Andrew
I figure someone's bound to ask this sooner or later so it may as well be me. Are we all going to be starting together in one big mesh or will we start as individuals or smaller groups? Maybe you'll address this when you start the actual play thread but my impatience got the better of me, so apologies for that. Also, is this going to follow the traditional order of the region, like Viridian City, Viridian Forest, Pewter etc... or is there room for diversity? I'm quite excited about this actually, my first RPG in a long while and what looks to be my first serious Pokémon RPG, so thanks for the opportunity. Maybe you'll address this when you start the actual play thread but my impatience got the better of me, so apologies for that.
I was going to say that the choice is up to you; you can start off solo if you please, or you can pair up with someone. The choice is up to you.
Also, is this going to follow the traditional order of the region, like Viridian City, Viridian Forest, Pewter etc... or is there room for diversity?
Well, it would be kind of hard to skip from Pallet Town in one post and end up in Goldenrod City the next, so I would say to stay in order (especially for my sake, since I havent played Pokemon in four years! XD), but if you can think of a plausible reason to do that, you're more than welcomed too. I can't promise the good health of your Pokemon tho. :-P
Andrew
Right you are boss, thanks for clearing that up. On the whole diversity thing I was thinking maybe the Kanto towns could be visited in a different order. Not that I really feel the need to, it's just nice to know the order can be moved around if it's needed.
Doublehex
Well, like I said the choice is completley up to you.
Random
Random question time! First off, when are you planning on getting this thing up and running? Second, would you be able to put up a "final accepted" list? Makes it easier to see who all will be RPing. Thirdly, although it's been stated already, sorta, are we all starting together in the same town? As in, when it starts, are all of our characters going to be in the same town, starting the adventure there...or are we going to be spread out across the lands? ~Random
Doublehex
Random question time![/SIZE']
No pun intended? XD
First off, when are you planning on getting this thing up and running?[/SIZE']
When my friend, RiflesAtRecess, posts. If he tells me he's not gonna to, then right when that happens, I'll post. It will be up absolutley bu tommorow, I promise.
Second, would you be able to put up a "final accepted" list? Gavin
Interesting, most interesting. I was just wondering, seeing as we're all going to be travelling either solo, in pairs or in groups in a similar direction how gym battles are going to be conducted ? As obviously we all intend to beat the gym leaders in our paths.

It would obviously be one on one, since Kohto gym leaders always used just one Pokemon.
Andrew
I think what Gavin is asking is how will each of us carry out the battle. Since there's at least 10 or so of us, do we have to wait around while each other person battles and will there be an order and what not? Do we decide if we win the badge or will you act as gym leader as well and so on.
Doublehex
Ah, I see what you guys are saying.
do we have to wait around while each other person battles and will there be an order and what not?
If there was a much lesser amount of you, that would be the case. But since theres like 11 +, I'll have it so that the Gym leader has assistants who are all very powerfull. Realistically, I think that would be what would happen anyways.
Do we decide if we win the badge or will you act as gym leader as well and so on.
Unless I see that most of you guys are acting immature about it, you guys will be the ones to decide. Ellerby
Well, technically we wouldn't have to do it in order (if Doublehex said so, at least). In the actual game you have to do it in order, but that's only because they need some way of controlling where you are and when so you can't go to some powerful place with just a level 5. However, in the anime it's quite the opposite. There are times when they've introduced people that only had certain badges in no specific order. It's also good to note that in Ruby/Sapphire, Norman isn't the first gym leader you fight but he is in the anime for Ash (I think, :p). But that doesn't mean anything for this, hehe.

It will be kind of tough for me to control the plot though... (yes, there is a plot beyond Gym leaders! Did you honestly expect anything less from me?). Wullf_Maximas
ok, here?s one or two. 1: What about leveling our pokemon? I know it goes without saying we can't go from a Charmander to a Charizard in one battle. However most of the Pokemon actually have odd Real Life, real life being from the anime more or less, criteria to meet. Like Cubone is suppose to evolve once he/she no longer feels lonely. 2: What about catching other pokemon? Can we catch pokemon that do not appear in an area from the game? For instance in the game you can?t catch a Dratini on Route 2 in the game, but can we (with a good reason) catch one on Route 2.

Have the evolution leevls eb spread out however - evolving should be a pretty bign deal, so it should not be a common event.
2: What about catching other pokemon? Doublehex
Well, I am sure that the people who we are waiting for WILL post, since they are mature roleplayers. But in the case that they dont post by evening tomorrow, I will move on without them and tehy will have to think of some other method to get their Pokemon. Vicky
Figured I'd join in and ask a question myself. Dunno if this has already been answered but... meh. What about attacks? I'm sure our characters won't know when the Pokemon learns a new attack straight away, all I know is that on the games it pops up and tells you like the levels but in the anime it's... weirder (is it just me or did Charizard learn Ember at one point whilst Charmander knew flame thrower from the beginning? O_o). The only thing I can think of is the Pokemon suddenly does an attack half way through a battle (again I'm thinking of the anime) buuuuuuuut Pokemon don't level up through battles... (wild battles, I mostly mean). I hope I'm not being an annoyance, I'm just not sure how we'd go about Pokemon learning new attacks. And I apologise if the question's already been answered; it's late, dangit >_<
Doublehex
I have actually been thinking about it myself. I was thinking of treating pokemon learnign new attacks as humans would in a more 'serious' setting - through expierence. They learn new tactics, master new startegies, uncover more potential within themselves. I am not gonna have my pokemon be totally dependant on my character to do attacks - they will do things as they see fit. They may trust him, but in battles, there are no rules. No masters. Just win. GuyYouMetOnline
I have a question about Pokemon moves. Are our Pokemon restricted to moves they can learn in the games, or can they learn other moves? I realize that they wouldn't be able to learn any moves (for example, water-types wouldn't learn fire-type moves), but what about moves that ake sense for the Pokemon. For example, in the games Absol cannot learn Earthquake, but since Absol is the Disaster Pokemon, it makes sense that Absol should be able to learn Earthquake. So, are we resticted to the games' movesets, or not?

I guess Absol using Earthquake makes sense in the way that he's the Disaster Pokemon, but how we he start one? Magic? And you'd have to be very strict on the type moves aswell. Just because one Pokemon is Ground doesnt mean he can learn all the Ground moves. For instance, Manmuu is an Ice/Ground type Pokemon but he isn't going to be running around using Bonemerang. Something to think about. :)
Doublehex
Well, I don't want Pokemon learning moves in a sesne. They will learn tactics and startegies, but not moves. For example, Cubone can learn to use his bone as a boomerang, but it won't be identified as a move. Just a tactic it developed.
Tekkaman
I think that's a good idea - letting the Pokemon learn strategies. But, of course, we wouldn't yell "Now do what we talked about yesterday!" or some crazy paragraph to our Pokemon in order to have them do what we want, right? Call me crazy, but I think that's why whoever created Pokemon invented one-word movesets instead of going into descriptive detail. Anyway, I still think that your idea is a good one Doublehex. I just think that you'll have to explain more in detail how you want us to communicate to our Pokemon when it comes time for an actual battle. ...If you dont mind, that is...
Doublehex
Well, for me, I actually wasn't go to do any actual talking during my battles. After all, we are TRAINERS, not Gods here. We TRAIN our pokemon, but beyond that, they have to act on their own intuition. Of course, Matt will be a unique case that you'll figure out once he gets to Mt. Moon, so what I have in mind will be easiar for me.
