This is just something I have been wondering for sometime now. Some animes make good games but can games make good animes? For example, Could Halo be a good Anime series? I think so. But I am wondering which games you think would make awesome Animes?

My top 3 are:

1. Halo
2.Pikmin
3.StarCraft

Why Halo, why Pikmin, why Starcraft? Why not Marathon, Lemmings, or Warcraft? Give us a little more to work with. Explain your answers, don't just create lists. -r2

Kya dark linage- the classic game from atari where she has to find her way home from a different dimension and fight off evil wolfens that game should have been an anime a long time ago

Johnny bazookatone- find a speical guitar that can bring piece to the world

Pikimin- have little creatures help you get home that would be an awesome Anime cartoon

Warioworld- see how marios rival could do with a tv show.

Takashi Tao, I know it must not be hard but please try to improve umpon your punctuation and grammer. A couple of periods and capital letters wouldn't hurt as well. ~Ikillion

A game I think should be an anime is Tales of Symphonia. I have heard rumors about one, but no one I know has heard anything about it.
You heard correctly, they are making one. ^_^ Here's a link with info on that:
Tales Of Symphonia Anime I know I'm looking forward to seeing it!

One I would like to see is Dragon Quest VIII Journey of the cursed king. It already has a wonderful storyline and well developed characters. And the whole storyline along with magic and an evil
lord of darkness
would really fit the anime format. It's almost like an anime tale that was turned into a game so I'm thinking it would be easy to make an anime of it. ^_^

Heh, The only title that I know which would have a very succesful adaptation would have to be any of the Zelda series. Yet when one thinks of it there are many parallels between it and mario. Princess gets kidnapped, the hero must go save her blah blah blah.

I wouldn't be able to call this a thread if I didin't include Katamri in it. I think that would make a great anime, although it may be more along the lines of the randomness much like Bo-bo-bo.

Well one game I know i'd love to see as a movie is Metal Gear Solid, specifically 3. It would probably make a great anime too, but this is a rare occaision in which i'd rather see something made into a movie in stead.

I think GoW would make a pretty awesome anime...i've always been a fan of mythology based stories and such, and the game was one of the best action games i've played for the PS2.

Shadow of the Collosus is another one i'd like to see, it would need a great deal of elaboration though if it is to be made into an anime.

And i've heard that there was already an animated series made dedicated to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel, but i don't know if it was poorly done with little detail and hardly covers the timeline well enough to convey a decent story, or if it is worth watching. In any case though, I'd like to see a remake of it that captures the essence of the novel more so than the Dynasty Warriors game, with the exception of character models. I wouldn't mind seeing the DW char models used.

That's true of probably the majority of stories on any medium out there, though. Even if we replaced "princess" with someone else that needs saving. It's kind of just an easy thing to fall back to... but in that case, what makes them so insanely different are the characters and just the universe they inhabit.

So, basically, I don't think it'd be much of an issue.

When I first saw this thread, I hesitated, thinking that I would probably only put in my favourite games. But then I realized that neither Mario Bros., Tetris, or Super Smash Bros. wouldn't interest me as a movie, series, or OVA.

What would intrigue me are the games that already have good storylines but leave lots of questions unanswered. For example, wouldn't we all benefit from a movie based off of Shadow of the Colosus, and then a sequel based off Ico? This series already has a compelling story with the added bonus of being so different that we wouldn't come across any of the regular video game stereotypes. The only drawback would be the lack of diologue in the feature, but that is something that might actually work for the film.
Heh, The only title that I know which would have a very succesful adaptation would have to be any of the Zelda series.[/SIZE']
There was a Zelda series already. Link had brown hair and talked like a surfer. It wasn't very good.

I wouldn't mind a Zelda series if it were done in the style of the upcoming Twilight Princess. Otherwise, I'd be worried that the series would be too campy and self depricating. The darkness of Twilight Princess intrigues me and is one of the draws it has on me. Though, would you ever hear Link talk in the show? Or just "hu!" and "ha!" and "ahhhhhhhhhh!"

heh.... heh...
You know what would be a good game to turn into an Anime?

I would like for kingdom hearts to be turn into a anime, I think that it would make a really good one.

BHK, since Otakuboards emphasizes on conversation, how about a little more fodder for the conversational fire? Why would Kingdom Hearts be a really good Anime? Is that the only game you'd suggest? Any games you wouldn't want to see as an Anime? Give us a little something to work with. Future posts with such little content will probably just be considered spam and deleted. PM me or any of the other moderators if you have any questions. -r2

I think that Digiital Devil Saga really needs to be turned into an anime or visual medium of sorts. It was an absolutley amazing story, but it just does not fit the videogame medium at all. I don't know if it was because of the colored hair the main characters had, but it just seems like to me it would fit better as a TV or Anime series than a video game.

Interesting, most interesting.

Personally I'd like to see Lionhead's Fable turned into an anime, like Zelda it has many of the usual anime roots, young boy orphaned by an evil warlord due to an important family secret, taken by a powerful wizard to be trained to be a hero and avenge his family. Of course it was Fable's quite distinct graphics that made it such a hit, as well as it's compelling storyline if we exclude the woeful addition in the form of The Lost Chapters final few quests. Jack of Blades is definitely up there in the Top 100 PC game villains and I think it could work quite well as an anime.

Compellign storyline? Awesome villains? You are not serious! It has some of the most cliched storylines of all time. You pretty much knew what was going on with the story around every turn. Each of the plt twists were something a three year old could write down. And its length was inexcusable (10 hours for an RPG?). The only thing that saved the game was its amazing gameplay.

I would have to say the half life II games should be turned into an anime, because over all you have this storyline about
the combine coming to earth and enslaving it within a seven hour time period and Dr. Freeman has to overturn the totalitarian rule
also due to the fact that my computer isnt fast/powerful enough to run the game(s) and that valve takes forever to port/develop the games.
another reason is to see the reactions of Freeman when certain things happen like when
he arrives at ravenholm or when he destroys the city 17 citadel

Um... there's only really one game I can think of right now, and its:
Valkyrie profile 2: silmeria, it would be awesome to see an anime of that, it has such a cool story!

Oh, and I also agree with:
For example, wouldn't we all benefit from a movie based off of Shadow of the Colosus[/b']
Shadow of the Colossus was an awesome game! :D

Oh come on Doublehex, you have to admit that Jack of Blades was a cool villain,
and even Maze's turning on the Guild came as a shock
at least to me. While I accept that the length of the game itself was not something to be joyful about, indeed I regularly master everything in the game and come out at under 15 hours, but the storyline is so typical of an anime it could be easily converted.

On that note, even though they did a great job of it, I'd like to see Knights of the Old Republic turned into an anime as well, if only for the same reasons as Fable, along with the fact that it's Star Wars, and anything SW is automatically cool in my books, that and a fully animated HK-47 defies the awesomeness scale.

I came specifically to this thread to say that the Romance of the Three Kingdoms using the Dynasty Warriors character models would be excellent. The story line would have many elements that would attract viewers. For example you have the relationship between Liu Bei and Sun Shang Xiang and how they are brought together for political reasons, fall in love then are torn apart by war. The battles would be epic! Drama and action told with beautiful and ornate character design...it would be a pleasure to watch.

I whole-heartedly agree that Dynasty Warriors would make an excellent anime.

Been a while since I've last posted something, but in any case, I agree with this. Not specifically just 3, but all of them. More of 1 and 2 though ^_^. In a lot of ways I can see Konami and Production I.G. teamming up for this. "coughs" Ghost in the Shell.

What else...? That's about it. Devil May Cry is already getting an anime. I guess the only other one I'd want to see as an anime would be Ninja Gaiden. No take that back. Shenmue. But I don't know how that one could be approached. I just know it'd be more movie-like.

Even though I think that it would be wierd to see, the though of having Okami as an Anime would be intresting. Yet it could be countered by the fact that the main character is a dog and needs someone else to speak for them but it could be rather intresting. If I had to guess I would think that it would be drawn much like the Vietuful Joe one was, since the games had similar art styles.

As for the other on I had just though of I think that Star Fox would be a wonderful one. Since they can, from time to time, have a multitude of enemies and such. Just the thoug of it sounds cool though. With the fact that they are all mercs. the storyline could be countinues but may be repetitive after a while.

Yeah I agree with Gavin. Fable was a great game with a great storyline. And Lost Chapters added on with Jack of Blades coming back in what seemed to be Hell. But, one thing would bother me. How would Alignment be shown? It was one of the things that made Fable great also. Could there be two heros?

And the way I see it about KOTOR anime. It would most likely be in the style of Clone Wars off of Cartoon Network. And that is not a bad thing. I would love to see HK's personality with animation. But the same question as with Fable Anime. How would Alignment be shown? Only one Revan and only One Exile.

Though, if they changed the story, I would probably watch. xD

Animes based on games tend to never follow the story of the game. If Gungrave followed the storyline of the game it would be a piece of crap since the games story was horrible. The anime however was amazing. Same with Star Ocean they carry the same name of the game but they would change the story. Besides the story to Star Fox 64 wasnt bad at all.

Honestly I hadn't thought about alignment as I always play as a good guy, seriously I've never actually played Fable as a villain. Besides from the point of view of most animes, nearly every hero is good,
and even if they're not seeing as your ultimate mission is to take out Jack of Blades, you're not exactly going to hop onto the evil bandwagon and join him
. As for the last few bits in TLC, I really felt that cheapened the ending of the game as it barely tied to what you had done already.

Yeah I was thinking Clone Wars template too, as for the alignment, well that's a lot simpler than Fable as canonically Revan is male and light-sided. I'd rather not see an anime of KOTOR 2 unless they went to a heck of a lot of effort to clean up it's mess of a storyline and dire characters.
