that list I mentioned earlier. I wanted to go so badly, until I noticed a big problem. They're playing December 1. A Friday. At 3 PM.

I don't get out of school until 2:45.

I find it hard to believe that my two favorite bands are going to be in the same place within a week of each other and that I can't even go to either of them! The wait hasn't been but about a year or so with Rasputina, but AFI has been my favorite band for three years. And they seriously -never- come to Florida...ever. Either I find a way to go to that show or wait three more years, when I'm out of school and living in New York.

Has anyone else ever missed a show or concert they really wanted to go to? Feel my pain. =(

Gaw, yes. I wanted to go to Franz Ferdinand so badly, this summer. So I looked at their site and it said something about the dates being known and ticket sale starting soon. The next time I checked it was sold out already. <<;

Last year, the concert was in the middle of a school year and I doubted about buying tickets too long. They were sold out when I decided, of course. >>;

You can't get out of school for that? I'd go.. its worth one day of makeup work...

Anyway, only very recently did I start to get into music. As I did, all the bands I found out about were just having tours it seems.

First one was Coheed and Cambria who, when I first heard of them, were touring with Avenged Sevenfold. I had only heard one Coheed CD, which I did like, but I'd nevre heard anything by Avenged really. About a month later I fell in love with Coheed and had their 3rd cd and I also had picked up Avenged and liked them, but when I looked it up, I was too late to see them.

Also, I am a HUGE Tool fan as some may know, and I only found out a while ago that they were coming to my area soon and the only tickets left are like 100 dollar lawn tickets (hell no...) even my assistant principal has tickets!!!
Skip school. Drive to Orlando. Unless you can't drive for whatever reason, that's the simplest solution.

Unfortunately, I don't even have my learner's permit yet. Besides, I could never skip school; I can't be a bad kid at all, even if I wanted to.

Well, anyone who has seen my older posts in this forum should know by now that my favorite band is Circle Takes the Square, they're a nice screamo outfit from Savannah, Georgia. Well, I had never gotten to see them, still haven't.

Well, on my birthday last year, they were set to play a show within walking distance of my house (!). So yeah, I go there, and there's a sign on the door of the venue saying that CTTS wouldn't be able to make it tonight, their van broke down just after they left the Georgia border and they couldn't get another ride going and still make it to the show.

Still the show was awesome, it introduced me to I Would Set Myself On Fire For You, my new second-favorite. I just wish CTTS could have been there to make it even better.

So, I didn't miss a concert, but it felt like I did. It's the most significant concert loss to me, haha.
