pooperson
Last year, my high school split into a second high school [I go to the old one], and these past two weeks have been Homecoming weeks for the old & the new schools. They've been very exciting -- lots of traditions have come back and begun again. Last Saturday was my high school's homecoming dance, but I couldn't go because of Marching Band, so I am going to the NEW school's dance today with some of my friends. So my questions for y'all: 1. Have you ever attended a homecoming dance? If so, what was it like? Was the music good? What kind of dress did you wear?, etc. 2. How does your school celebrate homecoming? 3. What has been your favorite homecoming experience? Here are my answers. 1. Yes - 2 years ago, and tonight. It was a bunch of fun, I just went with my soon-to-be boyfriend and a few friends. The music sucked, but it was still fun... My dress was a black halter, knee-length... it was gorgeous! It sucked though because my crush at the time went with one of my friends, and I thought they were going out... that wasn't so much fun. Plus, I didn't really know many people except for those who I came with. But still, it was a good time. Tonight's should be better though! =] I'll be seeing all my old friends who go to the new school. 2. We have all sorts of crazy stuff. We have a dodgeball tournament [which is actually really cool!] with a bunch of crazy teams from our school... We have a bonfire, which is LOUD. I've never been there, but it's right by my house, & I can hear it! Our powderpuff football game is Jr's vs Sr's, and it's SO CRAZY!!! We adore it! There's lots of cheating too ;] ... And then, of course, there is the pep rally, which includes a Dance Contest, Chariot races [where people build chariots and race them around the track], performances by the cheerleaders & all them, obstacle courses... it's a load of fun! 3. Hopefully tonight! Feel free to share! :D
Mr. Maul
The homecoming dance at my school is a big joke. Actually, all the dances at my school are jokes. Except for prom, but that's different. Only freshmen and losers go to the school dances here. Our school celebrates the same as other schools, I imagine. Special dress-up days (school colors, hex day, etc...), float building, parade, what have you. My favorite homecoming was freshman year. I don't know why, but it was. And Taperson, you're just now having homecoming?? I had mine over a month ago.
Sangome
Our school's homecoming is tonight, but I'm not going. The whole affair sounds boring to me, geh. Call me crazy, but I can dance at home and have more fun. *sneezes* Though we had a homecoming parade yesterday, as well as a homecoming pep rally, and those are always fun, heh.
eleanor
Our school has a "spirit week", which is actually pretty fun. Each day we assign a theme (i.e. Cowboy day) and dress up accordingly. We've made Harry Potter day an official one. P: But it's not a huge deal or anything. This year my friends and I are possibly going laser-tagging for homecoming.
Japan
When I was in high school, I was never a big fan of dances. Especially after Freshmen year I was stood up by my date. But that is another story. The only homecoming dance I had fun at was when I was at my friend's house playing Halo 2, eating pizza, and drinking coke. Now that was the best ever. The dances are all very lame. You were not allowed to wear shoes. They only play hip hop and rap. People get away with doing inappropiate stuff like mooning, and they hold proms at the most ridiculous places.
Demoness Satoe
I'm not really a big fan of dances. If I go, it's either to meet up with my friends, or it's because I have nothing better to do with myself for the day. I mean, I'll go, but I won't dance.
Eli
1. Have you ever attended a homecoming dance? If so, what was it like? Was the music good? What kind of dress did you wear?, etc.
Actually, I attended all four of my homecoming dances-- and this year, I'll actually go to prom, hehe. (I would have went last year, but stupid things happen, ya know?) Everything was always brill-- no barmy fights or lame music. We had some pretty good DJ's, and I hope it stays like that when I'm gone. If anything else, I alway wore short n' sassy dresses that fit our theme. (Like, this year's was Hollywood themed, so mine was definitely sparkles and up-do's. Showah.)
2. How does your school celebrate homecoming?
We go all out: Decorating the school, having spirit week, etc. Actually, Spirit Week happened just last week, and was super brill. My favorite day was Hero Day; me and my best friend dressed up as Mario and Luigi, and threw fireballs at people all day.
3. What has been your favorite homecoming experience?
Well, this year's was the both the best and the worst. The best: I won a lot of things (not to mention I started a huge congo line, and other such things- but hey!). The worst: We only had about a little more than an hour to party, due to a bomb threat. I guess you could say this is my favorite-- but being a senior (especially knowing I won't be living here anymore) is disheartening.
Anakoni Stark
my homecoming was last night.
Have you ever attended a homecoming dance? If so, what was it like? Was the music good? What kind of dress did you wear?
1 A] this was my first homecoming 1 B] it rocked, it coulda been better though. 1 C] I say the music didnt suck but it wasnt good either, massive amounts of hip hop, one Fall Out Boy song, one Panic At The Disco song, and really horrible techno. 1 D] the motif was james bond, so, I was in a suit jacket [with the fixings and this killer two colour, black and silver tie] and a pair of dark gray slacks
2. How does your school celebrate homecoming?
spirit week and the powederpuff [role reversal] football games
3. What has been your favorite homecoming experience?
this was my first homecoming, I found the 007 motif with the dirty dancing pretty awesome, they also got the enitre crowd to mosh and do the YMCA thing. I also learned how to slow dance that night. [not joking] I also found out that a friend of mine was my date and she didnt tell me til the end of the night, I found that really awesome. リョ ン フリ
Retribution
I attended homecoming freshman year, and senior year (last night). I didn't really bother with sophomore or junior years. Freshman year my experience was lukewarm, which is why I didn't go to the next two, but this year was great. The music was mostly rap, but that made it even more fun. Who wants to jump up and down to Fall Out Boy when you can learn steps? I wore a black suit with a white shirt, and a mostly green tie with white stripes. Pretty much everyone looked sharp, which was cool. We had a powderpuff football game, spirit week, and the actual homecoming game. I didn't attend any of those activities (save spirit week), mostly because I had no transportation. Anyway, the dance is a huge deal at my school... we sold out of tickets, and about 700 people came (my school has 800 people). And my favorite homecoming experience was last night. Towards the end of the night, my friends and I danced like fools, and that was very fun.
