Most Amazing Concert Experiences

Has anyone ever been to a concert that seemed like heaven?

Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Period. I first heard of them when my dad took me to their concert last year, and I was blown away. This year was even better, because I had a friend with me, it was on a Friday instead of a Sunday, and I had favorites to look forward to.

Of course, the concert itself was amazing. TSO consists of 16 members and a small orchestra; three guitars, seven or more vocalists, two pianos, a huge drumset, an a "strings maestro." On top of their huge, godlike sound, they had hundreds of lighting fixtures that shot flames and multicolored lazers and everything of the sort in perfect sync to their music.

This year was VERY similar to last year. They opened with Wizards in Winter (the song from the lighted house video that turned into a beer commercial) and went straight into their Christmas Eve and Other Stories album. After the rock opera, they loosened things up a bit with some other songs of theirs, as well as a classic rock song that my dad said was one of his favorite songs. I remember them doing all of my favorites: Queen in the Winter Nights, Christmas Canon Rock, Carmina Burana, Beethoven's Ninth, an insanely powerful Requiem (complete with tons of fire), and the best closer any one could hope for...Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24.

That wasn't all that happened. After the concert, my group and I waited in line for about half an hour and finally met the members of the band. I was a little starstruck; I've never met anyone that talented before. Each of them signed the back of my ticketmaster paper, I shook several hands, and my friend told Ana Phoebe that she's a goddess. My favorite member, other than the vocalists and Ana, is probably Angus Clark. Not only is he attractive, but when I passed him, he looked at my shirt and said,

"AFI is a good band!"

I couldn't really say anything then. And I really couldn't say anything when he offered me a guitar pick. Signed and everything.

After the concert, my group and I went to McDonalds, which is a perfect thing to do when you haven't eaten all day, it's 1:30 AM, and you've just witnessed the best concert you could possibly see.

That does sound like one amazing concert, Clurr.

The most amazing concert I have been to would be Eastercamp 2002, which is a relatively small, local Easter-message-related Christian rock concert held over the Easter weekend. I say 2002, because for me that was the one time I attended that it was really powerful and moving, the rest since have felt rather commercial, pretty much forgettable.

But 2002, that rocked!

Now, concerts I wish I could go to are another story too, and I would probably pick Pink Floyd's P*U*L*S*E tour. I have seen snippets of the DVD and it is amazing, the lighting, pyrotechnics, everything. A visual representation of the Dark Side of the Moon? I so wanna be there!

Well...

Back in 2001 I saw The Big Day Offest. No one really mattered except Slipknot XD. Now, I'm not much of a Slipknot fan, but their show was freaking great. When two of the dudes got up on the big amps and jumped off into the crowd, the security guys were going crazy. There was lots of fire and stuff which was cool.

That was probably the best individual performance I've seen.

The other would be Ozzfest 2006, which featured a myriad of metal bands. What made this cool was my brother and I during the main stage performances. Unfortuanetally, we missed Dragonforce because we were backstage with Bad Acid Trip, but we made up for it the rest of the time.

OUR CROWD WAS LAME!!!

Every single person just SAT there. All the way up until Disturbed came out everyone was sitting down! There were only 2 people who stood up, headbanging like madmen and throwing our devil horns about like wild -- my brother and I. Some lady actually had the nerve to ask us to sit down during Avenged Sevenfold. Some guy comes over to us and says,

"You guys kick *** man! You don't have to sit down for anyone!" And boy, we didn't. We also got props from some stoner dude during System of a Down.

Couldn't get up for days afterwords XD.

The Dresden Dolls with Jason Webley and the Red Paintings. Webley was amazing, the Dolls rocked the house, and the Red Paintings... the less said the better. Jason Webley's appearances made my night though, he was so ****ing awesome. Add into this equation three drunk friends, and you have the second best outing I've been on all year (the best being the outing where I met my gf, of course).

The best concert I ever attended was this summer's For the Kids Fest, held in a bookstore in Chapel Hill, NC. The bands were:

Tarantuloco
Wolverines
Giant
Hi Ho, Six Shooter!
Architects
Ultra Dolphins
Boa Narrow
Phoenix Bodies
La Quiete
Baroness

Basically, a gathering of some of the best hardcore bands ever, like, seriously. With the exception of Hi Ho, Six Shooter!, which was folk-rock stuff, an ambulance had to be called during almost every set.

The best part about this concert, though, was that La Quiete flew from their home in Italy to play for us at this show. We were their first show outside of Europe, and I think it really took them by surprise when they found out how many fans they had here. The audience, except for a few losers who for the most part got kicked out, was full of very nice people, and I talked to some people that came all the way from Oklahoma to see La Quiete play.

Almost everything that went on in this bookstore could have been considered a legendary moment elsewhere. The guitarist from Ultra Dolphns jumped over me and this other guy to get into the pit, no, there wasn't an elevated stage, either. Hi Ho had a guy in a cowsuit that played a cowbell. Half of Phoenix Bodies played naked, they played so loudly that I thought that they would be the last thing I'd be able to hear. And, of course, La Quiete playing for almost two hours.

It was incredible, there just aren't shows like that anymore.
