Azure shook her head and smiled at Ronyo.
"It's not the same to just catch one like this, I want to raise it from a Weedle."
Ronyo nodded and lead the way past the Beedrill and on through tht forest.
"So. You seem to know this place really well, I guess you did spend alot of time here."
"I told you, everyone says I praocticlly lived here."
"Yeah, I know you can tell by your mail box."
She giggled as a slight blush ran over his cheeks.
"Don't worry, it's not always a bad thing."

She hopped ahead and bent down to look at a flower and looked back up at the boys and smiled, she hopped backa nd stood behind Ronyo.
"Lead the way fearless leader."
He looked at her and frowned.
"Whatever."
She smiled and saluted him mockingly and followed as she walkd on.
Turbine half-whined, half-demanded that the three teens head towards the PokéCenter once they had made it to Pewter City. Between facing off a group of thugs while still on a moving car and having to deal with a huge swarm of Beedrill, Turbine and Fusha had had enough. She complained a few more times before realizing that she hadn't wanted to join the other two in the first place, and turned and walked towards the PokéCenter without them. She did it without so much as a 'good-bye', too, somehow sure that she'd bump into them again, whether she liked it or not.

The two of them were in and out of the PokéCenter in a matter of minutes, and Turbine huffed quietly to herself about how impatient the other girl must have been to not want to drop by the building for a couple of minutes. Then again, who was she to talk? Fusha, still out of her pokéball, flew towards a small garden, Turbine picking up her pace a bit to catch up. Inside the garden fence of colorful bushes was a man watering perfectly-maintained grass and flowers, a small walkway, and a bench. Fusha fluttered down in front of the bushes and began pecking at them. Turbine entered the garden after her pokémon, receiving wary glances from the gardener as she walked along the pathway, and sat down on the bench to observe.

Fusha pecked curiously, as if looking for something inside of the wall of plants. It only took a couple of minutes for her to be hit back after biting down lightly on the arm of a Roselia. Turbine giggled at her pokémon's startled tumble backwards and embarrassed squawking. They spent another half hour or so sitting in the peaceful place, appreciating the calmness of it more than anything else. They finally got up and walked towards Route 3 to the west of Pewter City.

The two of them ran into several wild pokémon, including rather angry Spearow, a couple Mankey, and even a Jigglypuff or two. Turbine didn't catch any of them, finding them either too spirited or pink for her liking. They also were challenged by several young trainers looking to train their pokémon so they could take on Brock. But to both their and Turbine's surprise, Fusha continued to out-maneuver and over-power her opponents.

"You're getting really good at this," Turbine told her partner, still surprised at the winning streak the little black bird had going. "I bet we can take on Brock, too, no sweat," she grinned. Despite the brave talk, she held very little confidence in Fusha. Her improvement from her first battle with the wild Pikachu in the Viridian Forest, no matter how great, far from guaranteed a victory against the gym leader. The continued battling past sundown and were headed back towards the city around two in the morning when something strange floated into Turbine's head.

Blinking for a moment, she saw a pair of yellow, upside-down hearts attached to string in front of her face. Looking up, she saw these strings were attached to what looked to be a balloon with tape and a cloud on top of it. When the balloon floated down to be eye level with her and blinked a few times itself, Turbine figured it was actually a pokémon. She looked over at Fusha, hovering beside her quietly, and back at the pokémon. She thought a for a moment before pulling an empty pokéball off her belt. But at the sight of it, the strange balloon creature decided to flee.

"Worth a shot, anyway," she sighed, returning it to her belt and continuing on back towards the city.

---

The bed in the PokéCenter was much more comfortable than the bench she had slept on the previous night. Turbine had gone to bed almost as soon as she got a room. Fusha was in her pokéball when Turbine got up, and was let out soon after. The two strolled into town to grab some breakfast before heading to the gym. Despite her lack of confidence, Turbine was determined to go there today and at least try for the badge.

She saw glimpses of other trainers from Pallet while walking around, but put no effort into acknowledging them at all, even if they spotted her, too. Whether they thought she was strange or rude, she really didn't care, though, at times, she felt like she was being watched and followed. But she shrugged off the feeling, blaming it on her anxiousness for her upcoming battle with Brock. She finally found a small restaurant and ordered some pancakes and a bag of 'pokéchow', she called it, for Fusha. They ate quickly and headed for the gym.

There was a crowd of people outside, and she figured there must be a battle going on. Pushing her way through the group, she headed for the door and forced her way inside. Sure enough, she spotted Brock facing off with two kids from Oak's meeting. Looking around, she saw the boy she had met yesterday and chuckled.

"Surprise, surprise," she smiled with a sarcastic tone, Fusha fluttering her feathers as she recognized the boy as well. She saw him look over, but he didn't say or do anything further, so she figured she'd explore the gym while waiting her turn. While walking around, she noticed the rock and ground-themed setting of the building. Not watching where she was going, she bumped into a young boy. "Sorry," she mumbled, continuing on her way, but the boy yelled for her to wait.

"You're here to face Brock, right?" he asked, his face so serious it made Turbine laugh. "Shut up and answer the question!"

"Well I can't do both, now can I?" she asked, growing tired of his big-boy act. "But yes, I'm here to face Brock. What of it?"

"I'm his best disciple! You've gotta take me on first if you want to fight him!" the boy challenged. Turbine rolled her eyes and started to turn away when the boy threw out his first pokémon and shouted at her again. "You aren't going anywhere 'till you beat me!"

"Fine," she replied in an annoyed tone. She nudged her head and Fusha obediently flew off her shoulder and in front of the young boy's Geodude. The dark pokémon had little trouble dodging the attacks thrown her way, but was unable to do much damage. It took several minutes for her to finally land a blow that did a good amount of damage.

"Heh. You should know flying-pokémon don't do well against rock or ground pokémon," the boy grinned in a smug tone. His know-it-all behavior only made Turbine madder at him. He may have been younger than her, but she was not past beating him into a pulp for annoying her this much.

"That's true. But my Murkrow's a dark pokémon, too," she replied. Almost immediately, Fusha disappeared in a familiar black mist, leaving the boy and his pokémon to look around hopelessly. But before she could reappear to finish her attack, the Geodude was sent flying by a fierce hit from a spinning funnel of wind. When the dust settled, Turbine was the winner. The boy angrily returned his fainted partner and rushed off to have it healed. Fusha flew back to Turbine's shoulder with a curious look on her face to match her trainer's.

"What was that? That wasn't you, was it?" she asked her pokémon, who replied with a shake of her head. To answer her question, the balloon pokémon from the previous night floated into her arms. "You?" she asked in surprise, "I thought someone was following me... But I thought you didn't want to be caught." The creature simply spun around in her arms in response, making gleeful squeaks. Figuring it wouldn't hurt to give it another try, she pulled the empty pokéball she had tried to use before and held it up to the balloon pokémon in her arms. In a flash of red light, her arms were empty and she now had a second pokémon on her roster. She heard a beeping coming from her backpack and pulled it around to find the source. In the supplies from Oak, she found a small red device. Opening it, she saw a page of information on the pokémon she had just caught, how old it was, its gender, moves it knew, and its name.

"Useful little thing. So... Fuwante, huh?" she read aloud. Putting the device back in her bag, she released her new pokémon from its pokéball and patted its head. She heard several cheers from outside and glanced towards the window to see half of the onlookers celebrating while others looked disappointed. As she turned her head, the two boys who had been facing off with Brock walked by with happy expressions on their faces.

"They must have won," she reasoned. Walking back towards where Matt was standing, she asked him if he was going to face the gym leader next.

As Demetri and Jonas walked in the Pokemon Center, another young man from Oak's home introduced himself to the two. Demetri then began to wonder how many trainers from Pallet had made it to Pewter as he acknowledged the trainer.

"Hello," Aesera said.

"Hello, there," Jonas replied first. "You're... Aesera, right? I remember you from Oak's."

Aesera nodded. "Yes. And I remember the two of you, Jonas and Demetri. The two of you are traveling together, I take it?"

"Yeah, we are," Demetri finally replied. "What about you? Are you traveling by yourself, or is your travel partner somewhere else at the moment?"

"I'm traveling by myself right now." Aesera said. "A lot of the others are moving from city to city as fast as they can, but not me. I'm taking things a bit slower, enjoying the journey itself. I tried joining up with Matt, but he ran off as soon as we reached Veridian. The guy got himself into some kind of trouble shortly thereafter, though, so maybe it's for the best that he ran off."

"Matt." Demetri thought. "I keep hearing about him... I wonder if there's something special about him?"

"I think I saw him as we were leaving the Gym." Jonas told Aesera while Demetri thought. "There were a lot of people from Oak's there. What about you? Have you been there yet?"

Aesera shook her head. "Nope. I just got to Pewter, actually. I'm going to go to the Gym as soon as Absol's healed up, though. You two got your badges, then?"

"Yes, we did," Demetri replied. "It was tough, but we won."

"Well, we'll just see how the Gym's trainers react to me." Aesera said. "I don't think they'll be ready for what me and Absol do. I'll need to get there and see what I'm up against before I decide on a specific strategy, but I've got several battle plans ready to go, and virtually none of them are predictable. That's what's important, you know. It doesn't matter how tough the Pokemon is if the strategy sucks."

"Planned strategies, eh?" Demetri thought, thinking of how his plans always came from the top of his head at a moments notice. "I'm not one for all of that but whatever floats your boat, I guess."

"We'll keep that in mind." Jonas told Aesera. "Thanks for the tip." Demetri smiled at Jonas' statement.

"Couldn't have said it any better myself." He thought.

"Hey," Aesera said, "would you guys mind if I tagged along with you? You'd have to wait for me to get my badge, of course, but I don't think that'll take too long."

Demetri thought it over. He assumed Jonas was doing the same as well as they never looked at each other during the question.

At that moment, Nurse Joy approached Aesera and handed her Absol's Pokeball. "Here you are," she said.

"Thanks," Aesera replied. She turned back to Jonas and Demetri. "Well, I'm off to the Gym now. Anyways, do you guys want to travel with me? I shouldn't be too long getting back from the Gym, and besides, you two have to stay here for a while anyways to wait for the Pokemon you gave Nurse Joy to be healed. I'll just go get my badge and come right back here, then we can leave together. What do you say?"

Demetri and Jonas were both quiet for a moment. They shared a look, then looked at Aesera again. Demetri was the first to answer.

"...No. We don't want to travel with you."

Aesera looked hurt, wondering how someone could be so cruel.

"...But you can travel with us." Demetri's face lightened up from seeing the shock on Aesera's face from the change-up.

"And while we're on the subject," Demetri continued. "We take our time in our adventures also but don't mistake our taking time for moving 'slow'." Demetri looked at Aesera and then the Pokeball that he weilded. Jonas beat Demetri to the question he wanted to ask however.

"Can you show us your Pokemon please, Aesera?" Jonas asked politely. "We need to get an understanding of your Pokemon."

Aesera didn't mind in the least, pressing the button on the Pokeball releasing his Absol. The Absol looked at the two trainers, getting in a battle stance and bearing it's teeth. However, Aesera calmed the Pokemon down with a few words.

"It's ok, Absol." Aesera stated to his Pokemon, talking in his ear. "They're our companions now." Absol, at that moment, calmed down; allowing Demetri and Jonas to get closer to the Pokemon.

"...Beautiful." Demetri said.

"Yeah." Aesera stated. She then looked at Demetri with hope in her eyes.

"...Can I battle you to see if i'm ready for Brock?"

Demetri was stunned. He looked quickly at Jonas and then at the Absol.

"Why won't you battle Jonas?!" Demetri said, almost passive about the battle.

Aesera decided to force Demetri's hand instead of answering the question.

"Well, if you're chicken..." Jonas snickered from the remark. Demetri heard his companion - Jonas - laugh, making him turn to the new trainer in response.

"All right wise... girl." Demetri said, pointing his finger at Aesera. "You, me, outside, now." Demetri walked out of the Pokemon Center and stood outside, waiting for the challenger. Aesera looked at Jonas, still inside the Center.

"...Think I can beat him?" Aesera asked. Jonas shrugged before answering.

"It all depends on your physical and mental strength with your Pokemon." Jonas said. "Demetri may not look it from first glance but he's actually beginning to trust his Pokemon more and more. Stay on your guard."

"Thanks." Aesera said. She then walked outside with her Absol where Demetri stood with his Pidgey. Jonas wondered why Demetri wasn't fighting with his Larvitar instead but didn't say anything to his companion as he walked outside with the girl and her Absol.

"You ready?" Demetri said, looking at Aesera as she made it to his location, 30ft. from the Center.

"Ready!" Aesera said. "And thanks for this battle."

"We'll battle next to the Pokemon Center for healing afterwards." Demetri said with a smile. He then pointed at Absol. "Your gonna need it."

"Well then, bring it!" Aesera motioned with one hand.

Demetri agreed, wasting no time.

"Pidgey! Quick attack the Absol!"

OOC: Works for me. I'm going to assume that this'll be a one-on-one between Pidgey and Absol.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Demetri got things started by telling Pidgey to perfor a quick attack. Fortunately, Aesera and Absol'd gotten experience against bird Pokemon on Route 1, so Absol knew just what to do. She had to act a bit more quickly than she was used to, as this Pidgey came at her sooner than any wild ones had, but she was able to do so. Absol leapt to meet the charging Pidgey, and the two of them collided in midair. Absol recovered more quickly than the unsuspecting Pidgey did, and was able to land a hit on the bird before it took off again.

The Pidgey flew above Absol, no longer simply rushing in to attack. This is a smart one, Aesera thought. Smarter than all those wild Pidgey, at least. It's not going to make the mistake of simply charging in again. Even if it does land its hit, Absol'll be able to hit it back before it can get away, and it isn't as durable as Absol. It knows that it can't win by exchanging blows, so it's going to try something else. Of course, Absol and I have a few tricks of our own, so this should be an interesting match.

"Okay, Absol, we've fought flyers before," Aesera said. "Give the usual routine a go, but add in the move you used against that Butterfree in the forest." The strategy Aesera was referring to was a simple one. In previous battles against bird Pokemon, Absol had leapt onto any mearby objects, usually trees, to gain height before leaping at the opposing Pokemon. Absol usually missed, as the bird Pokemon would simply dive down and let Absol pass over it, though Absol would sometimes manage to kick the Pokemon, not doing much damage but knocking it lower, which it of course would have done anyways. Of course, driving the opposing Pokemon lower was the intent. Her jumps were aimed to land her on other objects, allowing her to jump right back and attack. If the opposing Pokemon dropped down again, Absol would simply repeat until she was able to hit it and tackle it to the ground, after which victory usually came easily.

Absol used the Pokemon Center's sign as a step up to the roof of the Center itself. She then leapt at Pidgey, who dropped below Absol. Absol did manage to get her kick in, though, which knocked Pidgey even lower. Absol landed on top of the building across from the Pokemon Center, then turned and leapt at Pidgey again. This time, Pidgey dropped down but also moved to the side a bit, out of the way of Absol's kick. Absol, however, didn't want to kick it this time, nor did she want to land on top of the Pokemon Center. Instead, she used the building like she'd used the trees in Veridian Forest, rebounding off of it and towards Pidgey.

Pidgey reacted quickly, but not quite quickly enough. It succeeded in preventing Absol from tackling it to the ground, but Absol was able to slash it on her way past. Absol landed on the ground in front of Aesera and quickly turned to face Pidgey, who'd recovered from Absol's attacks and returned to its previous altitude.

"Pidgey!" Demetri shouted. "Kick up some dust! It can't hit you if it can't see you!"

Pidgey followed Demitri's shouted command, dropping clozer to the ground in front of the Pokemon Center and flapping its wings to stir up sand. All the dust made it hard to see, so Pidgey was able to get away before Absol could reach it. Absol was trying to locate Pidgey when the bird Pokemon came flying in from Absol's left, raked her with its talons, and dissapeared in the dust before Absol could retaliate.

Pidgey circled around and again came at Absol from the left. Absol managed to dodge that attack, though she was still unable to get in a hit of her own. Pidgey once again flew into the dust, though by now it was beginning to clear. Pidgey came at Absol from her left again, but this time Absol was ready, and she was able to see it coming in time to react. She leapt at Pidgey, which turned out to be just what Pidgey wanted. Pidgey angled upwards at the last second, and the dust hadn't cleared enough for Absol to see what was in her path until it was too late. She tried to react, and managed to bounce off of the Pokemon Center's wall instead of impacting it, but her landing was... well, not exactly stellar. Pidgey dove down and was able to hit Absol again before she recovered, and it flew off before she could retaliate. By that time, the dust had cleared, and everyone could see clearly again.

"Prety good," Aesera said to Demetri. "Very good, actually. That's one tricky Pidgey."

"You're doing well yourself," Demetri replied. "Better than I expected, to be honest. But I'm still taking you down."

"Don't think this is over yet," Aesera replied, "because Absol and I are nowhere close to done. Come on, show me what else the two of you've got."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

OOC: Hope that was good. Tekkaman when you post, remember that Aesera had various preplanned strategies, so she won't be giving as many specific instructions as Demetri. And the names for her strategies are related to the strategies, but vague enough that one who doesn't know the strategies is unlikely to be able to guess what a specific strategy involves from the name.

Oh, and I'm assuming that the PM you're going to send me is about who's going to win this match, so please give me a little time to reply before you finish the battle (and my reply shouldn't take too long to come, as I'm going to try to get on at least a few times tomorow).

"Pretty good," Aesera said to Demetri. "Very good, actually. That's one tricky Pidgey."

"You're doing well yourself," Demetri replied. "Better than I expected, to be honest. But I'm still taking you down."

"Don't think this is over yet," Aesera replied. "Because Absol and I are nowhere close to done. Come on, show me what else the two of you've got."

"Gladly." Demetri responed as he pointed at the Absol. Pidgey, feeding off of his trainer's determination, attacked at high speeds immediately. Though the Pidgey was doing considereable damage, the Absol wasn't falling. In all honesty, it looked as if the Pigey was making the Absol mad; as if the bird was an annoying gnat, itching to be wiped off the face of the Earth.

"Gah." Demetri thought. "The Absol's too strong. Pidgey's attacks aren't working and this trainer brings up new strategies whenever I get to understand his previous one." Demetri looked at Aesera - his opponent and new companion alongside Jonas - seeing the determination in her eyes.

"Do I have that same determination?" Demetri thought.

Pidgey was doing it's best to keep up the high speed attacks but the Absol had Aesera backing her, whereas Pidgey was temporarily by her lonesome due to Demetri becoming lost in thought. It wasn't long before Aesera caught on and took advantage of the trainerless bird.

"Absol! Use Daywalker!" A smirk followed afterwards on the mature girl's face.

Absol understood, standing perfectly still. Pidgey and Demetri - now, clear-headed - looked at the Pokemon based on what Aesera had yelled.

"I noticed that you're trying to figure out my strategy." Aesera yelled opposite of the battle. "Lemme tell you that this strategy of mine will end this battle between us."

"Confident, aren't we?" Demetri yelled back. He then looked at his Pidgey. As the Pidgey looked back at her trainer, Demetri smiled.

"Make that Absol work for a win." Demetri said. Pidgey understood, looking back at the opponent. The Absol stood still.

"Ok Pidgey! Fly at the Absol!"

Pidgey understood, flying at the Absol carefully. Before the bird even made it close to the Absol however, she was knocked away forefully; the Absol didn't seem liked it moved at all.

"Pidgey!" Demetri yelled. Pidgey struggled to get up and become aloft again. Surprised at what had happened, Demetri looked at his opponent.

"What the hell was that?!" It was the first time Demetri had cursed. He didn't like making a habit of it.

"If you must know..." Aesera replied with a grin. "My Absol and I developed multiple strategies; one of which I recently developed."

"And i'm assuming that this 'one of which' is the strategy you're using on my Pidgey?" Demetri shot back.

"Precisely." Aesera said. "I had Absol combine his Leer, Taunt, Quick Attack, and Razor Wind all at once." Aesera smiled at Jonas looking in amazement from the strategy. "You see, Absol moved; you and your Pidgey just didn't see it. And combined with my Absol's leer and taunt combo, your Pidgey will attack my Pokemon aimlessly while losing defense."

"Jesus!" Demetri thought. "Aesera's really pulling out all the stops! I gotta tell Pidg-"

But before Demetri could finish his sentence, Pidgey flew in towards the motionless Absol.

"Damn. Guess i'll have to work it out to the best of my ability." Demetri thought. He yelled at his Pidgey then, hoping she would listen.

"Pidgey! Dive to the ground, close to the Absol!"

Pidgey obeyed, spiraling down into the Earth short of the Absol. Dust scattered the area where the two Pokemon were. Nothing was visable.

"Not this again." Aesera stated. "Absol! Pin the Pidgey down now!"

The dust cleared, showing the Absol's paw on top of the Pidgey. Demetri's bird hadn't given up but the Absol's paw stayed absolute.

"My Absol had tripled it's speed with Daywalker." Aesera said. "Did you really think your Pidgey's repeat performance of the duststorm would yield the same effects?"

"No." Demetri said. "You, actually, did what I wanted you to this time."

"...You're bluffing." Aesera said, unbelieving.

"No bluffs." Demetri said. He then shot out a command for the Pidgey.

"Blind the Absol now!"

Pidgey did as instructed, grabbing a handful of dust with her wing and throwing it at Absol's eyes with such speed, it didn't have time to react.

"Now! Quick Attack the Absol in the jaw!!" Full Power!"

Pidgey seemed to glow for a minute as she was absorbed in a white light. Manifesting the last of her powers into one last strike, Pidgey - consumed in energy - flew upwards into Absol's jaw, sending it upwards into the sky at a colossal rate. Two bodies soon came downwards - Absol and Pidgey - plopping on the ground with a thud. Unfortunately, Absol soon got to it's feet after a short moment of struggling with the remainder of it's strength. Pidgey was spent.

"Pidgey is unable to battle!" Jonas said, ending the battle. "Aesera's Absol is the winner!"

There was a loud roar as people clapped all around. It seemed that a crowd had formed during the battle, unbeknownst to the two trainers. Jonas was aware but didn't bother the two as they sparred. Demetri looked at his downed companion.

"Pidgey! return!"

Pidgey was returned in a flash of red before Demetri walked towards Aesera and Absol, who had now fainted as well. Demetri smiled.

"Humph, stubborn Pokemon; if my Pidgey could've held out a few minutes longer..."

Demetri shrugged casually before shaking his new companions hand.

"Let's go get our Pokemon healed and see if Brock's ready for you."

"Yeah!" Aesera said, walking to the Pokemon Center with Demetri. The crowd watching the spectacle dispersed soon afterwards.

==========O==========

Great battle. =]

OOC: Yeah, it was good. Of course, we're not supposed to use the actual moves from the games in this RPG. Instead, Pokemon have abilities that correspond to the games' moves, and can also do things that don't have equivalents in the games. And for Daywalker, you specified moves that Absol used, which we're not supposed to do in this RPG. I think I can explain the strategy within the context of this RPG, though, so don't worry about it.

--------------------------------------------------------------

"That was quite the match," Jonas remarked as he sat down beside Demetri and Aesera. They were in the Pokemon Center again, waiting for Absol and Pidgey to be healed.

"Indeed," Aesera said. "That was one tough Pidgey. Absol and I encountered quite a few of those between Pallet and Veridian, but none of them put up much of a fight. You've clearly done well with that Pidgey, Demetri."

"Thanks," Demetri replied. "Absol's pretty tough, too. I thought I had you at the end there, but not quite. And you managed to keep me guessing throughout the match, too. You're pretty good at this."

"Well," Aesera said, "to be honest, I do have something of an advantage. Everyone in my family's knowledgeable about Pokemon forvarious reasons, so I know a lot about them. And knowledge is quite valuable. Also, my sister taught me a few things about training Pokemon before I became a trainer."

"Your sister?" Jonas asked.

Aesera nodded. "Yeah. Her name's Katrina, and she's an excellent trainer. She's won the Pokemon Leauge Championship tournament twice, though she didn't manage to do it consecutively. Still, even winning once is impressive, and she's won twice."

"Yeah, that is quite the accomplishment," Demetri remarked. "So she taught you a few things, then. No wonder you're good at this."

"Yeah, her lessons have helped," Aesera replied. "Of course, I have to give some credit to my brother, Rorohiko. He's not a trainer, but a researcher. For a long time, he traveled with only one Pokemon, an Absol. And no, it's no coincidence that I've got an Absol with me, too. Ro and Oak are good friends, and Ro arranged for Oak to have an Absol avalable.

"Anyways, Rorohiko's the one who discovered pretty much everything that's known about Absol. Thanks to him, I have a very good understanding of Absol's capabilities. I used that knowledge in forming many of my battle strategies, including Daywalker. Daywalker is actually one of the riskier strategies that Absol and I came up with."

"In what sense?" Demetri asked.

"Well, in a couple ways," Aesera replied. "First, it's somewhat draining on Absol, so she can't keep it up for long. Second, it requires a moment to set up, and she's vulnerable while doing so. But the greatest risk with that strategy its reliance on an uncertain ability.

"See, all Absol can learn to use a variety of abilties. This is actually related to the ability of Absol to sense natural disasters. Absol are sensitized to certain energies, and through exposure to these energies they can learn how to use them. This only works if they're experienced as a part of nature, though. The abilities of Pokemon do not generate the same effect. For example, the Absol I have as a partner experienced a tornado at some point in her life. She wasn't close enough to be injured, but she was pretty close, and she got hit by some feirce winds. As a result, she became able to harness the wind, though only to a very limited extent. Because of this, she can do a few things that are normally reserved for flying Pokemon, such as the very brief wind burst she uses in Daywalker.

"Okay, so here's the problem: it wasn't very long ago that Absol experienced the tornado, probably just a few days before she was brought to Oak's. I can tell this because Absol hasn't yet completely mastered her wind abilities. Doing that takes time, and she simply hasn't yet had enought time. She can use the abilities, but there's an element of uncertanity when she does so. Because she's inexperienced with the abilities, they don't always work.

"Until Absol masters her wind abilities, Daywalker is an unreliable strategy. However, I felt that it would work against Pidgey, which it did. There was a good wind while we were battling, remember. That wind made things easier for Absol."

"Interesting," Jonas said when Aesera was finished. "What about the other abilities used in Daywalker? You know, the ones Absol used to provoke Pidgey into forgetting defense and just atacking."

"I'm not quite sure about where those come from," Aesera admitted. 'It's not environmental, though. It has something to do with the ancestry of Absol. Ro explained it to me once, but I didn't understand a lot of what he said. I'll ask him if we run into him, which we might. He's in Kanto somewhere, tracking recent Absol sightings in hopes of finding wild Absol and learning more about them."

It was then that Nurse Joy approached and handed Absol and Pidgey's Pokeballs back to Aesera and Demetri. "There you go," she said.

"Thanks," Aesera told the nurse as she got to her feet. "Well, it's time for the gym," she said to Demetri and Jonas. "You two are coming, right? So let's go, then."

-------------------------------------------------------------------

OOC: Okay, Doublehex, I hope all that Absol stuff is okay. I think it works as an explination of how Absol has the various abilities that correspond to its moves in the games. If I need to change anything, please tell me.

OOC: Sorry for not posting much, school has this exams and debate and stuff?urgghh?

After the battle between the beedrills, they continued their cautious journey down Viridian Forest. Dark was coming soon and Ronyo knew that we have to find somewhere to rest for the night. Looking around the almost-to-be-dark forest, he spotted a perfect place to camp: underneath a big tree with soft grass around it.

Ronyo placed his back pack on the nearby tree. Anubis followed him wherever he goes. Then he said to Sigurd and Azure, ?Well, I hope you don?t mind but this is currently the perfect spot to sleep in for the night.?

Both of them nodded. Sigurd?s Eevee hopped out his arms and stretched a bit while he placed his back pack the same place where Ronyo placed his. Azure was uncertain about the weather.

?Umm?you guys, what will we do if it rains? Won?t we get soaked? It?ll be even worse when there?s lighting and thunder??

Both Sigurd and Ronyo looked at each other. Now all three of them looked into the dark sky.

?Hey Ronyo, she?s right you know??

Ronyo stood up and walked towards his bag pack; searching for ?something?. Then, Azure and Sigurd saw him taking ?something? out of the bag. He showed it to them.

?I told you that I came prepared didn?t I??

Sigurd can see Anubis wagging his tail as a sign of joy and Azure?s Cyndaquil smiled. There is no way Fire pokemon like to get wet. Ronyo was busy setting up the tarpaulin. He instructed Sigurd to find some firewood to make fire and Azure to follow him.

.:Time: Nightfall:....:Place: Around Viridian Forest:.

Azure and her Cyndaquil together with his Eevee walked beside Sigurd. Both of them don?t really talk much; they just kept silent along the way. Then, Azure broke the silent with a question:

?You always look troubled when not talking, why is that??

He sighed. Azure just stood at the same spot where she was just now. Sigurd place Eevee beside him and bent into the bush, searching for firewood. At the same time, she begins to walk closer.

?It?s alright if you don?t want to answer me. I respect that.?

Sigurd placed the firewood that he found into a plastic bag. Then, he looks at Azure.

?No I don?t mind. Well, it's my mom. I was wondering if she?ll be alright by herself.?

Azure helped him get more firewood. ?She?ll be fine."

?No, it?s not that? It?s my dad.!?

She stared at him, confused. ?I don?t quite understand.?

He can hear Eevee and Cyndaquil chatting between them. ?Well, it happens when I was just ten, and I still remember about it??

He told Azure about his childhood. His dad was nice and caring before. So was his mom. But all of it changed when his dad became a drug addict. His dad always beat his mom for money. One night, it happened again. Sigurd went downstairs to see what was happening. Both of them never knew that Sigurd was watching them.

It always haunted him since then. His mom was always hiding the truth, and he kept silent. This incident still happens; it?s just a matter of when.

?Oh, sorry for asking?I never--?

?It?s alright, I feel much better now. I never told my secret to anyone.?

Sigurd and Azure got up, knowing that they?ve collected enough firewood. Eevee followed beside him and Cyndaquil of her shoulder. Minutes later, they arrived at their camping site. Sigurd can see the shelter was done.

?I was waiting for you two?where have ya? been??

Azure passed all the firewood to Ronyo. She grinned at him, ?Secret!?

Sigurd and Azure just smiled and put the firewood down near Ronyo. Ronyo didn?t say anything just grabbed chunks of wood and began to arrange them inside a circle of rocks. Azure and Sigurd noticed that Ronyo?s Cubone was out as well. Bushido was using his bone the encircle the ring of rocks with fresh dirt to help keep the fire from jumping onto the forest floor. When Ronyo and Bushido were done they both took a step back to look at it.

?That looks good Ronyo. I?m glad we ended up traveling with you I don?t know what I would have done if I got stuck here at night.? Azure smiled

?Thank you Azure, I placed the wood so that will get the most light and keep the coals nice and hot. The fire will keep the bugs away as will the smoke. Oh yeah, Anubis light it up please?

Anubis gave a little blow and lit the wood on fire. The flames spread quickly and illuminated there little camp site. Anubis gave a small bark to show he approved, while Bushido sat down with his legs crossed, bone laying across his knees, and back to the fire.

?What?s your Cubone doing?? Sigurd asked as he found a set next to the fire

?Guarding. Which is a good idea for the night. He seems insistent on going first, so I will relieve him later on tonight with Anubis. Either of you feel like doing some guard duty?? Ronyo asked as he poked the fire

?I?ll relieve you whenever you get tired if that ok. Me and Eevee should be well rested by whenever that is.? Sigurd and Eevee both gave a determined nod

?That?s fine with me, me and Cyndaquil have no problem sleeping in.? Azure said as she tickled Cyndaquil under the chin

Ronyo nodded and continued to watch the fire until he heard a strange sound. He almost got concerned until he heard it again. It was the sound of six hungry stomachs, well until Ronyo heard his own which meant seven.

?I guess we all have the same idea. Well we need to preserve the big stuff we have, but I think I might be able to do something.? Ronyo said as he began sorting through his bag again.

He pulled out a small black pot which he positioned over the fire using some of the taller pieces of wood Azure and Sigurd had brought back. Ronyo then pulled out a small can which contained a soup mixture.

?This can is small, but I can find some plants that we can mix in to add more sustenance, and if your Spheal can provide some clean water we can make this little can feed all of us.?

?I think Spheal can do that, come on out little on,? A red light flashed then in its place stood Azure?s new water ice pokemon, ? Can you give us some cool clean water little Spheal?? Azure pointed at Ronyo?s pot to show where the water needed to go. The little water pokemon was happy to help, and filled the pot about half way.

?Thank you Spheal, oh and I guess that makes eight now. No problem, you guys sit tight while I go pick some of the plants. Bushido you stay with everyone here.? Ronyo got up and walked into the forest with Anubis at his heels.

I didn?t take Ronyo long to lose sight of his camp, but he knew the forest pretty well and had Anubis. Well more like he had Anubis? nose. The plants Ronyo needed were not that hard to find but Ronyo wanted some time alone. This was the most time he had ever spent around people, and as much as he enjoyed it he it also made him kind of nervous. Both Azure and Sigurd were great people which made things a lot easier though.

?Just need sometime to relax and look at the stars. What do ya think Anubis? There nice aren?t they??

Anubis looked up at the twinkling spots in the blue black canvas of night and smiled, well as much of a smile as his muzzle would allow.

?They always relax me and help me think. This new change in events defiantly makes a need to think. Oak gave us all pokemon so that we could have the opportunity to becomes great trainers, to become pokemon masters if we choose. That idea has got me thinking though, Oak sent a lot of us out with pokemon to try and become pokemon masters. In truth though there can only be one pokemon master, the one who beats the Elite Four. We all can?t beat the Elite Four, that just isn?t possible is it??

Anubis listened to Ronyo and appeared to be thinking about the words. Finally the wolf pokemon walked over and nudged Ronyo.

?your right Anubis, I do need to get back to the others. Thanks for listening though boy. Guess my question has no answer at the moment. Guess I?ll have to learn more about to answer it.?

Ronyo returned soon after his conversation with Anubis, with the plants. Ronyo made the soup and poured some for everyone into cups and a few pans the group had. The group ate and Azure and Sigurd talked more while Ronyo sat by the fire with his two pokemon is silence. It was peaceful out here, as always.

?better get all this in, I might not get many more chances when this really gets going.?

.:Time: Early morning, the next day:?:Place: Campsite:.

*yawn* ?I slept well last night, did you?? He patted Eevee who was already awake from his slumber last night. Sigurd stretched a little and then he looked around to find out that they were the first one awake. He walks around to enjoy the morning air; being cautious not to stray too far from the campsite. It didn?t rain last night, so were all dry. Sigurd felt Eevee giving him a little nudge.

?What?s the matter, Eevee??

The Eevee?s ears seem to twitch, like a rabbit?s; listening for sound. Sigurd was even more cautious now, what will happen if a wild pokemon attacked them? The sound was getting louder and louder. Eevee was certain that there was something behind the bush. He puts on his ?defensive face?. Sigurd did the same. Then, appearing from the bush: a little Pidgey!

The Pidgey was somewhat exhausted. It seems to run towards Sigurd?s and Eevee?s direction. He bent down and picked it up. ?You okay, little guy?? The Pidgey was shaking its head wildly, indicating a ?no?. Seconds later, a Beedrill arrived.

?Geez?why now? Eevee, you better get ready?we?re considered lucky as only one Beedrill came. The Pidgey that they just met was in Sigurd?s arms. After that, the Beedrill flew towards them. Both Eevee and Sigurd jumped out of the way. Eevee gave the Beedrill a tackle, but the Beedrill dodged this easily.

?Come on, Eevee. Tackle won?t work; we have to try?Sand Attack!?

Eevee obeyed his trainer?s instruction. That attack seems to have an effect on the Beedrill. The Beedrill was sent flying back, crashing onto a tree but it got back up. The battle went on an on. Both Eevee and the Beedrill were exhausted.

Suddenly, the Pidgey flew up and did another Sand Attack. Eevee noticed this and used his Sand Attack as well. Both of these attacks made contact with the Beedrill from front and behind. All three of them can see that Beedrill was escaping. Sigurd decided that they should leave the wild Beedrill alone. With Pidgey now in Sigurd?s arms, Eevee followed Sigurd back to the campsite. By the time he reached there, he saw Ronyo and Azure has woken up.

?Where have you been?! You?ve got us all worried!? Ronyo exclaimed.

Azure points to the Pidgey in Sigurd?s arm. ?Hey, isn?t that a Pidgey? What?s he doing with you??

?Oh, so this Pidgey is a ?he? then?well, we were attacked by a Beedrill just now. Seems like this Pidgey was chased by the Beedrill. But that?s okay now.?

Ronyo walked closer to the Pidgey. ?Don?t you think this Pidgey looked ?kinda too exhausted??

?Yeah, I guess that he was really chased like mad then??

?Well, he?s just exhausted right? Then we can just let him rest first and then bring him to the Pokemon Centre.? Azure suggested.

?Sure. He looks at Eevee, ?You don?t mind walking a few more miles, do you??

His Eevee shook his head. Then, Ronyo went to pack his stuff back into his back pack. ?If you guys don?t mind, help me clean this place up.?

?Okay, sure!? Sigurd and Azure said at the same time.

All of them and their pokemon, except for Pidgey, helped to clean the place up. After that, Ronyo leads the way out of the Viridian Forest.

OOC: White and Tekkaman, you'll notice that I made only a general mention that Aesera's not going to be traveling with Jonas and Demetri. I left the reason open so that one of you can post what it is.

On a different subject, Everyone seems to be intending to battle Brock specifically, but Doublehex stated in the underground thread that in this RPG, gym leaders have assistants that you can battle for the badge, so that's what Aesera's going to do (Brock needs a break sometime, right?).

----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's too bad those two decided to move on without me, Aesera thought as she walked towards the Pewter City Gym. I was getting to like them. Oh, well. We'll probably run into each other again. Maybe they'll have changed their minds again by then. Well, there's nothing I can do about it now. Hmm... if there really are a lot of people from Oak's at the gym, then perhaps I'll find someone there to travel with. If not, then I suppose I'll be on my own again. Well, no point in complaining about it.

Aesera's thoughts turned to her upcoming gym battle. The Pewter City Gym specialized in rock-type Pokemon. Rock-types tended to be slow, which meant that Absol would have the advantage of speed. Rock-types weren't exactly wanting in the power department, though. However, the greatest asset of rock-types was their durability. Rock-type Pokemon could take quite a beating. Water- and grass-types tended to have an easy time against rock-types, but without water- or grass-type abilities, the battle was sure to be a long one. At least, it would be if Aesera decided to go with a 'KO the opposing Pokemon' strategy, but there were other options.

Gym battles, Aesera new, took place within a designated boundry. If a Pokemon exited the designated arena area, that Pokemon was out of the match. Aesera and Absol could probably use that rule to their advantage, although their opponents could do the same thing. Still, a couple of Aesera's strategies were designed to get the opponent out of the arena bounds. They wouldn't be easy to pull off, of course, as the opponents would of course be aware of the out-of-bounds rule, and they'd be used to going against trainers who used such strategies. But Aesera had one that she thought would work anyways. It was complicated, but she and Absol'd practiced the moves on a couple wild Pokemon, which was the best they could do to practice. Absol seemed to have it down, so Aesera thought that they had a prety good chance of pulling it off.

As Aesera entered the gym, she did indeed see several of the people from Oak's. Aesera didn't stop to listen, but she did hear a couple people mention the gym's leader, Brock. Looks like this gym's going to be pretty busy today, she thought. I wonder how many of them mean to challenge Brock specifically. Well, it doesn't matter to me who I get the badge from, so I'll fight whoever's ready.

It wasn't long after entering the gym that Aesera found her bath blocked by a tough-looking young man. "Well, well, well," the man said. "And just who might you be?"

"My name is Aesera, and I'm here to battle for this gym's badge."

"Are you, now?" the man replied. "Well, you're not getting to Brock unless you can beat me."

"That's fine with me," Aesera said. "I don't care who I battle for the badge. It doesn't need to be Brock."

Aesera tried to walk past the man, but he just got in her way again. "Well, you're not going anywhere unless you can beat me, and that ain't happening."

Aesera sighed. Gym trainers. First those ones I met when I went to watch Katrina at the last Laeuge Championship tournament, and now this guy Why are tgym trainers always such assholes? "I don't see any reason to waste my time on you," she said aloud. "Please step aside."

This angered the man. "A waste of time? You think that's all I am? I'll show you who's a waste of time!"

"I think not," Aesera replied. The man came at Aesera, but before he could do anything, Aesera had him on the ground with the wind knocked out of him. "I have no tolerance for assholes such as yourself," she said as she walked by the man. I'm glad I let Ro talk me into taking those martial arts classes, she thought.

It wasn't tough to locate one of Brock's assistants. "Hello," the assistant said when Aesera approached him. "Are you here for a badge?"

"Yes," Aesera replied. "That's why I'm here, despite the best efforts of your gym trainers to keep me out.

"I hope you didn't beat any of them too badly."

"I didn't battle anyone, if that's what you're talking about," Aesera said. "There is a guy back there who'll have some bruises and probably a damaged ego, though, but that's what he gets for attacking me."

Well, um, as long as nobody's injured" the assistant replied. "Anyways, what's your name?"

"My name is Aesera. I'm here to challenge this gym."

"I'm Eso, and I accept your gym challenge."

Eso led Aesera to the battle arena. The rock-strewn arena was obviously designed around the gym's rock-type focus, and its boundries were clearly marked. "This is where we'll battle," Eso said. "Now, you may already know this, but gym challenges usually limit the number of Pokemon that may be used. At this gym, the common policy is to allow use of two Pokemon each. Understood?"

Aesera nodded. "Yeah, I understand. I've only got one Pokemon with me so far, though, so that gives you something of an unfair advantage."

"Don't worry about that," Eso told her. "I don't want this to be an unfair fight, so we'll make this a one-on-one. Of course, my Pokemon'll be a bit tougher than either of the ones I'd use for a two-on-two, the reason being that since you've only got a single Pokemon, it'll be stronger that ones whose trainers have multiple Pokemon."

"Sounds good," Aesera replied. "Now, if you're ready, I'd like to get this battle going."

Eso and Aesera were in their positions at opposite sides of the arena. "This will be a one-on-one battle," Eso announced. Aesera laready knew this, but Eso still had to announce it for formality's sake. "My Pokemon," he continued, "will be... Graveler!' He released his Graveler from its Pokeball. Aesera released Absol, and the two Pokemon entered the arena and faced each other.

"Now," Eso announced, "begin!"

"Ok, Absol," Aesera said. "Let's run Centerpoint." Absol nodded in affirmation and launched into the strategy.

Centerpoint was a somewhat elaborate strategy designed to confuse the opponent. The opening of the plan was based around the fact that an opponent wouldbe likely to assume from the name 'Centerpoint' that the center of the arena was important. Absol began by advancing halfway to the center of the arean and cicling that central point to stay oppossite Graveler. Suddenly, Absol charged towards Graveler, which readied itself to counter Absol's attack. Absol, however, wasn't attacking. She leapt over Graveler, landing behind it. Graveler spun around to face Absol and moved backwards, towards the center of the arena, to open some distance between the two of them.

Eso reached exactly the conclusion that Aesera wanted him to. "Graveler, Absol's trying to force you into the center!" he called to Graveler. "Take the offensive, don't let it push you back!" He didn't know why Absol wanted Graveler in the center of the arena, but he knew that if his opponent wanted it to happen, he didn't. This idea was what Counterpoint relied on, that if one's opponent wanted it, one should to everything one could to prevent it.

Graveler advanced towards Absol, but Absol wasn't letting it get close, and she was faster than Graveler. So Graveler started throwing the rocks that were scattered throughout the arena. Absol avoided the rocks and closed in on Graveler. Absol charged in to attack, but Graveler was ready. It stopped throwing rocks, and when Absol closed in it punched her away.

Absol recovered from the hit and positioned herself between Graveler and the center of the arena. Absol launched into a series of rapid attacks, charging Graveler and then pulling back. She focused mainly on avoiding Graveler's counters, and as a result she only got a couple hits in. But damaging Graveler wasn't the objective. As a result of Absol's rapid attacks, Graveler found itself taking a step or two backwards every now and then, towards the edge of the arena.

Again, Eso drew the conclusion Aesera wanted him to. "They tricked us!" he called to Graveler. "Move towards the center, now!" Graveler charged forward, but it wasn't exactly fast, so Absol had ample time to get out of the way. Absol got in a hit as Graveler passed by, but she didn't pursue Graveler. Instead, she let it reach the center of the arena as she circled around it. dodgeing the rocks it started to throw again.

"All right, Absol, close and finish!" Aesera shouted. This, of course, was meant to create the inpression that she and Absol wanted Graveler in the center of the arena. Eso, however, wasn't buying it.

"I'm not falling for that trick again!" Eso said. "Graveler, stay near the center! Make Absol come to you!"

Aesera wasn't concerned about Graveler staying the center. By this point in the strategy, she'd known it was unlikely that her opponent would leave the center again, so she'd planned for an opponent that stayed in the center. Absolran in towards Graveler, but instead of heading right for Graveler, Absol leapt over it. Landing behind Graveler, Absol landed a hit, then backed off as Graveler turned around. Absol dodged to the side and leapt over Graveler again, getting in another hit before pulling back. Absol repeated this strategy, circling Graveler and leaping over it at unpredictable angles, then hitting it and pulling back befire Graveler could counterattack.

Eventually, Eso concluded that he'd been had again. "Graveler, get to the edge of the arena! That Absol can't do its jumping stuff when you're there, or it'll land out of bounds! And whatever happens, do not move backwards from there!"

Absol kept up her leaping attack while Graveler made its way to the edge of the battle area. As Graveler approached the edge of the arena, Absol ceased her leaping attack, because otherwise she'd land out of bounds, like Eso'd said. What Eso didn't know was that Aesera and Absol wanted Graveler at the edge of the arena.

"Absol, hit it now!" Aesera shouted.

Absol charged Graveler again, and leapt into the air like she'd been doing. This time, however, she didn't land behind Graveler, though it looked like that was going to happen. It wasn't until too late that Graveler realized Absol was going to land right on top of it.

Absol kicked down on Graveler's back, launching herself forwards while knocking Graveler off balance. She kicked Graveler in the face as she landed in front of it, and though Graveler got a punch in, it was too late, and Graveler fell over backwards. Absol moved in quickly and rammed Graveler. Due to its spherical shape, Graveler rolled backwards, and by the time it stopped itself, it was out of the arena.

"Congradulations," Eso said as he and Aesera returned Graveler and Absol to their Pokeballs. "I have to say, you got me good there. I had no idea what you were up to."

"That was the idea," Aesera told him. "Absol and I kept switching things around on you so that you'd be too confused to guess what Absol was going to do until it was too late. And I'd say it worked rather well."

"That it did," Eso agreed, reaching into his pocked. He removed a badge and handed it to Aesera. "Here," he said as Aesera took it. "You won, so take the badge."

"Thank you," Aesera replied. "It was a good battle," she said as she walked off.

Aesera did not exit the Gym. She wanted to see some of the other people from Oak's battle, so she made her way to the gym's observation area and took a seat.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

OOC: Doublehex, please tell me if I need to change any of the gym stuff. And Satori, if our characters are going to travel together like we discussed, well, Aesera's still at the gym, so our characters can meet up there.

"Mom, I'm home." Ashin said, opening the door to their house. Quilava ran up to greet her, freezing when he saw the Vulpix. "Hey Quilava." Ashin said as she knelt down to rub him. "What do you think about Shinva?" The two pokemon walked to eachother and after a few minutes of sniffing, they looked back up at Ashin. "Where's Mom, Quilava?" He ran to the back door and sat down. "Thanks. Make yourself at home Sergei. This shouldn't take too long."

When Ashin walked outside, her mom looked up from her gardening. "Hi sweety. So which Pokemon did you choose?"
"I knew you were behind this Mom." Ashin said. "I picked a Vulpix."

"I had a feeling you would get a fire Pokemon. You always were more like your father. So what do you plan to do? Be a Pokemon Master, a Breeder?"

"I'm not sure yet. I'll have to think about it. Maybe just a trainer."

"Well I'm sure you'll be great."

"We have company."

"Really? Your not travelling alone, then?"

"No. It'd be too boring."

"Well let's go inside and I'll work on dinner. Your favorite?"

"I should ask Sergei first." Ashin said as they walked inside.

Sergei looked around Ashin's home somewhat wearily. It was nice, htough he wasn't normally comfortable in other people's homes. He scratched his nose and stopped glancing when he came across on Oddish at the far side of the room. Sergei blinked at it and Oddish returned the same bewildered look.

"Hey Sergei," Ashin had walked back into the house, "are you staying for dinner?"

"Sure, but I want to look around sometime. I'm thinking of challenging Brock sometime, so I want to get some practice in. Don't want to lose, do I?" he smiled at Ashin but quickly removed his smile when a woman, most likely Ashin's mother, walked through. She gave Sergei a warm nod, and Sergei looked at the ground.

"You must be the trainer travelling with Ashin," her mother said. "So what Pokemon did you pick?"

"I got a Charmander, but I caught a Nidoran and a Pikachu on the way here."

"I got myself a Rattata, mom." Ashin added.

They talked for awhile about their Pokemon, a conversation that managed to put Sergei at ease enough to sit down. There were two Pokemon in Ashin's house, a Quilava and an Oddish. Sergei preferred Quilava, since it was a fire Pokemon, of course. Sergei decided to ask if he could let his Pokemon out, since he was still a bit weary about being in someone elses house. Ashin said it was fine, anyway, so Sergei did... but immediately regretted it.

Sergei's newly caught Pikachu was a maniac. As soon as it escaped for its Pokeball it was searching around the house, not making a mess, really, just running around. It circled the other Pokemon enthusiastically but didn't give any of them time to react. It didn't matter if his Pikachu was a coward, it was fast and it wouldn't stay still!

When Ashin's mom walked back in Pikachu had ran up to her, running around her before diving underneath her back to Sergei. Sergei looked up apologetically with the Pikachu on his lap, quickly wrapping his arms around it so it didn't speed off again.

"Sergei, I think your Pikachu's hyperactive!" Ashin laughed.

"I think you're right. Look at it, it won't stay still!"

He was right. Charmander and Nidoran were curious, too, and they peered over Sergei's lap. Pikachu was looking side to side at its surroundings, never keeping a single part of its body still for any moment. If it wasn't looking around it was twitching. Sergei knew there was something weird about his Pikachu before he even caught it.

"Do you think I should get him checked out?" Sergei asked.

Ashin's mom interrupted with a hearty laugh. "I wouldn't worry about it, dear. Pokemon all have different personalities, some just so more than others. You've just got a very enthusiastic, energetic Pikachu. There's nothing wrong with it at all."

Sergei sighed, his mind at ease. He looked down at his Pikachu who was too busy paying attention to every little detail it spotted in the room to notice Sergei's glance. Sergei wondered for a moment if he would be able to control such a hyper Pokemon in battle. He wasn't going to go up against Brock if he couldn't control his Pokemon. He was going to have to battle someone and find out. He wasn't sure but... maybe Ashin would battle him.

"Hey Ashin... what do you say to a battle?"

?So, I take it you?ll be facing the Gym leader.?

?No surprise there?, Matt sighed.

Suddenly, the whole gym rumbled as the Onyx fell to the ground. Two trainers cheered ? one of them owning a pidgey, the other swinub. The man crossed his arms and sighed irritably. He signaled one of his assistants to hand two badges to the victors. He quickly returned his Onyx and Geodude to their pokeballs.

The tanned man saw how Matt and Turbine were staring at him. Turbine was looking at him just for the sake of staring at something, but Matt had a different excuse. He stared at Brock?s face, to observe him, to study him. He remembered reading on old history books how ancient warriors could see how they fought just by watching each other. He knew that Brock fought in the Gizdotsou War, so he thought he could apply the same rule here.

Except he couldn?t understand Brock at all. Either Matt was just being stupid, or Brock knew how to hide his feelings well.

At first, Matt thought it was the former?but then Brock nodded. The man turned to another of his assistants.

He said something, and instantly the man ran off. The assistant returned later with a belt, with a dozen pokeballs strapped to them. Brock observed for a moment, and chose one from the belt. He then handed the pokeball to the assistant.

?The girl?, the hard voice could be heard throughout the observing room. ?Come here. Your friend as well.?

?WE?RE NOT FRIENDS!!? the two screamed at the intercom, but obviously, Brock could not hear them. He did smile from his side, however.

A piece of the wall slid away, allowing entrance onto the battle floor. The two obeyed the gym leader, and made their entrance on the rocky battlefield.

?The Girl will fight me,? Brock decided. ?Camien?s boy will be next.?

?How do you know my father?? Matt questioned. He had never met Brock before. Hell, he had never even left Pewter City before Oak sent him and a bunch of other kids on this craziness?

Brock sighed. ?If you don?t know that, then I have to wonder just how much of his talents went to you??

?Enough of this!? Turbine decided. ?Let?s just fight and get this over and done with.?

?Confidence can be a pretty ugly thing sometimes, girl,? Brock advised.

?Like I care.? She turned to the Murkrow. ?Kick ?is ass, Fu.? The black crow pokemon cawed in approval, and spread its wings onto the battlefield.

?Maxi,? Brock addressed the assistant. Brock stepped back, and Maxi entered the battlefield.

?What? I?m not fighting you??

?Stop ya babying?, the man mocked. ?If Brock says I?m gonna fight ya, then I?m gonna fight you!?

?Whatever.?

?Begin the match!? Brock announced. ?This will be a one on one battle. The first pokemon that is knocked out, killed, or otherwise is unable to continue the battle will be the loser!? He stopped talking for a few moments. ?Begin?, he whispered.

Maxi released his pokeball, and a Glion emerged. It screeched, almost as if it was kept in the ball for a very long time.

Instantly, the Glion initiated an attack. It flew forward, its stinger leading the assault. It was easily avoided by the nimble Fusha. It flew upwards, and the insect-bat followed in hot pursuit.

?Fu!? Turbine commanded. ?Create a haze or something! Make sure it can?t see you!!? Obeying its trainer, Fusha released a black fog from its wings. Turbine, however, did not realize that Glions were able to see in the dark ? cavers were their natural habitat, after all.

Fusha fell to the ground, her mist dispersing above her. The Glion hovered above her, its exoskeleton unscathed.

?Fu!? Turbine protested, although if it was at her precious Murkrow or the Glion was never verified.

Maxi just snickered. ?Glion, finish off that oversized crow!? Obeying its mater?s order, the Glion charged downward, its stinger leading.

In a matter of time, the stinger would penetrate Fu?s black feathers, and the poison would dig beneath her flesh. It would spread throughout her body, and she would undoubtedly die.

That is, that would have occurred if Fusha hadn?t feigned death as an attempt to throw Glion off. She twirled to the side the very moment the Glion would have hit her. It slammed its head into the ground, hard, dazing it somewhat.

Fusha took the opportunity to give it an even bigger headache by tackling it. The Glion was thrown into a giant rock.

It squirmed for a few moments, but it eventually ceased to move.

Maxi cursed under his breath as he threw his glove off and stomped on it in anger.

Brock just chuckled. ?I don?t know who to award the badge to?the pokemon or the trainer??

Turbine glared at him. ?Just give me the damn badge.?

?Fine.? He dug into his pocket, revealing the Boulder Badge. He tossed it to her.

?It?s our turn, Matthew?, he said emotionlessly. Matt nodded to Scimnio, who followed him onto the battle floor.

?The same rules apply here as they did to your friend.?

?I prefer it that way.?

?Good.? He unclicked one of his pokeballs. From the flash of flight an Onyx emerged. Scars covered the rocky beast, Matt noticed, especially near his eyes. ?This is Amagrim.?

?Then who was the one who got its ass whipped by the other two trainers??

?One of his many children.?

?Oh, so I get the daddy?, Matt grinned.

?David?s son deserves no better. Now enough small talk?this fight begins now!?

Somewhere in the room, a bell rang.

[-First fight against the Titans-]

Amagrim crashed onto the floor, and Scimnio scurried along, the giant rock worm right behind him. In a wild attempt to avoid the speeding creature, the fire-monkey leaped from boulder to boulder.

But after one jump, Scimnio found himself higher than he should be. Looking down, he realized that he was on the boulder?but the boulder was on the earth serpent?s head! Amagrim rose higher and higher, until it was at the point where if Scimnio fell, he would probably break every bone in his tiny body.

And that was exactly what Amagrim had in mind. He rocked his head, and soon, both boulder and hikozaru were plummeting towards the ground.

?Scimnio! It?s vulnerable! Give him a fireball!!?

Already planning on the same maneuver, energy rushed through the fire monkey?s body, and soon enough, his hands began to glow a scarlet red. Halfway towards the ground, Scimnio released an enormous fireball, and the resulting explosion rocked the Onyx?s head backwards. Scimnio landed on his feet on a boulder.

He relaxed for a bit.

But that was far too long. Scimnio felt the awesome power of an Onyx whipping its tail against his tiny body, and he was sent flying into a wall.

Dust filled the room, and concrete went everywhere in the general area.

Matt remained silent.

No noise.

?Scimnio?? he asked weakly.

No noise.

?SCIMNIO!!!?

The three pokemon trainers were actually having good luck on their second day in Viridian Forest. With the injured pidgey in toe it meant they had to be quick and careful this day. Ronyo and Anubis were staying well in front of the group moving in and out of the trees to keep an eye on the locals. Meanwhile Cyndaquil and Eevee were keeping an eye out for trouble next to there partners. Soon Azure and Sigurd could see Ronyo and Anubis coming towards them with a smile.

?What are you smiling about?? Azure asked smirking herself

?Our time in the forest has come to an end, the exit is just around this bend here.?

Sigurd and Azure looked at each other with excitement. The group decided to run the last few feet weather or not the forest was beautiful it had long worn that out. All Sigurd and Azure could think about was getting to the poke center and having a nice warm meal and a shower. The exit was now in sight and the group sprinted as fast as they could. That is until one of the Beedrill dropped in front of them with five of his new friends. Ronyo stood between the Beedrill and his new friends he held his hand out to stay them.

?We don?t have the time for this again, and we can?t risk the battle with the pidgey. When I give the word run for the exit and don?t look back, understood?? Ronyo said with while he glared at the Beedrill

?What are you going to?? Azure started

?Understood!??

?Yes,? Azure said a bit shaken

?Yes,? Sigurd second

Ronyo slid his hand behind him and brought out something small. He gave one more glare at the Beedrills and then threw his object like a baseball at the swarm. The object hit and exploded in a cloud of dust, it was one of Ronyo?s repels. Normally it?s thrown around a person and the cloud of chemicals set on a persons cloths which keeps pokemon away, but they didn?t have the time for that so Ronyo did the only thing he could think of.

?Now!?

The group sprinted towards the exit like there lives depended on it. Ronyo and Anubis made sure they were running at the rear to make sure the repel bomb worked. It was, the Beedrill were mad but also scared of the strange attack from a human who shouldn?t be able to do something like that. The bugs flew off in all directions which, unfortunately, included Ronyo and there others.

?Damn, Anubis blast that insect!?

Anubis fired off a fire ball straight at the Beedrill. Do to the insects frenzied flight it didn?t even see the blast. The Beedrill would have slammed right into the group and probably started stinging wildly out of fear. The fire shot slammed into the Beedrill and sent it falling to the ground. Ronyo gave a nod to the Beedrill and ran after his friends with Anubis right behind him. The group meet up on the other side of the gate breathing heavily and shaken. Ronyo and Anubis stood panting and smiled at the others.

?That was fun wasn?t it??

Azure and Sigurd just gave Ronyo a stern look of disagreement.

?Oh, sorry about yelling Azure. I didn?t mean to startle you I wasn?t sure how well the plan would work.?

?That?s ok, you just spooked me. I hadn?t heard you yell yet so I wasn?t ready for it. Thanks for the apology though.?

?So lets head to Pewter Cities poke center and take care of Sigurd?s friend.?

Sigurd smiled as he held the pidgey who also looked a bit shaken but fine for the most part.

"Yeah. This will be a great chance to test our skills for Brock." Ashin said. "Lets go out back. It will make a perfect battle arena."

Ashin's backyard was mostly clear, with a few trees here and there. It was about half a footbal field in size, though part of that space was occupied by a garden.

"My mom can be the judge." Ashin said as they walked outside.

"So how many Pokemon will we use? You only have two." Sergei asked

"I guess you'll just have to pick the two you want and your other Pokemon will have to sit out this time." Ashin said.

"Yeah, okay. That should be okay." Sergei said to himself.

"Hey Sergei, you know Brock is a rock-type trainer. Consider who you'll use to battle him." Ashin said.

Sergei thought for a minute. "Pikachu's got speed, but his attacks probably won't do much damage. Do I want to use Nidoran instead?"

Ashin knew she had made him think for a moment. Would it be smart to use an electric Pokemon against a rock-type, knowing the huge disadvantage. Then another thought struck her. "How am I going to use a Rattata against Brock?" The type disadvantage was just as bad as if it were electric.

"Ready Sergei?" Ashin said a couple of minutes later, as they faced each other on opposite sides of the yard.

"You bet." he replied.

"Alright. Each of you will be able to use 2 Pokemon each. Whoever faints both of the opponent's Pokemon wins. Ready, set, go" Ashin's mom said.

A second later two Pokebals hit the ground. Out of Ashin's came Rattata.

Sergei clutched his hand around his Pokeball tightly and waited for Ashin to throw her Pokemon out. As she did so, Sergei threw his Pokeball out, shouting Nidoran's name when both Pokeball's hit the ground. The Nidoran burst out of the Pokeball in a blur of red energy, scratching the grass with his hind legs like a bull.

"Attack first, Nidoran!" Sergei put his confidence in his Nidoran, knowing his Pokemon didn't need to be ordered around all the time. Nidoran ran forward with its horn pointed at Rattata, possibly taking the Pokemon offguard. Rattata was a pretty quick Pokemon but it didn't react in time to fully dodge Nidoran's attack. Nidoran's horn grazed Rattata's side and the rat Pokemon counter attacked with a tail whip.

Sergei winced. Rattata wasn't really clueless, it certainly knew how to defend itself without its trainers order. Sergei reckoned Nidoran could take a Rattata, though.

"Keep on attacking, Nidoran, you're bound to knock Rattata out!"

Nidoran raced forward again at the Rattata but it was the same result; Rattata dodged it with only a graze. Sergei narrowed his eyes at the two Pokemon battling, watching how Rattata managed to run out of the way. Maybe attacking wasn't such a good idea. Ashin was watching pretty deeply, too, her faith was in the right place, with her Pokemon. And Rattata did a pretty good job.

It wasn't long until Rattata was backed against a tree, whether it knew or not. Sergei let a grin spread across his face. "Best shot, Nidoran!"

Nidoran kicked up dirt with its hind legs and charged forward with its horn aimed at Rattata. It was only then Sergei noticed Nidoran had its eyes closed. He drew in a sharp breath, Ashin noticed Sergei's nervousness and caught on pretty quick.

"Now Rattata!"

Rattata scurred out of the way and Nidoran didn't notice, having its eyes closed. He ran straight into the tree with a heavy bang, hurting itself greatly and staggering back almost as if it were going to faint. Rattata, turning the tables, was now on the attack. It tackled Nidoran sucessfully...

...but not before Nidoran turned its head.

Rattata had tackled into Nidoran's horn. Although Nidoran was sent shakedly to the ground, getting up with a lot of injuries and looking very weak, Rattata also seemed somewhat injured. The two trainers blinked at the situation for awhile, neither knowing exactly what had happened.

"Nidoran poisoned Rattata with its horn..." He muttered.

But now Nidoran was weak. Very, very weak. Rattata looked like it could easily finish Nidoran off even though it was poisoned, a poisoned Pokemon lasted for sometime before it fainted... Sergei gulped, tightening his hands around his Pokeball. He considered it for a moment... his options... until he finally decided he would withdraw Nidoran and send out hopefully his best chance: Charmander.

"All right Rattata. Time to finish this. Use your head on this one." Ashin said. Rattata took the hint and ran at Nidoran top speed with her head down. Sergei reacted quickly, though. "Nidoran, Return." He said, holding Nidoran's Pokeball out in front of him. Rattata skidded to a halt where Nidoran had been a couple seconds earlier and turned around, panting from fatige and poison.

"Charmander, let's go." Sergei said as Charmander came out, looking ready to battle. "Charmander, lets heat things up." Charmander opened his mouth and fire engulfed Rattata, who didn't have enough time to react. Ashin whipped out Rattata's Pokeball and called her back before the fire was gone. "Nice job Rattata. Alright Shinva, your turn." Ashin said as Shinva stepped up. "Shinva, fire won't work. Let's stick with physical attacks. Use speed to your advantage, then follow up with and attack."

"Go Charmander, take that Vulpix down." Charmander and Shinva took off. Charmander dominated the offensive, but nothing was hitting. Shinva just kept avoiding the attacks. "This isn't working Charmander. Give yourself some space and try some fire." Unfortunately, that didn't work either.

Then Ashin got an idea. "Shinva, use a fire attack, then follow with a physical attack when your done." Immediately a ball of fire was coming towards Charmander. He jumped back, only to be hit by Shinva's tackle.

"Charmander, you'll have to catch the Vulpix off guard. Go at it till you get a good hit." Finally Shinva slipped up and Charmander landed an attack. Shinva was scratched on the side by Charmander's claws.

"Go now Shinva, attack it with fire while you can." Shinva's attack seemed to merely glanced off Charmander's leathery skin. "Now run around it in a circle. Confuse it and wait for your chance to attack." As Shinva began to circle, Charmander was having trouble following and began to look dizzy.

Then a red light hit the field and a yellow streak hit the field and began chasing Shinva, who, startled by the yellow following him, ran away from Charmander and back to Ashin, knocking her down by jumping into her arms. The yellow streak swerved, narrowly missing them, and turned back towards Charmander and skidding to a halt in front of him.

"Pikachu?" Sergei said in disbelief. "How did you get out?" Pikachu, startled by the shouting, ran up into a tree. Ashin started to smile. "Poor little Pikachu didn't want Charmander to loose, so he decided to help." Ashin stood up, holding Shinva. "I guess the battle's over. Let's go to the Pokemon Center before dinner."

That was... interesting, Aesera thought as she watched Turbine finish her battle against Brock's assistant, Maxi. Turbine had no idea what was going on, and usually that's a bad thing. But that Murkrow knew what it was doint. It''d be an interesting opponent, that's for sure. Smart, clever, and not afraid to remove Turbine from the equation and fight entirely on its own. I'd like to fight it sometime. Perhaps I'll challenge Turbine to a battle the next time I see her.

It was then that the door to the bathroom opened and a young man stepped out. He looked around the room, and walked over to Aesera as soon as he saw her. I should have known he'd be here, Aesera thought as she saw him coming.

"Hey there, Aesera," the man said. "I was hoping you'd stick around after your battle. I'd' have waited in here, but I really had to take a crap. I managed to last untill the end of your battle, but I just couldn't hold it in any longer."

"You know, Ro, that's just a little bit more than I needed to know," Aesera said to her brother.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Rorohiko replied. "Anyways, like I said, I saw your battle. I have to say, you did very well. I could tell that your opponent didn't know what the hell was going on, and these gym people have seen a lot of different battle strategies."

"Yeah, I knew he'd have seen a lot. I used that to my advantage. He'd seen enough strategies that he'd gotten good at predicting them. I simply used that to my advantage, changing things around on him so many times. He thought he was thwarting my plan while he and Graveler were doing exactly what Absol and I wanted."

"So you did find the Absol, then," Rorohiko said. "I was hoping you would. I made sure that Oak had one available."

Aesera nodded. "I know. Katrina told me. And I would have looked for an Absol anyways, so I was glad for the confirmation that there was one there. You know Ive always liked Absol. Not as much as you, of course, but still."

Rorohiko chockled. "Yeah, I know."

"And let me guess," Aesera said. "You being here in Pewter has something to do with Absol, right?"

"Indeed," Rorohiko confirmed. "As you know, I've been tracking Absol sightings in Kanto, and there've been quite a few around Mt. Moon. I got here pretty late last night, so I stayed in the city, and since I knew when Oak was going to send you all out, I knew you and the others would likely arrive here today. So I decided to stick around and watch your battle."

"So you're off to Mt. Moon, then," Aesera said. "Well, that's where I'll be heading next, of course."

"I know. Want to go with me?"

Aesera shook her head. "No, I think I'll stay here for a while longer. I want to watch more of the others battle, and then I'll probably take my time on the way to Mt. Moon. I have no intention of rushing this journey, you know. But don't worry about it. We may very well run into each other in Mt. Moon."

"Well, I'll see you then," Rorohiko said as he exited the gym. "Bye, Aesera."

"Bye, Ro," Aesera replied, then returned her attention to the batles. Matt was fighting Brock now, and it looked like it was going to be an interesting match.

-----------------------------------------------------

OOC: No, I don't have any real reason for having ROrohiko appear in my post. I just wanted him to show up. He may or may not show up again, but even if he does, it won't be for anything too important. So don't worry, Doublehex. He and Katrina are minor characters in this RPG, much like the relatives of the other characters that've made appearances.

OOC: This battle is taking place a day after Doublehex's. Think of it as a glitch in the game cartridge? ^^;
IC:

Miku walked into Pewter City Gym with a slight air of confidence about her. She was still no real trainer when it came to battles, but the girl was getting to know her natures.
Plus the berry encyclopedia she'd bought had come in handy.
Not only did Miku now know that she wanted to become a researcher of all things berry, she also knew all the attributes of the known berries in the Viridian-Pewter region. Whoever she ended up against in the gym was in for more than one surprise.
"Are you sure of this Sakura?" Miku asked her companion, who was currently taking it easy in the girl's apron pouch, "We could get owned...and you could get hurt. Nature comes in many forms, and rocks are the more destructive of those forms..."
The Cherinbo rolled her eyes, shook her head and disappeared into the pouch.

It took several moments for Miku to realise that the gym was, in fact, empty. Void of life. That there was nothing there. Except for a massive mess, no doubt from a battle the day before.
It was Sakura's idea to search for someone to battle for the Boulder Badge. The fiesty little cherry leapt out of the pouch and darted across the room, nudging the back door open and disappearing out the back of the gym.
"Wha-? Wait Sakura!" Miku chased after her pal. What she saw outside shocked her - Brock was reading a book on Pokemon Breeding while his Onix faced off against his Geodude. Exactly as she had been with her own team not half an hour ago.
"You two sure do like your battles don't you?" the Gym Leader said absent-mindedly to his pokemon.
Wow. Maybe mum lied when I asked her if I was adopted? Miku thought to herself, then cleared her throat, attracting Brock's attention.
"If you want a battle, I'm off for the day. You'll have to find one of my attendants to battle for your Boulder Badge" he said, barely looking over his shoulder at her.
"I would but it appears that your Gym is empty. Plus it's a league requirement that there's someone to recieve a challenge between the hours of 9 A.M and 5 P.M on working days, correct?" Miku was thankful she had read the 'Gyms' section of the Pokemon League handbook a few nights earlier to try and find tips for her battle.
"Yes, you're right..."
Miku smiled, Sakura smirked.
It's on... she thought.

"..but it's a Sunday."
At this Miku's jaw almost touched the ground, and Sakura promptly fell over backwards.
"But..but I thought-"
"I think we can make an exception though, right guys?" said the Pewter Gym Leader, pulling out...
...a walkie-talkie.
Sakura, after standing up, fell forwards.
"Forrest, I have a challenger for you," he said into the communication device, "She's got a grass-type on her, fiesty by the looks of it too. See you in a few."
Miku stood wondering who this alleged 'Forrest' person could be, while Sakura finally managed to stand up properly. The trainer-companion combo looked at one another and tried to send their thoughts psychically, which of course failed, but made for amusing viewing for Brock.

Five Minutes Later: A Bother of a Brother!

"You have 10 minutes to complete this battle; challenger, state your battle-style!" called Brock from the outdoor arena's sidelines.
Miku didn't respond, not knowing what kinds of battle-styles there were to use; so Sakura, the eveready battler, leapt up and hit Mitsuhoney's pokeball, releasing it from it's temporary home.
"The challenger has chosen a double battle! Ready...begin!"
Forrest was the spitting image of Brock, although more youthful and with green [yes green] hair. He had two pokeballs at the ready before Brock had even called to start, and the moment the word 'begin' was out in the open he had a Crobat and Geodude out on the field.
Mitsuhoney and Sakura seemed miniscule to the pokemon they were facing, but they managed to keep their resolve.
The same could not be said for Miku. She stood in one place, almost shivering, all former confidence lost. What if she lost? She only had 10 minutes...would she even last that long anyway? What if her plan was shattered? She had counted on facing Brock himself, and had hoped to be facing off against the Geodude and Onix she had seen the two boys from Pallet Town battle.
Stupid! Why didn't I take this into account? she thought.
It was too late for that now though, things were already in motion.

Crobat circled above Miku's pokemon, way up over the field. The Geodude was launching some sort of an attack where it pounded the ground as it went. Small craters were appearing where it smacked the earth with its fists. Sakura seemed to be jumping from the shaking this technique caused in the surface on which she sat in a trance.
The Crobat began coughing up small clouds, then pushing them around the field with slices of air from its rapidly beating wings.
The attack had begun.
"You don't really think that you, a novice with a bug and a cherry pip, are going to beat a sibling of Pewter's Foundation Stone, do you?" called Forrest from his side of the arena. "You've already lost, girl! My attack's been set up, you're not even going to pass a minute out here!"
Sakura snapped out of her self-induced trance with a plan in mind. She said something to Mitsuhoney, then the two put the plan into action.
Geodude was coming in for it's attack, slowly but surely, and was almost up to the tiny Cherry-Pokemon when Mitsuhoney let out a blast of wind, stopping the rock in mid-pound.
It was true that gust-type attacks were generally useless against the Boulder-Pokemon but when concentrated and at full power, shot at the Geodude while it was off the ground, they could still stop it in its tracks.
Sakura took her chance and locked Geodude down with her Leech Seed, then prepared for her never-miss leaf attack.
As the Cherinbo shot leaf after leaf into the air, and as Mitsuhoney got behind her, ready to add to the attack, the whole thing collapsed around them when Crobat's mist settled around them. It created the necessary amount of cover required to blind Miku's companions, and forced them to end their attempt ad K.O-ing the Geodude.

Miku's Trick: Sweet Mitsuhoney!

Miku couldn't see her pals through the fog, and knew what was happening wasn't good for her or them.
Alright...calm down. Just like you thought up before. You still have the berries...
After less than a second of running random thoughts through her head, the tree-hugger was back in action. She would try her best, even if she couldn't see what was happening.
"Guys, it's time! Put plan Sweet Mitsuhoney into effect!"
Sakura and Mitsuhoney looked back to where Miku's voice came from and got knocked out of the fog by followup attacks from Crobat, but got up quickly after.
There is something different about Mitsuhoney as a Pokemon that separates it from others. It is effectively a living honecomb, capable of storing things in the back of its three heads. Luckily for Sakura, she was small enough to fit in one of these heads, and hid in one of them before Crobat made its way out of the thick haze. Geodude was already down for the count, the Leech Seed draining the last of its energy.
"I don't think I can win at all...Forrest was it?" taunted Miku, "But I know my companions can do it!"
Mitsuhoney flew directly at Crobat, buzzing at a high frequency, then as it reached the bat stopped instantly, spraying thick honey all over it's opponent's wings.
The sweet honey made inside of a Mitsuhoney is a replenishing mixture, but unless refined properly, is similar to a heavy-duty super glue. The Crobat didn't stand a chance, and dropped to the field like a stone.
Mitsuhoney turne to face Miku, and almost looked as if it were smiling. What Crobat saw was Sakura, perched in the back of the flying honeycomb. She smirked, gave Crobat a dark look and launched itself onto the bat, slicing twice with her leaf to silence it incessant screeching.

The Aftermath

"Wha-...what have you done?" cried Brock's younger brother, as the haze cleared. "Crobat! Geodude!"
He ran to his Pokemon, returning them to their respective pokeballs and releasing them from their battle-prisons.
Miku stood where she had been shaking just two minutes ago, shocked. The plan had succeeded, and they hadn't even needed to bring the berries into it.
Maybe Mother Nature intended for us to fight battles? she thought.
Brock ran over to hand her the Boulder Badge, "Here, you earned it."
He looked back at his little brother.
"You should probably go. I'll need to clear this up and tend to his emotional wounds. Well done rookie, you have a tough pair there."
That was the last Miku saw of the brothers as she turned to leave the Gym, still stunned, Pokemon in tow.

At the Pewter City Pokecenter the trio were seeing to Sigurd?s hurt pidgey friend.

?So, who does this little guy belong to?? asked nurse Joy

?Well no one nurse Joy, we found him beat up in the forest.? Sigurd answered

?Yes, we brought him here because we didn?t no how hurt he might be.? Ronyo added

?Really? That was quite kind of you, Sigurd was it? He did have some injuries that will need sometime to heal, so it might be best to come back in awhile.? nurse Joy smiled

?Hey, we can go check out the gym while little pidgey heals.? Azure piped in

?Sounds like a plan to me. I think pidgey is in good hands.? Ronyo smiled

The group from Viridian Forest began to head over to the Pewter City Gym when the saw quite a gathering already there. As they got closer they saw it was people watching a battle going on inside. Ronyo, Azure, and Sigurd pushed past the crowd to get inside the gym for a better see, being a trainer had its advantages. The trio saw a number of people from Oak?s place. Most were watching a heated battle taking place with The head Gym Leader Brock and the boy Ronyo thought was called Matt.

?Look at that Onix, its huge.? Azure pointed out, the two boys were already watching the hulking beast.

?That?s the Onix Brock used in the war. I don?t know the details all I know is that is one tough Onix.? Ronyo stated as he watched in awe as the two trainers fought on.

?Can we even hope to beat something like that. I means its just so?..huge.? Azure mumbled as the towering pokemon bashed its tail down on the ring. The impact shook the entire gym and left a crater in its wake.

?The news from Viridian is Brock never uses this guy. This has to be a special occasion. See all those scars, that Onix has fought more battles then most trainers do with all there pokemon. Good luck Matt.? Ronyo gave a little bow in Matt?s direction.

?You still haven?t answered me. Even if Brock doesn?t use this guy, how can we beat such a giant pokemon?? Azure asked again

?We have to have faith in our team and ourselves. I won?t deny that I?m worried myself but that?s a good thing. If we went in there with big heads and the idea we would win hands down, well then we would be beat for sure. Like I said to Sigurd, we have to use the skills our pokemon know best.? Ronyo?s speech seemed to help all of them, even Ronyo himself.

?Your right, I?m gonna do my very best and I know my pokemon will do the same.? Azure said as she smiled at her Cyndaquil in her arms.

?Yeah will show everyone what we both can do, right Eevee?? Sigurd looked at he?s Eevee on he?s shoulder who was staring at the Gym Leader with a look of Challenge.

?Wow, maybe I should right some of these things down. They seem to be working.? Ronyo grinned as he rubber the back of his head. Anubis just gave an approving bark.

After watching everyone else's gym battles, Aesera spent what was left of the day in Pewter, mainly just walking through the city with Absol. The two of them did take a break for some strategy discussion, but aside from that Aesera didn't think about anything related to being a trainer.

Aesera and Absol spent the night at Pewter's Pokemon Center. As Aesera left the Pokemon Center the next morning, she caught sight of a young woman she recognized as Miku, one of those who'd been at Oak's. She seemed to be heading towards the gym, so Aesera decided to follow her. She wanted to see how Miku battled.

Gyms were open on Sundays, but they weren't required to accept challenges. However, Brock had an assistant who seemed willing to battle Miku. Aesera watched the battle from the observation area, and she was impressed. Miku was clearly nervous, but she didn't let that stop her. She was clearly one who understood how important it was to be properly prepared, as her pre-made battle plan demonstrated. Additionally, she seemed able to adapt quickly to unexpected developments, and she also knew to trust the Pokemon, that they knew what they were doing. And Aesera could also tell how much Miku cared for the two Pokemon with her. Perhaps Miku would be a good traveling companion.

Aesera exited the gym and walked around to the main entrance just in time to catch Miku as she exited. "Hello," Aesera said. "Miku, right? I remember you from Oak's."

Miku nodded. "That's right. And you're... Aesera, was it?"

"Yes," Aesera confirmed. "I saw your battle, there. That was pretty good."

"You think so?"

"Definitely," Aesera replied. "I could see how nervous you were, but you certainly didn't let that stop you. Any you clearly knew what you were doing. I could also tell that you entered battle well-prepared, which a lot of beginning trainers don't do. No, you did quite well."

"Well, thank you," Miku said. "Are you here to battle for your badge?"

"No, I got mine yesterday. That was quite a fun match, I have to say. I didn't actually fight Brock, but an assistant, Eso. He was quite good. That guy knew his stuff, but Absol and I still managed to kick his ass."

"What'd you do?" Miku asked.

"Well, I knew coming in that Brock and his assistants would be used to beginning trainers, trainers who tend to be predictable. Eso thought he knew what I was up to, but of course that was only what he was supposed to think. Absol and I kept turning things around on him, and eventually he dropped his guard, giving Absol the opportunity she needed to knock Graveler out of the arena. It was quite an enjoyable match."

"Yeah, sounds like you had fun. That's not really my thing, though. I didn't really want to do a gym battle. Sakura here is the one who wanted to fight. And it went pretty well. I'm not so sure I want to do more of that, but if my Pokemon want me to, I will. And even if I don't challenge another gym, I'll still be traveling. I've taken an interest in the various berries that Pokemon can use."

"That is an interesting topic," Aesera said. "I've often wondered what it is that gives those berries their various properties. Maybe you could tell me someday, once you figure it out. Anyways, are you heading for Cerulean next?"

Miku nodded. "Yeah, that's my next destination. I'll probably end up taking the same path through Kanto that most trainers do."

"Well," Aesera said, "I've mostly been traveling by myself so far-well, just me and Absol, anyways. What would you say to traveling together?"

"Sure," Miku replied. "Just let me stop by the Pokemon Center first, and then we'll go."

Aesera nodded. "Fine by me. Let's not delay too long, though. I like to take my time when I can, but I want to reach Cerulean in time to see the other trainers battle at the gym. Don't worry about it too much, though. It'll probably take the others a while to pass through Mt. Moon, but my sister's familiar with the place, and she wrote down the shortest path through. Also, I've got the right equipment to make sure we don't lose our way. So don't worry about rushing. We'll go when you're ready."

Turbine was well aware that she had done very little in the winning of her first badge. She hadn't shouted much other than Fu's name, but the little black bird seemed in control most of the match anyway. Fu glided in front of her trainer happily, flipping and rolling around in the air as she went. Turbine chuckled quietly to herself at the giddiness of her Murkrow.

The two of them hadn't stayed around to watch Matt's battle with Brock, Turbine figuring her business in Pewter City was done, and Fu following obediently. If they had stayed much longer, Turbine would've grown angrier at the fact that she hadn't battled Brock himself, but merely an aid. She waved the thought from her mind, not wanting to dwell on it too long. They walked by the trainers they had defeated the previous night for training before going to the gym on Route 3 before reaching a PokéCenter beside the mouth to a large cave. Entering the building, Turbine was almost immediately harassed by a man offering a flopping fish for some money.

"I can catch my own Magikarp with my eyes closed, hands tied behind my back, and at the top of Mt. Silver they're so common. So no thanks," she replied angrily. Guys like him tried to pass off rip-off deals to new trainers all the time, and even long-time trainers like her brother fell for their tricks (though she attributed that to his stupidity). "Unlike my moron brother, I'm not going to fall for that," she mumbled to herself, walking up to the nurse at the counter.

"How may I help you today?" she asked.

"I just want my pokémon refreshed before I head into Mount Moon," Turbine replied, Fusha landing on the counter as she handed her Fuwante, currently in her pokéball, over to the woman.

"No problem. It'll be a couple of minutes. Feel free to read a magazine while you wait."

The nurse took the two pokémon as Turbine walked over to a magazine rack. Several were merely gossip magazines, talking about the latest movie stars and who they had been seen with, and others were scientific papers about varying theories. The one that caught her attention had a small picture of her on the cover. She grabbed it and flipped through the pages vigorously until she found the small column on her.

It was an interview with one of the reporters and, of course, her brother. The article was about her brother attempting to dispel the rumors, which made her lighten up a little. He may be an annoying doofus, but she had to admit that he stood up for her a lot, whether she liked it or not. Placing the magazine in her bag so she could finish reading it later, figuring that one off the rack wouldn't be missed, she walked back over to the woman who had just returned with her pokémon.

"Here you go. Back in perfect health!"

"Thank you very much."

Turbine reattached Fuwante's pokéball to her belt and Fusha landed on her shoulder before she walked out of the building. It was still the afternoon, but it was beginning to cool down. She rubbed her arms a bit to warm them up before walking into the cave. It wasn't as dark as she expected it to be, but she still had to take a moment or two to let her eyes adjust. She hadn't taken two steps before she was confronted by a wild Paras. Uninterested, she didn't even bother commanding Fusha to get rid of the creature as the two of them walked around it. It followed at her heels for a while, despite her attempts to shoo it away.

"Leave me alone already, dammit," Turbine growled, already losing her patience. As she finally scared off the tiny bug pokémon, a young boy surrounded by a flock of Zubat ran by. Hearing his cries for help, Turbine chased after him.

"Fuwante, go!" she shouted, tossing her latest pokémon's ball in front of her. The balloon creature floated around happily before she was ordered to help the boy. Sucking in air, the enlarged pokémon glided underneath the boy and, once he was firmly seated on the tuft of cloud on her head, faded away before reappearing at Turbine's side. "Fusha, get 'em," she instructed. Turning to the boy, she helped him onto the ground and told him to get out of there. Fusha promptly frightened the Zubat away and returned to Turbine's shoulder.

"Um, miss?" Turbine looked down to see the boy tugging at her glove.

"I thought I told you to get out of here. Zubat's are bloodsuckers, you know."

"I can't get back outside to where my big brother is. There's a man who won't let me by. I went looking for another way out, but I got lost and now I'm back here at the entrance again..." Turbine rolled her eyes, knowing she was going to help the boy out, but she was annoyed all the same.

"Well, I have to get to Route 4, too, so I might as well help you out," she sighed. She started walking, though she was pretty much clueless as to where it was she was going, and turned back to see the boy had not moved. "Well c'mon!"

---

"We're lost."

"I'm well aware of that. I think we're close, though."

Turbine, her two pokémon, and the boy whose name was revealed to be Jack, but was constantly referred to as 'kid' by the irritated trainer, had been walking, climbing, and fighting throughout Mount Moon, but had yet to find the man blocking the exit. Turbine had found some items along the way, varying from extra pokéballs to strange candies that she kept just out of curiosity. She had also fought several trainers along the way, using Fuwante instead of Fusha to give her new pokémon some experience. The balloon creature had done very well so far, and she wondered how experienced it had become prior to being caught.

"There he is!" the boy shouted excitedly, tugging at Turbine's hand and running forward.

"It's about damn time," she grumbled following after him. Just as the boy had described during their exploration through Mount Moon, the glasses-wearing man refused to let either of them by, claiming that if he let them through, they'd just steal one of his fossils. Turbine quickly grew impatient, and burst out angrily when he wouldn't let her say anything at all for several minutes while he rambled on. Lunging forward, she reached out for the man's shirt and pulled forcefully so that their noses were only an inch or two apart when she started yelling at him.

"Oh, just shut UP already! We don't care about your goddamn fossils, or whatever it is you're obsessing over. Keep them for all I care! I wouldn't have even noticed they were there if you hadn't flipped out at me for trying to walk by! I just--... We just want to get by you so we can get out of this cold, damp, Zubat-infested cave and get to Route 4 and move on, okay? Okay."

She had cooled down towards the end of her rant, and was no longer shouting, though her grip remained strong on his collar.

"You're lying!" the man retorted, spitting a bit in Turbine's face. That was the last straw, and she angrily tossed him into the dirt of the cave floor.

"Alright, that's it. I'm sick and tired of you. I could get arrested on a charge of assault if I just beat the living crap out of you, like I want to do real bad right now. So I'll just have my pokémon do it for me. One-on-one," she ordered. Almost immediately, the man got back on his feet, pushed up his glasses, and released a Grimer. Fusha began flying forward, but Turbine returned her to her pokéball and sent out Fuwante instead.

"I'll show you who deserves that badge," she grumbled under her breath, clenching her fist tightly. "Stay back, okay kid?" Jack, who had been standing behind her, nodded and took a few steps back, though he made sure he could see all the action.

"Fuwante! Um... Try body slamming it!" she suggested. She hadn't fought a pokémon like Grimer yet, and was unsure of how to fight it. Unfortunately, her first attempt was unsuccessful, as Fuwante's body merely got stuck in the ooze that made up the opposing pokémon. "Dammit," she cursed, biting her lip as she tried to think of what to do next. Before she could shout out another suggestion, the glasses-wearing man barked his order.

"Use your sludge!"

In response, the Grimer pulled a part of itself off, turning it into a ball, and threw it, full force, at Fuwante. Fuwante was so close that the force of the sludge actually separated her from her attacker. Turbine had, by then, thought of a plan, and shouted out to her pokémon.

"Confuse it, Fuwante!" she called. Obediently, the balloon pokémon's eyes locked with those of the living sludge, and soon it was acting very peculiar. Fuwante flew around it, getting it to swing for her, but only hit itself in the end. "Finish it off with, uh, I don't know. Some ghost move!" she cried. She blamed her lack of knowledge of techniques on her never having battled with pokémon until two days ago, though she couldn't help but feel embarrassed that she couldn't think of something for Fuwante to do.

Nonetheless, her last instruction gave Fuwante enough of an idea of what to do that the man's Grimer was defeated with her last hit. He apologized relentlessly, even offering one of his fossils as repayment so she wouldn't beat on him anymore.

"Fine," Turbine sighed, grabbing one of them with little interest. She planned to sell it later for money when she got the time. Grabbing Jack by the hand, she walked him out of the cave, Fuwante gliding behind them in the same oblivious manner as she always did. After adjusting to the light of the sun once again, they spotted Jack's older brother and the two of them parted ways. She tried her best to seem pleasant, and was surprised when Jack had so many good things to say about her when walking off with his brother. She let a small smile spread across her face before Fuwante floated into the back of her head, reverting her back to her quiet and generally grumpy self.

"Next stop, Cerulean City. And this time, I'm not going to settle for one of Misty's aids," she said to herself as she began walking towards the city. "You'll help me, right Fuwante?" The balloon squeaked happily as it flew in circles around Turbine's head for a while. "Alright, cut it out. You're making me dizzy."
OOC: Looooong post. o__o;; I hope the length will make up for me being gone for the past two weeks (or was it three? x_x). Apologies to you all, and sorry if Turbine being all by herself is a bad thing. D: But yeah. Life is better, and I'll be on more frequently now. xD

As Brendan got home from his vacation in Slateport, he checked his mail at the front of his home, and he saw a yellow heavy paper envelope with not only a Pelipper stamp, but a stamp that had a Squirtle, a Charmander, and a Bulbasaur. He flipped the letter over, and he saw a name that was known across the whole world. One of the leaders in the war. One who made technology what it is today. One who is striving to find out the mystery behind the creatures that we call Pocket Monsters...Professor Oak.

"Nah, it's probably just a joke or something," Brendanthought as he walked in thorugh his house. He called once, twice until he saw a small piece of white paper on the coffee table that had his dad's letter written on it.

It said:

"Hey, hope you had a nice time in Slateport. Your mother, your brother, and I are in Johto, and won't be back in 2 months. We left 3,000 pokedollars in the safe, and I hope that's enough to take care of you (don't spend it all in a week!). Growlithe has been in the laundry room for a day, so take him outside because he's probably killing to pee right now. We miss you. Make sure Growlithe eats and eat healthy yourself. You know my poke-gear number but incase you forgot, 305-4958. We love you, see you in 2 months. Dad."

Brendan couldn't believe that his parents were in another country and left him with all that money. He set the envelope and the piece of paper on the coffee table, and walked over accross the kitchen and opened a door.

"Gruff, Gruff", said the family black striped puppy pokemon.

"Hey Growlithe, how ya doin'?", asked Brendan as he opened the door to the back yard of his house with the incredible Mossdeep sea view.

"Yea, I missed that view," said the 16 year old boy thinking very poetically. He went back in and into the living room about to call his parents when he saw the envelope again.

"Could it actually be...no, why would he write to me, in another nation?", Brendan asked himself. He went over to the coffee table, opened up the evelope and read another letter addressed to him.

"Dear Brendan, I want you to come by my house ASAP, I can't explain right now because I really don't have the time."

What? That made no sense! Proffessor Oak had never met him, how could he know his name. It had to be a prank. He forgot about the whole thing and called his dad's pokegear number.

"Hello?"
"Hey dad."
"Hey son, how are you?"
"Good. So you left me all alone to go to Johto?"
"Yea, I had to go meet a workmate of mine in New Bark Town."
"Hmmm..sounds interesting. How is it th--"
"Did you get a letter from Proffessor Oak?"
"Yea, I guess. How did you know about that?"
"Before your mom and I left Profferssor Birch told me that Oak sent you a letter and you were supposed to be there yesterday, and I guess, your mom and I didn't check the mail before we left."
"So, it's all true?"
"I guess. You better get over there as soon as possible, and take Growlithe with you. It's really early, 8 o'clock in fact, you might get to Pallet Town by noon if you hurry."
"Okay, well, I'll take the money you gave me. I'll call when I get there, say hi to mom for me. Talk to you later."
"Will do. Bye, I love you."
"Love you too. Bye.", Brendan hung up, and he went to go pack. He got some food and went to get Growlithe's pokeball. He grabbed the ultra ball and went outside.

"'Kay, Growlithe, get in", Brendan commanded. Growlithe shook his head.

"Please!!", Growlithe shook his head again.

"Fine, c'mon." Brendan put the pokeball in his pocket and walked out the door when he realized that he was in Hoenn and Pallet Town was in Kanto.

"How the Hell am I going to get there?"

"Okay, we need to get to an airport and fast," Brendan said to Growlithe, "Maybe, Steven could help us," Steven was a pokemon master and was also one of the leaders in the war along Brock and Roxanne. Brendan's Father and Steven were really good friends, especially since Brendan's Dad owns the biggest Armaldo fossil in the world, and Steven was really into that kinda stuff.

"I hope he's home today," said Brendan while knocking on the door. After a few minutes the white-haired man came out.

"Oh, Brendan I'm really busy right now, so you'll have to talk to me some other time," Steven said while closing the door.

"No, wait, Steven, I need to get to Pallet Town fast," said Brendan.

"To Oak's house?" asked Steven as Brendan nodded, "What does he want with you?"

"Well, I'm not sure, but I have to get there ASAP," said Brendan, "Do you think maybe you can talk to the Space Center, and maybe they can give me a ride."

"Hahah, they can't just give you a ride, look I'm busy, but maybe Liza and Tate could help you."

"Are you kidding me?? Liza and Tate, they're not going to be able to help me, they don't even know me!!" Brendan exclaimed.

"Here's this badge," Steven showed Brendan a small, metal, red shield with what looked like a white egg on top of it, "When you show this badge at some places, you get priveledges, like in Pokemon Centers and such, just because you're a member of this club, that many gym leaders, pokemon reaserchers, top 4 members, and some coordinators, trainers, and breeders are in. When you show them to the Liza and Tate, they'll know for sure that you're coming from me."

"Wow, thanks," said Brendan.

"No prob, now, if you'll excuse me, I'm having a meeting about Beldum," Steven said.

"Uh, yeah, I'll get out of your way, thanks a lot," Brendan yelled as he was running towards the Mossdeep City Gym.

"Just give me back the badge as soon as you get back to Mossdeep!!"

"Okay, thanks again!!" yelled Brendan as the sight of Steven was disappearing.

"Okay, Growlithe, I want you to get back in your pokeball," Brendan commanded while still running.

"Gro," said Growlithe shaking its head.

"You can't travel like this if you don't get back in your pokeball," Brendan said trying to convince him. The canine pokemon still shook his head.

"Alright, fine, we have to keep running at least three more miles."

After thirty minutes Brendan and Growlithe finally got to the Gym from running 3 miles straight. They ran into the Gym until a woman of about 20 years stopped them.

"Where do you two think you're going?"

"We're looking for Liza or Tate, this is an emergency. I come from Steven, see, his badge," Brendan said as he showed her the badge that he now wore on the right side of his jacket's chest.

"Oh, I'll get you to them, follow me," the woman said as she turned and started walking. They kept walking straight until they got to an enourmous room where there was many different planet sculptures floating above them.

"Liza, this kid comes from Steven Stone."

"Okay, what do you need?" asked Liza, one of the Gym Leaders. Brendan was staring at the beautiful face that he saw many times in a lot of different magazines. Ever since Liza and Tate's father went off into space, they were the ones in charge of the gym, since they were twins.

"Me and Growlithe need to get to Pallet Town fast," said Brendan.

"I can't just take you to Kanto like that."

"Will this badge work for you?" Brendan asked pointing at the little medal that was pinned on his chest.

"Actually, yes. But that Growlithe needs to get in his pokeball, because we're going to be flying on my Salamence"

"Growlithe, please?"

"Gro, Gruff," Growlithe barked shaking its head once again.

"Will you please take care of him for me?"

"Only for a while, until I can convince him to go back into his pokeball, once you get to Kanto," Liza said with a smile.

"Okay, Growlithe I want you to stay in the gym, and listen to Liza, and I'll see you in a little while," Brendan said to Growlithe, then turned to the gym leader,"Please take care of him for me, he's not even mine, he's my family's, he doesn't like to fight, and he obviously won't do anything that you force him to."

"That's fine, I know how to deal with Pokemon like that."

"Thank you."

"Now, follow me, we're going to get to Kanto in maybe 7 hours, so go to the bathroom if you want."

"I'm fine. See ya Growlithe."

"Follow me."

Hey, GetsYoTreeFed93! You're doing several things thw wrong way now.

For starters, you have no right to write in those RPGs here at the Square that you haven't signed up for at the Inn. That's basic stuff which you would've know if you would've read the obligatory Adventure Square Basics, which is a sticky thread at the top of the page with an extensive list of rules that one should follow when playing here.

Secondly, the last reply to this thread was well over a month ago, which means that nobody's playing in this anymore. This is called "gravedigging" that you're doing, and it's also a no-no.

And for third, do not double post, we have an edit button if you need to change something in your post.

Hope you'll learn from this, so you'll come to enjoy your hopefully long stay at OtakuBoards, but for now, consider yourself warned.

If you have any more questions about how to play here at the Square, we moderators are only a private message away!

I will also lock this thread now to avoid future misuses.
